DHX Media’s New TeleTubbies Tops UK Kids Ratings

DHX Media has garnered top ratings for the UK airing of the new Teletubbies TV series. After the first week on air, the series won a 66 percent share of the target audience of parents with kids ages 0 to 3, and boosted CBeebies’ share by 27 percent.
Based on average figures for the first five episodes, using data from industry ratings body BARB, the launch of the brand new episodes also saw Teletubbies win a 33 percent share of kids ages 4 to 6.
Launched on November 6, the series features the characters and styling of the original series with brand new elements, including touch screen tummy TVs and a high-tech Tubby Phone.

British Museum Appoints TSBA Group

The British Museum has announced the appointment of specialist brand agency TSBA Group to build a global licensing campaign on behalf of the Museum. The three-year partnership will establish a platform for realising the British Museum’s enormous licensing potential.
The Museum has selected TSBA Group to develop a licensing campaign that, at its heart, has the values that have made the British Museum one of the world’s best known and most loved cultural institutions.
Human culture across the globe and throughout history is reflected in The British Museum’s vast and unique collection of over 8 million objects. Imagine Exhibitions and Universal Partnerships & Licensing Announce Jurassic World: The Exhibition

Imagine Exhibitions and Universal Partnerships & Licensing announced a new globally touring exhibition Jurassic World: The Exhibition, opening in March at Melbourne Museum in Australia. Based on Universal Pictures’ blockbuster Jurassic World, the exhibition will embark on a worldwide tour, including several North American tour dates.

The immersive experience will allow guests to get closer to dinosaurs than ever before, featuring encounters with realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs set in highly themed environments inspired by the film. Paleontologist Jack Horner, who served as an advisor for the film, is also onboard to introduce interactive educational elements.

Creature Technology Co., renowned for realistic animatronics featured in Walking with Dinosaurs, is developing the dinosaurs.

Epic Rights and Perryscope Expanding AC/DC’s Licensing Program

GBI’s Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab Clears 161 Public TV Stations Across U.S.

Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab animated series, created by Genius Brands International in association with Georgia Public Broadcasting, has cleared to date 161 public TV stations across the country.
The series, which began its initial launch in September now airs in key markets nationwide, including New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, and New Orleans. The series will continue its rollout through the end of this year and into next year.
Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab delivers imaginative adventures that engage a child’s natural curiosity allowing them to discover how much fun science can be. The series is also available on the new Kid Genius channel on Comcast’s Xfinity on Demand platform, reaching more than 60 countries worldwide.

ITV Appoints Knockout to Handle Poldark in U.S. and Canada

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) announces that Knockout Licensing has been signed as the licensing agent for the popular historical drama, Poldark in the U.S. and Canada.
Co-produced by Mammoth Screen and Masterpiece, Poldark made its U.S. broadcast debut on leading drama channel PBS Masterpiece in June 2015, attracting a strong average of 4 million viewers per episode. Now, building on the growing popularity of the series in the market, Knockout Licensing will oversee the development of a dedicated Poldark consumer products programme.  
The licensing agent is currently seeking partners in key categories including homewares, gifting, stationery and apparel. Merchandise will target the female adult market, with a secondary audience of gift buyers and men.

LPGA Adds Apparel and Hosiery Licenses

LPGA has signed two new licensing partnerships for apparel and hosiery, in deals secured by The Brand Liaison. Sport Haley that will create LPGA branded apparel, and Best Legwear Group will launch LPGA socks and hosiery. 

Sport-Haley will develop a line of co-branded apparel under its brands Sport Haley and Bette and Court, designed for golf, specialty, and departments store channels and has also secured the rights to distribute LPGA brand apparel at mass and discount chains. 

Best Legwear Group will develop branded socks and hosiery, including golf performance socks. Products from the two licensees will debut at the PGA Show in Orlando in January and will be available at golf retail channels next spring. The Brand Liaison continues to focus on expanding the LPGA brand and the new Girl’s Golf brand into a variety of consumer products including apparel, accessories, and golf equipage for both on course performance and aspirational lifestyle.

Karen Addison Associates Expands Thelwell Licensing Program

Karen Addison Associates Ltd announces the appointment of Florida-based NewTack Strategies to expand the licensing of the artwork of Norman Thelwell to North America and key Caribbean and South American markets.
The adventures of Penelope and her comic pony Kipper, drawn from the pen of popular British cartoonist Norman Thelwell, are current for a new generation of young riders and enjoy nostalgic appeal for their parents. According to agency principal, Karen Addison, “I am delighted about getting back together with NewTack Strategies’ president, Shari Meltzer, a former colleague from The Copyrights Group, to help develop the brand worldwide.”
“We anticipate great things with this fabulous brand,” added Shari Meltzer. “The equine market in the US is a multi billion dollar industry, and the Thelwell images are quite possibly the funniest equine cartoons ever drawn. They are sure to appeal to the millions of Americans who are equestrian enthusiasts and will delight young participants in equine activities.”
Licensing opportunities are available in apparel, stationery, gift, promotional, and veterinary products.

Warner Bros. DC Super Hero Girls Announces Graphic Novel

Warner Bros. DC Entertainment has announced the launch of a DC Super Hero Girls original graphic novel, titled DC Super Hero Girls: Finals Crisis to be, written by Shea Fontana and illustrated by Yancey Labat.

Walt Disney Italia to Exhibit at Bologna for First Time

The Walt Disney Company Italia has announced its participation at the Bolgogna Licensing Trade Fair 2016 for the first time. The Walt Disney Company Italia is the first licensor in Italy with over 400 licensees partners on franchises as Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, the world of Princesses, Frozen and classics for all targets as Mickey Mouse. The Fair runs 4-6 April 2016.
Visitors attending the fair will have a complete overview on the hottest franchises available in the Italian territory, with other key players who will return to exhibit and visit. Events include the Licensing Retail Day, and the Licensing Prospect Day, as well as the Licensing Masterclass.

Lawless Entertainment Signs New Deals for Suzy’s Zoo

Lawless Entertainment has signed a deal with MyLocker to develop an online store for consumers to personalize apparel and consumer products with Suzy’s Zoo art. 

Customers will have the ability to select Suzy’s Zoo art of their choice, then place it on a variety of more than 500 products for men, women, and children, including apparel, blankets, mugs, bags, and tablet and laptop sleeves.

Lawless Entertainment also signed a distribution deal with Toon Goggles on behalf of Suzy’s Zoo. Toon Goggles will feature 10 episodes of the Suzy’s Zoo: A Day with Witzy series on its top family entertainment on-demand platform, which showcases animated and live-action content via its app for smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs. The episodes will premiere on Toon Goggles this December.

Arabian Licensing Company Appointed for Sesame Street in MENA

Following the successful launch of a brand-new Arabic-language version of Sesame Street in the MENA region, Sesame workshop and Bidaya Media — the production joint venture between Sesame Workshop and the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company Mubadala Development — has appointed Arabian Licensing Company (ALC) as the licensing agent for its kids’ series in the UAE, GCC and Middle East.
Entitled Iftah Ya Simsim, the new show — the first Arabic language version of Sesame Street for 25 years — premiered on SpaceToon TV and across eight broadcast stations in September. The 28 new episodes featuring original songs, live-action films and animated segments. Aimed at a core target audience aged between four and six the show is entirely locally produced, with content that is developed according to the curriculum prepared by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.
ALC will develop a full-scale licensing programme featuring a wide range of products and retail promotions for the series, the representation agreement with Bidaya Media includes the use of domestic characters for the MENA markets and global characters for the global markets.

Bulldog Signs Two Major Deals for Shopkins

Bulldog Licensing has signed on Blueprint and Danilo for Moose Toys’ Shopkins brand.
Danilo will produce calendars, greetings cards (including print-on-demand), gift wrap, roll wrap, and gift bags, while Blueprint will produce an extensive stationery range that includes files, writing sets, pencils, art sets, scrapbooks, binders, and accessories. 

Genius Brands and Neroli Open Panama Psycho Bunny Store

Genius Brands International and its wholly owned subsidiary, A Squared Entertainment, the global licensing agent for luxury apparel and lifestyle brand Psycho Bunny, is collaborating with Neroli Group S.A., Psycho Bunny’s core Latin America sportswear distributor in Latin America, on the launch of the brand’s flagship retail store in Panama City.
“Genius Brands continues to expand the Psycho Bunny retail program around the world by aligning with partners such as Neroli,” said Psycho Bunny Co-Founder Robert Godley.  “Opening our flagship retail store in Panama City, a hub for international banking and commerce, we’re able to capitalize on the city’s vast tourism and its role as the gateway city to Central America, as well as its ranking as a "beta-" world city akin to London, New York or Tokyo.”

Gas Monkey Garage Monster Jam Truck to Debut in 2016

Feld Entertainment announced that Monster Jam will debut a Gas Monkey Garage truck based on the garage from the Discovery Channel’s TV series Fast N’ Loud on January 9. The truck body will be designed by Richard Rawlings and will tour Monster Jam events next year.
Based in Dallas, Discovery Channel’s most highly rated and watched TV series Fast N’ Loud features Gas Monkey Garage owner Richard Rawlings, an expert at buying, restoring, and selling classic cars and hot rods. Rawlings has created a one-of-a-kind ’70s muscle car body for the Gas Monkey Garage Monster Jam truck and is designing custom artwork that will reflect the spirit of the garage.

Arait Multimedia to Represent Yo-Kai Watch in Spain

VIZ Media Europe has named Arait Multimedia as licensing agent for Yo-Kai Watch in Spain.
The Yo-Kai Watch animated series is the top-rated show for kids 4-12 across all genres on TV TOKYO.  In addition to the hit TV series and €2 billion in merchandise sales, Nintendo’s 3DS video game has sold over 8 million units, and fans have spent millions more at retail on Yo-Kai Watch products, including manga and books, games, and music. 
After its debuts on Disney DXD in the U.S, the TV series will arrive in Europe in 2016 with leading broadcasters. Nintendo released its first video game November 6, 2015 in the US with Europe to follow in 2016. Yo-kai Watch toys from global Master Toy licensee Hasbro will hit the shelves in 2016.

Cartamundi announces Finding Dory Card Games

Cartamundi has announced three new launches inspired by Disney.Pixar’s Finding Dory, the eagerly awaited follow-up to the 2003 Disney.Pixar hit Finding Nemo, which swims into cinemas on 29th July 2016. Available in spring 2016 will be a Snap game, a two-in-one game and a game box, all starring Nemo’s forgetful friend and her fellow stars from the new film.
The two-in-one game and the game box include both a Pairs and Donkey game. The game box also includes a colourful and engaging Finding Dory puzzle. The packaging and the cards for all three products include pictures of Dory and many other characters from the new film.

Entertainment One Signs Carousel and Megalicense for Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom

Entertainment One (eOne) has signed the rights to air its BAFTA and Emmy award-winning preschool series Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom on leading Russian broadcaster, Carousel. Russian licensing agent Megalicense has also been appointed to manage the consumer products programme for the brand throughout Russia and the Ukraine.
Carousel, Russia’s leading free-to-air channel for families, has acquired series one and two (104 x 11 minute) of Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and programming is scheduled to launch from 7th December 2015. Carousel also currently airs eOne’s award-winning preschool property, Peppa Pig.
To build on the increased broadcast exposure, eOne has appointed Russian licensing agent, Megalicense, to manage the licensing and merchandising programme in Russia and the Ukraine.
Megalicense currently represents eOne’s Peppa Pig across the region and since taking on representation the agent has secured a number of licensing deals across key categories including apparel, publishing, a stand alone magazine, that sold out within a week, and the brand’s first live show in the region. The agent will now actively seek partners for Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom across multiple categories, which are planned to launch at retail from Autumn/Winter 2016.
As part of its strategy to build a fanbase for the brand in Russia and the Ukraine, eOne has developed a localised Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom website for the territory that will be online to support the broadcast launch on Carousel.

The Bright Group Emporium Bringing Links Between Licensing and Art

On 10th November, The Bright Group International launched The Bright Emporium in Clapham, London, as a new retail space with illustration focus. The new space shows the artwork of 10 artists including, Yasmeen Ismail, Fred Blunt and Gabe Alborozo in an exhibition called ‘Where The Story Began’.
Founder and owner Vicki Willden-Lebrecht said: “Books, illustration and artwork don’t just arrive; they are a creative process of ideas, storytelling and messages. This will be a reactive and creative space for illustrators, art lovers, children and parents. Rocket Announces Appointment of New Licensing Coordinator

Independent licensing company Rocket Licensing has announced the appointment of Megan Wain as its new Licensing Coordinator.
In her new post Megan will provide marketing support and coordination across Rocket’s growing portfolio of brands in order to ensure the efficient running of the team and effective working with partners and clients. She will be involved in marketing duties within Rocket, including creating sales and marketing presentations, liaising with partners, helping to facilitate events for brands and undertaking office administration and support, as well as research duties. She will report directly to Rocket’s Joint MDs, Rob Wijeratna and Charlie Donaldson.
