Turbo Fast Series to Be First Netflix Original Series for Kids 

Turbo and his Fast Action Stunt Team will make their global TV debut on Christmas Eve with the launch of DreamWorks Animation’s all new Turbo Fast series, the first Netflix original series for kids. Families will be able to stream the first five episodes this holiday season, with additional all new episodes premiering throughout the year.
 
The TV series digs deeper into the personalities of the snail crew from the feature film Turbo and features 2-D design to create a stylized look reflective of the Stunt Team’s fast-paced world.

Elmer’s Signs Licensing Deal with Leap Year

Elmer’s Products Inc. and Leap Year have partnered to extend the Elmer’s brand into the adhesive tape and note product categories. Elmer’s exclusive line will be marketed by Leap Year and is to include Elmer’s-branded adhesive tapes, packaging tapes, adhesive notes, and other products. The line will be available at retailers across North America. The collaboration with Leap Year was created by Licensing Works! on behalf of Elmer Products Inc.

The Disney Store Thaws Out the Winter Soldier for Marvel Select

As fans anticipate Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s debut on the big screen next spring, Diamond Select and Disney have partnered to create the ultimate Winter Soldier collectible based on his recent appearance in his own self-titled comic book.

Sculpted by Jean St. Jean, the new 7-inch Marvel Select Winter Soldier action figure will be available in mid-December exclusively at the Disney Store, disneystore.com, and marvelstore.com. He comes equipped with a pistol, a machine gun, and a sniper rifle, and features 16 points of articulation. A shatter window display base is also included, and both the figure and base come packaged in the Select line’s familiar display packaging.


CafePress Launches Official E-commerce Store for Annoying Orange

CafePress Inc. and the licensing agent for the Annoying Orange brand in North America, The Joester Loria Group, have announced the launch of the official online store for the animated series Annoying Orange. The initial selection of T-shirts and gear feature the adventures of Annoying Orange and his food friends. Items include “Who cut the cheese?” T-shirt, Space Fruit iPhone snap case, “Cute things are cute!” lunch tote, and “Not short, fun size” girls’ T-shirt.


Performance Brands Announces Digital Division, Signs Clumsy Ninja

Performance Brands has formed a new division, PB Digital. Over the past five years, Performance Brands’ digital partnerships have grown significantly. Michele Pearce will take on the new role of vice president for PB Digital and will consolidate the licensing programs for all digital and entertainment clients, using her expertise and leverage with digital developers, publishing houses, and global toy manufacturers to grow global brands. Pearce, head of European licensing, has represented Nintendo for more than six years.
 
PB Digital will focus on digital, toys, promotions, and publishing with a team with first-hand industry knowledge of these sectors. Mike Archer has a background in marketing and promotions; Linden Farrow joins the team with a background that includes toy product development for Hornby and management of all product approval for Nintendo; and Howard Claire brings experience in the hard goods/toys sector.
 
Performance Brands has also been appointed global licensing agent for Clumsy Ninja, the mobile game from NaturalMotion Games released on November 21. Clumsy Ninja is a virtual friend who feels alive and self-aware. Players train him, throw him, tickle him, and tie balloons to him. The game uses NaturalMotion’s Euphoria motion engine, which lets the character sense, feel, move, and react uniquely every time.


Camilla Meijer Partners with Wedding Paper Divas

In a deal brokered by HAP Consulting, London-based Camilla Meijer has created a wedding stationery collection for Wedding Paper Divas that captures Meijer's intricate patterns and art-influenced design into online stationery products. Camilla Meijer designs are lush and bold, with a contemporary feel in strong original colors.
 
Meijer’s nature-inspired designs come to life in a collection of wedding invitation designs, available at www.weddingpaperdivas.com.

EUROPE

New Animated Series Based on Subway Surfers App  

After the Subway Surfers app’s success, a Subway Surfers animated series is currently in development through a licensing deal secured by Ink. The upcoming series is a European/Canadian co-production and will comprise of 26 x 13-minute episodes. The game’s cast of characters will star in the series, and it will build on key themes such as travel and exploration.

 

Megalicense to Represent Angry Birds 

Rovio Entertainment Ltd. has appointed Megalicense to represent the brand’s licensing and retail-focused initiative for the Russian territory. Rovio Entertainment is best known for its Angry Birds franchise, which remains the No. 1 paid app and has expanded into entertainment and publishing genres internationally. 

Mask-arade’s Licensing Director Ray Duffy is excited about the new ranges, “We see this as a massive addition to our licensed product portfolio, Little Mix and Union J are the hottest properties around in the pop world and if sales are anywhere near what we have experienced with One Direction, then 2014 is going to be one hell of year for Mask-arade.”

New Licensees Added for The Very Hungry Caterpillar

New licensees are still being added to the UK licensing campaign for The World of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which is managed by Rocket Licensing in the UK through worldwide agent The Joester Loria Group. Sapona has signed on for licensed toiletries, including branded children’s bubble bath, toothbrushes, body wash, and hand soaps. East Coast Nursery has signed on for a range of The Very Hungry Caterpillar blankets, quilts, curtains, and more. Both companies join an extensive group of licensees.

New Episodes and Retail Campaign for Tree Fu Tom


New episodes of Tree Fu Tom will air on CBeebies accompanied by a major brand and retail campaign from FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment.
 
The campaign started with a second series of Tree Fu Tom on CBeebies during October half term. This saw the channel launch a promotional campaign for the new episodes including screening an episode at their autumn season press and VIP Event, on-air trails, presenter links and an online offering including a presence on the CBeebies home page, extended information on the grown-ups’ site and a new Sprite Yourself game.
 
The new episodes saw an 18.4 percent share amongst children ages 4 to 6 and ranking as the No.1 show in its time slot. Peaking with an impressive 23.5 percent share, Tree Fu Tom performed up to 41 percent above CBeebies’ slot average. It was also the highest rated show in its time slot amongst boys ages 4 to 6, with peak episodes exceeding the broadcaster’s slot average by 44 percent, based on 2013 year-to-date slot average.
 
The on-screen activity is being complemented at retail by a large scale campaign with recent Tree Fu Tom costume appearances at Smyths, and John Lewis and with further appearances  scheduled at Toys “R” Us, and Debenhams through to the New Year. 
 
High street stand out has also been secured with a window campaign across The Entertainer stores which will see the brand take prime position from 28th November through to Christmas Day.  In addition Toys “R” Us is offering a free magazine with every Tree Fu Tom sale in December.
 
A one-month campaign across the country’s 75 Wacky Warehouse soft play activity centers will also reach over 100,000 parents and children in the lead up to Christmas. 
 

Winx Club Magazine in Portugal Set to Celebrate 100 Issues


The Portuguese version of Winx Club magazine will be celebrating 100 issues when its December installment hits the shelves. To celebrate, a competition prize is on offer – a chance to sail the seas on a Winx Cruise.
 
Readers of Winx Club magazine across Portugal will get the chance to win by entering a competition that will put their creativity to the test. Entrants have to draw a picture that ties in the with the cruise theme – with the winner scooping the prize of an all-expenses-paid family trip on the Winx Cruise.
 
The cruise is taking place as part of worldwide celebrations surrounding the Winx Club 10th anniversary next year. 


RSPB Enters the World of Board Games

The RSPB, in conjunction with Pants On Fire Games Ltd., is launching an original board game called Wing It.
 
Due to hit shelves in December, Wing It is a family game where participants travel around the British countryside spotting different birds, as well as being competitive– opponents can hamper progress in order to get there first.
 
The images of the birds used are from the RSPB’s own image library and the selection of birds and locations was made using the expertise of RSPB wardens. “We wanted Wing It to be as realistic as possible,” said Richard McLuckie, director of Pants On Fire Games. “All our games have one thing in common - they have to be good fun.  And in Wing It there is just the right balance of educational value, competition and mischief.”
 
“It fits in with what the RSPB is all about,” said Doug Christie, the RSPB’s licensing manager. “It’s fun, it’s educational and hopefully it will inspire people to take a closer look at nature and how they can help give it a home.” In addition Wing It has been made using paper, wood and card products from suppliers that have FSC accreditation.


First Digital Peppa Pig Magazine Launches


Redan Publishing has extended its partnership with Entertainment One to launch the first digital Peppa Pig magazine on the Apple newsstand on December 4.
 
Based on the Fun To Learn Peppa Pig Bag-O-Fun Magazine (circ. 70,000), the monthly magazine app will include free hand coloring sections, character voices, story arcs, and an educational focus.
 
Julie Jones, joint managing director of Redan Publishing, says: “We are very excited to be able to offer a truly interactive version of our hugely successful FTL Peppa Pig Bag-O-Fun magazine.  We wanted to deliver a publication that adds something different and special to the printed magazine and not just a simple pdf version. This was quite a challenge, knowing that children are amongst the most demanding and savvy users of tablets. The animation and activities in this App will provide Peppa fans with a new and exciting way to engage with their favourite character and we hope that each issue will keep them entertained for hours.”


Imira Lines up Deals for Cher Ami


Imira Entertainment has inked a number of deals for the animated feature Cher Ami, the story of French messenger pigeons during World War I, produced by Accio in Spain.
 
The movie has been sold recently to Disney Channel across several territories in Asia: Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and China for Pay TV, Internet, and mobile broadcast.
 
Commenting on the deal, Elena Mera Dios, Imira Entertainment territory manager for EMEA, North America, and Asia says: “Imira Entertainment is actively expanding its presence across key territories in Asia, and this deal with Disney continues to build the momentum we have established within these markets. We look forward to a productive year ahead, developing exciting new projects like the Asian-inspired series Mondo Yan.”


Goldbug and Placematix Sign Deal


Goldbug has announced its latest distribution deal as the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for new European children’s tableware range Placematix. The interlocking tableware is designed for both function and fun and is compatible with Duplo, Mega Bloks, and other brick construction sets. Goldbug will initially launch the Placematix Gift Set, which contains a large non-slip placemat, plate, bowl, spoon, and fork.
 
Coendert Habers, Sales Director at Placematix commented: “Based on the extremely positive and enthusiastic reactions we’ve received from both trade and consumers worldwide, we are now eager and ready to serve the world this unique and innovative concept. Maya the Bee Finds Home on Disney Junior Asia

Studio 100 Media has finalized a deal with Disney Junior Asia for its new CGI-animated series Maya The Bee.  
 
Produced by Paris based Studio 100 Animation SAS in association with TF1 and ZDF Maya The Bee is set to premiere on Disney Junior Asia on Wednesday, January 1. The series will air daily in Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, The Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, The Republic of Palau, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau.


BRB Internacional Presents New Series at Asia TV Forum

BRB Internacional is attending the Asia TV Forum, in Singapore, with its full catalogue and will also present for the first time there, Filly Funtasia, based on the property Filly of Dracco. It will also show the latest of Invizimals, the series based on the video game series from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
 
The company will attend the Asian television market fair under the ICEX and FAPAE, Spanish Audiovisual Producers, umbrella stand that brings together the brand group Audiovisual From Spain.
 
Filly Funtasia (26 x 30) is a cartoon sitcom in 3-D that revolves around the adventures of the young Fillys –Unicorns, Elves, Fairies, Princesses and Witches– at the Magic Royal Academy of Funtasia. The series will premiere worldwide next year. 


Kaynak Licensing Agency to Represent Purple Turtle in Turkey

Kaynak Holding is a Turkish copyright, licensing and merchandizing agency which will now represent Purple Turtle in Turkey. Kaynak hosts brands such as publishing houses, authors, characters, films/tv and more. Purple Turtle, now recognised as a kids luxury brand, will now be available in Turkey.
