Sesame Streets Unveils New Format, Segment, and Cast Member

On January 16, Sesame Street will launch season 46 on HBO with the boldest changes to the Street to date, including 30-minute episodes, new preschool-relevant themes, new show open and closing songs, an updated set, a new segment called “Smart Cookies,” and a new cast member, Nina. 
On January 16, two new episodes of Sesame Street will debut on HBO starting at 9:00am. Every Saturday thereafter a new episode will air at 9:00am followed by a repeat episode at 9:30am. New episodes will also simultaneously debut on HBO Latino and will be dubbed into Spanish. Families will also be able to watch new and past seasons of Sesame Street daily on HBO Family at 8:00am, as well as five years of library episodes available for streaming on HBO Now and HBO Go. Episodes will also be available on HBO On Demand and affiliate portals. Sesame Street content continues to be available to PBS KIDS viewers on weekdays and Sundays on local stations, and on the PBS KIDS Video App. Season 46 episodes will begin airing on PBS KIDS next fall.

Flair Adds to Shopkins Offering

Bulldog Licensing has announced that Flair, distributor of Shopkins, has signed a new agreement to extend their product offering.

There are over 140 Shopkins figures to collect in each series, including a few ultra-rare characters, and they are sold inside little shopping bags. A third series launched in the UK market in July this year, and around the world, more than 100 million characters have been sold to date, whilst over 36 million views have been recorded on the brand’s YouTube channel and there have been more than 420 million views of fan videos and webisodes featuring Shopkins.

Flair is developing a wide range of new products to complement the existing toy ranges. The new offering covers the company’s ever-popular Cool Cardz and Shaker Maker ranges whilst a new plush line will hit shelves across the UK and Eire by early Spring 2016, rolling out across Europe thereafter.
Flair’s new product line adds to an ever-expanding licensing programme. Other categories represented include apparel, publishing, bedding, arts and crafts, annuals, games, posters and amusement plush, through top licensees such as Aykroyds, Spearmark, Winning Moves, Pyramid and VMC.

PBS Kids’ Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live Premieres in Philadelphia

The PBS Kids’ Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live! by the Fred Roger Co. will premiere on January 15 at Merriam Theater, Philadelphia, featuring lovable characters, engaging storylines, and toe-tapping tunes for fans. The official tour details can be found at
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE! stars Daniel Tiger in his iconic red sweater and sneakers, with other characters, including Mom and Dad Tiger, Baby Margaret, Katerina Kittycat, Miss Elaina, Prince Wednesday, O the Owl, and Trolley. The live show features musical numbers as Daniel and his friends embark on an adventure through the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

Panini Launches New Collection of Sendokai Champions

Panini has launched a new collection of Sendokai Champions which is available at newsstands and stores throughout Spain. The Virtual Combat Cards Black Edition collection contains 180 different cards to collect with unpublished images of the series; also it provides more information about the characters and lets children play combats, so that it is a more enriching experience.

Coproduced by Kotoc, TVE and Planeta Junior, Sendokai Champions follows the adventures of four boys and girls who most save the Earth from the Evil Zorn Empire.

Cartoon Network Launches Digital TV Network in Southeast Asia

Cartoon Network has launched Cartoon Network Anything, a TV network built exclusively for a phone or tablet and the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. This app contains content created for portable mobile platforms, rapidly delivering entertainment in a unique way.
The app is free and available for download now on iOS and Google Play for smartphones and tablets. Cartoon Network Anything is an ever-growing, ever-changing stream of content, including games, activities, super-fast trivia quizzes, and interactive video games, 15-seconds in length. After a user finishes with one item, they simply swipe the screen to move on to the next.
Hit franchises Adventure Time, We Bare Bears, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Uncle Grandpa, Teen Titans Go!, and Clarence all feature exclusive content for the app. Cartoon Network Anything will premiere Mighty Magiswords, an animated micro-series along with a slew of new Asia Pacific-made short-form content such as Beat Monsters from Korea, Lamput from India, and The Sketchy Show and Bill & Tony from Australia.

Black White Orange in Mumbai Backed by Yuvraj Singh

Black White Orange Brands Pvt Ltd, a Mumbai-based brand licensing start-up, has raised funding from YouWeCan Ventures, backed by cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Black White Orange Brands Pvt. Ltd was founded by corporate executive-turned-entrepreneur Bhavik Vora two months ago and the core team includes co-founders Mitali Desai and Diksha Mehta. Black White Orange provides merchandising solutions and helps brands, celebrities, media and retailers find ways to strengthen their relationship with the most important stakeholder – the consumer.  They offer services in retail, distribution, syndication, brand consulting, and creative solutions, both within India and overseas. Additionally, Black White Orange will also looks at generating new revenue streams and creating brand loyalty strategies.

Discovery Consumer Products, Horizon Group Partner

Discovery Consumer Products has partnered Horizon Group USA to launch a new line under the Discovery Kids brand. 
Horizon Group USA is currently developing a broad array of science, craft, and magic activity kits for launch next year. The line will debut Create Your Own, Build Your Own, and Learn and Discover sets, including a 3-D shuttle launch, a DNA build kit, an ancient relics excavation kit, a crystal growing kit, and more. The line will target kids ages 6 to 11.

Total Brand Licensing to Be Distributed at Spring Fair

Starting this coming February, Total Brand Licensing is working with the organisers of Spring Fair in Birmingham and copies of the Winter issue will be distributed to visitors at the show.
Spring Fair is one of the largest gift and allied merchandise fairs in the world and regularly attracts more than 64,000 visitors, both from the UK and internationally. According to the organisers, 93% of the visitors who attend Spring Fair have direct purchasing responsibility. And last year £2.4bn was spent as a direct result. The Fabulous Beekman Boys, also known as Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, have been busy spreading their message of community and neighborly support across the country through the expansion of their lifestyle brand Beekman 1802. Brand Central, the exclusive licensing agency for Beekman 1802, has brokered multiple partnerships in categories such as food and beverage, housewares, home décor, bath and beauty, bedding, furniture, and footwear.

Beekman 1802 launched a food line called Beekman 1802 Farm Pantry as an exclusive Target collection that will feature up to 48 SKUs and will be available in Target retail stores and The products are an assortment of pasta sauces, salsas, condiments, cooking sauces, salad dressings, baking mixes, seasonings, spices, soup mixes, pie fillings, granola, and grow-your-own herb kits. 

All of the items featured are either organic, use non-GMO ingredients, or use ingredients from a small farm. Additionally, with every Beekman 1802 Farm Pantry purchase, a percentage of profits goes toward supporting small farms.

Francetv Distribution Announces Deals

Francetv distribution has announced the first sales deal for The Parenthood Instruction Manual to the Gabonese Republic during Discop Africa.

The deal represents the result of long-term work in French-speaking African territories over the past years.

“This sale along with a search for funding and distribution of Gabonese ready-made adds another string to our bow and reinforces our position on the African continent,’’ says Mathurin Beauvert, in charge of sales at francetv distribution.

Jetpack Distribution Secures Global Broadcast Agreement with Outfit7

Jetpack Distribution has inked a deal with Outfit7 Ltd. for the global broadcast rights to Talking Tom and Friends, an animated series based on the app of the same name. Jetpack will have the exclusive global TV rights, excluding Asia, to distribute the CGI-animated series.
Talking Tom and Friends chronicles the adventures and inventions of Talking Tom and his gang of friends as they shoot their own reality TV show. The series features an all-star voice cast, including Colin Hanks (Fargo), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Lisa Schwartz (Party Girl), James Adomian (Gravity Falls), and Maria Bamford (Lady Dynamite).

Richard Haines Promoted to Head of Acquisitions and TV Development at Penguin Random House

Penguin Random House Children’s has promoted Richard Haines to the newly created role of Head of Acquisitions and TV Development.

In his role, Haines will lead PRH Children’s TV development strategy, seeking out new TV and production company partners. He will also work alongside the PRH Children’s picture book team to turn some of their new picture book heroes into animation.

Anheuser-Busch and NBA Announce Multiyear Marketing Partnership Renewal

Anheuser-Busch and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have entered a four-year extension of a marketing partnership, which began in 1998. 

Anheuser-Busch will continue as the official beer partner of the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), and NBA Development League (NBA D-League). As part of the agreement, Anheuser-Busch will also expand its marketing partnership to include USA Basketball and the league’s Hispanic marketing initiative Noches éne•bé•a. 

Anheuser-Busch and the league will work together to produce an original digital content media series, designed to bring its brand messages to life through basketball. These videos will appear on NBA-owned properties and will be shared on Anheuser-Busch-owned properties this season.

The partnership also includes enhanced packaging and marketing rights. Anheuser-Busch can now feature select NBA and team logos collectively on a national basis on cans, bottles, and other packaging and in promotional campaigns, enabling its brands to better connect with the league’s rapidly expanding national fan base. 

Walker Books Celebrates 150 years of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with Gift Stationery Launch

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland celebrates its 150th anniversary this week and Walker is marking the occasion with the launch of a range of gift stationery created by Robert Frederick. Sesame Street Launches New Campaign to Promote Kindness

Sesame Street has announced a new initiative Sesame Street’s Everyday Heroes Club to continue its mission of helping kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. The project includes engaging online activities, hilarious Muppet videos, local events, and a social media campaign to share stories and to encourage kids and families that practicing kindness not only makes other people feel good, but also makes the doer feel good.

Kids and families can share their act of kindness on to earn a membership card, a club certificate, and special badges, including Manners, Respect, Giving, and Sharing. 

Tractor Ted on Track for Strongest Ever Year

Tractor Ted has reported a substantial uplift in sales this year with all areas of the business from trade to internet showing significant growth compared to the same period last year.
The combination of a recently launched major commercial partnership with Nickelodeon UK alongside a targeted marketing, sales and events campaign throughout 2014 means that Tractor Ted is on course to deliver its strongest ever year.

The company is marking a hugely successful 2015 by offering a reduction in carriage paid orders and added value fun for trade accounts up to Christmas.

The Licensing Shop Inc. Brings Alexandra Ries Onboard to Steer Shopkins Licensing Program

The Licensing Shop Inc. has brought Alexandra Ries onto their team to support retail strategy and development for the Shopkins licensing program. Based in Dallas, Ries will work with Shopkins licensees and retailers to develop and coordinate exclusive multi-category merchandise programs.

Previously, Ries was the vice president of sales, North America at PBS Distribution, managing the sales and retail business for the PBS portfolio of brands. Ries also oversaw pricing strategy, retail marketing, and product development. Ries also served as a founding member of NCircle Entertainment, where she ultimately led as vice president of sales and business development.

Yo-Kai Watch in 3-D Deal

Level-5 abby Inc. and RedwoodVentures LLC have inked a deal to license Yo-Kai Watch for the toy maker’s 3D art toy line, ido3d. 

ido3d uses technology to bring artwork to life. Kids can create 3D art by simply drawing, connecting and constructing designs using ido3d 3D printing technology.

Debra Valencia Adds Three New Licenses

Debra Valencia has entered three new license agreements, including decorative quilt and pillows with Duke Imports, cell phone covers and tech accessories with Winner Wireless, and back-to-school supplies with Pamson.   

Duke Imports Inc. will launch a line of seven quilt sets with matching pillowcases featuring Debra Valencia’s latest design collections. The new products will debut at the Atlanta Gift Show in January and other major home textile shows.

Neocube Inc. also known as Winner Wireless has developed more than 30 cellphone cases featuring Debra Valencia prints on high quality cell phone covers for popular cell phone models. Debra Valencia cell phone covers and tech accessories will be available at specialty stores and kiosks beginning this holiday season.
Next fall, consumers will be able to purchase Debra Valencia art on notebooks and folders from Pamson Pacific Enterprises. Pamson has developed a line of spiral notebooks, composition books, and compendium folders featuring Debra’s boldest and brightest patterns and has received placement at major U.S. retailers including department stores and discount chains.

The Entertainer Raising Money for Refugees in Syria and Iraq

The Entertainer staff are raising money on Giving Tuesday for Open Doors campaign to feed families in Syria and Iraq that have been forced to flee their homes to escape the violence of war and extremism.  Head office departments and store teams at each of The Entertainer’s 115 stores are trying to each raise at least £71 which will feed a family of five for a month through one of Open Doors’ emergency food parcels. 
The Entertainer’s Founder and Managing Director Gary Grant says, “We will be matching pound for pound whatever amount our staff raise to demonstrate our thanks to them for their ongoing commitment in fundraising for worthwhile causes” We’ve asked our head office and store teams to post a #unselfie and explain why they are supporting Open Doors charity.  We will then ask them to post their #unselfie online.”

Lisa Pearce, Chief Executive of Open Doors said: “We are thrilled that The Entertainer toy stores are giving people a great way to provide food and other necessities to refugees in Syria and Iraq. Thanks to the generosity of ordinary people Open Doors is able to provide for over 24,000 families in Syria and Iraq every month – and with the help of The Entertainer customers and staff there will be more families with food and hope this Christmas.”
