Postal Service Celebrates Harry Potter with Limited Edition Forever Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service dedicated 20 new Forever stamps to the magical world of Harry Potter. Images of Hogwarts castle and Harry’s many friends and villains, including Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Professor Severus Snape make up these exclusive stamp books. Diageo and the NBA Announce Multiyear Marketing Partnership

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has signed Diageo, a premium drink company, as the exclusive spirits partner of the league. Diageo’s brands, including Ciroc and Crown Royal will be integrated into the NBA’s and the NBA Development League’s marketing initiatives. Diageo’s Baileys brand will also serve as a Gold level partner of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Inspiring Women Luncheon, with other activities to take place under the Baileys Brand.
As part of the partnership, Crown Royal will further its Reign On campaign, which provides fans access to players through unique video content on digital and broadcast channels. A video series, On Point, featuring Terrence J will also debut on TNT. Big Tent and Precious Kids Unveil Domo Car Accessories

Big Tent Entertainment has partnered with Precious Kids to launch a new line of Domo car accessories. The range of automotive accessories, including steering wheel covers, car mats, car seat covers, car chargers, decorative decals, mud guards, key chains, and license plate holders, will be available at gift, specialty, and department stores in the U.S. and Canada next spring. Marvel Entertainment and Huffy Introduce New Innovations in Bicycle Category

Marvel HuffyMarvel Entertainment LLC and Huffy, a U.S. bike manufacturer, have developed a new line of superhero-branded bicycles, tricycles, scooters, and accessories. Focusing on Marvel’s main film franchises, including Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Columbia Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Huffy will produce Spider-Man bikes that feature a WebTrap that holds villain and hero toys. Another version of the bike includes a special plastic web-frame design. The line will roll out to U.S. stores next spring and fall and will feature scooters and tricycles with lights and sounds, as well as products with bold character imagery.

New Lifestyle Tween Brand Set to Launch in Atlanta

Sugar Lulu, a new lifestyle brand that features do-it-yourself jewelry, room décor, and sleepover games for pre-adolescent girls ages 8 to 12, is set to launch from January 7 to 14 at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. Created by Shari Kaufman, co-founder of innovativeKids, the line features products such as No Rules Jewels and Picture Perfect Pin-Ups, offering a creative outlet for tween girls.

The initial product line includes Bling String bead kits, games, sticker books, and more. Kids can also log on to to swap jewelry designs, share room décor inspiration, and inspire others with their great ideas. They can also vote, review, blog, and vlog about new products and help shape the brand’s direction.

Fender Sweepstakes Kicks Off Fall Apparel Collection with Lucky

Fender has launched its new licensed apparel collection with Lucky Brand, and in support, is offering a sweepstakes prize package for musicians and music fans alike. The grand prize winner and one guest will receive an all-expense-paid, four-day, three-night trip to Los Angeles, where they will visit the iconic Fender guitar and amplifier manufacturing facility and visitor center in Corona, Calif. After a “backstage access” tour of the factory, the winner and his or her guest will design their own Fender American Design Experience guitars that will be built to their specifications. In addition, the winner and guest will receive two Fender Mustang II amplifiers. After scoring some new gear, the winner and guest will receive accommodations at the legendary Sunset Marquis Hotel, and visit the most historic music venues in Southern California for two nights with $250 each in spending money. Lastly, the winner and guest will either jam with or get a lesson from a rock star at the world famous NightBird Studios. Ten lucky runners up will receive Fender Standard Telecaster guitars.

Authentic Apparel Launches U.S. Army Licensed Clothing Line

Authentic Apparel Group has launched a line of clothing that is officially licensed by the U.S. Army. Film star and WWE champion, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will partner with Authentic Apparel Group to celebrate the U.S. Army’s rich heritage.

Henson Secures Deals Across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Canada

The Jim Henson Co. has secured a raft of new international broadcast, home entertainment, and digital licensing agreements across Asia Pacific, Europe, and Canada for its series and feature films. The announcement was made by Richard Goldsmith, executive vice president of Global Distribution for The Jim Henson Co.
“The Jim Henson Company’s long standing reputation for delivering innovative, engaging and entertaining content for family audiences continues to pique the interest and attention of international broadcasters from Asia to Europe,” said Goldsmith. “Our new CG-animated series Doozers has fueled interest in the classic Fraggle Rock series which, even as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, continues to delight viewers of all ages, proving once again that The Jim Henson Company’s programming is timeless and has tremendous appeal for audiences around the globe.”
The Jim Henson Co. has secured a multi-episode agreement with TVB in Hong Kong for Doozers, Pajanimals, and Sid the Science Kid, as well as a deal with PCCW for Pajanimals.
In Australia, Beyond has secured rights for Doozers, while Regency Media/Shock has acquired digital and home rights for The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss.
Other deals signed include Filmverlag in Germany and Nelonen in Finland, as well as TVO for Dinosaur Train in Canada.


Ex-Rovio Licensing Experts Launch 5th Wave Brands

Former Rovio employees Heikki Laaninen, Khalid Bur, and Mari Tuhanen have launched 5th Wave Brands, a new brand licensing agency that focuses on creating and executing global licensing programs for next generation mobile games and entertainment brands. Currently, 5th Wave Brands globally represent three mobile game brands: Badland, created by Frogmind; Hill Climb Racing, by Fingersoft; and Ruzzle, developed by MAG Interactive.

Dates for 2014 BLE Confirmed

Brand Licensing Europe in London, has been rescheduled for October 7 through 9, avoiding a conflict with MIPCOM. This is a week earlier than the dates announced at this year’s show.
2013’s BLE saw an increase of visitors from the previous year by 5 percent, with more than 7,200 licensees, retailers, and sales professionals from 69 countries in attendance. The organizers announce that over 70 percent of the show floor is already sold for next year.

Electrolux Welcomes Ciarán Coyle

Ciará coyleThe Electrolux Group has announced the appointment of Ciarán Coyle as new Vice President and Head of Global Brand Licensing. Coyle was previously the President of Europe and Asia Pacific of the Omnicom-owned global brand licensing agency Beanstalk.
“Enhancing the value of the Electrolux portfolio of brands, reaching new consumer segments, exploring new partnerships and driving new revenue streams through strategic brand licensing is a key part of our brand strategy,” comments MaryKay Kopf, Chief Marketing Officer of Electrolux. “Ciarán is a global expert in his field and we look forward to seeing the development of this important area of our business under his leadership.”
During his 11 years at Beanstalk, Coyle has been responsible for the development of Beanstalk’s agency business in Europe and Asia Pacific, representing numerous global brands including Harley-Davidson, Jack Daniel’s, Stanley, Black & Decker, Procter & Gamble, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volvo.
Coyle will be based at the Group’s North American headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and report to MaryKay Kopf.

eOne and George at Asda Debut Daddy Pig Range for Christmas

Daddy PigEntertainment One (eOne) has partnered with George at Asda for a new Daddy Pig loungewear collection for the holiday season. The new collection from George at Asda follows the success of their first Daddy Pig product line, which launched exclusively for Father’s Day in June and sold out across several lines. 
Hannah Mungo, Head of UK Licensing at Entertainment One said, “Daddy Pig’s appeal is cross-generational. His laugh-out-loud funny antics endear him to both preschool Peppa Pig fans and parents who enjoy watching the show with their kids. Chupa Chups Expands into Digital Arenas

Chupa Chups has teamed up 4 Dots Media to expand the brand into the digital games category. A range of five Chupa Chups apps will be available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, and Hong Kong, and soon in other European Union territories for iOS and Android platforms.
The first game of the collection, Chupa Chups Maker, was launched in August and has already reached more than half a million downloads. The game allows players to make and share their own personalized versions of the lollipops from scratch. The second game was released in October, and the third, Chupa Chups: Spot the Difference is in the pipeline.

Moshi Movie Soundtrack Available for Pre-Order

Moshi SoundtrackThe official soundtrack for Moshi Monsters: The Movie is now available to pre-order, and will be available in stores on December 9. Written and produced in-house under the Moshi Monsters Music record label, the album will be distributed by Sony Music continuing the Mind Candy and Sony Record label partnership.
Steve Cleverley, Chief Creative Writer at Mind Candy comments: “The Movie is incredibly exciting so we’re thrilled to launch the official soundtrack to the movie! We had a lot of fun producing the tracks for this album and hope Moshi fans enjoy listening to this album as much as we do.”
In other Moshi News, Michael Acton Smith and Moshi won a BAFTA on November 24 for Best Interactive Children’s.

Hoho Entertainment and Studio Liddell Release First Cloudbabies App

CloudbabiesThe first official Cloudbabies app, created under licence by Studio Liddell, the animation company behind the CBeebies series is now available for download on iTunes. 
Featuring six simple games designed specifically for young children, the Cloudbabies app allows toddlers to play alongside all their favorite characters from the series. Drawing on themes and activities from the show, the app also includes some light educational touches such as counting, aspects of gardening, playing music, subtle color recognition, and elements of creative design.

Zodiak Announces Mister Maker and Tickety Toc Magazines

Mister MakerZodiak Kids has secured agreements with magazine publishers Immediate Media and Signature Publishing to produce the first Mister Maker and Tickety Toc stand-alone magazine titles. The titles will be available in the UK and Eire next year.
The Mister Maker magazine, which will be produced by Immediate Media, will be on-shelf beginning in June. Signature Publishing will launch the Tickety Toc stand-alone magazine in the summer.
Commenting on the agreement, Alastair McHarrie, Vice President, Consumer Products, Zodiak Kids, London said: “We are delighted to add such strong partners. We look forward to working with Immediate Media and Signature Publishing to launch the first-ever Mister Maker and Tickety Toc stand-alone titles in the UK.”

Matt Hatter Sees Successful Licensing Summit

Matt HatterNovember 7 marked the Matt Hatter Chronicles’ Licensee Summit. On the back of a successful BLE, forty potential licensees were welcomed to Platinum Films’ HQ in Pinewood Film Studios to learn more about the UK consumer products rollout next year.
Guests were treated to a presentation from Platinum’s CEO, Nigel Stone, UK & Eire licensing agent ITV Studios Global Entertainment, and master toy licensee Simba Dickie Group. They also got to see in 3-D Multivision, just like the show’s hero Matt Hatter.

Cartoon Network Wins Two Awards at Kids Baftas

Cartoon Network scooped two awards at the Kids Baftas. Adventure Time won the best international category and UK-produced, The Amazing World of Gumball took home the best writer award at British Academy Children’s Awards.
Anthony Lukom, managing director for Turner UK, says: “Adventure Time and The Amazing World of Gumball are hilarious and unique shows that appeal to audiences the world over. We are so proud of their success and it’s an honor to see that recognised at the British Academy Children’s Awards.”

The Hive in Broadcast Deals

The Hive has landed a number of new terrestrial broadcasters, as distribution company Bejuba! Entertainment secures deals with Rai Yo Yo in Italy, TSR in Switzerland, Medicorp in Singapore, TVNZ in New Zealand, Trevano Pictures in Ukraine, and Prava in Serbia.
Produced by Monumental Productions, Lupus Films and DQ Entertainment, The Hive is already airing on Disney Junior in the UK, the US and in over 150 other countries. Cinedigm DVD’s are launching in major stores in the US this holiday period and early next year.
 ”Seeing the terrestrial broadcasters jump on board is testament to the enduring charm and shelf life this series has,” comments Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos, Vice President Sales, Bejuba! “The characters in the Hive are so entertaining, the scenes are so colourful, and Bridget Hurst’s scripts are outstanding.”
This is the latest in a string of agreements for The Hive – in just the last few months Space Enterprises has brought on board Ravensburger for jigsaws and puzzles, Igloo Books for publishing, Studio Anne Carlton for fridge magnets and Lifeplan for The Hive-branded honey. Other existing UK partners include Mookie for Master Toy and plush, Avanquest for interactive, EMI Publishing, Blues Clothing, Jupiter Toys, and Aykroyds TDP, whilst LeapFrog features The Hive content on its LeapPad children’s learning tablet and the Leapster games console.

New Winx Club Game Due for Release

Winx Fairy School, a new mobile game for iOS and Android devices, is set for release this holiday season.

Based on the Winx Club brand, created by Italy’s Rainbow Studios, Winx Fairy School follows Tsumanga Studio’s Winx Sirenix Power, which has been downloaded more than 1.3 million times since it was released in May. Winx Fairy School is the first Winx game to offer multiplayer gaming, allowing players to play together and share the experience of the fairy school with each other.
The original animated TV series—celebrating its 10th anniversary and now in its sixth season—also has a comprehensive range of branded products including feature films, DVDs, toys, clothing, books, and video games.


Bandai to Launch Tamagotchi Friends

Bandai is set to relaunch the Tamagotchi under the brand Tamagotchi Friends. The company has evolved the product into a multi-platform brand with multi-demographic product lines for next year and beyond. The Tamagotchi Friends brand, supported by new devices, technology, and an immersive portfolio of interactive lifestyle products, will launch globally throughout the spring and fall, beginning with animated webisodes debuting globally in November coincide with Tamagotchi's 17th Birthday.
Bandai first introduced the Tamagotchi 17 years ago, and has since sold more than 79 million units in 44 versions worldwide.
From physical products, including Digital Friends, apparel, apps and more, to the virtual world on social media and at, global visitors will connect with the Tamagotchi Friends characters again. Tamagotchi L.i.f.e debuted in Febuary.
