MCG, Ferrari Sign Exclusive Licensing Agreement

The May Cheong Group (MCG), manufacturers of the die-cast and R/C replica brands Maisto and Bburago, has signed an exclusive, multi-year agreement with Ferrari that grants MCG the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute Ferrari replicas worldwide beginning in January.
MCG has manufactured die-cast vehicle replicas for almost 40 years, and has had a relationship with Ferrari for more than 25 years. MCG acquired Italian die-cast brand Bburago in 2005, which has an even longer relationship with Ferrari and which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.
The launch will include four ranges of products within the Bburago brand: Signature Series, Racing, Race and Play, and Ferrari Kids. More than 100 cars will be launched by summer, and Maisto will continue to offer Ferrari model kits, R/C products, and other die-cast replicas.

got milk? Expands Licensing Program

got milk? will expand its licensing program with the launch of branded packaged snacks manufactured by licensee Got Snacks?, as well as the addition of two new partners, Melville Candy Co. and Diversified Flavor, in the U.S. As the exclusive licensing agency for got milk?, Beanstalk secured the food-based brand extensions with all three partners.
Following a soft launch of got milk? granola and granola bars at Sam’s Clubs in Puerto Rico in September, Got Snacks? will introduce a broader offering of branded packaged snacks at major retailers nationwide early next year that includes cookies, biscuits, wafers, ready-to-eat cereals, and cereal bars.
Rounding out the got milk? experience, Melville Candy Co. launched hot cocoa spoons at Wal-Mart stores on November 1. These wooden, chocolate-coated spoons will make a rich, inviting cup of hot cocoa when combined with a mug of warmed milk, creating a more convenient and fun way to make hot cocoa.
Diversified Flavor will also launch got milk? drinking straws and milk infusers next year. These all-natural drinking straws contain edible, dissolving beads that transform milk into different flavors.

MillerCoors Partners with Brand Licensing Team

Brand Licensing Team (BLT) has signed with MillerCoors to represent the company in its brand licensing effort. The licensing program will be focused on apparel and accessories, drinkware and social entertainment, food, technology and innovation, active lifestyle, home décor, and collectibles. 
The MillerCoors Company, led by Coors Light and Miller Lite beers, offers a variety of craft and import brands, including Blue Moon and Leinenkugel’s, through its Tenth and Blake division.

International Expansion Continues for Toys “R” Us

Toys “R” Us announced its global store growth for this year, which includes approximately 90 stores, including new locations, the relocation of several stores, and 33 licensed stores. The expansion includes 21 countries and territories worldwide.
The new stores include both Toys “R” Us locations and a number of side-by-side formats, which combine Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores. New store sizes vary by country and range from 3,000 to 45,000 square feet.
The company’s most significant expansion plans are in China and Southeast Asia, where it has begun operating several of the 22 planned stores in China and eight new locations in Malaysia. By the end of this year, Toys “R” Us plans to operate 76 stores in 35 cities throughout China.

Shout! Factory to Bring Maya the Bee to North America

Shout FactoryShout! Factory has entered into an agreement with Studio 100 Film, giving the entertainment company exclusive rights to Maya the Bee in the North American market.
Shout! Factory’s new U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to Maya the Bee Movie include theatrical, home entertainment, digital, and broadcast distribution for cross-platform releases. Shout! Factory plans to roll out the film next year in select theaters, as well as on video-on-demand, subscription video-on-demand, electronic sell-through, on television, and in packaged media through Shout! Factory Kids.
Maya the Bee is a worldwide brand first published in book form more than 100 years ago.

Marvel Universe Live! and Unifi Reward Kids for Recycling

MarvelUnifi Inc., in connection with its Repreve recycled fiber brand, has joined with Marvel Universe Live! in a national initiative encouraging children to take responsibility for recycling at home and in their everyday lives.
Repreve and Marvel Universe Live! began the multi-city initiative in Charlotte, N.C., teaming up with Charlotte–Mecklenburg Schools, the Boys and Girls Club of the greater Charlotte area, and Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Division to host a citywide recycling contest.
The recycling contests are part of Repreve’s national #TurnItGreen movement, created to drive awareness about the importance of recycling and the products that can be made from plastic bottles. Additional recycling contests will be held in the coming months near Los Angeles and Portland, Ore.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the greater Charlotte area and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools collected nearly 200,000 plastic bottles within the 10-day recycling challenge, which after being recycled, could create enough Repreve yarn to make 8,000 Repreve-based Patagonia Jackets, 100,000 T-shirts, or 25,000 pairs of pants. Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Division played a major role, ensuring that all bottles collected were recycled correctly.
Performers from the Marvel Universe Live! show will participate in live stunts to celebrate the #TurnItGreen events, culminating in Captain America’s 19-foot vertical motorcycle jump from ground to platform, known as the "Splatter Jump."

DBG Selected as Licensing Representative for Beautyrest

Simmons Bedding Company has named Dimensional Branding Group (DBG) as the North American licensing agency for its Beautyrest and Simmons mattress brands.
DBG's licensing initiative will aim to highlight the Beautyrest brand while extending its sleep, rest, comfort, and technology attributes into new, innovative consumer products and digital extensions. The partnership will focus on sleep and rest product extensions.

KLab to Create Mobile Game Based on Glee

KLab Inc. has entered into a licensing agreement with Fox Digital Entertainment to develop a mobile game based on the Fox TV series, Glee. The free-to-play rhythm game will feature characters and songs from the musical comedy series.
The game will be released early next year on iOS and Android platforms.

Brainstorm Gear Rolls Out M&M-Inspired Cycling Jerseys

M&MsMars Retail Group has partnered with Brainstorm Gear to create a line of M&M’S brand cycling jerseys. Each vibrantly colored jersey is available in a wide range of sizes for men and women, and features the face and personality of the corresponding M&M'S Character—Yellow, Red, Blue, and Ms. Green.
The jerseys help cyclists keep cool through AIRpass-Pro moisture wicking technology and UV protection. Todd ParrOnline retailer will launch a line of Todd Parr-branded products this winter based on the books by the author. Targeted at kids ages 4 to 8, the products will include a series of fine art giclees, which encourage self-acceptance and tolerance of others.

GBI Names PBS Distribution as Home Entertainment Licensing Partner for Baby Genius

Genius Brands International has named PBS Distribution as the home entertainment licensing partner for its Baby Genius library of songs and music videos, as well as new planned content.
Earlier this year, Genius Brands International unveiled updates to the Baby Genius signature characters designed by celebrated artist and self-described professional doodler Todd Goldman as part of an overall brand re-launch that includes new designs, new products, and new entertainment. The company expects to dramatically increase distribution and retail sales of the content at all major retail outlets.


Ribena and AGP Partner for Care Bears Giveaways in Singapore

RibenaConsumers in Singapore who purchase Ribena Cordial will receive a free Care Bears item in a promotional deal with American Greetings Properties (AGP) to further expand the Care Bears brand. The program was brokered by local agent Medialink and will run through December 15. 
Consumers will receive one of three branded gifts when purchasing a one-liter bottle of Ribena Cordial from department, specialty, and convenience stores throughout Singapore. Promotional items include a Care Bears plastic tumbler with straw, a plastic soup plate with fork and spoon, and a plastic bowl with fork and spoon.


Shuffle Line Expands with Three Disney-Themed Games

FrozenCartamundi adds three new Shuffle games to its current line, which combines playing cards and digital technology for an enhanced way to play card games on tablets and smartphones. The games will be Shuffle Disney Frozen, Shuffle Disney/Pixar Cars, and Shuffle Monopoly Deal Disney Edition, bringing the count of Shuffle games to 15.
Shuffle Frozen will be available for delivery to toy shops, gift shops, and supermarkets later this month. Retailers will be able to stock Shuffle Monopoly Deal Disney Edition and Shuffle Disney/Pixar Cars starting in January. Kids can race their cars throughout the city in Shuffle Disney/Pixar Cars, play a matching game in Shuffle Disney Frozen, and collect properties in the form of Disney characters in Shuffle Monopoly Deal Disney Edition.

Topshop Partners with Puffa

Puffa, the iconic British outerwear brand, is enjoying a revival in Europe. Created in 1974 by Penny Rogers after she was inspired by sewing together eiderdown quilts, Puffa became a popular brand in the 70s and 80s.
Puff has now announced its partnership with British retailer Topshop who have united with the brand to exclusively stock key style the ‘Jodie’ both in store and on  in the U.S. and UK. The iconic, metallic jacket is a key piece from the women’s collection and pays homage to the 90s with a throwback reference to the iconic, metallic jacket worn by supermodel Jodie Kidd in her first ever modelling shoot. The ‘Jodie’ proves to be a staple piece of the collection and comes in metallic silver and black. This hero piece has been promoted extensively by Topshop in store, online and through social media.

The brand was re-launched in 2012 through a licensing agreement with Chilli Apparel. 2015 will see Puffa expand beyond the UK, with new international distribution partners Deluxe (Germany), Interjeans (Italy) and Fauster and Blum (France). There are also future plans for distribution in the US, Japan, China and Korea. A recent new agreement with the Flyers Group will see the launch of a Puffa Kids collection in 2015.

DHX and Egmont Team for Teletubbies

TeletubbiesDHX Brands has signed a deal with Egmont Publishing for International rights to produce a range of children’s books and magazines based on the upcoming series of Teletubbies.
The product is set to roll out internationally around Spring/Summer 2016, and will feature a variety of published formats including Teletubbies themed story books, as well as colouring, sticker and activity books, annuals, novelty books and sound books, along with a stand-alone Teletubbies magazine.

Bulldog Partners with Iconic Images

Bulldog Iconic ImagesBulldog Licensing has begun working with Iconic Images. The collaboration aims to ‘break new ground in licensing’, according to the companies, marrying photography to the image rights of some famous names.
Iconic Images owns or represents portfolios of renowned photographers who have captured the biggest names in movies and rock n roll in over six decades – from Marilyn Monroe to Amy Winehouse, from Frank Sinatra to Jimi Hendrix.
It has negotiated image rights with household names such as David Bowie, Faye Dunaway, Frank Sinatra, Raquel Welch, 007 Sir Roger Moore, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Marianne Faithful and others, opening up a unique and never-seen-before catalogue that chronicles the birth of celebrity.

Frozen Sing-Along Fever Coming to UK this Christmas

Disney FrozenIn the lead up to Christmas, fans of Disney’s award winning Frozen will have opportunities to join sing-alongs of the film’s incredibly original songs across the UK. The activity kicked off with one of the UK’s biggest Frozen group sing-alongs taking place in the iconic surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall and will be followed by Frozen sing-alongs across the country over the coming weeks. In addition, the sing-along version will be back in cinemas from 28th November.
Amanda Holden, Jo Whiley, Angela Griffin and Michelle Heaton were amongst thousands of fans who attended the Frozen sing-along at the Royal Albert Hall.
The singing doesn’t stop there. The re-release of the sing-along version of the film on the big screen will see fans throughout the UK back at the cinema enjoying the film. The singing can continue at home too, with the release of the Disney Frozen Sing-Along Edition on DVD and Blu-Ray from 24th November 2014.    Frozen will also be airing on Sky Movies this Christmas.

Paddington Bear Collection Launched by Dreamtex

Dreamtex Ltd has added Paddington to its growing roster of brands.
The licensed textile specialist has created a line of products inspired by everyone’s favourite marmalade-loving bear, in time for the brand new feature film, which launches on the 28th November.
“We’re delighted to announce our recent partnership with Paddington, whose adventures have been entertaining children all over the world for more than 55 years. The latest full length trailer has recently been released which looks fantastic and the celebrity-designed Paddington Trail in London is already generating a lot of interest,” said Commercial Director Andrew Downie.
The collection will comprise of bedding, fleece blankets, towels and cushions with first stock arriving in time for the movie release.

Genius Brands Further Extends Baby Genius

Genius BrandsGenius Brands International has named PBS Distribution as the home entertainment (DVD, CD, and digital) licensing partner for its award-winning Baby Genius library of more than 500 songs and 125 music videos, as well as for new planned. The announcement was made by Amy Moynihan Heyward, President, Genius Brands International, and Debbie Ries, Managing Director of Children’s Distribution for PBS Distribution.
“PBS Distribution is the perfect partner to help us re-launch Baby Genius entertainment and significantly expand retail distribution of its substantial catalogue of songs and videos throughout the U.S. and Canada,” said Moynihan Heyward.  “With our shared commitment to providing quality entertainment, we look forward to reintroducing this quality line of entertainment for toddlers, which will include refreshed content, as well as lots of new material that will be introduced early next year.”

Nelvana Teams with Abominable Snowman for New Series

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana has entered into a development agreement for a new preschool CG animated series, Camp Yeti. Nelvana is teaming up with the newly formed Abominable Snowman, led by Keith Chapman and Ian Liddell from Studio Liddell to develop the 52 x 11-minute series about a summer camp with a yeti twist. Chapman and Liddell have previously worked together on Chapman Entertainment’s preschool hits including Roary the Racing Car and Fifi and the Flowertots.
“We’re excited to be working with Keith Chapman and Ian Liddell on this new series,” said Irene Weibel, Vice President, Head of Nelvana Studio. “Keith has a strong history of creating compelling series that kids love, such as the iconic Bob the Builder, and we know that Camp Yeti will be a world that kids won’t be able to resist.”

Peppa Pig Licensing Program Expands in Germany

Peppa PigEntertainment One Licensing (eOne) has secured a number of agreements in Germany for Peppa Pig.
WDR mediagroup (WDRmg) has been appointed as licensing agent for Peppa Pig in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  The Company will oversee the expansion of the Peppa licensing programme in the region, where the brand is already firmly established and widely known after airing on WDR as well as the children’s channel KiKA.  In a further agreement, WDR has picked up the broadcast rights to series 5 and 6 and also renewed the first two series.
Master toy partner, Big on Toy Innovation (BOTI) released its Peppa toy line in March this year.  New licensing agreements have also been signed with Ravensburger (puzzles, games, activity books), V-Tech (electronic learning) and Simba (construction blocks), bringing the total number of Peppa German licensees to 20. Product is expected to roll-out from spring 2015.

Formation of New IMC/Rubie’s Joint Venture Announced

IMC Toys and Rubie’s have announced the incorporation of their new Italian companies, IMC Italia srl., and Rubie’s Italia srl.
This joint venture follows the success of similar arrangements in other European markets, bringing together the complementary product ranges and management skills of both IMC Toys and Rubie’s to form one trading base. Italy is a key growth market for both companies following a period of solid sales through established distributor networks of their various products. Both companies manufacture and distribute licensed product ranges for global brands such as Disney Princess, Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-man and Mia & me. IMC also has its own product line, called Club Petz, with toys such as Lucy the dog, Blu Blu the dolphin, Caca Max the dog, Kao Kao the Koala and many others.

HIT and Caribu Team Up

Thomas & FriendsCaribu has inked a new deal with HIT Entertainment to bring Thomas & Friends, Angelina Ballerina, Mike the Knight and more into their bookshop.
