Fox’s hip-hop drama Empire and fashion label Hood By Air have partnered to launch Empire-branded merchandise for the first time. Rockpool Licensing Joins Tough Mudder as UK Licensing Agent

Tough Mudder Inc has appointed Rockpool Licensing to represent the challenge and endurance event brand.
Founded only six years ago, two million people have already tackled Tough Mudder courses worldwide. Designed by British Special Forces, the obstacles along the 10-12 mile courses are designed to foster the ultimate in teamwork and camaraderie. As well as engendering a huge sense of personal achievement, over $10M has been raised by participants for charity.

Iconix Brand Appoints Dunn as Vice President of Sales

Carolann Dunn has been appointed to the newly created role of vice president of sales for Peanuts Worldwide and the Iconix Brand Group’s Entertainment Division. 
In her new role, Dunn will oversee licensing sales operations and execute revenue-generating strategies in the U.S. across multiple categories, including toys, games, apparel, accessories, health and beauty, gift, collectibles, home décor, stationery, and food. In less than two years, Dunn has expanded the roster of world-class Peanuts licensees to include all Laundry Detergent, Teleflora, Nestlé, Johnson & Johnson, Williams Sonoma, and American Greetings.
Dunn was also instrumental in establishing Peanuts’ presence amongst many major retailers by leveraging The Peanuts Movie by Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios, which was released on November 6.
Previously, Dunn ran her own licensing agency Creative Properties, where she served as the principal and worked on properties such as Disney’s Club Penguin and Girl Scouts of the USA. 

Burlee Australia Set to Beam in Star Trek

Australian company Burlee Australia has announced a worldwide brand collaboration with CBS Consumer Products to celebrate next year’s 50th Anniversary of Star Trek.
K F &S Pty Ltd, owner of the UGG since 1974 brand and now Burlee Australia, are launching a range of custom made, 100% Australian sheepskin boots into the international market.
Under license by CBS Consumer Products, the collaboration is to design and manufacture a limited edition range of Star Trek sheepskin boots. 

DHX Media Extends Presence in China with Two New SVOD Deals 

DHX Media has signed two non-exclusive content distribution deals with SVOD operators in China. China’s leading online entertainment platform IQiyi has acquired AVOD and SVOD rights to more than 400 half-hours of content, including Teletubbies, Paddington, and Caillou.
In an additional deal, online video company LeTV has acquired OTT TV (Smart TV and set top box) and web broadcast rights to 313 half-hours of Teletubbies in English and Mandarin.  
Teletubbies was the first western preschool property to air in China on CCTV reaching an audience of 300 million children and the first to open its own Skills Development Centre in 2006. It also has an impressive roster of licensees in the territory, including Phoenix and Hangzhou- Z-Shine.

Tiggly and Sesame Workshop Create New Educational App

Sesame Workshop and Tiggly released a new app Sesame Street Alphabet Kitchen that bridges the physical and digital play divide.
Children can now play with Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster and their favorite Tiggly toys. With an engaging original storyline, new animated video developed specifically for the app, and tactile play enabled with Tiggly Words, the app is an engaging educational experience for young learners.
Sesame Street Alphabet Kitchen will be available on November 26 for download on the Apple Store for $2.99, and available for free as part of the Tiggly Words Learning System. 

The Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards Is Now Open for Entries

The inaugural Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards are now open for entries.
Set to break new ground in recognising the dynamism and growth of brand licensing, these annual awards will reward excellence in brand licensed merchandise, IP management as well as retail execution.
The entire entry and nomination process for the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards will be via online submission. This has now gone live with all forms accessed from the dedicated website ( The deadline for entering is 3 February 2016, following which a validation process for each of the awards sections will ensue, involving panels of industry experts.
Launched by Max Publishing (which has a pedigree in both licensing and awards, exemplified by the UK Licensing Awards and the Licensing Source Book), the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards have been welcomed by the industry.
Brand Licensing Europe was quick to commit to become the headline sponsor of the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards.
Worldwide licensing trade association, LIMA also had no hesitation in its support for Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards. Petco Launches Dr. Seuss Pet Fans Collection

Petco, in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises L.P., has launched the Dr. Seuss Pet Fans Collection, a new line of pet accessories and toys based on Dr. Seuss characters, including The Grinch, The Cat in the Hat, and Thing 1 and Thing 2. The line is available now only at and at Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores nationwide. The new collection features an assortment of fantastical dog and cat products inspired by some of Dr. Seuss’s most popular children’s books.
For pet parents who want to give their dogs a Dr. Seuss makeover, Petco’s grooming salons will offer a Dr. Seuss spa package beginning November 27, including custom shampoo, conditioner, a scented spritz, fashion pawlish, and a special Dr. Seuss accessory. Star Wars in Fashion Fundraising Deal

In celebration of Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney Consumer Products and Bloomingdale's are joining forces with an illustrious group of designers in a new fashion-meets-fundraising initiative, “Force 4 Fashion.”
Taking inspiration from the film’s costume designer, Michael Kaplan, fashion favorites Cynthia Rowley, Diane von Furstenberg, Giles Deacon, Halston, Opening Ceremony, Ovadia & Sons, Parker, Rag & Bone, Timo Weiland and Todd Snyder are each creating an outfit to be auctioned for charity that pays homage to characters from the new movie.
“This collaboration celebrates the distinctive synergy between film and fashion in the run up to an exceptional moment in the history of pop culture. We’re excited to see how this incredible lineup of designers interpret Star Wars characters in unique ways, as well as to raise money for a great cause,” said Leslie Ferraro, Co-Chair, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media and President, Disney Consumer Products.

Anya Hindmarch, 7UP Partner to Create Limited-Edition Designer Clutch

Luxury accessories designer Anya Hindmarch has partnered with 7UP to design a clutch that pays homage to the 7UP lemon-lime beverage. 

The clutch debuted at Hindmarch’s Spring/Summer show during the London Fashion Week. The clutch is a meticulously crafted, metallic leather purse inspired by the ’80s sports aesthetic. The 7UP logo is embossed onto metallic capra leather for a chic and retro statement.

The limited-edition 7UP clutch is available now for pre-order at, and will be available for purchase at Anya Hindmarch stores across the world and other retailers globally starting next March. 

Character World Announces New Sourcing Director

Character World has appointed Gavin Thomson as Sourcing Director, based in Shanghai. 
Gavin joins Character World after roles in sourcing and operations at several Hong Kong based firms including Li & Fung fashion, LF Asia, The Just Group as well as Woolworths. At Character World he will be responsible for developing relationships with suppliers worldwide.
The appointment comes at a key time for the Cheadle-based business as it continues its ambitious international growth.
The business, which manufacturers licensed duvet sets and bedroom accessories has secured a number of lucrative Pan-European contracts with global licensors over the last two years including Disney, Marvel and Lego as they continue their international growth plans.

TKO, AFG Partner for Women’s Active Wear and Loungewear 

Technical Knockout Inc. (TKO) has signed a licensing deal with Ambrosia Fashion Group LLC (AFG) for women’s active wear and loungewear. AFG will introduce a mix of fashion, functionality, athletic looks, and leisure in the designs to inspire the $41 billion market it is targeting. 

The new TKO collection will maintain the ultra-technical aesthetics in line with the studio-to-street-wear trend in active and lifestyle apparel. The collection will include tops, bottoms, jackets, and vests with a modern approach to color, fabrics, fit, fashion, and detailing and will launch next spring. 

Dubai-Biyaya Media Partners with ALC for Iftah Ya Simsim

Dubai-Biyaya Media has named Arabian Licensing Company (ALC) as its master licensing representative for Iftah Ya Simsim for the UAE, GCC and Middle East. ACL will be responsible for developing a full-scale licensing program featuring a wide range of products and retail promotions.  ACL has also formed a Saudi-Emirati alliance with Headline Communications to handle the licensing for Saudi Arabia. 
“We are proud to represent Iftah Ya Simsim, which is part of the global Sesame Street family that provides engaging educational content to enrich the lives of children around the world,” said Fayez Weiss Al-Sabbagh, Chairman of ALC. Tthe Alliance took part in the Dubai International Content & Licensing Fair that was held this month.

Disney Junior Latin America Aquires Tip the Mouse from m4e

m4e AG has finalized a broadcasting agreement for its preschool series “Tip the Mouse” (52 x 7’) with Buena Vista International, Inc. for all Latin American territories including Brazil. The deal was negotiated at Mipcom and grants Disney Junior Latin America exclusive Pay TV and basic subscription TV-rights. Launch dates for the respective markets are to be announced.
“Following the successful broadcasts of “Tip the Mouse” in Europe and many other territories, we are very happy that Disney Junior Latin America has picked up this preschool property for Latin America and especially Brazil – important markets where we now can proceed to establish the series as a preschool brand,” says Jo Daris, Head of Operations at m4e AG.

MCM Group Awarded National Garfield License for Children Experience Centers in China

MCM Group has been awarded the National Master License Rights for the exclusive development of Garfield Children Education and Activity Centers throughout China, by Paws, Inc.  The Centers are branded as Garfield World.

Lawless in Deal with National Breast Cancer Foundation on Behalf of Suzy’s Zoo

Lawless Entertainment has announced the conclusion of a deal with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) on behalf of Suzy’s Zoo. 
This new partnership will include a promotion in which Suzy’s Zoo donates a portion of their revenues for a specific period of time to support NBCF, in support of their fundraising efforts. 
NBCF’s mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.

Unit10 and Rastamouse Join Forces

Unit10 Eventive has secured the rights for face to face and mini-show events featuring  Rastamouse - star of the CBeebies animated series and the popular book series created by Genevieve Webster and Michael De Souza. The deal was reached at Brand Licensing Europe [BLE] in London’s Olympia.
Unit10’s Managing Director Mike Taylor said: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with the Rastamouse Company and are looking forward to working with this exciting brand. We have some great ideas to increase the visibility of the property within our client base, who are always seeking branded, family friendly content for their customers.”
The company’s first outing with Rastamouse and Da Easy Crew will be in November and Unit10 aims to build upon the brand and expand the range of Rastamouse events and activities into 2016 and beyond.
