UYoung, Mattel Announce Global Toy Deal for Battleclaw

UYoung signed a deal with Mattel to be the global master toy partner for its new boys’ action series BattleClaw. The deal marks the first time a Chinese property has signed a global master toy license and also the first time such a license will have its worldwide launch in China.
The series targets boys ages 6 to 10 and is set to launch on Chinese state broadcaster CCTV this month.
Mattel will manufacture, distribute, and market a wide variety of toys and consumer products, as well as manage the global licensing and merchandising for the property.

Brand Central Signs Video Social Network as Exclusive Licensing Agency, the video social network, announced that it has selected branding and licensing agency Brand Central LLC to develop a full scale consumer products program based on the popular music platform. is a platform for creating, sharing and discovering short videos. Jazwares Selected as Master Toy Licensee for Miffy and Friends

Big Tent Entertainment, the North American licensing agent for Mercis’ Miffy and Friends, has appointed Jazwares as master toy licensee for Miffy and Friends. Available in fall 2017, the Miffy toy line will include figures, vehicles, play sets, and plush.

Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and Cartoon Network Enterprises partnered with WeLoveFine to launch a Robot Chicken merchandise collection. The line will feature an assortment of T-shirts and other branded items to be sold online, at conventions, and at select retailers.
The Bitch Pudding Fan Forge gives artists the opportunity to submit fan art for a chance to have their art officially licensed and produced into merchandise and to earn commission on every unit sold. For the launch of the first set of fan art merchandise, Robot Chicken creators will choose their favorite designs to be made into T-shirts. eOne, Sesame Workshop Partner for Vinyl Release of Sesame Road

Entertainment One and Sesame Workshop will have a limited release of Sesame Road, exclusively for Record Store Day 2016 this month. The run of 2,000 pieces will mark the first time the album will be available on vinyl. Sesame Road was first released on cassette by Golden Music in 1993 and on CD by Sony Wonder in 1995. 
The cover art of Sesame Road is a parody of the classic Beatles album Abbey Road, and features parodies of tracks such as “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” “Hey Jude,” “With A Little Help From My Friends,” and “Rebel Yell.”

Ink & Salt, Care Bears Partner for American Sign Language Learning App

Ink & Salt partnered with American Greetings to design an app for kids to learn American Sign Language (ASL) with themes that incorporate the Care Bears.
ASL with Care Bears helps children learn sign language and chat with deaf friends. The app makes learning a visual language fun through sayings and phrases. ASL with Care Bears is free to download and is available on iPhones and iPads with iOS 8.0.

eOne Unveils First Partners Signed to PJ Masks UK Licensing Program

Entertainment One (eOne) announces its first raft of UK licensing partners for its hit preschool animated superhero TV show, PJ Masks.
PJ Masks launched on the 24-hour preschool Disney Junior channel in the UK during February 2016 and is already proving to be a hit with both girls and boys aged 3-6 years. The show consistently features in the channel’s top 5 rated series and as a result, Disney Junior has increased PJ Masks airtime to multiple prime-slots daily Monday through to Sunday.
Now, to meet the growing consumer demand in the UK, eOne is currently gearing up to the launch of the market’s PJ Masks licensing programme, targeting boys aged 4-6 years. The roll out will be spearheaded by Flair's Just Play division, which will distribute the brand’s master global toy line from February 2017. The initial range to hit shelves includes plush, vehicles, action figures and dress-up.
The PJ Masks UK merchandise offering will then be significantly bolstered in AW17 as publishing and apparel merchandise debuts at mass-market UK retail.

Spin Master Debuts Masha and the Bear Toy Line

Spin Master Corp. launched new licensed toys based on the animated series Masha and the Bear. The line will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us in the U.S. and Canada. Masha and the Bear streams on Netflix in the U.S. and airs on Teletoon in Canada. Spin Master's Masha and the Bear includes plush toys, soft dolls, and a play set.

Beyblade Burst to Launch on Disney XD in December

The new animated series Beyblade Burst will premiere on Disney XD in December. New episodes will premiere each day starting Dec. 19 through Dec. 31 for a total of 11 new episodes, with a repeat telecast each day.
Beyblade Burst is the third generation of the global Beyblade franchise and follows the adventures of a group of passionate Bladers who follow their dreams on an unforgettable journey to the top. This new generation of the franchise features themes of real sports,
Competition, and friendship.
The series will move to its regular timeslot on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. in January with repeat episodes airing throughout each week. Beyblade Burst will also be available through Disney XD’s digital platforms. Hasbro will launch the new Beyblade Burst product line in the U.S. beginning this January. The toys feature a dynamic “burst” feature designed to bring more excitement to the battling play pattern.

Work Begins on Flagship LFC Super Store at Anfield

Work on Liverpool FC’s new flagship Anfield Stadium store will start next week, with contractors arriving on site to begin construction on the two-storey development. 
The store will offer fans a premium shopping experience with exclusive product ranges, a specially designed first floor café - that will open on both match days and non-match days, and an increased number of payment stations to ease checkout congestion on match days.
With 19,500 square foot of floor space, the new store will be four times the size of the current Anfield store and will incorporate a brand new LFC store design concept. The colour scheme and materials will take inspiration from the architecture of Anfield and will incorporate design references from the original and current Kop as well as the expanded Main Stand.

DHX Media Licenses Over 2,400 Half-Hours of Kids’ Content to China VOD Services

DHX Media has licensed more than 2,400 half-hours of preschool and kids’ content across five video-on-demand (VOD) services in China. The deals cover 19 series, including classic Teletubbies, Caillou, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Twirlywoos, Inspector Gadget, Super WHY! and Messy Goes to OKIDO.
Shanghai Media Group has licensed a slate of 986 half-hours for its Best TV and SiTV platforms, while SVOD service Mango has taken 468 half-hours of shows. In further deals, PPLive has picked up 519 half-hours for its SVOD service, and Youku Tudou has licensed 390 half-hours. In addition, iQiyi has added 51 half-hours to complement the 400 half-hours of DHX Media content already airing on its platform.

The ideal candidate will possess experience within either Toy AND/OR Publishing licensing experience.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Creates strategic direction for active licensee base and negotiates new partnerships within assigned categories to achieve growth objectives.   Directs tactical execution of licensed product lines from concept/line plan through commercialization.  


  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments
    • Set trend direction and make recommendations for new product entry
    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions
    • Ensure adherence to internal approval process (i.e. safety, quality, financial, legal, content, creative, consumer activation, consumer affairs etc.) and assist in resolving issues.
  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies
    • Research, secure and develop new licensees building upon the success of existing segments in order to achieve predictable, profitable and sustainable growth
    • Negotiate deal terms including: grant of rights, royalty rates, guarantees, projections and business plans
  • 7 years’ experience in licensing or consumer marketing work for a CPG company.

I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
