Mattel’s Ever After High Global Launch

Mattel’s newest tween property Ever After High is available in 14 countries and will continue to roll out to more than 30 territories in the next year. The brand has already seen publishing and consumer product successes with the novel The Storybook of Legends, written by Shannon Hale, and products including branded apparel, accessories, stationery, and electronics with more rollouts to come next year. The property is also supported by an immersive digital experience, including a website, EverAfterHigh.com, a global Facebook page, and a YouTube channel.


Samsung and NBA Announce Game-Changing Partnership
 

Samsung Telecommunications America LLC and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have developed a multi-year marketing and technology partnership to enhance both the game and fan experience. Samsung is officially the handset, tablet, and TV provider of the NBA, WNBA, and NBA D-League and will reach fans of all three leagues through marquee league events, TV and digital exposure, and customized content available on Samsung devices. The collaboration will be Samsung’s most extensive partnership with a North American sports league and the NBA’s most extensive partnership with a consumer electronics company.
 
For the first time, NBA referees will be provided with Samsung tablets and will use Samsung technology courtside in all NBA arenas to review key plays. Samsung technology will also be included in league events, including NBA All-Star, the NBA Playoffs, the Finals, and the NBA Draft presented by State Farm. Samsung and the NBA will also offer a range of NBA content, including NBA League Pass (on an authenticated basis for those already subscribing to the league’s live-game product), daily video recaps of games, expert analysis and commentary, NBA TV’s NBA Inside Stuff, and more.
 
Additionally, Samsung will serve as the title partner for the NBA’s Summer League and the WNBA Performance Awards, and will be an associate partner of NBA All-Star Jam Session, the 2014 Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, and the NBA Draft. Samsung will also be the presenting partner of NBA TV’s NBA Inside Stuff, and the NBA D-League Showcase.

Warner Bros. Partners with Schleich for DC Comics Figurines

Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, has partnered with figurine manufacturer Schleich for a new line of figurines based on DC Comics Super Heroes, including Batman, Superman, and the Green Lantern, to launch in January 2015. The deal was brokered by Schleich’s licensing agency All American Licensing & Management Group (AALMG).


Big Tent Partners with Brainstorm for Domo Kites and Glass Sculptures

Big Tent Entertainment continues to build its Domo brand globally with a new long-term deal with Brainstorm for branded kites and glass figurines. Under terms of the latest agreement, Domo will be integrated into Brainstorm’s XKites and WindNSun brand names for a line of kites, windsocks, and string holders that will bring Domo to the active play category. Additionally, collectible miniature glass sculptures of Domo will be sold under the Looking Glass and Glass World brands. The product lines will be available in the U.S. at stationery, department, grocery, specialty, and drug stores, along with TV shopping networks and Internet retailers, including Brainstorm’s retail websites.


Marvel Entertainment’s New Deals in Food and Health Aids for Avengers Franchise

DollhouseMarvel Entertainment LLC has signed multiple deals to bring the Avengers brand into the food and oral health aids categories with products expected to hit shelves throughout this year and next year. 

 
Perdue has launched chicken tenders in special Avengers packaging with character biographies and fun facts this month at Target and will roll out to other major retailers later this year. In addition, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble has partnered with Nabisco Cheese Nips and Honey Maid Graham Crackers. Available next February, Nabisco’s Cheese Nips will feature Avengers icons, including Captain America’s shield, Iron Man’s Mask, Hulk’s Fist and the Avengers “A” symbol. Cheese Nips and Honey Maid Chocolate Graham Crackers will feature Avengers-themed games on their packaging. 
 

 
Marvel has also signed deals with Langers Juice for Avengers Assemble juice pouches, bottles, and boxes; and with Crunch Pak Snackers apples, pretzels, and cheese. Kellogg’s continues to be a partner in the snacks category with Avengers-inspired fruit snacks.
 
Marvel has also collaborated with DenTek and Listerine Brand for Avengers-branded floss picks and mouthwash currently available at Walmart and Kmart. Listerine Brand will launch Avengers Assemble branded anti-cavity mouthwash in January in a special Mint Shield flavor.


USA Curling and Denali in Deal

USA Curling and Denali Throws have signed a licensing agreement for the production of curling-themed blankets and other related merchandise. RJM Licensing brokered the deal.
 
Denali Throws will create a line of curling blankets for fans of the winter Olympic sport. One of several blanket options includes a design by 2006 Olympian and a design by 2014 Olympic hopeful Cassie Potter of St. Paul, Minn.

EUROPE

41 Entertainment Announces Launch Strategy for Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures

41 Entertainment and its UK licensing agent Lisle International have strategically planned to launch Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures property in the UK. The TV series, including seasons one and two, will launch on SKY’s stereoscopic 3-D channel and on Disney XD’s 2-D platform. Burger King will have premiums in its restaurants and Bandai will launch its master toy line in the beginning of next year.
 
Additionally, Namco Bandai Games UK will launch the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures video game on multi-platforms, Blues will launch apparel, VMC Accessories will launch fashion accessories, K’NEX will launch construction toys, Giromax will launch trading cards and stickers, Titan will launch the official Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures magazine throughout the spring and summer of next year, and Pedegree will launch an annual.

Studio 100 Secures Deal with PPI Worldwide

Studio 100 International has signed a new deal with PPI Worldwide to create new promotional campaigns in CEE for its animation property Maya the Bee, which recently launched in Poland and the Czech Republic.
 
The new license agreement with PPI Worldwide, a marketing solutions agency, will see Maya the Bee promotional activities focused within retail and FMCG companies in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Ex-Yugoslavia, including Slovenia.
 
Studio100 International has previously worked closely with M&AD Poland (part of PPI Group) and with PPI Worldwide, having produced more than 6 million Maya the Bee figurines for successful joint promotions with EMTE Supermarkets in the Benelux earlier this year.
 
Studio 100 International has extended the co-operation with PPI following the launch of CGI Maya the Bee in CEE, where Maya is already a well-known character. The two companies will combine their experience to find new partners and organize creative promotions for the CGI-animated series, which has already been sold to 134 countries worldwide and has more than 300 licensees.

Mask-arade Signs Little Mix and Union J Deals

Following on from the release of its One Direction licensed product range, Mask-arade has secured official licenses for Little Mix and Union J.
 
Mask-arade’s Licensing Director Ray Duffy is excited about the new ranges, “We see this as a massive addition to our licensed product portfolio, Little Mix and Union J are the hottest properties around in the pop world and if sales are anywhere near what we have experienced with One Direction, then 2014 is going to be one hell of year for Mask-arade.”


Planeta Junior Signs Museum Masters International

Planeta Junior has announced its new and exclusive association with Museum Masters International (MMI) for representation in Italy, Italian Switzerland, San Marino, Vatican State and Malta of Bernard of Hollywood’s Hollywood Legends, Cinema Beauties, Pin Up Girls.
 
Bruno Bernard who escaped Nazi Germany and began his studio in the 1940s pioneered the “Pin-Up” industry and his photos span from 1946 where he photographed young starlets who later became famous superstars of cinema. Susan Bernard, daughter of Bruno Bernard, founded Bernard of Hollywood Publishing / Renaissance Road Inc. shortly after her father’s passing in 1987 to keep her father’s legacy alive.


Zodiak Rights Makes Scripted Hire
 

Caroline Torrance is set to join Zodiak Rights as its head of international scripted.
 
Torrance will spearhead Zodiak’s ambitions in the international scripted arena, leading Zodiak Rights’ dedicated scripted sales team in Paris and working with in-house and external producers worldwide to develop international drama and comedy co-production hits.
 
Torrance was previously the director of scripted, content, and production for BBC Worldwide, where she was responsible for its global content and acquisition strategy, including the acquisition of both BBC in-house and independent productions.

Torrance brings with her experience in similar roles at Endemol, Granada, and most recently BBC Worldwide, where she has been key in the successful development of international co-pro projects.


Moshi Monsters Helps Children in Need

Mind Candy will support BBC Children in Need this year through a partnership with its children’s brand Moshi Monsters, raising £100,000 via the Moshi Foundation and a limited edition collector’s tin.
 
To help celebrate the partnership, characters from Moshi Monsters Poppet and Katsuma have visited Pudsey to be presented with the famous multi-colored spotty bandana for a photo shoot at the home of BBC Children in Need – the Media Centre, White City.
 
The activity was kicked off earlier this month when Pudsey stopped by Moshi headquarters for a special broadcast, which aired on CBBC’s Newsround. The BBC Children in Need Mascot was seen exploring Moshi headquarters and was made available to be bought in game on MoshiMonsters.com, where players can purchase the famous bear with their in-game currency (Rox). Alongside this as part of the partnership, Mind Candy and Vivid Toy Group have created 30,000 limited edition Spotty Moshlings Collectors Tins, with £3 of each sale going direct to the charity fundraiser.

Puffin to Publish Range of Disney Infinity Titles

Puffin is set to publish a range of titles for Disney Infinity, including the official guidebook, an activity guide, sticker books, and further innovative gift formats that tie-in directly with the video game.
 
The range will launch in March with a series of activity books including an Official Sticker Book. The Official Guide to the game is scheduled for release in May and an annual is planned for August. Puffin will work closely with the Disney team—especially the game developers—and is set to launch a number of titles throughout next year and beyond. 


Tung Toos Coming to Britain

RoBel Confectionery, the new division of RoBel Consultancy founded by licensing Victoria Lebor, has announced the arrival of Tung Toos in Britain, the flavored tongue tattoo sweets. RoBel will exclusively distribute the confectionery, which will reach UK retail outlets in January.
 
With a number of retailers and brands already signed up for the UK launch, RoBel Confectionery is offering opportunities to other brands across the entertainment spectrum to link up with a multi-million dollar selling product that is about to repeat its American success in the vast UK market.


Talking Tom to Star in New App

Outfit7 is celebrating its 4th birthday with the release of a trailer to announce the arrival of its most creative and interactive app starring its best known character Talking Tom. 
 
My Talking Tom will launch worldwide on all platforms on November 14. With 1.2 billion downloads of the Talking Tom and Friends franchise to date, this new app will offer more unique content and entertainment to the brand’s 170 million monthly active users globally.
 
“We are constantly listening to our loyal fans to make our flagship product even more engaging. Inaugural Kids India Attracts Exhibitors from 16 Countries

The inaugural Kids India, held from October 24 through 26, saw the attendance of more than 100 national and international toy manufacturers. Sixteen companies from Germany, Great Britain, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Poland, and the Czech Republic exhibited in the World of Toys Pavilion by Spielwarenmesse eG. Kids India was organized by Spielwarenmesse eG in cooperation with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) and was also supported by the Sports Goods Export Promotion Council (SGEPC) and The All India Toy Manufacturers’ Association (TAITMA).

AFRICA

Everything’s Rosie Signs South African Deals

V&S Entertainment, producer and licensor of Everything’s Rosie, has appointed Jacques Hau to produce Everything’s Rosie apparel and Universal (Zoom) to produce footwear and accessories in South Africa.
 
Product development is at an advanced stage with confirmed listings at retailer Woolworths. The Jacques Hau license includes pajama sets, tops, and leggings, while Universal will develop a range of footwear in addition to backpacks, tote bags, and umbrellas.
 
Graham Stephen, Director of CLM, V&S Entertainment’s appointed licensing Agent in South Africa comments, “We are thrilled to have Jacques Hau and Universal on board with Rosie. Both companies are big supporters of character licensing in South Africa and we are certain that the product they have developed will do this beautiful property justice. The first range will be delivered to Woolworths stores in October and we look forward to great sell thrus and a Rosie future.”

Fifty Shades Lingerie Launches at Target Australia

Fifty Shades of Grey continues to expand its licensing campaign with the launch of the official Fifty Shades of Grey lingerie collection, available exclusively at Target in Australia. 
 
Target is supporting this key launch with a marketing and PR campaign, incorporating outdoor, online, and print advertising featuring evocative photography, which captures the nature of the brand, along with in-store point of sale.
 
“The Fifty Shades of Grey collection delivers a high quality line of lingerie that reflects our affordable and accessible prices. Nerd Corps Inks International Slugterra Deals

Nerd Corps Entertainment has signed new licensing deals for Slugterra in territories including Italy, Latin America, Russia, Turkey, Israel, and South Africa. In Italy, Nerd Corps licensing agent Discovery Media has signed Gedis S.R.L. for trading cards and stickers while the Jakks Pacific toy line is set for launch next year through distributor Giochi Preziosi. In Latin America, Nerd Corps’ agent Compañia Panamericana de Licencias has signed Panini for trading cards and stickers. In Russia, Megalicense has signed Apps Ministry to develop and produce a new iOS game Slug it Out! for worldwide distribution, while toys have launched through distributor Saks Igrushki. In Turkey, Istanbul Lisans has signed on as Nerd Corps’ agent for Slugterra, Hakan Canta and Keskincolor have signed for back-to-school merchandise, and Ottonya will distribute Slugterra toys across the region. In Israel, Brand Is Real has signed Soshi Zohar for Slugterra costumes and dress-up products. In South Africa, agent Character Licensing & Marketing has signed David Gresham Records for Slugterra home video.
In addition to new product deals, the Slugterra series now airs on K2 (Italy), TNT (Russia), Disney XD and free TV on the Disney Channel (Turkey), and Disney XD (South Africa).


Octonauts Partners with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research

Silvergate Media’s Octonauts has partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OEA) to jointly raise awareness of ocean exploration and science and advance NOAA’s ocean mission.  
 
The association with NOAA and its team of marine biologists, geologists, engineers, and other experts at OER, described in a letter of intent signed by NOAA and Silvergate, will further Octonauts’s commitment to ensuring that the series is grounded in scientific discovery and true-to-life exploration of the natural world. For NOAA, the possibility of teaming with Octonauts will enable the organization to expand its demographic base and help develop the next generation of protectors of the oceans. 
 

 
Together, the team intends to participate at events at aquaria and other venues; collaborate on new products such as games, toys, and apps; share communications via social media and other platforms; and develop educational materials and educational outreach programs.
