Discovery Consumer Products and Paladone Products Ltd. have expanded their partnership to launch a range of Discovery Channel-branded interactive gifts and gadgets to be sold in the UK and Europe starting in April.

The science and nature-themed product line, includes a vibrating robot, a smartphone microscope, kinetic sand, blow rockets, a stunt plane set, gadgets, and build-your-own items such as a 3-D space shuttle, a balloon-powered hovercraft, a globe, and a rubber band dragster. Paladone is also introducing a constructible 3-D shark anatomy model to celebrate Shark Week.

Octane5 Lands Moomin

Octane5 has been selected by Moomin for a global implementation of its Brand Comply Licensing Management System. This new contract reflects Octane5’s further expansion into Europe with its recent announcement of a new London operation and growth to its already significant base of business in the region.
“The Moomin opportunity is a wonderful step in the expansion of our presence in the entertainment and publishing arena”, said Mike Dunn, Chief Brand Officer, “as well as a further validation of our unique user model that insures the highest adoption rates amongst our users, worldwide”. Dunn added. “Moomin will be implementing the system across its base of licensees throughout the world and be utilizing our full licensing approvals and contract systems in multiple languages” Dunn stated.

implement it in the business” said Pekka Halonen, Webmaster. “Our selection of Octane5 came following an exhaustive search and RFP process. We were very satisfied that Octane5’s extensive client list of major licensing companies and successful implementations was a real validation of our choice.”

ITVS GE Partners with Miniclip

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has entered a global partnership with Miniclip for action-adventure series Thunderbirds Are Go.
A Thunderbirds Are Go mobile game, based on visuals from the TV series, will launch next year for iOS and Android platforms. Current key markets for the brand include the UK, Eire, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan and ITVS GE is planning to debut the series in the Middle East, Israel, Europe, and America with new episodes launching this fall. 

Smiley Sees Strong Interest at BLE for New Kids TV Series

Smiley Kids, the foray into animated kids TV by Smiley, was showcased at BLE 2015. Major international licensees in the toy, publishing and promotional industries also saw a sneak preview of a completely new range of products and style guides that Smiley are currently developing to complement the TV series release. There are already a host of new deals in discussion with some of the biggest players in the licensing industry, who are all receptive to the work being done by the brand in exploring emotions, early stage development and emotional intelligence in line with the series release.
An animation teaser of the TV series that sees the evolution of Smiley characters into a fascinating universe of comedy and adventure was available to view at the Smiley stand.
This aspirational kids TV show that targets the upper pre-school audience and highlights today’s major trend for happiness will also provide a unique opportunity to help kids understand the diverse range of emotions they will encounter in life, whilst always emphasizing on the positive.
Smiley Kids will create a platform for Smiley to open pre-school kids to the concept of emotional Intelligence (EQ) through a variety of multi-media platforms and licensing opportunities that will include TV, digital, toys and publishing.
This exciting show boasts a strong team that includes production by OuiDO! Productions (ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, Monchhichi, Sonic Boom), exclusive distribution through PGS (Iron Man, Playmobil, Le Petit Prince) and editorial by Theresa Plummer-Andrews, former Head of Acquisitions, Animation and Co-Productions for CBBC and CBeebies.
Smiley are also partnering on this project with Dacher Keltner, who is an expert in the field of emotional intelligence and a professor of psychology at the University of California and is most famous for his best-selling books “Born to Be Good” and “The Science of a Meaningful Life”.

GBI and A Squared Entertainment Partner with BBW

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) and A Squared Entertainment, the licensing agent for Celessence Technologies, have finalized a global licensing deal with Build-A-Bear Workshop (BBW) and a North American agreement with Kittrich Corporation.


Build-A-Bear Workshop will introduce a line of scented plush bears, apparel, and accessories for Valentine’s Day in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, the Middle East, and Mexico using Celessence Technologies.


Kittrich Corporation has also signed a deal to apply Celessence’s scent delivery system to a range of scent infused stationery, housewares, closet, and laundry products to be launched next year.

Mentos and Chupa Chups Creating ‘Sweet’ Business Vibes

This year Perfetti van Melle showcased its brands Mentos, Chupa Chups, Airheads and Frisk in full at Brand Licensing Europe 2015. The brands offer an opportunity to take fun and taste both to lifestyle-oriented products as to food and beverage novelties.
Beanstalk is in charge of managing these extensions with companies who can build strategic partnerships to take Mentos, Chupa Chups and Airheads into selected food categories.
Chupa Chups has already teamed up for a launch of an ice-cream novelty with a huge ice cream giant in the European market.
At BLE, Chupa Chups and Mentos released the preview of their new artworks that will be launched in 2016.

Jam Brands to License Garfield in Canada

Paws Inc. has selected Jam Brands as the exclusive licensing agency for multi-generational brand Garfield in Canada. With more than 135 million books sold, two movies, a new TV series, and presence in 111 countries over 35 years, Garfield has emerged as a strong franchise. Jam Brands will build on Garfield’s popularity and will reach out to prospective licensing partners to ensure its spread.

The Penguins of Madagascar Star in Play’s Campaign

Planeta Junior, on behalf of DreamWorks Animation, has signed a licence with Play, a telecommunications provider with over 13 million users in Poland, for The Penguins of Madagascar. Play recently launched a campaign starring the adventurous Penguins of Madagascar to promote its new product for children: the Junior Box, which includes toys based on the popular DreamWorks Animation characters.
The Penguins of Madagascar feature in Play’s adverts on all major Polish TV broadcasters and themed TV stations, as well as on outdoor advertising, in the press, online, radio and at points of sale.

Laura Ashley Partners Cudlie Accessories to Expand Children’s Line

Laura Ashley has partnered with Cudlie Accessories to launch a product line for babies including apparel diaper bags, blankets, handbags, backpacks, luggage, and sweaters for girls.

The collection will be launched at specialty stores, department stores, and online at this fall.

Winx Club Takes On Thailand

Winx Club is set to hit screens across Thailand. JKN Channel - a leading Satellite TV – will debut the animation from October.
The channel will broadcast Winx Club series four from October, which will be the first time the show has ever been seen on Thai screens. This will add to an existing global audience of millions, who enjoy Winx Club’s signature mixture of family-friendly storylines, fashionable themes and beautiful animation. The show follows the adventures of a group of young fairies and combines action and adventure with comedy, appealing to girls from 4 to 10 right up to tween/teen.

Rastamouse Celebrating Successful BLE with New Deals

With a five year anniversary just around the corner Rastamouse is celebrating early after a successful BLE to announce new deals, new partnerships and renewals of existing licenses.
Music continues to form a huge part of Rastamouse life and the musical mouse is back in the recording studio with Da Easy Crew and Andrew Kingslow to lay down some 'bangin’ grooves’ as part of a new album deal with Demon Records.  The deal sees the re-launch of the first Rastamouse album in spring 2016 and a second album of original songs to be released during summer 2016.
In other crucial news, Rastamouse is also proud to reveal a new five year deal with the BBC to relicense the first 52 television episodes which premiered on the CBeebies channel in January 2011 and have been a regular feature on the channel ever since.

Tractor Ted Takes to Water in the New DVD

Tractor Ted, the UK’s favorite little green tractor, goes on an aquatic adventure in a brand new DVD, which launches later this month.
The latest in the series of hugely popular children’s DVDs ‘Down at the River’ features a variety of big machines at work by the river and some of the animals that live near water.
Alongside favorite characters like Farmer Tom, Fudge the dog and Millie and Jack, Tractor Ted follows the work of a giant crane as it lifts barges, boats and even a floating excavator on to the river.

The Pokémon Company International has partnered with Build-A-Bear Workshop, the interactive destination where guests can create personalised furry friends, to release an exclusive stuffed Pikachu in early 2016.
