Hello Kitty and The Simpsons Featured in Collaborative Line

Sanrio Inc. and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products have partnered for a line of products featuring Hello Kitty and The Simpsons. The collaborative line will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hello Kitty and 25th anniversary of The Simpsons. The cross-branded art featured on the products will make its first appearance at Brand Licensing Europe in London. Consumers can purchase items from the product line during the back-to-school season next year.

FAM Brands Acquires La Vie Jet Setter

Following its acquisition by FAM Brands in April, La Vie Jet Setter will launch its inaugural girls’ and women’s collections next spring. Pieces of the line debuted at the August ENK Children’s show at the Piers in New York. According to designer Dela Emami, La Vie Jet Setter is inspired by the jet-setting spirit of San Tropez and the South of France, combined with unique designs, gorgeous colors, and luxuriously soft fabrics. The launch of La Vie Jet Setter as a FAM Brands brand will be geared toward department and specialty stores and online retailers. The brand will feature a comprehensive girls’ collection and contemporary women’s tops, bottoms, and dresses, which will be introduced a few months later.

Global Pursuit Named Global Licensing Agent for Lizzie McGraw’s Tumbleweed & Dandelion Lifestyle Brand

Global Pursuit has been appointed the global licensing agent for designer Lizzie McGraw’s Tumbleweed & Dandelion lifestyle brand. The worldwide licensing and merchandising campaign will focus on categories including home décor, furniture, home office, candles, and other accessories. Products are set to launch at retail late next year.

Ommegang, HBO Announce New Game of Thrones Ale

Brewery Ommegang and HBO have announced the third beer in the Game of Thrones-inspired series at the Great American Beer Festival. Fire and Blood Red Ale, inspired by House Targaryen, follows Iron Throne Blonde Ale and Take the Black Stout. Although the beer won’t be available until spring of next year, a sneak peek of the label’s artwork was revealed and will feature three Targaryen dragons: Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.

Angelcare Enters Global Agreement with Journeybee/Magicbed

Angelcare expands its product line through a new manufacturing, distribution, and licensing agreement of the journeyBee playard in the U.S. and MagicBed in the rest of the world. The agreement grants Angelcare exclusive worldwide distribution rights, and the product is expected to debut at retailers worldwide in December. Products will be on display at the ABC Kids Expo October 15 to 18.
JourneyBee provides a secure, comfortable place for babies to rest and play. Its design provides caregivers the ability to open and close in seconds. The product also comes complete with a durable outer case, handle, and comfortable shoulder strap, and is available in a selection of fashionable patterns and colors. In the coming weeks, additional products will also be available including a bassinet made with the same open and close mechanism and weighing 4.3 pounds. Also, there will be a complete line of fashionable accessories, such as replacement sheets, sunshade, and mosquito netting. 
The new Angelcare playard lineup will be available nationally at major retailers and specialty stores worldwide.

King Features, Chupa Chups to Co-Brand Lollipop Property and Betty Boop

King Features Syndicate and Chupa Chups have reached an agreement to co-brand the name and logo from the lollipop brand with the name and likeness of Betty Boop. King Features will seek licensees for the co-branded merchandise in categories including apparel, fashion accessories, footwear, housewares, smartphone and tablet accessories, party goods, stationery giftware, apps, and digital games.


Hasbro Signs Partners to Bring Weebles, Spirograph to Europe

Hasbro Inc. is set to re-launch Weebles and Spirograph. Weebles, which debuted in the 1970s, will hit store shelves in the UK, Spain, Italy, and Australia this fall through a licensing collaboration with Character Options. In a separate agreement, Goldfish and Bison will reintroduce the arts and crafts brand Spirograph throughout Europe next year.

The new Weebles toy range will be reshaped with a more rounded base and molded body shape. Featuring Entertainment One’s Peppa Pig, her brother George, and their friends, the range will include character figures, a car, a train, and feature play sets.

The re-launched Spirograph, the geometric drawing toy, will feature a selection of colored pens and pencils and 3-D glasses to view drawings in a whole new way.

PGS Entertainment Secures Three-Year Deal for Zagtoon Properties

PGS Entertainment has signed a deal with kids’ entertainment producer Zagtoon. The first project under the terms of the new partnership will be for the global distribution of the live action/animated series Ghostforce. PGS and Zagtoon first worked together on the launch of the new Ladybug animated series.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Celebrates Its Anniversary with Campaign for Kids

Rocket Licensing, the UK agent for The World of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar brand, has partnered with Action for Children for a new national fundraising campaign targeted at 1,000 nurseries and children’s centers throughout the UK. The campaign is a part of the 45th anniversary celebration of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Action for Children is encouraging children centers, nurseries, and primary schools nationwide to host sponsored Giant Wiggle walks on The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day next March. All money raised through the campaign will support Action for Children’s work across the country to children, young people, and families in the communities.
Rocket has several new licensees for the brand, including Ravensburger, Egmont, Dreamtex, and East Coast Nursery, and is developing and extending new style guide art. The 45th anniversary will bring new product and book launches, a consumer public relations campaign led by License to PR, promotional activity at retail, and grassroots activity.

The Rastamouse Co. Brings UK Licensing and Merchandising In-House for Rastamouse Series

The Rastamouse Co. will bring all of its UK licensing and merchandising activity in-house.
The company will take over management of all UK brand activities including licensing and merchandising for this year’s Brand Licensing Expo Europe.
DHX Media will continue to represent Rastamouse licensing and TV distribution globally. The Rastamouse brand has been extended into music, radio, apps, toys, games, and consumer products through a number of licensing and merchandising deals.
The Rastamouse Co. is working on a second album under its deal with EMI Records, as well as recording more episodes for CBeebies radio. A fourth book, Rastamouse and Da Micespace Mystery, is now available in stores.

DHX Media Signs New Broadcast Deal for In the Night Garden

DHX Media has confirmed a new seven-year broadcast deal with CBeebies for In the Night Garden. The series is expected to be air through 2020.
In the licensing arena, there is high demand for new plush and plastic toys, play sets, figures, developmental toys, vehicles, and role-play products from UK master toy licensee Golden Bear.
New In The Night Garden learning electronic toys, from Inspiration Works, will launch this fall. Penguin Books is set to release novelty and picture storybooks, and new licensee Ravensburger will introduce a new range of puzzles, set to launch next January.

New Brand Collaborations for Where’s Wally?

DreamWorks Classics has expanded the international licensing and marketing program for Where’s Wally?. Collaborations will span across fashion, travel, and media with partners including Virgin Atlantic, Vilebrequin, Havaianas, NYC & Co., Lomography, and WeTransfer. Where’s Wally? books are sold in more than 30 countries in 38 languages worldwide, and these new alliances will help solidify the global icon’s role as a travel ambassador and fashion tastemaker.

Fisher-Price Continues as Master Toy Partner for Octonauts

UK independent entertainment company Silvergate Media has signed a renewal deal with Fisher-Price to continue as master toy partner for Silvergate’s preschool property Octonauts. Branded toys have hit shelves across the UK, France, Germany, Australia, and the U.S. The animated series has been sold to more than 100 territories and is broadcasted on CBeebies in the UK, on Disney Junior in the U.S., on ABC in Australia, and on SuperRTL’s Toggolino in Germany. The extension of the master toy deal will build on the broadcast platform and bring new toys to more children.

Funko, Underground Toys Announce European Partnership

Funko LLC, creators and manufacturers of entertainment-related toys, has partnered with London-based global entertainment merchandise company Underground Toys Ltd. This U.S. and UK company alliance will allow Underground Toys to incorporate the Funko line of products within their range of licensed merchandise to distribute among European retailers including Toys “R” Us, Tesco, ASDA, Carrefour, and FNAC.

Adastra Creative Seeks Partners to Grow Grandpa in My Pocket Brand

Adastra Creative’s children and family entertainment series Grandpa in My Pocket will reach its 100th episode next year. Originating on CBeebies, Grandpa in My Pocket is aimed toward kids ages 4 to 6.
DHX Media has sold the series to more than 100 territories worldwide. It has been extended into iOS apps, from DHX Media; audio books, from Creative Content; books, from Mile Press Five; and DVDs, from Warner Home Video, Abbey Home Entertainment, and ABC Australia.
Adastra Creative is now seeking licensing partners to extend the brand.


Hasbro Inks Global Licensing Deal with Benetton Group for My Little Pony, Transformers

Hasbro Inc. has signed a licensing agreement with Benetton Group to create Transformers and My Little Pony fashion collections. The ranges will include apparel, footwear, and accessories for kids and newborns available at United Colours of Benetton stores in 42 countries beginning next spring.

The Transformers collection will cast the franchise’s heroes and villains with a colorful “More Than Meets the Eye” treatment. Benetton will also deliver a line of My Little Pony apparel celebrating the brand’s pop culture foothold, driven by the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic animated series, and the toy line’s 30-year heritage.

In addition to Benetton, Hasbro has a new My Little Pony licensing agreement with Alice Vandy for on-trend retro apparel goods available this fall. Smith & Brooks has also signed on to create a kids’ wear line based on Hasbro properties, and Somerbond will cater to the adult fan base with T-shirt and nightwear collections.
