New Products to Come Ahead of Jurassic World Premiere

Jurassic WorldThe Lego Group has partnered with Universal Partnerships & Licensing (UP&L) to create original Lego products in conjunction with the release of Jurassic World, the next installment in Steven Spielberg’s film series.
The Lego Group’s participation is part of a branded toy campaign designed to bring the action, adventure, and excitement of the film to audiences around the world alongside global toy licensee Hasbro. The toys will be available in May.
Hasbro will introduce a line of play experiences based on the film next year, including action figures, role-play items, and games. In addition to its toy licensing deals, UP&L has secured a cross-category licensing program that includes candy and food items, accessories and apparel, party goods, and home furnishings.
Additionally, Ludia will create a mobile and social game based on the film in which players can construct their own Jurassic World theme park.

Out of the Blue Enterprises Acquires Colorforms

Out of the BlueOut of the Blue Enterprises will launch an extensive new toy line, animated series, and digital apps based on its newly acquired legacy brand, Colorforms.
New products in the line are expected to debut at retail next fall, based on brands including Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Peter Rabbit, Pete the Cat, and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

Activision Showcases Global Partners for Skylanders at BLE 2014

Activision Publishing showcased Skylanders licensees and agents during Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) 2014 to coincide with the global launch of Skylanders Trap Team. The franchise has sold 175 million toys globally and is supported by an expansive licensing and promotional program.
Highlights of the holiday lineup surrounding the launch of the newest game include H&M for a global rollout of Skylanders-branded apparel; BDA for the official Trap Storage Case to hold the complete collection of all 46 Traptanium crystals from the game; Penguin UK and Immediate Media for the official Skylanders Universe Magazine (Penguin UK will also release The Official Skylanders Universe Annual); and IDW Publishing for the first official Skylanders comic book series.
Other established European licensees include Akroyd and TDP Licensing, Fashion UK, Folat, Dreamtex, Gemma, Brand Mania, BBS, Kinnerton, Kokomo, CoBrands, Lightbody of Hamilton, Leomil, Aventure Diffusion, Calego, Danilo, TVMania, Winning Moves, Trademark, GB Eye, Zak, Zeon, and Rubie’s Costume Co.

Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab Set to Launch in the U.S.

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI), in association with Georgia Public Broadcasting, will premiere its new animated kids’ series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab on TV in the U.S. The 26 x 30-minute series will launch in April.

The animated series follows Angie, a 12-year-old prodigy, and her young science club, who accidentally discover Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab—a dream lab equipped with gizmos and gadgets, including two of Edison’s last inventions: a hologram that brings Mr. Edison himself to life, and a virtual reality machine that lets them go anywhere. In each episode, Edison encourages and inspires the group in scientific and technological explorations, including physical science, life science, earth science, space science, and more.  
Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab will be a fully immersive multi-media property that will cross a variety of platforms. An interactive website, digital applications, toys, games, electronics, in-school curriculum, and more are in development.

PBS Distribution Acquires Worldwide DVD, Digital Rights for WordWorld

Word WorldPBS Distribution has acquired three seasons of the multi-award-winning program WordWorld. The deal includes worldwide DVD and digital distribution rights for all 84 episodes of the TV show. PBS Distribution plans to release its first WordWorld DVD next year.
The show, winner of the 2009 Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding children’s program, is designed to introduce, support, and foster literacy skills in children ages 3 to 5. The WordFriends characters are animals whose bodies are made up of the letters that spell the word they represent. In each story, they go on adventures and face challenges that can only be resolved with the right word.

TJLG Expands The World of Eric Carle

Eric CarleThe Joester Loria Group (TJLG) has brokered a deal for The World of Eric Carle to expand on its current program with additional categories, including stationery, craft, and activity paper products, and confections for the U.S. and Canada. Primary Colors will develop the new line and will emphasize the iconic collage art in a wide variety of products, including coloring pouches, coloring packs, craft kits, activity pads, stickers, markers, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, and flash cards. The line is expected to arrive at retail next spring.
In addition, Primary Colors will develop everyday and seasonal confections, including gummies, fruit snacks, cookies, and crackers. The new products will target grocery stores, independent specialty stores, specialty chains, mass market retailers, and online stores.

Johnny Rockets Comes Home with New Licensing Agreement

Johnny Rockets has partnered with Blackwood Industries Inc. to create a line of licensed items for home use.

According to the Orange County Business Journal, future Johnny Rockets At Home products might include Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, make-your-own milkshakes, jukeboxes, and tabletop grills. Food products should hit shelves early next year with hard goods to follow later in the year.
The Johnny Rockets At Home line is part of the company’s projected brand expansion outside its existing restaurants. Other ventures will include Johnny Rockets Route 66 for drive-in movie locations, travel centers, and drive-through restaurants, and Johnny Rockets Express locations in Six Flags amusement parks.

AwesomenessTV Announces Pop-up Location, Meet-Ups, and Merchandise

AwesomenessTV has launched Scene@AwesomenessTV, a multi-faceted collaboration space in Los Angeles. 
The location will include a pop-up shop with select merchandise and custom designed products, AwesomenessTV talent meet-ups, performances, and other events to create a venue for teens to shop, share, and engage. 
Scene@AwesomenessTV will also have an online component, connecting AwesomenessTV’s YouTube presence to the physical gathering space.

Ice Age Franchise Remains Strong Ahead of 2016 Movie Release

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) announced the continued success of its film franchise Ice Age at Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) 2014 leading up to the theatrical release of the next Ice Age movie in 2016.
The Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure live show is in the second of a five-year global tour with plans to visit more than 30 countries on five continents. It will make its debut in Eastern Europe later this year.
There are also 11 attractions based on the film across seven countries, two global and 10 regional publishing houses, an Ice Age Adventure mobile game released this year, and a children’s clothing partnership with Monnalisa in Italy.

Kellogg’s and Hallmark Partner for “Grrrrreat” Holiday Ornaments

Kellogg'sKellogg’s has signed with Hallmark to release a series of collectible holiday ornaments featuring the brand’s most notable characters and advertising icons. The Joester Loria Group brokered the deal.
The first ornament in the three-piece series is a vintage Tony the Tiger ornament, which debuted at Hallmark Gold Crown Stores and on Hallmark’s website on October 4.
Hallmark will release a new Kellogg’s ornament every year through 2016. The ornaments will be sold at all 2,400 Hallmark locations, online, and at select specialty retailers nationwide.

From Frank Expands Beyond Greeting Card Humor

From FrankA Squared Entertainment, a subsidiary of Genius Brands International, has partnered with From Frank to expand the humor greeting card line into a lifestyle brand. Agreements with a handful of new licensees will bring a variety of new products onto the market next year.
GTech, Bare Tree Media, and Calendar Club have joined Hot Properties as licensees for the product line. Printed lottery game pieces, virtual goods including Emoticons and a Photo Bomb mobile app, a 2015 wall calendar, and a collection of 1,000-piece Jigsaw Puzzles will join the line of From Frank pins, stickers, air fresheners, and magnets already on the market.


Angry Birds Transformers Rolls Out Worldwide

Angry Birds Transformers is debuting across the world. The Angry Birds Transformers mobile game will be available in Apple App Store, to be followed by the Android version on Google Play on October 30th and on Amazon on November 4th. Also available is the Angry Birds Transformers Telepods product line from Hasbro.

Rovio Entertainment comments that it is ‘excited to announce the global release of this new fun mash-up that combines the quirky Angry Birds world with the iconic Transformers franchise. With an edgy 80’s vibe, Angry Birds Transformers brings a humorous twist to the beloved Transformers characters. Angry Birds are disguised as robots in disguise when Eggspark plunges to Piggy Island changing the pigs and the eggs in its wake. The Autobirds and the Deceptihogs will have to join forces to prevent the rioting EggBots from wreaking havoc.’

“With Angry Birds Transformers we created a totally new action packed gameplay experience, where the player gets to jump into action either on their feet or on wheels”, said Jami Laes, Executive Vice President of Games, Rovio Entertainment. “This is of course just the beginning and there’s more to come! As with all of Rovio’s games, there will be exciting updates with new content and features coming in the future.”

Outlander to Reach More Viewers with Sony Pictures Television’s Latest Deal

Sony Pictures Television has sold its TV drama series Outlander across Latin America and Europe, taking the show’s total number of territories to 87.
The show was licensed to Clarovideo in Latin America; Viaplay in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden; HBO in the Netherlands; 365 in Iceland; VRT in Belgium; and RTE in Ireland. Many of the deals include rights for streaming subscription video on demand services.
The series follows the story of Claire Randall, a combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 who finds herself torn between two irreconcilable lives. The drama is currently being shown on Starz in the U.S., and is available on demand to subscribers in Australia, New Zealand, and China.

New Christmas Special for Shaun the Sheep

Shaun the SheepAardman Animations, along with broadcast partners BBC One, BBC Comedy Commissioning and WDR Germany, have announced that Shaun the Sheep has just been given the green light for a new half hour special  ‘Shaun the Sheep - The Farmers Llamas’, is the first half hour film to be produced for the brand and is due to premiere on BBC One at Christmas 2015. Following its premiere in the UK, The Farmers Llamas will air on all Aardman’s partner channels. The special goes straight into production following the completion of Shaun the Sheep The Movie, which is set for international theatrical release from February 2015.

New Episodes of Geronimo Stilton Announced

Atlantyca Entertainment has signed a deal with France-based production company Superprod, to produce The New adventures of Geronimo Stilton, with the participation of Rai. The new and enhanced animated series will feature 26  episodes of 22 minutes with new faster moving storylines, steadfast adventures of the globally renowned mouse-journalist, Geronimo Stilton.
Atlantyca Entertainment has already secured key pre-sales for the new animated series, with broadcast licensing deals signed with ARD and Kika, Germany; Nickelodeon for Belgium and Holland and Canal Panda for Portugal.

Ludorum Announces Further Roll-Outs

Ludorum will continue to support its pre-school property, Chuggington, with a series of new releases this Autumn.  Following on from last year's  Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue campaign, Autumn/Winter 2014 sees a focus around the Chuggineers - Chuggington's new construction and engineering crew, and to mark this Ludorum is launching a new App – Chuggineers: Ready to Build and a new DVD release – also titled Chuggineers: Ready to Build.
The new Chuggineers: Ready to Build App is the third Chuggington App product from Budge Studios.
The new Chuggineers: Ready to Build DVD features six episodes including the Chuggineers: Ready to Build Special extended episode.

Dracco Announces Lawsuit Against Simba Dickie Companies

Dracco has filed two lawsuits against companies of the Simba Dickie
Group in connection with Simba’s acts as licensee and reseller. At the same time, Dracco comments that it is reassuring retailers and partners that it has the right, privilege and authority to enter into supply agreements or licensing agreements with
others in relation to the Filly property. Dracco holds the rights to the Filly Property.
The first lawsuit concerns Simba as a licensee and has been filed by Dracco Netherlands B.V. with the High Court in Hong Kong and has the name Simba Toys GmbH & Co. KG as defendant on 21st February 2014. In this lawsuit, Dracco seeks, among others, damages as a result of Simba’s alleged breaches of the licensing agreement dated 10th February 2011 made between the parties.
The second lawsuit filed in relation to supply, has been filed by Dracco Macau
with the High Court in Hong Kong on 29th August 2014 and has named Simba
Toys (Hong Kong) Limited as the defendant. In this lawsuit, Dracco seeks, among others, damages as a result of Simba (HK)’s alleged breaches of the master purchase agreements on diverse dates made between the parties.

H&A Launches Nightmare Before Christmas Range

H&A is strengthening its relationship with the discount retail sector with the exclusive launch of a range of Nightmare Before Christmas products in Poundland for Halloween 2014.
Appropriately, the range will consist of 13 lines, and in preparation for Halloween, will be available in store from early October and follows the success of the recent launch of seven lines of Disney’s Frozen products into the discount retailer earlier on in the year.
Holly Davies, marketing development director at H&A, said: “We’re really excited about the Nightmare Before Christmas range in Poundland, following the huge success of the Frozen products a few months ago.
