Planeta Junior has signed an agreement with Saban Brands to serve as the licensing agent for Saban’s Power Rangers franchise in Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Cyprus, and parts of Eastern Europe.
Planeta Junior will work closely with Saban Brands and Bandai to promote licensing opportunities across all categories and implement a strategy to introduce the brand in new territories.
Saban’s Power Rangers Super Megaforce will premier this fall on Clan TV followed by a new season of Power Rangers Dino Charge, debuting next spring.

ITV Announces BLE Slate

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) is making its return Brand Licensing Europe this week to showcase its expanding portfolio of ITV owned and third party brands. The new boys’ property, Thunderbirds Are Go, will spearhead the firm’s presentation slate alongside Classic Thunderbirds, iconic toy property PLAYMOBIL, the Playmobil inspired kids’ TV series Super 4, digital game sensation Cut the Rope, ‘70s music brand Village People, hit historical TV drama Poldark and the licensor’s new licensing property; kids’ sketch-comedy series, Oddbods.

Entertainment One Signs New Deals for Peppa Pig Toys

Entertainment One (eOne) has signed new licensing partnerships to bolster the Peppa Pig franchise in the UK.
Winning Moves will launch Peppa Pig Junior Monopoly and Guess Who board games in the UK this fall. Character Options will introduce an arts and crafts Peppa Pig line, including dough, doodlers, easels, and felts in January and Trends UK will head the ELA category with a new line of preschool electronic learning toys next fall.
Other new partners include Bladez for remote control inflatables; Vivid for Crayola Colour Wonder activity sets; Flair for arts and crafts, Peppa plush, and T-shirts; Meld for wooden toys; and Access all Areas for a range of musical instruments.

Crystal Palace Appoints New Licensing Agency

Crystal Palace Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of licensing agency CPLG to work with the Club on a new merchandise licensing programme.
The relationship will see Crystal Palace work with the agency to make new CPFC product lines available through leading UK retailers, both online and in the high street.
Mike Pink, Head of Consumer Sales at Crystal Palace said, “We're very pleased to be launching our merchandise licensing programme in partnership with CPLG, one the world’s leading licensing agencies.
"As our fan base grows in the UK and around the world, increasing our merchandising presence is a natural step forward as a Premier League Club.”

Hasbro Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Action Man

2016 will see the 50th anniversary of the Action Man brand, which was licensed by Hasbro from the 1960s to the 1990s. To celebrate this occasion, Hasbro and Art + Science International will bring back a specially developed range of Collector Edition Action Man figurines, which will be released next June. The launch will coincide with Father’s Day and Armed Forces Day celebrations. 
 
The Collector Edition will feature the classic British infantrymen, the skier, the parachutists, the scuba diver, and the footballer. The Collector Editions will be inspired by the best of the Action Man brand and will feature accessories, gripping hands, realistic flock hair, and the famous scar. Other famous features like Eagle Eye and Muscle Torso will appear in later releases.

Each Action Man figure will be presented in a special diorama scene, with a 50th anniversary edition dog tag and an illustrated Action Man manual. The original Action Man artist, Douglas Hart, will provide illustrations for the packaging and manual.

 The Light Fund Is Now Open for Charities to Apply for Funding

The Light Fund welcomes applications for funding from any registered charity organisation whose beneficiaries are children, women or men.
 
Charities are now invited to put forward distinct projects that they would like The Light Fund to consider funding. Charities have until Wednesday November 25 to make their submissions online via The Light Fund website. (www.lightfund.org/apply_funding)

Moose Toys, Turner International Australia Launch Little Live Pets App

Moose Toys has partnered with Turner International to launch a local, content-led campaign with a digital-native approach and a new app for Little Live Pets. Together with MCN, Turner’s media sales representation agency in Australia, the multimedia campaign was developed to include Cartoon Network and Boomerang and their respective websites.
The Little Live Pets app is free and available for download around the world. It capitalizes on Turner’s expertise and experience in creating compelling digital content, gained from years of focus on total audience engagement. 
This custom-made app was designed to let children and families adopt their own virtual pet from a pet shop. Users can then feed, clean, play, and accessorize a Little Live Pets mouse, turtle, or bird, as well as play mini-games to level-up, earn coins, and unlock surprises.

Coolabi Announces Three Clangers Deals at BLE

Coolabi Group today announces further deals with licensing partners, Portico Designs, Things 3D and Unique Party, who join the strong portfolio of licensees for the hugely successful new series of Clangers.
 
Clangers launched on the UK’s CBeebies and US 24-hour pre-school network, Sprout, this summer, immediately hitting number 1 in the UK’s top children’s programmes. After its successful launch Coolabi Group is continuing to build the extensive licensing programme for the property with the addition of stationery, 3D printing and party ware.

DHX Media Signs Deals to Broadcast Teletubbies and Twirlywoos in Australia

DHX Media has signed broadcast deals for its flagship preschool properties Teletubbies and Twirlywoos with the Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC) to screen on ABC Kids.
 
Teletubbies, a TV series from 1997, has been re-imagined for the new generation with Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po. There are 60 CGI-animated episodes lined up for this year that focus on learning for preschoolers.
 
Twirlywoos, produced by Ragdoll Productions, uses early childhood research to create comedy that allows preschoolers to gain confidence in their perceptions of the world.

Panini to Launch New Cartoon Network Magazine

Cartoon Network Enterprises  has joined forces withPanini to launch a new Cartoon Network Magazine.  The four-weekly title, targeted at children aged 6-10 years, hits stores in the UK this week (15th October 2015) with a roll out to further EMEA territories during 2016.

The new Cartoon Network Magazine will include four free gifts and feature entertaining content about the channel’s favourite shows including Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, Ben 10, Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, Clarence and Steven Universe. Each 36-page issue will include puzzles, stories and activities devoted to the irreverent humour and fun of Cartoon Network.

Hasbro Showcases Global Franchises at Brand Licensing Europe 2015

Hasbro is expanding its presence throughout Europe with a comprehensive lifestyle licensing portfolio focused on high-end apparel lines that turn the iconic My Little Pony and Transformers brands into fashion favorites, as well as broad expansions within its licensed toy and game offerings. The My Little Pony franchise will be made into a full-length animated feature film to be released globally in 2017.
 
Dickie Toys will develop and market a range of vehicles, including R/C, die-cast, light and sound vehicles, and themed play sets, according to a new licensing agreement with Hasbro.
 
The Transformers brand will also get fashionable with UK designer Fyodor Golan’s efforts to roll out a high-end Transformers apparel line and Philipp Plein’s plans to launch Transformers branded shirts for women.
 
Hasbro will develop a collector edition of retro toys for Action Man’s 50th anniversary next year and help bring back the Stretch Armstrong toy and Mr. Frosty frozen slushy maker.

Just launched to all the independents is the TSPTR high end clothing line featuring King Features Popeye. There are t’shirts, sweats, jackets and caps
 
Initial sales reaction is very good and Daniel Savory, Managing Director of the above when asked said “ If there was ever an American Icon that represented the TSPTR brand values it is Popeye The Sailorman – the good guy underdog with a mean uppercut and a penchant for canned spinach and skinny women!”

Sony Pictures Consumer Products Promotes Mark Caplan to Senior Vice President

Mark Caplan has been promoted to senior vice president, global consumer products for Sony Pictures Consumer Products at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE).
In his new role, Caplan will oversee licensing, merchandising, location-based entertainment, and interactive gaming efforts for SPE notable franchises. He will work closely with manufacturing partners, retailers, and international agents to create quality products and experiences that extend consumers’ relationship with each of SPE’s properties in innovative ways.
Previously, Caplan served as vice president at Sony Pictures Consumer Products. Caplan has licensed a variety of film and TV properties, including The Smurfs, Pixels, Goosebumps, Hotel Transylvania, Spider-Man, Men in Black, Breaking Bad, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. He also managed the Ghostbusters franchise for more than 10 years.

The New Adventures of Peter Pan

DQ Entertainment, the TV producer from India, has appointed V.I.P. Entertainment & Merchandising AG (www.vip-ag.com) as its exclusive licensing agent in the German speaking markets for Peter Pan.
A 52 x half hour fantasy-action-adventure series co-produced in cooperation with various partners from around the world including ABC, Turner and ZDF.
The “New Adventures of Peter Pan” is a 3D stereoscopic TV animation for ages 4 to 10, featuring Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, new generation Wendy, her brothers John and Michael and their dog Newfie in Neverland and beyond.

MGA Relaunches Bratz Licensing Program with a Fresh Look

The Bratz brand is back in the market with a new look and a line of products revamped to capture the imagination of the modern-day girl. MGA Entertainment has entered multiple licensing agreements to launch a diverse range of Bratz products.
 
Accessory Innovations will create Bratz-inspired fashion accessories. The new line of products including handbags, backpacks, lunch totes, water bottles, luggage, small leather goods, cosmetic bags, gadget bags, and umbrellas will launch next year in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
 
Charmsies will offer an assortment of hair charms and stickers for girls in the U.S.
 
High Point Design will create a range of Bratz consumer products, including socks, slippers, leggings, and tights, that draw inspiration from the Bratz doll lines. These products will launch next year.

Rovio Appoints EMEA Licensing Agencies

Rovio Entertainment has appointed several new expert licensing agencies in EMEA who are on board to help both the licensor and local licensees realize the full potential of the Angry Birdsbrand and the company’s ambition of becoming a fully-fledged entertainment studio with gaming at its heart.
 
Teaming up alongside CLM in South Africa, Sinerji in Turkey and Megalicense in Russia, the following agents have joined Rovio’s robust network of top-tier local agents in EMEA:

Boj to Debut on Safari

Pesky Productions are announcing its CBeebies hit 'Boj' is to have its very own visitor attraction at one of Britain's top tourist destinations, West Midland Safari Park.

Rovio Entertainment Expands Angry Birds in Asia

Rovio Entertainment will expand the Angry Birds franchise in Asia by launching new games, signing new partners with local publishers, and making strong executive appointments.
Rovio has partnered with Kunlun in China and Kiteretsu in Japan to tap into a market where the popularity of Angry Birds franchise is on the rise. Rovio has appointed Vincent Yu in China to manage licensing, sales, and marketing.
Rovio is also strengthening its position in India and South Asia with the appointment of Anurag Sachdeva to drive global partnerships and strategic alliances while strengthening the company’s organizational capabilities, leading telecom operator relations for Southeast Asia, and focusing on the expansion of the company’s market base.
In Korea, Rovio is growing its global network of expert local licensing agents with the appointment of Asiana Licensing to represent the company locally in its consumer products business. Asiana joins Charactopia in China, Dream Theater in India, PLS in Southeast Asia, and Wild Pumpkin in Australia in an agent network across the Asia-Pacific region that works with licensees to create consumer products tailored for local markets.

Wild Pumpkin is unveiling a new corporate identity, WP Brands, to match its growing array of services and to meet the demands of the modern licensing industry. WP Brands will cover multiple areas, including mass media, digital, online, social media, brand management, sponsorship, retail placement, and creative support with licensing at its core.

Zag Signs Bandai as Master Toy Licensee for Zak Storm

Zag Inc. has signed a global mass-market toy licensing deal with Bandai America Inc. for the Zag Heroez 3-D, CGI-animated series Zak Storm. On the heels of success  with Zag Heroez CGI-animated  series  Miraculous,  now rolling out in more 120 markets, the  Zak Storm  entertainment franchise  is positioned  to engage  kids through  fun and action-­‐packed  adventures, powerful  lore, amazing worlds, iconic and relatable  characters, and aspirational role play working across TV, digital platforms, and toys. Global master toy partner Bandai is planning a robust integrated toy line including action figures, vehicles, interactive role play, and action sets.
   
Zak Storm is a co-production between ZAG, Method Animation, SamG, and Man of Action Entertainment, in partnership with Gulli and PGS Entertainment. The TV series follows Zak Storm, a regular kid who gets swept into the Bermuda Triangle during a surfing competition and stumbles upon a ship where he becomes the captain of the misfits.

JAM Brands Set to Expand Licensing Program for Winx Club

JAM Brands Inc. is expanding the licensing program for its TV property Winx Club, creating an opportunity for a wide range of licenses, including fashion, back-to-school, dolls, home décor, beauty, food, publishing, home video, and more.  
 
Winx Club follows the adventures of a group of young fairies, combining action-adventure with comedy. Rainbow currently has more than 500 worldwide licensees spanning more than 60 categories, producing more than 6,000 new products every year.

Brand Central Signs Jel Sert for Brand Extension and Acquisition

Jel Sert has signed Brand Central for representation of its brand portfolio, including Otter Pops, Fla-Vor-Ice, Wyler’s, Royal, and more. For the past six years, Brand Central has helped Jel Sert acquire Hershey’s, Baskin Robbins, and Margaritaville, among other brands.
 
Brand Central will be responsible for identifying and securing new licensing opportunities for Jel Sert’s all-family brands.

Cartoon Network Enterprises, Desigual Partner for Adventure Time

Cartoon Network Enterprises and Desigual have entered a licensing partnership for TV comedy series Adventure Time. Desigual will launch a new fashion collection for girls and teens ages 4 to 14 across its global network of 14,000 retail outlets, starting next year. 

A crop top in Desigual’s signature style and a reversible hoodie featuring lead character Jake’s facial features along with a bright graphic pattern will lead the spring/summer range, which will also showcase dresses, T-shirts, leggings, fleece, and scarves.

Lawless Entertainment Signs Red Sky Presents for Little Suzy’s Zoo

Red Sky Presents will develop and release a complete collection of eBooks and print-on-demand books based on the Little Suzy’s Zoo character set, starring Witzy the fluffy duckling, Boof the teddy bear, Lulla the musical bunny rabbit, Patches the giraffe, and Ellie Funt the elephant, as a result of to a deal signed with Lawless Entertainment.
The Little Suzy’s Zoo books will include fun backyard adventures, lessons in letters, colors, and shapes for preschool children. The first book is scheduled for release in February.

C3 Entertainment Licenses Motor Marc to Desperate Enterprises

C3 Entertainment Inc.’s long-time licensee Desperate Enterprises has added a license for Motor Marc Lacourciere to design tin signs with his artwork. Starting with Corvette Sting Ray 427, the signs will be available at select retail outlets and on the company’s website this fall.

The Fred Rogers Co. Receives Grant from NSF for Peg + Cat

The Fred Rogers Co. has earned a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support Peg + Cat, an animated math series on PBS KIDS.
 
The grant renews NSF’s support for the series and outreach programs aimed at getting young children excited about math, helping them develop problem-solving skills, and encouraging teachers and parents to approach math in a way that makes learning fun for children. The grant will also help produce 25 new episodes for the TV series, complimentary digital games, and apps.

Lucks Food Decorating Co. Partners with U.S. Army

Lucks Food Decorating Co. will produce, market, and sell army marks and logos for edible images and cake decorations under a new licensing partnership with the U.S. army. The deal, brokered by Harris-Sachs LLC, has helped Lucks Food Decorating Co. express their gratitude to soldiers, families, and friends with a homecoming present.
