Disguise Adds New Lego Costumes This Halloween

Disguise Inc., the costume division of Jakks Pacific Inc., will launch a line of costumes and accessories based on Lego Ninjago and Lego Nexo Knight minifigures. The costumes will be available at retailers nationwide in September.
 
The Ninjago costumes will feature Kai, Lloyd, Jay, and Nya. The Nexo Knights costumes will feature Clay, Aaron, and Lance. The tunics resemble the LEGO minifigure style, while the Prestige costumes include minifigure pants. Each Ninjago costume has a long-sleeved tunic with print on the front and back and a metallic print emblem, while the Nexo Knights costumes include a long-sleeved tunic with padded shoulder armor detail and print on the front and back.

The costumes will be available in children’s sizes 4 to 6, 7 to 8, and 10 to 12. Accessories will include half masks, Lego Hands, and Nexo Knights treat bags.

Aardman Appoints Start Licensing to Represent Key Brands Across UK

Aardman announces that Start Licensing has been engaged to represent all of Aardman’s key brands in the UK across a host of product categories, including Shaun the Sheep, Wallace & Gromit, Morph, Timmy Time and Early Man - the new feature film from Nick Park and Studio Canal, set for release in 2018.
 
The established licencing agency, headed up by Ian Downes, will take on the management of the existing licensing programme as well as being tasked with generating new business for the studio.
 
The studio will maintain responsibility for master toy, publishing and interactive categories, while all product approvals, payments and contracts will continue to be managed directly by the Aardman team.

Earthbound Brands Grows Brand Licensing Presence for Honda

Earthbound Brands partnered with American Honda Motor Co. Inc. to help it expand its licensing strategy. The agency will build upon the existing licensing program for its Honda/Acura Automotive and Honda Powersports brands.

Earthbound will concentrate on categories including lifestyle apparel, accessories, motorcycle gear and equipment, bicycles, novelty products, appliances and electronics, auto care and accessories, toys and games, and gaming. For more information visit earthboundbrands.com.

Cross-Category Products Released to Celebrate Winnie the Pooh’s 90th Anniversary

As 14 October 2016 marks 90 years since A.A. Milne’s first Winnie the Pooh book was published, fans of honey-loving Pooh Bear can now prepare to celebrate the anniversary in style, with a wide range of product inspired by the Hundred Acre Wood gang.

The Flying Circus’ Silly Seasons Heads to North America

The Flying Circus signed a distribution deal with Canadian studio Breakthrough Entertainment to bring the animated series Silly Seasons to North American audiences.
 
Breakthrough Entertainment secured distribution rights to the animated comedy, which targets kids ages 8 to 12 and is about four girls that live in the fantasy world of Sillyville.

Bing Bedding to Be Released by Dreamtex Ltd

Dreamtex Ltd has partnered with TLC and Acamar Films Ltd to create a range of Bing themed home textiles. The first Bing collection featuring Hoppity Voosh includes single and junior sized bedding in 100% cotton, as well as a velour cushion and fleece blanket, with further accessories being added to the collection in the coming months.

The Brand Liaison Scores NFL License for Branded Apparel and Accessories

NFL International LLC granted a license to TD Brand Global, a client of The Brand Liaison, for the rights to certain men’s and women’s apparel and accessories for the China territory, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. The multi-year agreement includes hard line and soft line rights.

CPLG and RFU Renew Representation

CPLG and RFU are renewing their partnership for a further five years.
 
The success seen so far over their expansive 18-year relationship, one of the longest in CPLG’s history, is set to expand and develop into their renewed agreement. England Rugby, as with many other sports brands, are moving towards a more lifestyle focussed licensing programme. This extension is supported by a new style guide with updated assets that promises further progression into new categories and shaping a wider target market.

NFLPA Teams Up with Brandgenuity to Expand Licensing in Europe

Brandgenuity will manage the NFL Players Association (NFLPA)’s licensing efforts in Europe. Brandgenuity will also represent the NFLPA at Brand Licensing Europe this October.

Entertainment One Family Appoints Katie Rollings as Head of UK Licensing

Entertainment One (eOne) has announced that Katie Rollings has been appointed as Head of UK Licensing for eOne Family and eOne Licensing, effective September 13 2016.
 
Based in eOne’s London headquarters, Rollings will be responsible for all commercial activity for its licensed properties in the UK including licensing, brand strategy, retail sales and retail marketing. Leading a team of five licensing executives, Rollings will spearhead the continued growth and expansion of the firm’s UK licensing programmes across its portfolio of family, lifestyle and film properties with a strategic focus on Peppa Pig and PJ Masks.
 
Reporting into Andrew Carley, Head of Global Licensing, Rollings will manage the firm’s key alliances with UK licensees and retailers, identify new licensing opportunities and retail channels in addition to developing brand strategies and retail marketing initiatives that will drive commercial growth in the market. In her new role, Rollings will work closely with eOne’s product development, marketing, international licensing, theatrical and home entertainment divisions to ensure a collaborative and aligned approach across the business.
 
Rollings joins the company with 20 years experience working on leading preschool properties including Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Teletubbies and Chuggington. Prior to eOne, Rollings held Brand Management positions at Fremantle Media, where she led the global brand strategy for Kate & Mim Mim, and at Ludurom where she managed the UK consumer products programme for Chuggington. She has also held a number of senior roles including VP International Marketing and VP UK Consumer Products and International Marketing at HIT Entertainment and Asia Territory Manager at BBC Worldwide where she oversaw the launch of Teletubbies in Asia.

Twentieth Century Fox Signs New Deals for Bob’s Burgers

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) gains new licensing opportunities for its animated comedy series Bob’s Burgers, which will premiere its seventh season this month.
 
Key licensing partners include Kid Robot/NECA, Funko, and Rizzoli Publishing. This fall, Rizzoli will release The Official Bob’s Burgers Coloring Book by Loren Bouchard and the creators of Bob’s Burgers. Additionally, fashion retailer Hot Topic completed a nationwide promotion across 650 stores. 
 
Bob’s Burgers’ UK rollout includes Trademark Products Ltd.’s T-shirts, now available at HMV, Amazon, Primark, and Pennies. GB Eye will launch a Bob’s Burgers’ gift line, including posters and mugs at HMV and Forbidden Planet later this year.

The Winx Fashion Fiesta Flies into Malaysia

The Sunway Putra Mall in Kuala Lumpur is hosting the Winx Fashion Fiesta from September 12th to October 2nd

Masha and the Bear Debuts on Teletoon

Masha and the Bear premiered on September 10 on Corus Entertainment’s Teletoon network.
 
The series (26 x 7-minutes each), created by Oleg Kuzovkov and produced by Animaccord Animation Studio, became a hit on European TV and on Netflix in North America.    

Licensing Expo Chosen to Assist International Licensing Deals for International Buyer Program Select

International Buyer Program (IBP) Select will give International Licensing Expo exhibitors access to potential international licensing partners from China, Mexico, Canada, South Korea, and Japan at the show.
 
On site, IBP Select specialists will assist with pairing U.S. brands, international licensees, manufacturers, and retailers, as part of the Licensing Expo Matchmaking Service. IBP Select's on-site International Business Center will host two international trade specialists to help guide exhibitors looking to extend their brands outside the U.S.
 
Licensing Expo will take place in May at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Registration will open closer to the date of the show.

Lego Leicester Square Counts Down to November Flagship Store Opening

The largest Lego Brand Retail Store in the World to open November 17, 2016, featuring iconic models, technology and a tea-loving mascot.
  
The new landmark store will be the biggest Lego Brand Retail Store in the world, the 37th LEGO store in Europe and cover 914 sq m total area over two floors.

Billboard to Expand Internationally with Launch in China

Billboard announced an expansion in China, which will include branded media platforms in partnership with Vision Music Ltd., a Chinese entertainment, lifestyle, fashion, and sports media company.
 
Billboard will offer a collection of music content channels via multiple platforms, including print, online, and mobile. Billboard China will unveil its website in the upcoming weeks.

MGA Entertainment Appoints Parragon for Num Noms

MGA Entertainment has entered into a multi-year publishing agreement with Parragon Inc., a leading global creator of books and gifts for all ages, naming it the Master Publisher in English-speaking markets for the Num Noms brand. 
 
Providing a variation of formats and price points, Parragon will launch core Num Noms titles in summer 2017 and will follow up with an expanded program for fall 2017 in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom (including Ireland), Australia, New Zealand and English-speaking military bases worldwide. Innovative and unique titles will continue to be introduced on a regular basis, in addition to specific formats for individual markets, based on Parragon’s unique understanding of specific market demands.

Technicolor Options Rights to Develop Supersaurus 7

Technicolor has optioned the rights from the U.K.’s Chris Hayward and Henry Coate to develop and produce Supersaurus 7. The children’s comedy adventure series follows superhero dinosaurs that must learn to work together and use their super powers correctly.

Smiley Company Returns to Milano Licensing Day

The Smiley Company returns to Milano Licensing Day to present the unique and innovative opportunities that have created a 71% growth in year on year retail sales of The Original Smiley Brand from 2014 to 2015, whilst also showcasing its exciting new brand extension of Rubik’s.
 
Smiley CEO Nicolas Loufrani will be present at this LIMA organised event to meet the trade and also showcase how Smiley is growing its partners in Italy’s business. Nicolas will also be offering a taster of how The Smiley Company have turned the world’s best-selling toy, Rubik’s Cube, into a complete licensing program.
 
Margherita Vecchio, Smiley’s Italian country manager will also be holding a keynote presentation to trade at the licensing event held at the Nhow Hotel in Milan.

Playmates Toys Takes WWE Superstars to the Streets with New Racing Toys

Playmates Toys partnered with WWE to launch WWE Nitro Sprints and Nitro Machines, a new line of racing toys. The collection features WWE superstars and is now available exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide.
 
WWE Nitro Sprints are mini, motorized figures that are stylized in WWE Superstar ring gear and feature a 2-inch flywheel. Each figure comes with a vehicle. The WWE Nitro Sprints include John Cena with CENArator, The Rock with Bull Bruiser Truck, Brock Lesnar with Beast Bike, and Undertaker with Night Hearse.
 
The WWE Nitro Machines are die-cast vehicles featuring WWE superstars. The collection includes John Cena in Muscle Monster, The Rock in Bull Machine, Undertaker in Reaper Hearse, and Dean Ambrose in Wheel Asylum.

Xilam to Debut at BLE 2016

Xilam, the award-winning, Paris based children’s and family entertainment production company, is heading to BLE for the first time next month and looking to build licensing programmes for two of its key properties – flagship CGI-animated slapstick comedy brand Oggy & the Cockroaches and new pre-school series, Paprika.  In line with its strategy for driving international growth across consumer products and TV sales, a newly-established licensing division has been created and is led by Marie-Laure Marchand. The company has also appointed MI PR Global.
 
Created by owner Marc du Pontavice more than twenty years ago, Xilam has a strong heritage in creating animated children’s content that broadcasts globally on all the major kids’ networks. Its flagship property Oggy & the Cockroaches, which is distributed in more than 160 countries and watched in 600 million homes, is currently in production of its fifth season, commissioned by both Gulli (France) and Cartoon Network (Asia, Africa and South America).  Season 5 will broadcast in Autumn 2017 and followed by two further seasons, also commissioned by Gulli and Cartoon Network. Xilam’s debut at BLE this autumn underpins the strategic decision to have a stronger and broader international consumer products offering in place, aligned with the new season premiere and building on its current success in France, Italy and Asia.
 
Another focus for Xilam at BLE is its new bright and colourful pre-school animated comedy series, Paprika, which offers unique storylines following the lives of adventurous twins, Olivia and Stan. The series, commissioned by France Télévisions and Disney Junior (EMEA), consists of 78 episodes (x7mins) that are currently in production and is an ideal property for licensing across both boys and girls’ key categories.

Precious Moments Inc. signed CLICK! Licensing Asia Inc. to bring Precious Moments-branded products to key categories in Southeast Asian markets.

Coolabi Appoints Landmark for Poppy Cat in Japan

Coolabi Group has appointed Landmark as licensing agent for Poppy Cat in Japan. 
 
Poppy Cat, based on the award-winning book series by Lara Jones launched on UK TV in 2011 and has since been licensed to some 140 territories globally.
  
Landmark’s strategy for the brand will include dual consumer targeting; pre-schoolers and their families, and the female teen audiences where they believe there is significant potential for Poppy Cat. It will leverage its history of successful campaigns across the retail sector and bring their know-how to bear on building the Poppy Cat brand in Japan.

Super Wings TV Series Now Available on Amazon Prime Video

Janson Media brings the animated TV series Super Wings to the U.S. via Amazon Prime video streaming. The show targets preschoolers and follows a plane named Jett as it delivers packages to children across the world.

The Mojicons Get Going Across Greece

Ink Global has announced that new animation series The Mojicons is set to screen across Greece on Nickelodeon.
 
The show is the work of renowned Russian creators Alexander Romanetz and Viacheslav Marchenko, and Nickelodeon Greece will show the entire first series, comprising 52 episodes of 11 minutes each. The show will premiere at 11.30 on Sunday, September 11th, then screen each Sunday after at the same time.
 
The Nickelodeon deal comes hot on the heels of a broadcasting agreement with Space Toon, which will see The Mojicons beamed across MENA.
 

NBCUniversal Brand Development Names Heatherly EVP, Worldwide Games and Digital Platforms

Chris Heatherly has been named executive vice president, Worldwide Games and Digital Platforms by Vince Klaseus, president, NBCUniversal Brand Development. Heatherly will join NBCUniversal Brand Development Sept. 30, and report directly to Klaseus.

I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
 
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
