Genius Brands International Expands Newman's Role and Hires SVP

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) promoted Stone Newman to president of global consumer products, worldwide content sales, and marketing.
Newman will continue to manage all of GBI’s licensing, merchandising, retail, and marketing efforts, as well as oversee the company’s global content distribution business for its animated properties, including SpacePOP, Llama Llama, Baby Genius, and a new preschool property currently in development. Newman will also manage the worldwide rollout of the adult animated series, Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders.
GBI has named Jo Kavanagh-Payne senior vice president of global distribution. In addition to her role at GBI, Kavanagh-Payne will continue to serve as CEO of Foothill Entertainment.

The Original Smiley Brand Showcased at Maison & Objet 2016

The Original Smiley Brand was showcased by more than 10 home décor licensees at Maison & Objet in Paris this month.
Smiley presented new collections on licensees for Smiley and SmileyWorld, including T&F homeware and lifestyle products; Alpa back-to-school products; Zak Designs kitchenware; Fire Design extinguishers; Insenso Bali lamps; Kleen-tex doormats; CM creation wall décor; Leifheit kitchen and bathroom items; and Easy Peasy leather shoes and bags.
In additional news, The Original Smiley Brand partnered with Sankeys to create promotional events through the summer. The Smiley brand was featured on flags, stickers, and a variety of promotional materials in Ibiza throughout the club’s global venues.

Brandgenuity Announces Carnival Cruise Lines to Host Spike TV’s Lip Synch Battle

Brandgenuity LLC announced that Lip Synch Battle has been added to the entertainment lineup on Carnival Cruise Line.
Lip Sync Battle Carnival will be a re-creation of the show where contestants compete to create the most unforgettable lip sync performance. Contestants will be chosen at the beginning of the cruise following rounds of competitions. Two finalists will be selected and they will each have an opportunity to work with Carnival's entertainment experts for choreography, sets, props, and accessories. The winner will be selected by an audience vote and receive a special prize.
Lip Synch Battle Carnival will debut on the new Carnival Vista in December with rollout on select ships in 2017. For more information visit

Loot Crate, Marvel Partner for a Marvel Subscription Crate 

Loot Crate and Marvel partnered for a Marvel bi-monthly subscription crate.
The Marvel Gear and Goods crate will feature exclusive Marvel apparel, accessories, home goods, and other lifestyle products. To celebrate the upcoming film, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, the first theme will be “Mystics.”

Vandor LLC Introduces Ceramic Tabletop Collections

Vandor LLC introduces a line of ceramic tabletop collections. The sets are available within four of Vandor’s licenses: Star Wars, Disney’s Mickey Mouse, Disney’s Minnie Mouse, and The Beatles Yellow Submarine. Each place setting is sold in a set of four and includes a dinner plate, a salad plate, and a bowl. Sculpted salt and peppershakers are also available, and matching servewear will be introduced this year.

Klutz, Subway Partner for Activity-Based Kids’ Meal Promotion This Fall

Klutz will partner with 30,000 Subway restaurants across the U.S., Canada, Aruba, and the Bahamas to offer four exclusive Klutz activity packs that will be included in Klutz-branded Subway Fresh Fit for Kids’ Meal bags. 
Each Subway Fresh Fit for Kids’ Meal will feature content from one of the following Klutz titles: Dress Up Your Own Paper Pups, My Fashion Portfolio, The Klutz Book of Paper Airplanes, and The Encyclopedia of Immaturity.
Subway restaurants will also feature corresponding KLUTZ printable activities on, and via their Subway Kids app.

Executive Seeks New Challenges
I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
