Moose Toys Appoints The Licensing Shop for Shopkins

ShopkinsMoose Toys has appointed The Licensing Shop Inc. as its exclusive merchandising and licensing agent for its new Shopkins product line for the U.S. and Canada. Shopkins hit retail shelves in June. Moose Toys also teamed up with The Licensing Shop for its The Trash Pack brand.
 
Shopkins are miniature collectibles inspired by products from aisles in the grocery store that come with shopping bags and baskets. Shopkins' YouTube channel had more than 1 million views in less than 6 weeks and more than 5 million views on videos posted by independent toy reviewers.

Central Perk Opens in New York City 

Central Perk FriendsWarner Bros. Television Group, Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), and Eight O’Clock Coffee have teamed up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series premiere of Friends with a variety of unique experiences for fans and coffee lovers. The pop-up shop will be located in New York City from September 17 through October 18, following a special media preview on September 15 and 16.
 
Fans can check out props from the show in the decorated storefront, relax on Central Perk’s iconic orange couch, order coffee from the famous Central Perk chalkboard, or win prizes through in-store promotions.
 
Highlights include special appearances by Friends’ James Michael Tyler, photo ops on the re-created Central Perk set, in-store performances akin to Phoebe’s improvised songs, contests and giveaways throughout the month, Friends-themed merchandise and Eight O’Clock Coffee’s Central Perk Roast and other bagged varieties available for purchase in-store at Central Perk, and special activities and giveaways in conjunction with Eight O’Clock Coffee at Central Perk on September 29 to celebrate National Coffee Day. 

Unleashed by Mustang: Ford Reveals Limited-Edition Fashion Collaboration with Global Designers 

MustangFashion designers Anna Sui, Rogan, Paula Cademartori, CO|TE, and Pamela Love have joined Ford Motor Co. to celebrate the Ford Mustang with the debut of Mustang Unleashed, a limited-edition line of shirts.
 
Each designer has created three Mustang-inspired shirts, resulting in a collection of 15 designs produced by Loomstate. The line will be available this month exclusively at gilt.com.
 
Women’s casual-fit T-shirts will feature a unique U/V-shaped neckline, slightly fitted sleeves, and Loomstate signature skewed sides. The men’s collection will be available in Loomstate classic crew-neck style.

AGP, Osiris Partner for Care Bear Skate Shoes

Care BearsAG Properties and Osiris Shoes have partnered to create a line of limited-edition Care Bear skate shoes for young adults and kids, featuring the Care Bears characters. The skate shoes are expected to hit retail for next year’s back-to-school season, and Osiris will sell the skate shoes at major skate and apparel retailers.

Girl Scouts, Nestle Create Cookie-Flavored Beverages

Nestle QuikThe Wildflower Group has brokered a deal for new Girl Scout Cookie-inspired Nestlé Nesquik ready-to-drink milk beverages. Girl Scout Cookie flavors Thin Mints and Caramel Coconut have been added to the Nesquik offerings, marking a new licensee for the Girls Scouts of the USA licensing program.
 
Nesquik Girl Scouts Thin Mints and Nesquik Girl Scouts Caramel Coconut beverages will hit shelves this fall and will be available for a limited time. Nesquik Chocolate Milk beverages combine low-fat chocolate milk with two of the most popular Girl Scout Cookie flavors to create two 14oz on-the-go beverages. The shelf-stable drinks are available in the refrigerated section or on display at participating grocery and convenience stores nationwide.

MiniClip, AGP Partner for New Strawberry Shortcake Game

Berry RushMiniclip and AG Properties (AGP) have partnered to co-create a mobile game based on the Strawberry Shortcake brand. Miniclip is set to release the game, titled Berry Rush, later this summer for iOS and Android devices.

Sanrio Announces Hello Kitty Con 2014: The First Hello Kitty Fan Convention

Hello Kitty ConSanrio has revealed details for Hello Kitty Con 2014, the first official Hello Kitty fan convention in the world. Presented in conjunction with Target, Hello Kitty Con was developed in celebration of Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary and will take place at The Geffen Contemporary at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles from October 30 to November 2.
 
Hello Kitty Con 2014 will present a full lineup of activities, including integrated workshops, lectures, panel discussions, special appearances and signings with Hello Kitty head designer Yuko Yamaguchi and others, interactive art installations, and daily artist signings. The Hello Kitty Friendship Station Pop-up Shop will offer convention exclusives; the Hello Kitty Super Supermarket will feature a curated selection of vendors offering products and experiences available only at the convention; and a Hello Kitty retrospective and vintage shop will sell rare collectibles. Other event highlights include product and collaboration previews; a tattoo shop; and photo opportunities. Hello Kitty will be on hand for special appearances and to hug fans as part of her global Share a Hug with Hello Kitty! campaign throughout the four day event.  
 
Sanrio and Target will offer limited-edition, co-branded product available only at the convention. A further offering of exclusive Hello Kitty 40th anniversary products, such as apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and toys, will be available beginning September 14 at Target stores nationwide and at target.com.

Corona Set to Make Waves at Surf Expo

CoronaThe Joester Loria Group (TJLG), the exclusive licensing agency for Constellation Brands’ beer portfolio, has tapped JGR Copa to develop a collection of Corona, Modelo Especial, and Pacifico beach accessories that complement each brand’s identity.
 
Set to launch next year, the Corona line will feature beach gear, including chairs, umbrellas, towels, blankets, mats, beach cabanas, tents, and surfboards. Each item will be offered in a variety of styles. Key features include waterproof applications, Skin Cancer Foundation UPF 50+ fabrics, built-in cup holders, and head rests. Modelo Especial and Pacifico products will follow in 2016.
 
The Corona beach collection will premiere at Surf Expo this month in Orlando. The collection will debut in resort specialty shops and national chains next spring. 

Lalaloopsy Girls Special Set to Air on Nickelodeon

A new Lalaloopsy Girls movie is set to air on Nickelodeon. The Lalaloopsy Girls: Welcome to L.A.L.A Prep School one-hour animated special will air at 12 p.m. on September 7. Jewel Sparkles, Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff, Pix E. Flutters, Bea Spells-A-Lot, Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Spot Splatter Splash, Tippy Tumblelina, Peanut Big Top, and Cloud E. Sky must learn to navigate their fun and quirky school as they attend classes, join clubs, and make new friends.

Vandor Adds Doctor Who as Newest Licensee

Vandor LCC has added the sci-fi series brand Doctor Who to its roster of licenses. The company will be a primary drinkware supplier for the Doctor Who license in the U.S. and Canada. The new collection debuted this summer, and features the show’s characters and distinctive phrases in comic book style graphics.

Breaking Bad Expands Licensing Program After Emmys Win

Breaking BadBreaking Bad picked up five Emmys in the 2014 ceremony, and will now expand its licensing programme.
 
The licensing programme, managed in the UK by independent licensing company Rocket Licensing on behalf of Sony, is still expanding as the franchise builds to satisfy the demand of the show’s growing number of fans. In the newest deal, licensed clothing producer Poeticgem has announced details of a major agreement that will see the company produce Breaking Bad nightwear, underwear and loungewear, featuring classic imagery from what is now officially one of the greatest TV shows in history. The line, which includes, pyjamas, briefs, lounge pants and onesies modelled on the infamous Los Pollos fast food restaurant, is aimed at young adults of both sexes. It will reach high street retail, fashion and gift shops this autumn.
 
Breaking Bad product at retail already includes Pyramid posters, masks from Mask-arade, and t-shirts and sweatshirts from both Trademark Products and Plastic Head. Socks from Roy Lowe and dressing gowns from Groovy, along with dress-up costumes from Smiffys, phone and tablet cases and leather-embossed notebooks from VMC will follow soon, along with a Breaking Bad Top Trumps card game. Publishing and gifting licences are expected to be announced before the end of 2014. As well as developing a licensing programme for Breaking Bad Rocket is also working with Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, for which a group of licensees is developing product for the programme’s launch on Netflix in 2015.

Milkshake and Abbey Home Media Join Forces for DVD Compilation

Milkshake!Channel 5’s Milkshake! and Abbey Home Media are combining their skills to produce a bumper DVD compilation featuring big names in pre-school television.
 
Released by Abbey Home Media on Monday 8th, September Milkshake! Stars features Peppa Pig, Thomas & Friends, Fireman Sam, Little Princess and Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom as well as new brands including Pip Ahoy!, Toby’s Travelling Circus, Chloe’s Closet, Olly the Little White Van and Jelly Jamm, in over two hours of viewing.
 
“We are delighted to team up with Milkshake! again to do what we both do best – combining our expertise and experience with a shared aim of entertaining children with vibrant, high-quality content,” says Anne Miles Managing Director Abbey Home Media.

ExtremeExtreme has announced the appointment of three new Extreme-sponsored athletes; Cam Peake, Sam Carne and Ross Welch.
 
The final addition to the Extreme roster is Ross Welch, Freestyle Skiier, who is proud to represent the sports company at tournaments and festivals as he sees himself as part of the bigger picture for the brand. Imira Entertainment Launches iMIRAPLAY on Samsung Smart TVs 

Sandra, the Fairytale DetectiveThe app will initially include five original Imira Entertainment series, both in English and Spanish languages; Lucky Fred; Sandra, the Fairytale Detective; Lola & Virginia; Saari; and Vitaminix. Five free episodes of each series will be included in the package, along with the option for users to subscribe and gain access to stream further episodes of the five shows.
 
The Samsung platform will also be launching Imira’s existing apps based on its original programming, which will be inbuilt into all new Samsung Smart TV sets at retail and is also available to all current Smart TV owners via a simple update.

Kate & Mim-Mim Sees Ratings Success on CBeebies

Kate & Mim-MimFremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment’s new preschool animated series, Kate & Mim-Mim is seeing strong ratings after its debut on CBeebies last month.
 
Consolidated BARB data for the series’ first week on air shows that Kate & Mim-Mim has proved a hit with the young audience, consistently ranking at number one in its timeslot across the channel’s key demographics.  Among children 4-6 the series won an average audience share of 21%.  The show also won an average audience share of 18% among housewives with children 0 -3.

Gavin and Stacey Star Joanna Page Voicing Poppy Cat in Second Series

Joanna PageJoanna Page is set to make a return to screens as the voice of Poppy Cat in the new second series of the children’s animation, which launches on Nick Jr. at 9am every weekday from 8th September.
 
Poppy Cat is co-produced by Coolabi's television production arm, Coolabi Productions and King Rollo Films, and was commissioned by Nick Jr. in the UK. Series one airs in more than 140 territories worldwide and is a top-rated show on Nick Jr. UK, on Sprout in the US, in France on France5 and in Spain on TVE.
 
This season will see all of the characters back again such as Zuzu the dog, Mo the Mouse, Alma the rabbit, Egbert the badger (and master of disguises) and Owl. 
 
Joanna Page comments, “It is exciting that Poppy Cat has been commissioned for a second season. All of our hard work and enthusiasm from the first series has paid off. I got involved with the show because the stories are so sweet, and it is just so great for children – all of the magical adventures which encourage them to use their imagination, and going off to different worlds, is just so wonderful.
