Disguise Partners for Shopkins, Lego Costumes

Disguise Inc., the Halloween costume division of Jakks Pacific Inc., has secured a licensing agreement with Moose Toys to create costumes and dress-up based on its collectible franchise, Shopkins. The multi-year, multi-category agreement grants Disguise the rights to distribute Shopkins-licensed products across channels in North America. The deal was brokered by The Licensing Shop Inc. The Shopkins costumes from Disguise, as well as dress-up items and accessories, will be at retailers next fall.
 
In additional Disguise news, the company has secured a licensing agreement with The Lego Group for children’s Halloween costumes, role-play, and accessories based on popular Lego characters. The multi-year, multi-category agreement grants Disguise rights to distribute its Lego-licensed products across North America, Europe, Korea, and China. The LEGO costumes from Disguise will be available at retailers next fall.

Diane Nelson to Head WBCP, Brad Globe to Step Down

Diane Nelson will add the oversight of Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) to her current responsibilities as president, DC Entertainment (DCE), and president and chief content officer, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE). The announcement was made today by Kevin Tsujihara, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros.
 
At DCE, Nelson currently leads efforts to strategically integrate the DC Comics, Vertigo, and Mad brands into Warner Bros. Entertainment and its content and distribution businesses. For WBIE, her responsibilities include overseeing the development of digitally powered console and mobile games for WBIE, including those based on DC characters and other Warner Bros. properties.
 
Brad Globe, who has served as president, WBCP since 2005, will be stepping down next spring. He will work with Nelson in the coming months to ensure a smooth management transition, and Nelson will name Globe’s successor next year.

Previously, Nelson served as president, Warner Premiere, developing and producing direct-to-DVD feature films and short-form digital content for Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s distribution businesses. She was also executive vice president, global brand management for Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Ink Global Launches Mojicons

Ink Global has announced the launch of The Mojicons, a quirky new animation that will give kids insight into a dotty digital world.
 
Created by Russian artists Alexander Romanetz and Viacheslav Marchenko, the series uses the inner-workings of the Internet as the background to the 52 x 11-minute first season. Viewers enter a world where emoticons live, when a mysterious villain appears on the scene and steals the @ symbol, bringing all electronic correspondence to a grinding halt. Mojicons then undertake a dangerous quest to restore their system.

Cynthia Rapp Appointed SVP, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) appointed Cynthia Rapp as senior vice president, global creative, where she will oversee creative, project management, and product development, leading projects from inception to launch.

Rapp will contribute to the long-term creative vision for the department, representing brands across film and TV properties. Reporting to Jeffrey Godsick, president of FCP, she will strategize to maximize and expand the business globally.

Rapp joins FCP with extensive experience in the consumer products industry for global brands including Cartoon Network, Mattel, L’Oreal, Liz Claiborne, and Calvin Klein. Previously she served as the chief marketing officer at Stila Cosmetics.

Brandgenuity Announces New Director of Business Development

Antonia Predovan has joined Brandgenuity LLC as the director of business development. In her new role, Predovan seeks to focus on hard sales and advancing prospects for new partnerships across Brandgenuity’s portfolio of brands including Winnebago Industries, Viacom’s adult entertainment properties, Edgewell Personal Care, and more.
 
Predovan recently served as the associate director of brand management at Beanstalk, managing licensing programs for the U.S. Army, Stanley, and Dewalt.

Lawless Signs New Distributors for Suzy’s Zoo Series

Lawless Entertainment signed a deal with Public Media Distribution LLC to handle U.S. and Canadian home entertainment distribution rights for the new Suzy’s Zoo animated series Adventures in Duckport.

Adventures in Duckport will teach kids ages 4 to 8 how to love and respect elders in the community. The show will feature the original Suzy’s Zoo characters with Suzy Ducken and her friends Jack Quacker, Penelope O’Quinn, and Corky Turtle.

Mondo TV will distribute the show worldwide and Public Media Distribution will handle the licensing and merchandising in North America. A sample of the Adventures in Duckport animated series will be presented for the first time at MIPCOM 2015.

Kaspersky Lab Launches Animation for Pixels Partnership

Brand & Deliver has created a 30-second power-packed animation for the cyber security software brand Kaspersky Lab to activate its partnership with Sony Pictures’ Pixels: The Movie, that released on July 24.

Brand & Deliver used the theme and footage from Pixels to promote Kaspersky Lab by focusing on the spectacle of a cyber-attack. This fully animated feature uses 2-D style graphics and flat Pixels character imagery combined with 10 seconds of live action from the movie itself.

Pixels features Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Michelle Monaghan pitched in an intergalactic battle against aliens intent on attacking earth through video games with Pac-Man and Space Invaders as the missiles in combat.

Chief Global Brand Officer at DWA Transitions to Consulting Role

Michael Francis of DreamWorks Animation (DWA) is stepping down from his fulltime duties as the chief global brand officer. Jim Fielding, the head of global consumer products will take charge of the licensing and franchise management businesses going forward.
 
Francis will continue to work for DWA as an external consultant. He plans to focus on enhancing the value of Dream Works Animation as a global family entertainment brand.

EUROPE

Manchester United and HCL Launch Global Partnership

Manchester United has entered into a global partnership with IT services company HCL Technologies. As part of this partnership, HCL and Manchester United will work together on digital initiatives intended to transform the experiences of the club's 659 million global followers.
 
HCL will create a state-of-the-art United Xperience Lab to be housed within the iconic Old Trafford stadium, located in Greater Manchester, England. Within the lab, HCL and Manchester United will explore ways in which the club can utilize technology to create a unified fan experience for supporters, and in the process set a new engagement benchmark in the world of sport.
 

DHX, Jo Jingles Partner for In the Night Garden Activity Program

DHX Brands will collaborate with Jo Jingles, a UK-based company that specializes in music, singing, and movement classes for preschoolers to create a branded In the Night Garden activity program.
 
Running throughout the fall, the interactive program will target more than 30,000 preschoolers as part of Jo Jingles’ daily classes. Making use of the music, movements, and rhymes from the whimsical In the Night Garden TV series, the branded sessions will enrich and enhance the existing preschool learning experience.
