The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story toy line was revealed on the official Star Wars YouTube channel by fans who wrote, shot, and directed a series of shorts starring the toys to kick off Go Rogue, a global user generated content (UGC) contest that asks fans to share their “Rogue Stories.”
 
Starting Sept. 30, teens and adults can enter online at StarWars.com/GoRogue. Kids ages 8 to 12 in the U.S. and parts of Canada can also participate at Disney.com/MyRogueStory. The winners will be invited to Lucasfilm in San Francisco to attend a screening of Rogue One and see their short story on the big screen.
 
Select items seen in the “Rogue Stories” will be available at mass retailers, Disney Store locations, and disneystore.com starting Sept. 2. The full collection will be available globally on Sept. 30.

Toy State to Unveil NASCAR Line at Michigan International Speedway


Toy State will debut its NASCAR-themed cars prior to this weekend’s Sprint Cup. Products from its flagship Nikko and Road Rippers lines will unveil this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.
  
The Nikko NASCAR R/C cars are built with full-function radio-control action, while Road Rippers NASCAR Come-Back Racers feature motorized driving with NASCAR sound effects.
 
In addition to NASCAR, Toy State’s lights and sound vehicles and R/C brand portfolio features licensing partnerships with brands including Caterpillar, Hot Wheels, DC Comics, Barbie, Thomas and Friends, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and WWE.

Goodyear Launches Collection of Luggage and Bags

Goodyear is set to launch its collection of luggage and bags.

The new Goodyear Luggage and Bags collection delivers a large variety of soft trolleys and hard case tough luggage for travellers who seek comfort and safety, as well as a collection of outdoor bags which provide smart technical features for voyagers planning long excursions.

Useful accessories, such as wallets and waist belt/hip pack, complete and complement the Goodyear Luggage and Bags range. Backpacks come with rubber details and racing inspired looks are reminiscent of Goodyear’s motorsports and racing heritage - from the tracks of Formula 1 to Nascar Racing.

Intex Entertainment Introduces Family Games Inspired by Nestlē Candy Brands

Intex Enterainment Inc. has entered into a licensing agreement with Nestlē for a new line of candy-themed family games.
 
This partnership allows Intex Entertainment to produce games using popular Nestlē brands, such as Nerds, Laffy Taffy, Pixy Stix, SweeTARTS, Runts, Butterfinger, Crunch, and others. From the Laffy Taffy Guess-the-Joke game, to the Nerds Dancin’ Dice game, each product in the range takes elements of the candy brands and creates a unique play experience for the whole family. The initial product assortment will be available this fall at major retailers across North America.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition Set to Premiere

Based on Jurassic World, NBCUniversal Brand Development and Imagine Exhibitions will launch the North American premiere of Jurassic World: The Exhibition on November 25 for a limited engagement at the renowned, The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

 The one-of-a-kind exhibition will offer a rare look at life-size animatronic dinosaurs, designed by Creature Technology Company (Walking with Dinosaurs), set in themed environments inspired by Jurassic World, one of the largest blockbusters in cinematic history, and the fourth highest grossing film of all time. Guests can visit the world-class Exhibition in the Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pavilion and the Mandell Center at The Franklin Institute through April 2017. The larger-than-life Exhibition made its world premiere in Melbourne, Australia at the Melbourne Museum in March 2016 and has achieved record-breaking attendance.

Merchantwise Continues Gumnut Babies Centenary Celebrations

The 100 year celebrations for May Gibbs’ first book Gumnut Babies continue with the release of a centenary hardcover edition of the much-loved title this month from HarperCollins Children’s Books, Australia and an exclusive video storytelling presentation from singer Elly-May Barnes (daughter of Australian rock icon, Jimmy Barnes) of the timeless tales first published in 1916 by the much revered Author and Illustrator. 

To celebrate the continued success of May’s iconic bush babies, HarperCollins Children’s Books, Australia has released a beautiful new centenary edition of Gumnut Babies that has been redesigned to showcase May’s original illustrations and also includes a bonus biography on the enigmatic Cecilia May Gibbs.

Nelvana, Disney Channels Worldwide Sign Deal for Polly and the ZhuZhu Pets TV Series

Nelvana licensed the multi-territory broadcast and on-demand rights for Polly and the ZhuZhu Pets to Disney Channels Worldwide.
 
The series will air on Disney Channel in the U.S. on Sept. 12, followed by Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The Canadian premiere date will be announced at a later date.

Duda and Duda Seeing Success in Russia

The animation series “Duda and Dada” (52x13’ South Korea EBS/Eyescream) has become one of the most successful TV first runs of this summer in Russia.

The Russian TV premiere of the first and second seasons of the animation series took place on the TV Channel Carousel at the end of May, and in August Carousel will continue broadcasting the series for the third time each morning on weekdays by three episodes daily. In July TIJI Pay TV channel for kids started broadcasting of the series. 

Duda and Dada has seen wide PR coverage in Russia, including entertaining materials in magazines for children and parents, Internet banner ads, contests, brand’s integration in events for children. 

“Thanks to our partnership with CLS, Duda&Dada has been airing on Carousel since May 2015, and has quickly become a staple program on Carousel, widely regarded as the leading channel of children's content. It is our desire that Duda&Dada becomes an ambassador of Korean content in countries around the world, and having a big impact in Russia," said Byungsun Choi, CEO of Eyescream.

Sizzle Press to Release Sago Mini Book Series

Bonnier Publishing USA will release original storybooks featuring characters from the Sago Mini apps designed for toddlers and preschoolers.
 
The board book Jinja’s Surprise! will be available this month, and will let readers hide snacks, decorations, games, and more throughout the book. Cozy Christmas: A Touch-and-Feel-Book will also be released this month. Readers will be able to touch and feel Robin’s wool scarf, Yeti’s sled, snowflakes, and other items that encourage sensory stimulation.
 
Two additional titles will be released in December: Wake and Sleep: A-Lift-the-Flap Book and More Hugs! 

Happy Toon World Appoints V.I.P. as Exclusive Agent for German Speaking Markets

Happy Toon World, the US based children’s entertainment company consisting of 75 junior/mini versions of world-famous characters, including Little Franken-stein, Little Tinkerbell and Little Cinderella, has appointed V.I.P. Entertainment & Merchandising AG, Hamburg, to exclusively represent all characters for licensing/merchandising opportunities in German speaking markets.

Precious Moments Renews Partnership with Three Licensees

Precious Moments Inc. renewed licensing agreements with three companies.
 
Designs by Gloria and Pat will continue to publish branded digital cross-stitch books and patterns in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, France, Korea, Philippines, and Singapore.
 
Cherokee Child Caskets will continue to manufacture branded caskets, urns, memorial books, and monuments for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
 
The Bradford Exchange/Hamilton Collection will continue to produce branded figurines, water balls, and train sets. The company will continue to create and sell products worldwide through 2020.

Licensing Japan 2016 Becomes Its Largest Show to Date

The sixth Licensing Japan was held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center this summer and attracted exhibitors from 11 countries and regions. Compared to last year, the show was twice as large and the number of visitors was up 33 percent.
 
In addition to popular Japanese characters such as Godzilla, Detective Conan, Rilakkuma, Hanakappa, Kanahei’s Small Animals, Monchhhichi, and Peko, the show also exhibited Angry Birds, Barbie, the Smurfs, Where’s Wally, The Snowman, Ghostbusters, and Rody. Many brands attended, including Nissan, Japan Airlines, Rover, Hershey’s, Laura Ashley, Automobili Lamborghini, and Jeep.
 
The number of exhibitors from outside Japan increased, with a variety of brand and property owners from the UK, France, Italy, Spain, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and more.
 
The Art & Design Zone was a new addition this year, where the UK’s National Gallery exhibited works by painters including Van Gogh and Monetand.
 
Next year’s expo will include three new specialized areas: Character and Entertainment Zone, Brand Zone, and Art and Design. Exhibitors may contact show management to book their booth for next year. EatWith, MasterChef Partner to Bring Fans a MasterChef Dining Experience

Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
 
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
