  Barbie Partners with Girl Scouts for First Barbie Patch

Barbie and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) have partnered to create the first Barbie "Be Anything, Do Everything" patch. The participation patch is designed to inspire the next generation of female leaders by encouraging girls to explore career possibilities through new program activities. The Barbie doll has been featured with more than 135 careers for more than five decades, and GSUSA has been dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character for more than 100 years. In the spirit of Barbie's career path and GSUSA's heritage, the "Be Anything, Do Everything" participation patch allows Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies (girls in kindergarten through third grade) to explore career choices through the "I Can Be..." activity booklet.

The partnership is founded on the development of activities that encourage and inspire girls nationwide to explore a variety of careers. With the core theme "Be Anything, Do Everything," this partnership reaches girls online and offline, and includes an activity booklet, a special patch, and a digital game and poll.

  First Moscow Licensing Event Gears Up

The first edition of the Moscow Licensing Event, organized by BolgonaFiere Spa through its local partner, is now three weeks away.

Taking place at the Radisson Royal, globally known brands, from automotive to cartoons will match with Russia-based companies based on a structured agenda built for each company attending, and following the particular needs of each participant. It has been a huge matching job by the organizers, BolognaFiere Spa, following both the requests of the international market and from Russian companies themselves.

It is the first licensing matching date event of its genre in the country. Companies such as IMG Worldwide, Automobili Lamborghini, Mondo TV Consumer Products, JELC Brands Extension Russia, Sega Publishing, AS Roma Football Club, and Gruppo Spes, will be in attendance, meeting more than 70 potential Russian partners in one day.

  Thinkway Toys, My Baby Excels Partner for Planes Product Launch

Coinciding with the release of Disney's Planes in theaters, My Baby Excels and Thinkway Toys have launched an interactive range of high quality toys and plush of the movie characters, including Dusty, Ripslinger, and El Chupacabra.

The product line includes U–Command Super Charged Dusty, Dusty Bubbles Plane, Rubber Band Sky Gliders, and Dusty and Skipper 10–inch plush. All toys are suitable for kids ages 4 and up and are available across leading stores and e–commerce websites.

  Care Bears Making InRoads into China

American Greetings Properties (AGP) has announced its first licensing deals in China for the Care Bears franchise. The agreements with MINDStyle and B&AB Limited mark a step into the territory providing AGP with a retail footprint that will introduce the franchise into the market through a range of apparel and accessories. The agreements, brokered by Medialink, will also usher in Care Bears fashions to the Philippines, Thailand, India, and South Korea.

MINDStyle will focus on using local artwork, environments, and patterns to create apparel, accessories, gift, and novelty lines that suit the local taste while introducing the Care Bears in a culturally accessible fashion.

"China is a priority market for our team, and we've selected the right partners to create our brand recognition," said Carla Silva, vice president of global licensing for AGP. "This is a long–term strategy for us, and we're looking to grow the Care Bears franchise significantly in the years to come."

  Ubisoft and Sony Pictures Collaborate for Watch Dogs Movie

Ubisoft has announced that its film and TV division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, is collaborating with Sony Pictures Entertainment and New Regency on a film based on Watch Dogs, Ubisoft's open–world action–adventure video game. Ubisoft and Sony will also release the Watch Dogs videogame for PlayStation 4 this holiday season.

Watch Dogs centers on Aiden Pearce, a hacker set to inflict his own brand of justice after a violent family tragedy. Using his skills, Pearce hacks into Chicago's Central Operating System (ctOS), which controls the city's infrastructure. In the game, Pearce turns the entire city of Chicago into his ultimate weapon.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures will oversee the project at Ubisoft, and Hannah Minghella and Sam Dickerman will oversee development at Columbia, while Alexandra Milchan and Andrew Calof will work on the film for New Regency.

  Moshi's Poppet to Star at Hamleys

Poppet, one of the most popular characters from Moshi Monsters, will see her own dedicated Poppet Boutique area at Hamleys beginning in September.

The first stand–alone stationary range for Poppet launched last November. Customers will be able to purchase the new toy line launching September 6, which will include a Poppet Goes Playset, Talking Poppet, and Poppet's Secret Journal.

Hamleys hosted a competition on their website to offer 50 winners the chance to party with Poppet and have the first look at the new boutique, which will stock everything from toys, arts and crafts, jewelry, toiletries, and apparel.

The launch of the Poppet Boutique will also see an exclusively designed Poppet gown made with Swarovski crystals, which be on display in Hamleys throughout September. A free virtual item of the Poppet dress will be available at the event, to feature in the competition winner's rooms on

  Zodiak Kids Launches Tickety Toc Apparel Across Canada

In a partnership with Studio Licensing, Zodiak Kids is set to launch a line of boys' and girls' apparel and boys' sleepwear based on the preschool show Tickety Toc, exclusively at Canadian Walmart stores.

The licensed tops and sleepwear by manufacturers NTD and Paris Geneve feature a range of unique designs and popular characters from the TV show, which airs on Disney Junior and the Family Channel in Canada. The apparel launch will be supported by a strong marketing campaign through a range of in–store, online, and social media initiatives.

  Battersea Cats & Dogs Home and Random House Join Forces

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has signed a major agreement with Random House Children's Books for color picture books and activity/sticker books. The partnership will see original stories about the Home being created for young children, which will be illustrated by the artist Jason Chapman.

This new deal extends the relationship between Battersea and Random House, which already publishes the Home's popular Young Fiction series and will feature color picture books about the dogs and cats at the Home to be written and illustrated for preschool children.

The Home's other publishing partners include Penguin, which will be publishing a collection of adult non-fiction Battersea stories early next year, and Octopus Publishin, which will publish Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Guide to Choosing the Best Dog for You.

Lucy McCredie, Licensing Consultant for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home said: "We are really thrilled to extend our relationship with Random House and are looking forward to working on this exciting new series for young children especially as royalties from sales will support Battersea in its work of caring for thousands of lost, unwanted, and abandoned dogs and cats every year."

  Care Bears and Bunny King Combine for Retail in Asia

AG Properties and international licensing agent Medialink have debuted a limited&time partnership for Care Bears with Bunny King in Asia, as this region remains increasingly important to the brand with more than 400 Bunny King items in retail locations across China.

The one–year promotion combines the Care Bears with the famous Hong Kong–based character, Bunny King. The crossover effort will combine both brands in a line of bags, stationery, and accessories throughout Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Indonesia. It comes on the heels of a similar co–branding deal secured with Medialink for the brand Rody in Taiwan.

  Topps Teams with Suk in Italy

Topps has partnered with Suk, the Italian–based company that created QUBI, to launch the brand for the first time in the U.S.

"We are very excited to be working with Topps," says Eddy Jamous, president and CEO of SUK. "Their long–term success in the sports collectible industry made them the natural partner for QUBIs launch in the U.S."

There are 75 different MLB QUBIs, which include the likes of Major League All–Stars Buster Posey, Miguel Cabrera, Bryce Harper, Prince Fielder, Matt Kemp, and more. "This product reinforces Topps commitment to producing unique, fun and interactive items for kids," said Clay Luraschi, Topps vice president of product development.

  The Jim Henson Co. Signs Licensing Agreements for Frog and Toad

Acting as the representitive in the U.S. and Canada for the Arnold Lobel children's book series Frog and Toad, The Jim Henson Co.has signed the first two licensees for the property in the U.S.

Yottoy will develop Frog and Toad toys for its Classic Collection, which features hand-designed toys based on characters from children's literature. Clothworks has designed a collection of Frog and Toad Together fabrics based on the illustrations in the Frog and Toad books.

  Lisle Ramps up Temple Run Program

Lisle International has unveiled more licensing partners for the digital property Temple Run, with merchandise already available for apparel and core categories, including accessories, bags, magazines, and annuals to arrive in market soon.

In addition, Forbidden Planet will launch early September with a Temple Run merchandise range covering apparel, bags, gifts, and novelties; and a new worldwide deal will bring National Geographic Temple Run books to the UK.

Gayle Tarrant from Lisle International commented: "The new partners are perfect both for the Temple Run license as they have great synergy with the brand and also for the players of the game itself as the crossover of audience is obvious."

News of the new deals comes following a recent announcement that the six–time Olympic Gold Medalist and world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, is the latest playable character in Temple Run 2.

  Lauren Moshi Introduces New Licenses to Fashion Collection

Artist and contemporary fashion designer Lauren Moshi has teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products for a stylish spin on some of the most iconic characters in entertainment—Looney Tunes' Tweety and several of DC Comics' most famed Super Heroes, including Wonder Woman, Batman, Batgirl, Superman, and Supergirl.

Moshi's designs include a clothed Tweety with oversized, heart–shaped feet; the Wonder Woman emblem; the Batman symbol (also worn by Batgirl); and Superman's iconic S–Shield (also upheld by Supergirl).

As with all original Lauren Moshi artwork, the designs will be silk–screened onto T–shirts, dresses, tote bags, and other fashion garments. The collection will be available at online and specialty retail boutiques such as,, Lester's, and Singer22, as well as the Lauren Moshi Flagship Boutique on Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles. The designs are set to hit stores over a period of six months starting this fall.

  Hoho Rights Secures International Rights for Toddler Time

Hoho Rights, the commercial arm and wholly–owned subsidiary of kids production and rights company Hoho Entertainment, has secured the international licensing and merchandising rights to publishing franchise Toddler Time.

Toddler Time was first published by The Creative Studio and began as an interactive book titled Toddler Treasury, which was quickly followed by Toddler Christmas. The books, which are led by toddler twins Amy and Archie, are illustrated by Katie Saunders and feature contemporary artwork that combines bold colors with mixed patterns.

Toddler Time books are intended to both entertain and inform toddlers. Key learning opportunities are identified at the beginning of each book to ensure that the toddler is learning correctly, and so parents and kids can enjoy the experience together.

The Toddler Time series has sold more than 240,000 copies in 16 languages. The franchise will offer a full series of new book formats, set to hit the UK, the U.S., and other international markets in the next year.

  kaboom! Secures Mass Retail Placement for DVD Gift Sets

kaboom! Entertainment, the kids and family label for Phase 4 Films, has secured a placement with Walmart in Canada for Octonauts and My Big Big Friend DVD gift sets to be sold in–store starting November 19.

Both titles are represented by Treehouse Presents, the DVD label created by Corus and Phase 4 Films. The two companies' partnership has generated more than 8 million units in sales. kaboom! has distributed 26 brands under the Treehouse Presents label.

Earlier this year, kaboom! Entertainment inked a deal with Walmart Canada to create a 4–foot dedicated Treehouse Presents section in the home entertainment department. kaboom! Entertainment has created 20 exclusives products for the section since it launched in March.

kaboom! represents the home entertainment rights in Canada to Silvergate Media's Octonauts and Breakthrough Entertainment's Canadian/Brazilian co–production My Big Big Friend, which air on Treehouse TV in Canada.

The Octonauts collection will include three DVDs of the TV series based on the books by Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy, of Meomi Design Inc. The My Big Big Friend collection will also include three DVDs of the Treehouse TV preschool series. Both DVD collections will be included in national gift set programs and will be in–store at Walmart's 321 locations in Canada.
