  Marvel Adds New Apparel Partners for Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel Entertainment has signed an agreement with Mad Engine, C-Life, and New Era for a line of apparel and accessories inspired by Marvel's Guardians of The Galaxy, in theaters August 1, 2014. As the first apparel partners for the film, C–Life, Mad Engine, and New Era join other licensees, including Hasbro, Disguise, and Sideshow Collectibles for an overall merchandising program for the latest Marvel film franchise.

Mad Engine and C–Life will serve as the core apparel licensees with a line of T–shirts and fleece for boys and men, while New Era will develop signature co–branded headwear and hats inspired by the Marvel property.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt (Star–Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and Benicio del Toro (The Collector). The film follows Peter Quill (aka Star–Lord), Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon as they join forces to defeat a cosmic force.

  SPCP Announces Licensing Initiatives for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) has announced retail programs and worldwide placement for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which released in theaters on August 21. Products are available in multiple categories, such as fashion apparel, accessories, publishing, costumes, and more.

U.S. licenses include Bioworld Merchandising for T–shirts, fashion tops, leggings, hoodies, loungewear, socks, hats, bags, accessories, and fashion jewelry; Tripp NYC for fashion apparel at Hot Topic; Jewelry on 7th for fine jewelry; Underground Toys Ltd. for tattoos, phone covers, novelty items, replicas, and journals; Simon & Schuster Inc. for The Shadow Hunters Guide Book and Official Movie Companion Guide; Running Press Book Publishers for a Mini Kit, including a sticker book, a rune necklace, tattoos, and magnets; Trends International for weekly calendars, writing instruments, and bookmarks; Play First for mobile gaming; Leaf Trading Cards for trading cards; Tonner Doll Co. for collector's fashion dolls with accessories; and Rubie's Costume Co. for costumes and costume accessories (wigs, face and body makeup, prosthetics, hats, and headwear).

International licenses include Sunset (Europe) for T–shirts, fashion tops, hoodies, loungewear, socks, hats, bags, accessories, and replica jewelry; Walker Books (UK and Australia) for Tie–in book, journal, and book of quotes; Pyramid (Europe, UK, Australia, and New Zealand) for posters, wall art, calendars, mugs, and wristbands; My Flash Trash (Europe, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand) for fashion jewelry; Gear for Games (Europe and Australia) for tattoos, phone covers, novelty items, replicas, and journals; Laurelle London (worldwide excluding U.S. and Canada) for perfumes and fragrances; Haber (Russia, CIS) for back–to–school and stationery; Mantiburi (Europe) for wall art and window stickers; Happy Toys (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) for accessories, bags, notebooks, blankets, and pillows; Ripol (Russia, CIS) for tie–in books and phone and tablet skins and covers; MM Media (Germany) for tarot cards and T–shirts; and Hybris (Nordics) for T–shirts, hoodies, and caps.

  Mind Candy Announces First Moshi Monsters Film

Mind Candy has announced the first Moshi Monsters film set for theatrical release in the UK and Ireland on December 20. Universal Pictures International Entertainment will be the global distribution partner for the animation, including theatrical, home entertainment, digital, and TV distribution.

The animated feature Moshi Monsters The Movie is currently in production by Mind Candy in conjunction with Cornwall-based animation studio Spider Eye. The film will take viewers all over the Moshi world from Main St. to the peak of Sillimanjaro.

Moshi Monsters has experienced global success with more than 80 million registered users for the web–based game to date. Following its online success, Moshi has become an entertainment franchise spanning toys, books, video games, trading cards, membership cards, a UK kids' magazine, and mobile games.

  Breaking Bad and Rasta Imposta Partner for Halloween Costumes

Rasta Imposta, a manufacturer of licensed Halloween costumes, has signed with Sony Pictures Television to produce Breaking Bad Halloween costumes for the Halloween season.

As the only officially licensed Halloween costume for Breaking Bad in the U.S., Rasta Imposta's costume will be the Hazmat suit worn by Walter White from the TV show. The costume will include the yellow Hazmat suit, a red and black Hazmat mask, blue gloves, and a goatee.

  Brand Informer Goes Live

The Brand Informer Ltd. in the UK is now live ( The site provides a virtual shop window for brands and retailers. Brand owners are able to upload information regarding their licensed products, detailed product attributes, the target markets, product video demonstrations, and multiple images. In addition, retailers are provided with all necessary information on how to purchase. A brand overview can also be detailed as well as highlighting future key brand activation dates to assist with retail forward planning.

The Brand Informer has been designed to sit within a retailer's intranet site so that it becomes an integral tool for buyers. Buyers will be able to search for products through option choice and filtering systems to enable them to find the specific product they are searching for. Products and brand information is displayed in a uniform manner making information gathering simple and straightforward.

  Fancy Nancy Signs New Partners

Creative Education of Canada and Piggy Paint have partnered with HarperCollins Children's Books to create new product lines for the Fancy Nancy series. Under their Great Pretenders line, Creative Education will produce costumes, costume accessories for role play (hats, tiaras, crowns, wands, slippers, purses, wigs, jewelry, and hair accessories), UV–protected swimwear, color–a–cape, and color–a–crown. The products will be available in the U.S. and Canada across all channels of distribution. Piggy Paint will develop a natural, eco–friendly range of nail polish, nail polish kits, and nail decals. Piggy Paint products are non-toxic and hypoallergenic.

Both product ranges will launch next spring in time to support the picture book release, Fancy Nancy and the Wedding of the Century, hitting shelves in March. The deals were brokered by U.S. licensing agent Established Brands on behalf of HarperCollins Children's Books.

  Discovery Communications Debuts Apparel Inspired by Multiple Hit Series

Discovery Communications is set to debut new apparel lines inspired by Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and Velocity series. Mad Engine has produced men's T–shirts for Amish Mafia and Gator Boys, with both lines available for retail at select Walmart stores. Bioworld has produced a line of T–shirts featuring sayings and character art from Moonshiners, currently available at Walmart and Shopko. Additionally, a line of Overhaulin' T–shirts are now available at retail.

Club Red has produced men's shirts that also feature sayings from Moonshiners and Call of the Wildman, which are available at outdoor retailers, including Blain's Farm Fleet, Mattoon Rural King, Orscheln's, and Tractor Supply Canada. Changes has produced Call of the Wildman T–shirts, available at Belk, Kohl's, Southern Outfitters, and Newberry Comics.

The T–shirt lines are part of Discovery Communications' expanding merchandising program that encompasses a variety of lifestyle, kids, and novelty products based on the network's programming.

  Aadarsh Pvt. Ltd. Expands Purple Turtle Book Range

Purple Turtle Books is expanding its reach to Southern India with publication in languages including Tamil, Telugu & Kannada. Prism Books of Bangalore have licensed Purple Turtle books.

Purple Turtle, licensed by Aadarsh Pvt. Ltd. not only has its footprints in India but countries including Russia, Ukraine, and many more. It is designed to educate small children around the world in a fun way.

Prism is a highly accomplished publishing and distribution company in India. Known for quality in publishing and customer services, Prism has carved a niche for itself in the Indian publishing industry.

  Global Pursuit Named Licensing Agent for CUIPO

Global Pursuit Co. has been named as the exclusive licensing agent for Cuipo, the international lifestyle brand and initiative dedicated to preserving rainforests worldwide. Global Pursuit will represent the brand in the U.S. and territories throughout Asia, including Greater China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and India.

Cuipo utilizes a model for combining green education, brand activation, and product licensing to raise awareness about the rainforest and deforestation. Cuipo encompasses three sub-brands: Cuipo Roots, Cuipo Kids, and Cuipo Water. To date, the brand has developed more than 70 licensed categories ranging from Sprout biodegradable watches and SIGG reusable bottles to Gund plush toys and Enesco giftware and home décor items. The company has also collaborated with the Surfrider Foundation, INT Surfboards, Panda Bamboo Bicycles, Prints on Wood, Ubiquity Records, Nirve Bicycles, and others on the development of co–branded apparel and goods.

As part of its mission, Cuipo has also partnered with the indigenous Kuna of Panama to create handmade goods using techniques specific to ancient Kuna culture. Through Project Good Hands, the Kuna of Ubkisukun is able to provide income for its families by making handmade Cuipo beaded bracelets. The bracelets can be purchased on the Cuipo site.

  Beyblade: Evolution Set to Debut This Fall

Beyblade: Evolution, the first Beyblade game to be developed for the Nintendo 3DS, will release in Europe and the U.S. this fall backed by a worldwide marketing campaign with support from publisher Rising Star Games, licensing agent Nelvana Enterprises, and master toy licensee Hasbro.

Beyblade: Evolution is just one element of a major rebrand for the property. The marketing campaign includes extensive, multi-territory cross-promotion, incorporating TV, radio, print, online, in–store tournaments, and social media. Beyblade: Evolution will also be shown at Gamescom.

  Shout! Factory and Hasbro Studios Partner for Animated Series

Shout! Factory and Hasbro Studios have announced a new distribution agreement to bring a library of nine animated adventure movies and pop culture TV hits to the home entertainment marketplace in the U.S and Canada.

This multi–year, multi-property alliance provides Shout! Factory exclusive rights to My Little Pony animated family adventures, including My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade, My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas, My Little Pony: Runaway Rainbow, My Little Pony: Dancing in the Clouds, and My Little Pony: Friends are Never Far Away. The deal also includes TV properties Transformers Animated (2007-2009 TV series), Transformers: Armada (2002 TV series), Transformers: Energon (2004 TV series), and Transformers: Cybertron (2005 TV series).

  Anchor Bay, My Gym Partner for Chuggington Promotion

Anchor Bay Entertainment and My Gym have partnered to celebrate the latest title in the Chuggington DVD Series and the 30th anniversary of My Gym, the leading fitness center destination for children with hundreds of locations across the U.S. The collaboration will help spread the word about the latest DVD, Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue, in nearly 160 My Gym locations. The promotion began this month and runs through September 19. Chuggington airs weekdays on Disney Channel and daily on Disney Junior. The series is currently in its third season.

To help support the release of Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue, participating My Gym locations will feature Chuggington window clings displayed in each facility as well as counter cards with coupons for a discount on the purchase of the new DVD or any other Chuggington DVD. Young gym-goers will also receive Chuggington sticker sheets after each class. In addition, the Chuggington theme song will be integrated into gym classes and a video clip will be played on a loop on My Gym TVs.

The partnership will be featured on the Partners page of the My Gym website as well as on My Gym's social media pages. My Gym e–newsletters flagging the collaboration with art from the new release also will be distributed to 400,000 subscribers. In celebration of its 30th anniversary, My Gym is hosted a nationwide contest in search of America's fittest family, with Chuggington DVDs included among the prizes. Anchor Bay will highlight My Gym with full–panel inserts in the packaging of all Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue DVDs. The company also will provide exposure for My Gym on the Chuggington social media pages.

  Diesel Launches New DC Comics Collection

Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA has announced the launch of a new DC Comics Super Heroes intimate collection from Diesel. The underwear collection is inspired by the classic 1966 Batman TV series that starred Adam West as the Caped Crusader and transformed Batman into an icon of popular culture.

Available now at retail across Europe, the collection has a distinctively retro feel which is reflective of the pop art style of the show that featured the original crime fighting duo who stopped at nothing to defend Gotham City from the most notorious villains.

Through the use of color and images of the heroes and rogues that were featured in the series, including Batman, Robin, The Joker, and Penguin, the new Diesel range includes Batman comic boxers, Batmobile boxers, Batman climbing boxers, and Batman enemy boxers.

  Game of 2 Halves to Represent Twitter Property @IQuoteForHer

Game of 2 Halves has signed on to represent the twitter handle @IQuoteForHer, the first Twitter property to be licensed. @IQuoteForHer has more than 81,000 followers thanks to insightful messages in 140 characters and a fan base that continues to grow. The brand offers the opportunity to capitalize on the trend for word-based, rather than image-based products using more than 600 hilarious and unique quotes across licensing categories, such as apparel, accessories, greetings, stationery, publishing, and more.

  New Appointments At Outfit7

Outfit7, the rapidly growing international entertainment network, has expanded its European management team with the appointment of two new executives at Outfit7's UK subsidiary to oversee the global licensing portfolio and brand strategy for Talking Tom and Talking Friends.

Blanco has been appointed as senior licensing director and Randeep Sidhu is now the senior brand director. In the new role of senior licensing director for EMEA, Blanco will advise the management team and implement Outfit7's licensing strategy across the region. She will build on the growing roster of licensees and identify new agents to ensure Talking Tom and Talking Friends are available in all territories and in key merchandise categories. Blanco will also oversee licensing for Latin America, giving the company international representation together with colleagues in the U.S. and the recent appointment of Cindy Um to oversee Asia Pacific.

Sidhu takes on the newly created role of senior brand director with the responsibility of advising on the global brand management of Outfit7's portfolio of products. He will work with the company's regional teams to develop the global brand strategy and positioning for Talking Tom, Talking Friends, and the new Outfit7 entertainment properties under development. In this new role, Sidhu will also add value to the teams in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. implementing media solutions with partners worldwide.

Both executives report to Outfit7's Chief Operating Officer, Alessandro Traverso.

Seventeen Magazine and It'Sugar have partnered for the exclusive launch of a new candy line featuring more than 30 items, including "It Doesn't Suck" lollipops, "Eat Your Words" gummy alphabets, horoscope mint tins, and more. The candy line is available online and in stores nationwide.

  The Foundation Promotes Gwen Hughes to Managing Director

The Foundation, a part of Zodiak Media, has promoted Gwen Hughes to managing director. In a career spanning 30 years, Hughes has worked across news, sports, drama, and children's TV in a variety of production roles. Her credits include Cats Eyes, Ruth Rendell Mysteries, The Big Breakfast, Motormouth, and Dramarama.

After joining The Foundation in 1996 as production assistant, Hughes worked on Finger Tips (Prix Jeunesse), Stephen & Holly's Saturday Showdown (Children's BAFTA), Waybuloo for CBeebies, and the new pre-school series, Tickety Toc.
