Sony Pictures Consumer Products Announces Global Licensing Opportunities for Pixels

Sony Pictures Consumer Products is looking to recruit a roster of global partners to develop a multi-category licensing program supporting the action comedy Pixels, to be released next summer.
In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. Pixels is a Columbia Pictures presentation in association with LStar Capital, and is a Happy Madison / 1492 Films production in association with One More Production. 

eOne Unveils New Partners, Marketing Initiatives for Skelanimals


Entertainment One Licensing has revealed details of its long-term strategy for lifestyle brand Skelanimals, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2016. The company has 2-minute long shorts in production and due for delivery in the spring. Later this year, a newly refreshed website and social media platforms are set to launch with interactive features.

In addition, the brand is collaborating with Iron Fist, Tripp NYC, Loungefly, and Goodie Two Sleeves for a range of apparel and accessories targeted to the boutique and specialty market. Tripp NYC will create hoodies and fashion separates; Goodie Two Sleeves will develop tees and fleece for juniors and young men; Loungefly will produce fashion bags, wallets, coin purses, plush bags, backpack clips, jewelry, and novelty items; and Iron Fist will make fashion tops and bottoms, blouses, sweaters, coats, dresses, jumpsuits, and footwear.

AG Properties, Just Play Launch New Care Bears Toy Line

Care BearsA new partnership between AG Properties (AGP) and Just Play will bring a new Care Bears toy line to major retail outlets this fall. The Just Play toy line will feature plush, as well as an assortment of Care Bears figures and play sets that will give children the chance to create special connections and enjoy make-believe adventures.
Arriving at U.S. retailers nationwide in September, the line will feature Cheer Bear, Funshine Bear, Share Bear, Harmony Bear, Tenderheart Bear, and Grumpy Bear, all of which help teach kids about emotions, empathy, and caring. The Just Play toys extend an expansive Care Bears consumer reach across multiple categories.

Epic Rights Partners with North American Licensees for KISS Apparel Lines

KISSEpic Rights has finalized agreements with Hybrid Apparel, Fifth Sun, Impact Apparel, Junk Food, and Signorelli in the U.S; and Xtreme Worldwide, Philcos, and Trevco Inc. in Canada, to create and deliver a new KISS apparel line. The line is intended to have diverse audience appeal, from youth to adults, and will be available at retailers everywhere across North America. Initial lines will be available this fall, with the majority set to launch next spring.
The apparel will include T-shirts, fashion tops, hoodies, loungewear, accessories featuring new artwork inspired by iconic KISS imagery throughout the years, including band photos, album covers, tour poster art, and new logo development.
Epic Rights will also launch a social media campaign targeting KISS Army fans who pledge their support to KISS, their licensees, and retailers. 

Sofia Vergara, Kay Jewelers Partner for Jewelry Collection

Sofia VergaraActress Sofia Vergara has partnered with Kay Jewelers to launch her jewelry collection, Sofia Vergara so Sofia. The line includes rings, necklaces, earrings, and bangle bracelets and many are set with diamonds and semi-precious gemstones, including amethyst, tanzanite, and topaz. Sofia Vergara so Sofia is available exclusively at select Kay Jewelers stores and online at 

FMNA Partners With Mad Engine, Chronicle Books for Loteria Brand

LoteriaFremantleMedia North America (FMNA) will expand the Loteria brand through two new partnerships with Mad Engine and Chronicle Books. FMNA is the licensing agent for Loteria and has continued to seek new opportunities to expand the brand surrounding the iconic Latin American traditional game.
Mad Engine will introduce a full line of apparel including tanks, tops, hooded pullovers, zip fleece, and infant onesies. The clothing line will include items for men, women, juniors, girls, and boys. Chronicle Books will bring a host of stationery products to market this fall across North America, the UK, and Australia. Items will include journals, notebooks, and note cards that will feature trademark Loteria images. 

Worx Toys Signs on for Poopeez

PoopeezBrandberry has signed Worx Toys as the master toy partner for Poopeez, and will roll out a book and plush program that introduces all of the Poopeez characters. The potty training brand offers a comical twist on life’s stinkiest moments and each Poopeez character has a unique personality and humanistic qualities.
Bare Tree Media will launch virtual goods for the brand and Alley Oop Toys will remain on as the novelty toys licensee. Brandberry plans to announce additional licensees for Poopeez in the future. 

Bendon Group, Playboy Partner for Intimate Apparel Collection

Bendon Group has partnered with Playboy Enterprises for Biofit x Playboy, a collaborative intimate apparel collection. The line is available now and includes bras and panties sets in various colors, prints, and fabrics, as well as a corset. 

Party City, WBCP Partner to Celebrate Scooby-Doo’s Birthday

Scooby DooParty City and Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) will celebrate Scooby-Doo’s birthday with the release of a new line of Scooby-Doo party tableware. The products feature the canine detective against green and teal backgrounds and include paper plates, napkins, cups, balloons, streamers, birthday banners, and more. Party supply kits will be available online and in Party City stores.

Bioworld Debuts Corona, Modelo Apparel Lines at MAGIC Market Week

CoronaBioworld Merchandising is debuting new apparel, board shorts, headwear, and footwear lines for beer brands Corona Extra and Modelo Especial this week at MAGIC Market Week in Las Vegas. Bioworld developed the apparel lines to feature styles and silhouettes influenced by each brand and ongoing trends in fashion. The collections will launch at specialty retailers this spring.

TJLG Expands The World of Eric Carle Infant and Toddler Program

The Joester Loria Group (TJLG) brokered new deals for its client, The World of Eric Carle, to expand on current infant and toddler collections.
Using The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other characters from Carle’s books, Intimo has signed on to develop a line of toddler sleepwear, robes, ponchos, and T-shirts in the U.S. and Canada. The collection will launch this holiday season at department stores and independent retailers nationwide.
In addition, H.I.S. Juveniles will add to its World of Eric Carle line of infant travel and safety items with a new line of layette, blankets, and soft bath products set to launch next spring. 

Coveroo Names New CEO and Head of Marketing and Product

Christopher Boone Coveroo has named Christopher Boone as new CEO and Peter Tomassi as head of marketing and product for the company. Boone and Tomassi will forge new partnerships in licensing and manufacturing, develop Coveroo as an engine for customization, and give major brands and their customers opportunities to create unique products.
Boone previously held positions at Cimbal Inc. as president and CEO; at Visuvi as top executive; and at AppCentral as CEO. He holds more than a dozen patents in mobile payment, authentication, virtualization, and distributed networks. Tomassi was most recently SVP of product and marketing at Redbubble. Previously, he held product and marketing positions with EducationDynamics and led the creative and product development teams at Looksmart as executive producer and editor-in-chief.

Percy Makes National Debut on Day Out With Thomas: The Thrill of the Ride Tour 2014

Thomas the Train Engine’s best friend Percy will make his national debut at the Day Out with Thomas: The Thrill of the Ride Tour 2014, on September 13 at the Strasburg Rail Road. He will join the tour at select events throughout the year.
Day Out with Thomas: The Thrill of the Ride Tour 2014 is an event that provides children the opportunity to climb aboard and take a ride with Thomas, as well as participate in Thomas & Friends themed activities. The tour is in its 19th year and is making stops in more than 40 U.S. cities. 

USAopoly to Launch Monopoly: The Big Bang Theory

USAopoly, under license from Hasbro Inc. and in conjunction with Warner Bros. Television group, has created Monopoly: The Big Bang Theory. Fans of the CBS show can buy, sell, and trade their favorite show locations, such as Sheldon & Leonard’s apartment, Penny’s apartment, the physics department cafeteria, or Mrs. Wolowitz’s house.
Landing on a fortune cookie card will replace the traditional Chance cards, and players can get out of jail free if they appear at a benefit thrown by President Siebery. A Roommate Agreement Card will replace the traditional Community Chest card, and players could be penalized $100 for violating The Overnight Guest Notification Clause.
Monopoly: The Big Bang Theory game will launch this summer in specialty stores across North America. 

RJM Licensing to Represent Tegrin in Brand Re-Launch 

TegrinRetroBrands USA LLC has signed on RJM Licensing to represent Tegrin dandruff shampoo. The brand originally launched in the 1980s as a competitor to Head and Shoulders, and eventually went on to become the No. 2 bestseller in the U.S. for anti-dandruff shampoo.
Categories open for Tegrin include shampoo, body wash, soap, and lotion, with available territories in the U.S. and Canada. 

DST, Popcap to Launch Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 

Plants vs. ZombiesAs Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare comes to PlayStation 4 this month, Diamond Select Toys (DST) will launch a line of “bloom and doom” action figure two-packs at comic shops, specialty stores, and Toys “R” Us that will be available next month. Each set of two 5-inch scale action figures will include one plant and one zombie, both based on designs from the game.
In addition, two box sets of Minimates mini-figures will be available next month. Foot Soldier Zombie, Scientist Zombie, Chomper, Sunflower, and two Pea Shooters will be available at Toys “R” Us; and Engineer Zombie, All-Star Zombie, Cactus, Sunflower, and two Pea Shooters will be available at specialty stores. 


Simon Cowell and Animal Logic to Develop Betty Boop Film

Betty Boop, together with Animal Logic Entertainment and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment have announced their plan to develop and produce Betty Boop’s first feature-length film. 
Partnering with Fleischer Studios, Animal Logic and Syco Entertainment will produce a music-driven hybrid animated comedy featuring universally adored screen starlet Betty Boop. 
Betty Boop had her first hit screens in 1930 with numerous appearances in Max Fleischer’s Talkartoons and her own “Betty Boop” cartoon series. More recently, she has taken her career to new heights, starring in a Lancôme campaign and featuring in collaborations with Coca-Cola, NASCAR, UNIQLO and Chupa Chups. Betty also has countless other global commercial and mass merchandising deals through her exclusive worldwide licensing agency, King Features.
Betty’s last movie appearance was a cameo in the movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (1988).
The film, which will be produced by Zareh Nalbandian and Jason Lust from Animal Logic and Simon Cowell and Adam Milano from Syco, promises to be a strong addition to the Animal Logic and Syco Entertainment growing development slate with broad audience appeal.
Of the announcement, Betty Boop said: “I’m so excited to return to the big screen – and I only work with the best! Let’s have some fun, Simon. Boop-Oop-a-Doop!”
Simon Cowell said, “Betty is an icon, and one of the biggest stars in the world – I’m thrilled to be working with her. Betty, I’ve worked with some serious divas but I think you could be the biggest of them all!”
Zareh Nalbandian, Animal Logic’s CEO added, “I’m thrilled that Animal Logic is part of this exciting new collaboration with Betty.  She’s an amazing, iconic and loved character, and we’re going to have so much fun producing her 21st century big screen debut.”

Outfit7, MerchANT Partner for Customizable Talking Tom and Friends Line

Outfit7 has signed an apparel on-demand deal with MerchANT for Talking Tom and Friends. The Talking Tom and Friends MerchMAKER launches on August. 27 and will allow fans to create their own Talking Tom and Friends merchandise. Users in the UK and Ireland can choose from a range of apparel and accessories to customize with their favorite character images and quotes. 

Hello Kitty Collaborates with Barbour to Create Girls Wear Range

Hello KittySanrio announced a collaboration with heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour. The deal, brokered by Sanrio’s UK licensing agent Fluid World, will see the launch of a range of Hello Kitty girls' wear, including jackets, knitwear, hats, and socks.
The Barbour x Hello Kitty collection will be available in selected Barbour stores, on the Barbour website, and in department stores.

Penguin UK Acquires World Publishing Rights in New Skylanders Universe Mag

Penguin UK has acquired world representation rights in a new Skylanders Universe magazine, based on the Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures, Skylanders Giants and Skylanders SWAP Force videogames. In the first deal of its kind for the publisher, Penguin will work to secure and manage licensees for the magazine as it takes its first step into magazine publishing. Penguin, who also has the rights to the Skylanders Universe books, has secured Immediate Media to produce the global magazine content and distribute the magazine in the UK.
Initially, the new magazine will only be sold in the UK, although Penguin has already begun coordinating with key partners to make the magazine available worldwide. The first issue will launch in October 2014 with 13 issues published yearly.

Cartoon Network Collaborates with H&M for Adventure Time T-Shirt Range

Cartoon NetworkCartoon Network has partnered with international fashion retailer H&M to launch an exclusive t-shirt range inspired by its animated comedy series Adventure Time. 
The t-shirt collection features lead characters Finn and Jake and unique slogans characteristic of the comedy series. 
“Adventure Time has proven itself as a brand that resonates with fans of all ages throughout the world,” says Johanne Broadfield, Vice President of Cartoon Network Enterprises, Turner Broadcasting System, EMEA. “Through creative collaborations with global retailers like H&M, our fans have the opportunity to express their individual style through looks inspired by their favourite Cartoon Network shows and characters.”
Cartoon Network has also announced that Adventure Time has been greenlit for seventh season. 

Character World Raises Money for Children’s Charity 

A 17-strong team from leading licensing business Character World partook in When you Wish Upon a Star’s annual ‘Dragon Boat Race’ last weekend to raise £1415 for the children’s charity that grants once in a lifetime wishes to children with life threatening illnesses.
The event welcomed 25 teams from across the North West of England, all competing to raise money for the charity. The Cheadle-based business’ contribution takes it even closer to its £4,000 donation target for the year.
Character World is partaking in a number of events organised by different members of the team to raise money for the charity this year including a Manchester to Chester bike ride, long distance walks and a ‘tough mudder’ event. 
Character World is supporting a number of charities through its fundraising in 2014 including When You Wish Upon a Star, The Light Fund and Cancer Research UK.

Judging Panel Announced for License This! 2014

Brand Licensing Europe, the Advanstar organised licensing exhibition, has announced the judging panel for this year’s License This! challenge.  
Ian Downes, Director of Start Licensing, will chair the panel. He is joined by Paul Bufton, VP, Consumer Products Licensing and Retail EMEA, Rovio Entertainment Ltd; Richard Haines, Acquisitions & New Business Manager, Penguin Children's, Penguin Random House and John Carolan, Head of Buying – Childrenswear, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd. 

Now in its fifth year, License This! offers new creative concepts the chance to break into the global licensing industry. It is open to any new artwork, brand or character that has no merchandising deals already in place or pending.

The judges will select a shortlist of four entries which will be pitched to them in front of an audience at BLE on 9 October 2014. The winner will receive a fully‐furnished stand at Brand Licensing Europe 2015, worth £4,500, so that the new property can be brought back to market next year.

Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion Movie Available on Watch Disney XD Before Premiere

Star Wars RebelsAn animated one-hour movie, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, will be available first to verified users on and the WATCH Disney app beginning on Sept. 29.
