Brand Licensing Event in New York Announced for 2016

Emerald Expositions, producer of more than 65 tradeshows and events, including the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show and SURTEX, has announced the launch of Brand Licensing Select. The latest in Emerald Exposition’s licensing show portfolio, Brand Licensing Select will provide a forum for brand owners and licensors, agents, and retailers to learn about upcoming licensing programs, retail programs, and marketing initiatives in a private setting. Total Brand Licensing is pleased to announced it has entered into a media partnership with the show.
The inaugural event is slated for September 27 to 29, 2016 in New York City. New York is the largest market for brands, retailers, manufacturers, and the media, therefore serving as an ideal location for this event. Brands will be matched up in advance with retailers based on requests. All appointments will be scheduled by the Emerald Licensing team. In addition to direct appointments, Brand Licensing Select will allow for frequent and intimate relationship-building and networking opportunities between all brand and buyer participants.
“We have felt, for a while, the need to have a dedicated Brand Licensing event,” said Jeff Lotman, CEO, Global Icons. “There is no other event targeting the specific licensing space, and of course New York is a great place to host it. We will fully support the concept and launch.  This concept and business model, along with the deep reach that Emerald Expositions has in retail is a definite plus.”
This unique format will bring together an invited group of key retailers, licensors and brands together in a private setting, away from the traditional tradeshow format.
“This exclusive event provides a platform for brands in the licensing space to have a bigger voice in the market place, and a stage to speak to retailers looking to bring licensed product into their store mix,” said Liz Crawford, Emerald Expositions Vice President & Group Show Director, Licensing. “Key retailers are looking for a setting where they can have high level marketing conversations away from a crowded show floor.”
Brand Licensing Select will also feature a Media Preview event, with the goal to showcase the brands’ focus on products being launched to the consumer market, and to highlight brand successes at retail. For more information about how to participate contact Liz Crawford at 949-226-5746 or at or Nikki Puckett at 949-226-5750 or

British Museum Hails ‘Amazing Response’ to Call for Licensing Agent Services

The British Museum has declared itself ‘amazed and impressed’ at the quality and quantity of the response to its call for the provision of licensing agent services. The call came with the British Museum’s announcement of a global licensing campaign in June.
The licensing campaign for the British Museum will have a number of aims, among them to communicate the Museum and its values to a wide audience; to promote the Museum’s role as a centre that tells the story of cultural achievement throughout the world; to raise awareness of the British Museum as a museum of the world and for the world; and to offer an additional source of funding for the upkeep of an unique and internationally famous collection of cultural artefacts and to support the Museum’s national and international engagement work.
The licensing campaign will target a large number of product categories appealing to a wide range of demographics while also ensuring that the Museum’s values and integrity are maintained.
The agency partner will work alongside the team at the British Museum as well as design agency Skew, which will develop a style guide for the campaign, and public relations group kilogrammedia, which will handle licensing-related publicity.

Thunderbirds Seeing Success in Australia and New Zealand

As ITV Studios Global Entertainment continues to build upon the international reach of its new boys’ property Thunderbirds Are Go, the firm has shared details of the brand’s success so far in Australia and New Zealand.
Since its debut in April on Nine Network’s Go! channel in Australia, Thunderbirds Are Go has consistently drawn large audiences, with each episode attracting over 200,000 viewers. In New Zealand, following the outstanding ratings for the first 13 episodes, TVNZ began airing the show on Saturday mornings at 7.20am on TV2 from July 11th 2015.
The Thunderbirds Are Go licensing programme is off to a strong start with Planet Fun and HeadStart distributing Vivid Imagination’s master toy line across both territories this summer. Roadshow Entertainment’s DVDs have also seen strong sales in Australia and New Zealand. The launch in Australia was supported by TV campaign, Shopalites posters, online advertising and PR activity in kids’ magazines and on social media channels.
New partners added by licensing agents Merchantwise in Australia and Global Licensing in New Zealand will see the apparel, confectionery and stationery categories expand. From the fabric, that has taken me three years to collect before I could start, to the length of the stitches, each stage of the creation has been a labour of love – we have breathed new life into these amazing objects.”
