  Hasbro and Ubisoft Bring Iconic Gaming Brands to Consoles

Hasbro and Ubisoft have announced plans for Ubisoft to develop and publish next-generation console games based on some of Hasbro's most popular gaming brands, including Monopoly, Scrabble (in the U.S. and Canada only), Trivial Pursuit, Risk, Battleship, and Cranium. All of the games are trademarks of Hasbro and are used with permission.

  Masha and the Bear Most Popular YouTube Cartoon

Animaccord Animation Studios, producers and owners of Masha and the Bear, have announced that the episode "Recipe for Disaster" has reached 100,735,000 views on YouTube.

Furthermore, Masha and the Bear became the most popular video on Russian YouTube last year. The viral video "Gangnam Style," which was ranked No. 1 in the whole world, took the second position after the episode "Laundry Day." According to Google Analytics data, the episode has mostly been viewed by men ages 35 to 44.

To date, the licensing program has more than 100 licensees covering more than 50 product groups.

  Breaking Bad Merchandise Launched Online for Final Season

Sony Pictures Consumer Products, in conjunction with the final episodes of Sony Pictures Television's Breaking Bad, has launched the Breaking Bad online store (, the official online store for all things Breaking Bad. Featuring exclusive merchandise, the online store contains fan–favorite items inspired by the series, such as fashion T–shirts, custom jewelry, and Los Pollos Hermanos lunch bags.

Retailers supporting key licensed categories include Hot Topic, Best Buy, Walmart, JC Penney, and Goorin Bros. Merchandise from the site will also be featured in the companion series Talking Bad, which airs on AMC following each of the final eight episodes, as gifts for audience members and fans.

  BBC Worldwide UK Nominated for Three Licensing Awards

Three of BBC Worldwide UK's properties are finalists in two categories at this year's Licensing Awards. Kirstie Allsopp is nominated in the Best Celebrity Licensed Brand for her range of home and stationery products, while Doctor Who is in the Classic Licensed Property category, where the winning brand automatically enters the Classic Hall of Fame to join previous winners Mickey Mouse (2012) and Star Wars (2011).

  Properties Granted for Muhammad Ali Products

Muhammad Ali Enterprises LLC has signed new deals for the former boxer's brand. Danberry Mint has signed on for 9– to 12–inch cold cast hand-painted figurines. Benetton has signed on for short and long sleeve T–shirts, trousers, and fleece for the seasonal brand collection Playlife. Lucky Brands has signed on for men's, women's, and children's apparel and accessories. Olympic Museum will produce a replica of the Olympic bag with a quote from Ali and his signature. The Muhammad Ali Shaqdown/Onespear action game is also included and features a post–apocalyptic future where humans have almost been wiped out. Other manufactured products include boxing gloves, body protectors, training accessories, and technical apparel.

  Progressive Preschool Awards Unveil Line-Up of Award Sponsors

Organizers of the Progressive Preschool Awards, Max Publishing has unveiled the strong line–up of sponsors confirmed to date for its inaugural awards ceremony dedicated to the UK preschool industry, which will officially launch on November 11 at London's Dorchester Hotel.

Companies on board as award sponsors include Fisher-Price, Disney Baby, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Carte Blanche, H&A, Intertek, Luma Creative, Misirli, VMC Accessories, and VTech. Communications agency, Little License to PR, which is also handling publicity for the Awards, is sponsoring The Marketing Award.

Wendy Hill, UK Director of Customer Marketing and Brand Communication, Fisher-Price comments: "We are delighted to be supporting the Progressive Preschool Awards. It is a great new initiative that really celebrates the very best in the preschool market."

  Preston Kevin Lewis to Expand His Role for Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) has announced that Preston Kevin Lewis, managing director in Australia and New Zealand for WBCP, will expand his position to include oversight of the Indian market. Lewis will be responsible for building WBCP's interests in India and will oversee all sales, marketing, promotions, clip licensing, media, and retail partnerships related to merchandising and product licensing business for the market.

Expanding his role into India, Lewis will continue to build the business utilizing WBCP's brands, from animated fare like Looney Tunes, Scooby–Doo, and Tom and Jerry, to the DC Comics Super Heroes portfolio, as well as films including Man of Steel, Godzilla, and The Hobbit Trilogy, and TV properties such as The Big Bang Theory.

Lewis joined WBCP in 2006 as vice president of international licensing and created and implemented a series of strategic initiatives for the Australia and New Zealand businesses. Prior to joining WBCP, Lewis held a variety of positions within multi-national entertainment companies, including Disney Consumer Products, MTV Program Enterprises, and HBO Home Video.

  Slugterra Heads to Channel 5

Slugterra premiered on Channel 5 on August 3, in a deal struck by Channel 5 and producer Nerd Corps. Slugterra made its UK debut on Disney XD in March and 39 22–minute episodes have been produced to date, with more on the way.

Toy support comes from Jakks Pacific. The program kicks off with a line of blasters, dart packs, and collectible slug figures launched at Smyth's, Toys "R" Us, and The Entertainer, along with additions to the toy line this fall and winter. Smyth's is also an on–air sponsor for the series on Disney XD.

  Duncan Toys and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to Collaborate

Duncan Toys Co., a division of Flambeau Inc., and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts have entered into an agreement for retail kiosks operated by Duncan Toys at Downtown Disney locations at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. These kiosks will feature Duncan products, including yo–yos, juggling equipment, footbags, and spin tops. Duncan yo–yo professionals will also perform at special seasonal events, such as Haunted Halloween at Hong Kong Disneyland. The International Yo–Yo Championship Competition will also be hosted at the Walt Disney World Resort next year. In conjunction with the competition, Duncan is developing a regional event as well.

  HIT Entertainment Establishes Global Brand Team for Top Properties

As part of its expansion, HIT Entertainment has announced the appointment of three executives to spearhead global brand and marketing efforts for several of its brands. Robin Gay has been tapped as global brand director for Thomas & Friends, Will Speer has been appointed as global brand director for Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam, and Gina Briggs will lead brand and marketing efforts for Mike the Knight as senior global brand manager.

In their newly created positions, the global brand team will be responsible for the developing the worldwide strategies, growth plans, and positioning for their respective brands, and working with HIT and Fisher–Price regional teams and lines of business to execute the brand strategies. Gay and Speer will be based in the UK, while Briggs will work out of the New York City office, with all three reporting to Shari Donnenfeld, Vice President Global Brands, HIT Entertainment.

  FremantleMedia Promotes David Luner

FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) has promoted David Luner to executive vice president for brand partnerships and franchise management, effective immediately. In his role, Luner will oversee all of FMNA's ancillary businesses including digital, integrated marketing and brand partnerships, licensing, live events, and various elements of business development.

Throughout the last decade, Luner has held a number of positions within FremantleMedia, including his most recent role as executive vice president for digital and licensing for the former FremantleMedia Enterprises Group, where he spearheaded partnerships for franchises including American Idol, America's Got Talent, The X Factor, Price Is Right, Family Feud, and Let's Make A Deal.

On the digital front, Luner was instrumental in pioneering industry partnerships with Facebook and Twitter, synchronized second–screen branded content apps, and digital partnerships with YouTube, iTunes, Habbo, and Shazam. Luner also oversaw some of the company's global licensing deals, which included the American Idol Experience at Disney, the gaming and gambling businesses driven by FMNA's game show franchises, and the acquisition of the Canadian–based gaming company Ludia.

  Sega Signs Sonic Deal with London Cakes

Sega Europe has signed a licensing agreement with London Cakes, the online cake manufacturer, to create personalized Sonic the Hedgehog–themed party cakes.

The cakes are entirely customizable, in terms of size and personalized messages, with all cakes featuring a QR code on the packaging. When scanned with a smartphone, consumers will be able to view a Sonic video related to the chosen cake.

The new personalized party cakes complement the existing range from Gemma International of Sonic the Hedgehog party goods, which includes paper plates and cups, table covers, invitations, thank you cards, and loot bags available from retailers such as Wilkinson's and Hamley's.

  Big Tent Showcases Domo Apparel at MAGIC

Big Tent Entertainment will showcase its Domo Junior's apparel at the MAGIC Market Week with new designs. Partners for the line include Fifth Sun, Concept One, Rock Rebel, Bioworld, Worldwide Dynasty, Modify, Buckle Down, Good Works, and Bait. These partners will show their latest Domo-inspired gear at MAGIC, including a range of T–shirts, leggings, headwear, accessories, and more.

  Betty Boop Lends her Style to Fashion

Betty Boop is soon to make her debut in a new fashion line. The new Joyrich line, licensed by King Features Syndicate, will be part of the brand's fall and winter collection and launches this month at the following stores: Joyrich (LA), Knyew (Las Vegas), Entrpreneur (NYC), Patriciafield (NYC), Vfiles (NYC), Wish Atl (Atlanta), Moda 404 (Atlanta), and online at Nasty Gal and Dolls Kills.

"King Features prides itself on managing an extensive portfolio of classic and timeless characters that are endeared by consumers around the globe," says David Golzman, domestic licensing manager for King Features. "Like Joyrich, we are always looking for collaborations that creatively modernize these icons and this partnership allows both parties to provide consumers with a fun, chic line that will appeal to Betty Boop fans and fashionistas of every generation."

  Reed Pop Launches Online Store with Star Wars Merchandise

ReedPOP, organizer of pop culture conventions, including New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, and C2E2, has unveiled ReedPOP Supply Co.'s online store that sells ReedPOP convention exclusives and original licensed merchandise. The ReedPOP Supply Co. launched on July 26, simultaneously with this year's Star Wars Celebration Europe, and it exclusively stocks a selection of original, official Star Wars Celebration goods. New York Comic Con, C2E2, and other ReedPOP products will be added over the coming weeks.

The ReedPOP Supply Co. presently houses more than 20 Star Wars Celebration limited-edition items, which are all unique, online variants of exclusives offered at this year's Star Wars Celebration as well as at previous years' Star Wars conventions. Exclusives include the Hoth Blue Milk Brewing Co. Glass (from Celebration V), the ABCs of Star Wars Woven Blanket (from Celebration VI), and the world exclusive Star Wars Rebels Logo T–shirt, which was revealed at this year's Star Wars Celebration Europe.

  Nickelodeon Promotes Marianne James

Nickelodeon Viacom Consumer Products has promoted Marianne James to vice president of consumer products, UK & Ireland and European retail sales and marketing. Leading the UK and Ireland consumer products team, the new role will see James responsible for planning, developing, and implementing consumer products retail strategy as well as achieving the department's revenue targets. James will report to Consumer Products General Manager & Senior Vice President EMEA & Australia Mark Kingston and Nickelodeon UK Managing Director Tina McCann. James starts her new role effective immediately.

"Marianne is a real asset to Nickelodeon and Viacom; able to creatively take on the challenges of the industry and discern opportunities for business growth, said Mark Kingston. "Already an integral member of the team, I am looking forward to seeing how she, and our business, flourishes as she takes on this new set of responsibilities."

  AG Properties Expands Strawberry Shortcake Publishing Agreements

AG Properties is continuing its Strawberry Shortcake publishing program with a slate of international agreements. The multiple deals will ensure a full range of products in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In Asia, local agent Medialink brokered renewal deals with Bongkoch Publishing Co. Ltd. in Thailand and Erlangga Group in Indonesia for storybooks, coloring and activity books, and novelty books.

Mediacorp will continue production of Strawberry Shortcake magazines in Singapore and Malaysia. German licensee Panini Verlags GmbH will continue to manufacture several different formats of sticker albums and school books within Europe through local agent CPLG Germany. In Italy, RCS SpA has signed on as a new partner for picture storybooks, activity books, and novelty formats through CPLG Italy, and The Middle East will see the continued creation of coloring and activity books, storybooks, and puzzle books throughout Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank through agent Point of View.

  Golden Goose Appointed for Men's Health Brand

Brand licensing consultancy Golden Goose has been appointed by magazine brand Men's Health as the exclusive licensing agency for Europe. Men's Health is one of the world's largest men's magazines with 40 editions in 45 countries, including 16 European editions reaching a monthly readership of more than 8 million.

Rob Novick, Senior Vice President, International at Rodale Inc. the owner of Men's Health said: "Men's Health is an international publishing phenomenon and we are confident that, with their understanding of brands, very strategic approach and experience in fitness, nutrition and health, Golden Goose will quickly establish a significant licensing programme for the Men's Health brand across our strongest European markets."

Golden Goose Managing Director, Adam Bass, said: "Health and fitness are going to be even higher on the agenda in the next few years, and these Men's Health licensed products will provide fitness and health conscious men with the tools they need to look and feel better about themselves."

  The Asylum Sets Licensing Deal on Library of Classic and Upcoming Movies

The Asylum, a brand-oriented motion picture and TV studio, has appointed Knockout Licensing to represent and manage licensing efforts for The Asylum's growing library of movie properties.

The Asylum has seen a vast amount of success with movies including the recently popular Sharknado, the Mega Shark trilogy, Mega Piranha, 2-Headed Shark Attack, 3-Headed Shark Attack, Transmorphers, and 100 Million BC.

  Trinity Mirror signs Lisle International for Andy Capp

Lisle International Licensing has been chosen by Trinity Mirror plc to deliver the UK merchandising program for its iconic Daily Mirror cartoon strip character Andy Capp.

Andy Capp first appeared in the paper in 1957 and is one of the longest–running strips ever.

Speaking of Lisle International's appointment and partner opportunities, partner Francesca Lisle said: "Andy Capp is an institution and as well–known with the young adults of today as he is with the older generation who would have seen his cartoons in the 50s and 60s. "As an instantly recognisable character his unique humour will carry across many sectors of products such as posters, apparel, greetings and giftware and we see prospects for partners as being long term. With nearly 60 years under his belt, he represents a heritage property that also appeals to the modern day."

  Little League Baseball and Softball Expand Licensing Merchandise

Little League Baseball and Softball have teamed up with Atlanta–based Fermata Partners to manage its retail licensing program. Fermata Partners will assume management of Little League's existing base of retail licensees, and is charged with extending the stable of Little League licensed brands into additional retail product categories and distribution channels.

Little League's retail licensing program, first established in 1995, has extended the Little League name from lamps and furniture to picture frames and digital apps, and also administrates licensing of authorized in-game equipment and accessories such as baseballs, softballs, bats, and training aids.

Fermata Partners' representation of Little League's retail licensing became effective on January 1. The firm has been actively engaged with existing licensees to explore growth opportunities, while also working to identify category and channel opportunities for new licensees focused on Little League's 75th Anniversary.

  PGS Announces International Deals

PGS Entertainment has licensed A Squared Entertainment's innovative series Secret KidVenture Club to MediaCorp in Singapore, Workpoint Entertainment in Thailand, Globosat in Brazil, and ZOOM channel in Israel.

Created with businessman and philanthropist Warren Buffett, Secret KidVenture Club empowers kids by helping them understand the world they live in, teaching them about the impact their decisions have on their own lives.

"Broadcasters around the world are seeing the value in offering their young viewers a unique TV series that both entertains and teaches kids how to make key decisions about their lives and finances," said Guillaume Soutter. "There's nothing like this on television for kids and leave it to A Squared to create a star-studded show that appeals to pre-teens, and gets the stamp of approval from their parents."

  Warner Bros., Mattel Partner for Hot Wheels World's Best Driver

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has partnered with Mattel Inc. for the global distribution, sales, and trade marketing of the upcoming Hot Wheels World's Best Driver video game, set to launch on September 17 in North America for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC.

In Hot Wheels World's Best Driver, players join the ranks of Team Hot Wheels and compete in dozens of fast-paced, re-playable challenges highlighting the driving styles of the different teams. Featuring 24 Hot Wheels vehicles and set in four under–the–radar test facilities around the world, the game pushes players to their limits to see if they have what it takes to become Hot Wheels World's Best Driver.

Mattel will also bring the Hot Wheels brand to life with a real–life crew of stunt drivers taking stunt–driving to the next level with never–before–seen, gravity–defying stunts in life–size Hot Wheels cars. This year, Mattel continues to introduce new Hot Wheels content, including a 22–minute World's Best Driver movie on the Hot Wheels YouTube channel and

Hot Wheels: World's Best Driver is being developed by Firebrand Games.

  Character World Joint MD Wins Bronze in Jewish Olympics

Danny Schweiger is celebrating after winning a bronze medal in the 19th Maccabiah Games. The joint managing director of licensing business, Character World, competed in the men's football tournament last month. Team GB battled Brazil, Argentina, Israel, Mexico, America, and Chile to bring home bronze.

The Maccabiah World Games is held in Israel every four years and brings together more than 10,000 athletes from 57 countries. This is the 13th occasion Schweiger has represented his country.

He said: "It's fantastic to be given the opportunity to represent my country again and bring home another medal. Even though I've now been to six world games, six European games and a South American games, this one was special as it might be my last. After the inspiration from the London Olympics last year we battled hard and are delighted to have brought home a bronze medal."

  Exim Licensing Partners with Yuisy for Latin America

Exim Tech, the tech division of Exim Licensing Group, has announced a partnership with Yuisy, the Latin American videogame, app, digital content developer, and publisher, which is part of Grupo Clarin. Exim Tech and Yuisy will create online strategies that strengthen the licensing program currently handled by Exim Licensing.

Among the apps developed by this portal is Mundo Gaturro, a virtual space designed for kids ages 5 to 12. This interactive club is represented by Exim, and has more than 10 million users in Latin America and a line of products including back–to–school items, cups, promotions, T–shirts, backpacks, toys, and more.
