Epic Rights, Liquid Blue to Introduce Kiss and MLB Co-Branded Apparel

KISS BaseballEpic Rights has partnered with Major League Baseball (MLB) and apparel licensee Liquid Blue to create a KISS apparel line. The new collection of T-shirts, Play Ball with KISS, will combine the rock fashion sense of KISS with logos representing MLB teams New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Under the Play Ball with KISS collection, Liquid Blue will also launch a themed line, Dressed to Kill, and is preparing a second themed apparel line, Locker Plate. Both lines are inspired by the KISS song, “Detroit Rock City,” which will be introduced later this year. The new apparel line is available through online retailers, including the MLB and Liquid Blue websites, and is distributed through MLB team stores, stadium gift shops, and sports retailers. The line is coming soon to mass market and mid-tier department stores. 

Wildflower Group Adds Additional Licensees to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Rock and Roll Hall of FameThe Wildflower Group has expanded the licensing program for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum with three new licensees: Opus Label for men’s and women’s apparel, LND Neckwear for men’s and boy’s neckwear, and UMB CardPartner for co-branded credit cards.
The new merchandise in the line will bring consumers closer to music. The apparel line from Opus Label will include hangtags that allow customers to download songs by Hall of Fame inductees. The line features T-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, sweaters, shorts, and pants, and will be available this holiday season at high-end department and specialty stores. The LND Neckwear assortment will include ties, bowties, pocket squares, and a four-piece vest set. The collection will be available at mass market stores, online, and specialty retailers this spring. The co-branded UMB CardPartner Visa credit cards will be available in five designs.

The Hershey Co., Blue Rhino Partner for S’Mores Grilling Accessories

Blue Rhino has partnered with The Hershey Co. to create a distinctive line of Hershey’s S’Mores grilling accessories. The Hershey Co.’s representative for select licensing initiatives, The Licensing Co., brokered the agreement.  
The licensed grilling tools will include grilling baskets, marshmallow sticks, melting trays, and utensils. The accessories will be available early next year at mass and grocery retailers.  

Tudor Games Announces NFL Licensing Agreement

Tudor GamesTudor Games, makers of the original Electric Football game, announced a licensing agreement with the National Football League (NFL) to market a new collection of NFL Electric Football games and NFL Team Action Figure sets. 

Major enhancements for this year include Invisibase Speed and Strength Cleats that propel the 1-inch action figure players across the field with accuracy. The SpeedTurf playing field replaces the metal boards of the past with a fully detailed high-tech surface, powered by a handheld PlayAction remote control with variable speed.     

The new products will be available at major retailers this fall.

Bunnies By The Bay Launches Pretty Girl Clothing Line

Bunnies By The Bay, a division of Kids Preferred, has released a new clothing line called “Pretty Girl.” Each item of clothing has positive messages stitched inside: share, listen, be patient, and care. These phrases are intended to show girls what truly makes them the prettiest. 
The line of apparel will also include plush toys, blankets, and pillows. 

Celebrating a Ghoulish Doll Line with New Book

The newly launched Art of Living Dead Dolls book pays homage to the world-record-holding doll line. The book is a celebration of the original doll created 16 years ago. Eighty different artists have contributed to the more than 100 ghoulish images printed in the coffee table read. The book also includes a section of fan art tattoos, and highlights from the 2006 Living Dead Dolls Art Show.

Rubie’s Expands TMNT Costume Collection

RubiesRubie’s Costume Co. has launched officially licensed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumes, masks, and accessories. The line is under license from Nickelodeon and is inspired by the newly released film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, by Nickelodeon Movies and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The costume collection is a modern interpretation of the franchise and will include characters Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello available in child and adult sizes. The line is available now for Halloween 2014.

Uglydoll Line Goes Mobile

Ugly DollPretty Ugly has signed a new agreement with Viber and Universal Partnerships and Licensing to create an Uglydoll Sticker Pack for the application. The pack gives Uglydoll fans a new and fun way to express themselves through a mobile medium. 

JELC to Expand The Wisdom of Kids

The Wisdom of KidsJELC will expand and manage an international licensing program for greeting card publishers The Wisdom of Kids. In addition to greeting cards, JELC will target new categories such as gifts, stationery, apparel, electronics, home-wares, and textiles to establish the brand as a market leader.

iKids Awards Open for Entries

Kidscreen is once again gearing up to recognize and celebrate the market’s best digital media products and platforms for children with its third annual iKids Awards.
From today until the deadline of Friday, October 17, Kidscreen will be accepting entries online at in the following categories:

DHX Producing New Series Supernoobs

SupersnoobsDHX Media is in production on Supernoobs, a brand-new 2D animated kids’ comedy, commissioned by Teletoon Canada, and acquired by Cartoon Network US.
Aimed at the 6-11 demographic, the comedy is being produced out of DHX Media’s Vancouver studio. Supernoobs is created by Scott Fellows, who is also behind DHX Media’s hit animated series Johnny Test, created for the same target audience. 
DHX Media has television, licensing and merchandising rights globally, with the exception of initial Canadian and US broadcast rights which are held by Teletoon and Cartoon Network US, respectively.

New Care Bears Toy Line to Hit Shops

Care BearsA new partnership between AG Properties (AGP) and Just Play will bring an all-new Care Bears toy line to major retail outlets towards the end of 2014.
“The Care Bears and their messages of sharing and caring have connected with children worldwide since the 1980s. Our partnership with Just Play gives us the perfect opportunity to make that connection again with another generation of kids who already connect to the Care Bears entertainment, apps and more, and can now befriend this all-new line of huggable Care Bears toys,” said Sean Gorman, President of AG Properties.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with American Greetings and excited to bring the Care Bears back to life with all new plush and figures that capture the look and feel of the CG entertainment,” said Geoffrey Greenberg, Co-President of Just Play.


New Hires at FremantleMedia

Executive vice president and general manager of FremantleMedia Kids and Family Entertainment (FMKFE) Rick Glankler, has announced three new senior roles within his division. 
Henry Or has been appointed vice president of kids and family entertainment for Asia. He will have overall responsibility for the kids business in this region. 
Tracy Griffiths is now the vice president of licensing and consumer products for Australia, where she will work closely with Australia's FMKFE director of licensing to expand their existing agents. 
Nicola Herrmann has been appointed as global brand director, and will create and execute a global and local brand strategy for key properties in FMKFE's portfolio.
The new hires are a result of the company's complete restructure. 

National Gallery Company Ltd. Appoints JELC 

JELC has been appointed to represent the National Gallery Company Ltd. to expand and develop an international licensing program featuring the National Gallery’s collection of paintings. 

Wolfblood Signs Additional Licensees

WolfbloodGB eye and Titan are have joined a licensing program for Wolfblood, an award-winning CBBC show. The new deals will see GB eye producing a line of posters, prints, canvases, and and other merchandise. Titan is set to launch a Wolfblood magazine to tie in with the launch of season three of the show, due for broadcast this fall. The partners join existing licensees Danilo for greeting cards, Fashion UK for nightwear and underwear, Smith & Brooks for apparel, and VMC for accessories.

Mr Bloom’s Nursery Licensing Program Expands

Mr. BloomThe Conservation Volunteers has joined the licensing program for Mr Bloom’s Nursery. Under the new agreement, TCV will develop a line of Mr Bloom products, including “grow your own” kits, toddler tools, buckets, watering cans, bird boxes, and bug boxes. The line will be revealed at Glee 2014 in the UK in September.
Mr Bloom’s Nursery shows on CBeebies and combines live action with puppetry to introduce children to the experience of nurturing plants. The new deal adds to existing agreements with Little Babas for dress up, Portico for greetings and calendars, and Random House for publishing. 

Sherlock Holmes Inspires Museum of London Tweed

The Museum of London, in collaboration with Christy’s Hats and Lovat Mill, will create a unique Sherlock Holmes Tweed, when the detective is the star of his own exhibition this autumn.
Drawing inspiration from three different sources – the use of colours in Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories; Victorian tweed and hat fashions; and latest menswear trends, the tweed will go on sale to begin with on a series of hats.

Jumbo Games Expands Portfolio

Jumbo GamesJumbo Games has been extending its portfolio so far in 2014, introducing brand new licenses, and building on existing ones, within the pre-school sector.  The CBBC show Strange Hill High and the CBeebies show Q Pootle 5 join the expanding roster, and new products have been added to the established Disney, Peppa Pig, Frozen and Doc McStuffins ranges. 
Jumbo has renewed its agreement with eOne for a further 3 years and to commemorate Peppa’s 10th anniversary, Jumbo has launched the Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Floor Puzzle which pays tribute to the first ever episode – Muddy Puddles.
The EVA Giant Foam Floor Puzzles seesr licenses Disney’s Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Minnie Mouse, Planes, Doc McStuffins and Fisher-Price will be a sure hit for all pre-schoolers. The new license for the CBeebies pre-school hit Q Pootle 5 will include a range of games and puzzles.

Guests Announced for Malta Comic Con

Andrew WildmanWicked Comics has announced that Guillermo Ortego (X-Factor), Steve Scott (Batman), and independent creator Mickey Lam will be guests at Malta Comic Con (MCC) at the end of November. 
The distinguished guests will join Yishan Li (The Clique), Rufus Dayglo (Tank Girl), and Andrew Wildman (Transformers) at MCC - all of which have already been announced as attendees. 
Malta Comic Con will be held at St. James Cavalier, Valletta, on November 29 and 30.


M&M’S Celebrates Grand Opening

M&Ms WorldChocolate brand M&M'S has opened a new M&M'S World store in Shanghai. The grand opening of the 1,600-square-meter location creates 130 new jobs. 
The colorful store—which spans two floors—showcases the growth of the brand in China and throughout the rest of Asia. In addition to chocolate fun, the store offers a wide range of M&M'S merchandise, including apparel, kitchenware, and plush toys.
China-themed M&M'S products, such as mugs, tins and T-shirts, will be available for purchase exclusively at the Asia location. 
This flagship store joins the brands other locations in New York, Orlando, and Las Vegas.


Haven Launches Sesame Collection with the Australian Football League

Haven Licensing has launched a collaboration with the Australian Football League to produce a range of co-branded Sesame Street merchandise for 17 of the league's football clubs.
Supported by a major marketing campaign, the range will be available exclusively through AFL stores and online. From a sell-out launch range with the Melbourne Football Club, the partnership has expanded to 16 other clubs in the League, with apparel and accessories from Playcorp, for infants through to adults.
The launch campaign includes appearances by the Sesame Street walkarounds alongside AFL Hero Players at Kids Coaching Clinics, as well as the creation of video shorts featuring Melbourne FC Coach Paul Roos, including one which shows the sign-up of Big Bird as Melbourne’s newest recruit. The series of videos have been picked up by local media, gone viral across social media platforms, and played on the big-screen at major games.
“As advocates of healthy living and active outdoor play, it was an obvious choice to unite Sesame Street with one of Australia’s leading sporting codes,” said Tom Punch, Managing Director, Haven Licensing.  “We’re thrilled to be working with the AFL and Playcorp on a project that will appeal to children and parents alike.”
