DHX Media has partnered with AwesomenessTV on an original development production agreement with content to air on Family Channel in Canada. DHX will also distribute and handle merchandising and licensing outside the U.S. for original content produced under the deal.
In addition, DHX Media has also licensed three AwesomenessTV series: AwesomenessTV, a sketch comedy show airing on Nickelodeon in the U.S.; Make Me Over, a reality makeover series hosted by Bethany Mota and Ingrid Nilsen; and Cheerleaders, a docu-series diving into the competitive world of cheer.

Iconix Brand Group Announces Leadership Changes

Niel Cole, from Iconix Brand Group, is stepping down from his positions as CEO, chairman, and president as a member of the board of directors. He will serve as a special advisor to the company through September 30 to assist with the transition, and then intends to pursue other business opportunities. In the meantime, Iconix board member Peter Cuneo has been appointed chairman of the board and interim CEO.
Cuneo has served on Iconix’s board since October 2006 and previously served as president and CEO of Marvel Entertainment.

Toys “R” Us to Debut Toys Based on DreamWorks Animation’s Dinotrux

Beginning on October 1, Toys “R” Us stores nationwide and will carry play sets, vehicles, and more based on DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming Netflix original series, Dinotrux. The initial line, from Mattel, will feature Ty Rux, Revvit, and other Dinotrux characters, and select items will be available for pre-order online beginning August 14.
Dinotrux takes place on a prehistoric world of half-dinosaur, half-construction vehicle creatures. The initial line will include Dinotrux Mega Chompin Ty Rux, the Dinotrux Playset Assortment, the Dinotrux Construction vs. Destruction Mega Pack, the Dinotrux Diecast Character Assortment, Dinotrux Garby, Dinotrux Pull Back ’n Go, and Dinotrux Revvit.

FAB/Starpoint Signs on for Kong

41 Entertainment and Arad Animation have granted a license to FAB/Starpoint for backpacks, sports bags, duffels, luggage, handbags, coin purses and wallets, cosmetic bags, lunch bags and kits, ceramic banks with and without coin slots, mugs, coasters, storage trays, lanyards, and photo frames for the U.S. and Canada for their Kong property. Kong—King of the Apes debuts on Netflix worldwide in spring 2016.

Jim Henson Co.’s Dinosaur Train Now on Boomerang Latin America

The Jim Henson’s Co. has signed a licensing agreement with Boomerang Latin America for broadcast distribution of its children’s series Dinosaur Train. The series will launch on August 10.
The Jim Henson Co. has licensed Dinosaur Train in more than 200 territories across the globe with media partners such as France TV, Nickelodeon (UK), Disney Channel (Germany), NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland), Canal+ (Poland), Channel 1 (Russia), TG4 (Ireland), Canal Panda (Portugal), SRTVE (Spain), SVT (Sweden), Netflix (Canada, UK, Germany, Spanish-speaking Latin America), Videotron (French-speaking Canada) and TVO and TFO (Canada), Emirates Cable TV & Multimedia LLC (United Arab Emirates), Knowledge Network Corp. (Canada), and Multithematiques (France).
In Dinosaur Train, viewers join Buddy and his adoptive family of Pteranodons on whimsical adventures through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes, and oceans as they unearth basic concepts in natural science, natural history, and paleontology.

Mega Bloks Debuts New Building Sets Based on Halo 5: Guardians

In anticipation of Microsoft’s upcoming video game, Halo 5: Guardians, Mega Bloks has released four new sets modeled directly after the game. Recommended for kids ages 8 and up, the sets include the Mega Bloks Halo Covenant Commander, the Mega Bloks Halo UNSC Attack Gausshog, the Mega Bloks Halo Phaeton Gunship, and the Mega Bloks Halo Scorpion’s Sting. Each comes with poseable micro action figures and accessories. Halo 5: Guardians is scheduled for release on October 27.

NBA Partners with Under Armour

Under Armour and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have signed a multiyear global partnership that makes Under Armour the title partner of the NBA Draft Combine and presenting partner of the Jr. NBA, the league’s youth basketball program. Under Armour will also team with the league to launch an innovative NBA FIT mobile app powered by the brand’s Connected Fitness platform. This new marketing and merchandising agreement represents a significantly expanded partnership between the NBA and Under Armour, a league partner since 2011.
As the title partner, Under Armour will become the outfitter of the NBA Draft Combine beginning in 2018, in addition to developing a retail line of NBA Draft Combine apparel for fans. Under Armour will also activate around several key NBA events throughout the year, including NBA All-Star.

All-New Book Based on From Frank Debuts Nationwide

Based on the whimsical From Frank character brand, Don’t Fart When You Snuggle: Lessons on How to Make a Human Smile, by Frank the Dog, debuted on Tuesday from Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) and Chronicle Books. The book is available at retailers nationwide and online, as well as at independent bookstores and gift boutiques.
From Frank began as a line of witty greeting cards just a few years ago, and has grown to become a humor character brand with a tremendous range of new products, including wall calendars from Chronicle Books; journals, desk notes, and note cards from Quarto Publishing; lottery tickets from GTech; more than 40 items including stationery, mugs, dog bowls, wall plaques, and other room décor from Enesco; sticky notes from Galison/Mudpuppy; plush from License 2 Play; digital stickers from Bare Tree Media; and 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles from Calendar Club.

Kidz Bop Extends National Tour

The Kidz Bop Kids will embark on a national tour this holiday season. The holiday shows were scheduled following the success of the Kidz Bop Kids’ Make Some Noise tour’s spring and summer dates, and tickets will officially go on sale August 14.
Sponsored by Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Honey Girls and represented by CAA, the Make Some Noise Holiday Tour will stop in nine cities this December. Audience members will get a special preview of The Honey Girls’ debut music video at each show before the Kidz Bop Kids take the stage.
During their shows, the Kidz Bop Kids will perform holiday classics as well as favorites from the Kidz Bop series. Tour dates and ticket information are available at the official Kidz Bop homepage.

Brand Central Signs F is for Family

Gaumont International Television and Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Television have signed Brand Central LLC as their exclusive licensing agency for their upcoming Netflix animated sitcom F is for Family.
Based on the comedy of Bill Burr, F is for Family is a new, half-hour, animated series coming exclusively to all Netflix territories in winter 2015. The six-episode series will be produced by Gaumont International Television and Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Television and marks the first foray into animation by Gaumont’s U.S. production arm, tapping the expertise of Gaumont Animation in France.

Distribution Deals for Kabillion

Having announced its distribution last year of Wendy and looking to expand its business model, Nicolas Atlan, Kabillion president and Splash Entertainment co-CEO, announced that Kabillion has secured distribution deals with DISH Network LLC and Hulu for classic animated properties that originally aired in the U.S. on the Kabillion network. 
These new partnerships mark Kabillion’s first distribution agreements with DISH and Hulu making the new distributor’s content immediately available on both platforms. DISH subscribers of the Heartland Package and the DISH Movie Pack may now instantly watch Televisa’s El Chavo (Mexico) and Red Kite’s Wendy (UK) in their Video-On-Demand library on their set-top-box or on-the-go via DISH Anywhere. Additionally, Hulu launched Wendy to its streaming platform.

Original Japanese-language Version of Yu-Gi-Oh Available on Crunchyroll

4K Media is making the original Japanese-language version of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX available for the first time outside of Japan on Crunchyroll, a global destination and platform for Japanese anime.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX takes place several years after the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX follows a new generation of duelists at the prestigious Duel Academy.

Pampered Girls Brand Launches Handbags at WWDMAGIC

The Return of Bob the Builder

Available to view for the first time, fans of Bob the Builder can now take a first look at the content from the brand new series featuring an all-new look and celebrity voice cast.
HIT Entertainment Limited has confirmed its all-new look Bob the Builder series will launch exclusively on Channel 5’s Milkshake from 1st September 2015 at 7.20am.
As well as the new look, the voice cast has also been renewed in the show’s latest development with Lee Engelby (Harry Potter) taking on the voice of Bob, Joanne Froggatt (Downtown Abbey) the voice of Wendy, Blake Harrison (Inbetweeners) the voice of Scoop and Jacob Scipio (CBeebies) the voice of new character Leo.

Sony and Brand & Deliver Team for Pixels: The Movie

Sony Pictures and Brand & Deliver create film partnership campaign to support summer release of Pixels: The Movie
Brand & Deliver has created a comprehensive brand partnership campaign to promote the UK release of summer blockbuster Pixels: The Movie on 12th August, for client Sony Pictures.
The campaign brings together five complementary partners: Sony Mobile and the UK’s number one network O2, leading family restaurant chain Little Chef, energy drink brand Kick Energy, SFC Southern Fried Chicken and anti-virus software brand Kaspersky. Together they will engage a wide consumer base of families; teenagers and males age 16-26 across digital and social platforms with opportunities to win a trip to New York and Sony tech bundles, alongside on-pack, dining and retail promotions.

Rainbow Delivers DVD Deal For Regal Academy

Rainbow has announced a home entertainment deal for new animated comedy Regal Academy.
The deal with Justbridge Entertainment covers G.A.S territories. The company has introduced major kids brands such as Winx Club, Fireman Sam, Little Princess and more into the German-speaking DVD market.
The new agreement follows an existing deal with Italian publisher Fabbri Editori, which will see a range of Regal Academy titles, including storybooks and activity and novelty formats, hit the market through bookstores and mass-market outlets.
“This deal adds to the growing licensing programme for Regal Academy,” says Cristiana Buzzelli, VP, Contents – Digital and Publishing at Rainbow. “The fact that partners are signing up before the show has even broadcast shows the huge potential of this unique property. We are expecting to sign many more agreements across numerous categories.”

Spin Master Joins FunFest Blogger Summit Line-Up

Spin Master is the latest company to join the line-up of toy and children’s entertainment exhibitors at the upcoming FunFest Blogger Summit.
The toy firm will boast two areas at the event, which takes place on Saturday September 12th at Whittlebury Hall, Northampton.
In the STEM area of the exhibition, Spin Master will demonstrate the hotly-tipped ‘make-your-own-robot’ Meccanoid range. An extension of the popular Meccano brand, this four-foot programmable robot was launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year, to much acclaim.
Meanwhile, in the Interactive Play Zone, Spin Master will demonstrate the latest in its Chubby Puppies and Kinetic Sand lines.
The FunFest Blogger Summit is a one-day event for parenting and lifestyle bloggers. It takes place on Saturday September 12 at WhittleBury Hall, Northampton and will boast conference sessions and the opportunity for bloggers to discuss brand ambassador opportunities with a number of exhibiting companies.

Cartamundi Launches The Good Dinosaur Game Gift Box

Cartamundi has announced the launch of a three-in-one gift box of card games inspired by The Good Dinosaur, Disney•Pixar’s journey into the world of dinosaurs.
Available to pre-order now and arriving at toyshops, gift shops and supermarkets in October, The Good Dinosaur gift box retails at £7.99. Aimed at a core market of children aged four and up, it will contain a Happy Families game, a pairs game and a puzzle, all illustrated with images from the adventures of Arlo the Apatosaurus and his unlikely friendship with a little cave boy named Spot.
"The Good Dinosaur" asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct.
Produced by Pixar Animation Studios, the film will be released globally by Walt Disney Pictures in late November.

Nick App Available in Portugal

Nickelodeon has launched its Emmy Award-winning, free Nick App in Portugal.
The app - available to fans locally through Apple Store and Google Play - provides an immersive, branded experience that allows kids to interact with Nickelodeon in unprecedented ways.
Available for Android and iOS, the Nick App features a moveable tile layout that can be swiped in any direction, promoting discovery and exploration and offering kids instant and on-demand access to more than 1,000 pieces of Nickelodeon-themed content.
Fans across Portugal can now enjoy short-form videos of original skits, sketch and comedic bits; behind-the-scenes clips and photos from Nick stars and animated characters; as well as kid polls and newly created games.
Through an authentication process, NOS clients will have additional access to full episodes.
Since launching on iOS in the US in 2013, the app has amassed more than 17 million downloads to date, rolling out internationally across the UK and Latin America.

Mantis World to Launch WWF Apparel

Mantis World will unveil a new range of ethically-produced apparel under license from WWF.
For the range, a collection inspired by the natural world will be available for babies, kids and adults.

LMCA Again Expands Shanghai Office Staff

In support of its international growth, LMCA has appointed Elliot Chen as director of licensing, located in the company’s Shanghai office.  Chen reports to George Williams, managing director, LMCA Asia.  The position is effective immediately
Williams said: “We are excited to have someone of Elliot’s stature and experience join the Firm.  His addition, as director of licensing, affirms LMCA’s commitment to ensure that our current and new clients continue to receive the very best and most timely professional licensing services.”  Allan Feldman, LMCA CEO added, “Elliott’s wide ranging capabilities … as deal maker, a merchant and a truly global business executive … will make him a strong addition to the team.”
Prior to joining LMCA, Chen was with Suning, China’s largest appliance and consumer electronics chain.  There, he held a number of key positions focused on product development, management, sourcing and retail business development.  Prior to Suning, he lived and worked in Japan, Tokyo, in the trading industry and focused on electronic products sourced from China.
Chen is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese and English.

Maya the Bee: Movie Premieres in Colombia

Studio 100 International has announced that Maya the Bee: Movie is making its premiere in cinemas throughout Colombia on 13th August. 
The movie, co–produced by Flying Bark Productions and Studio 100 Media, is set to be shown on over seventy screens in Colombia’s largest and most frequented cinema groups, Cinemark and Cine Colombia.
The movie release has been heavily promoted with trailers showing since January before the showing of popular children’s movies including Penguins of Madagascar and Minions. Posters and standees have also been located in prime positions throughout the cinemas. Regular television advertisement on Disney Channel, TNT and Cartoon Network social media pages, and crucially Facebook, has also been an important tool in building awareness of the movie release reaching over one million people. In addition, recent competitions where parents post pictures on Facebook have proved extremely popular.
