Tom Brady Reclaims No. 1 Spot on NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales List

Tom Brady tops the list of pro football player retail sales in the first quarter of the 2017-2018 season. The list is based on total sales of all officially licensed NFL player merchandise, tracking year-to-date pre-season results from March 1 through May 31. Brady last held the No. 1 spot six months ago.

Brady has been a consistent presence at the top of the sales list over the last 13 quarters. He has been No. 1 four times, and inside the top three spots on nine different occasions. 

Brady is joined by Dallas Cowboys’ running back Ezekiel Elliott (No. 2) and quarterback Dak Prescott (No. 3). In May, Elliott and Prescott occupied the top two spots on the year-end 2016-17 Top 50 Player Sales List, marking the first time rookies finished a season at the top of the list. Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch finished in the No. 4 spot, and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson rounded out the top five.

The Top 50 Player Sales List is released quarterly by the NFLPA, via its licensing and marketing arm NFL Players Inc. and is based on overall sales of all NFL player licensed products via online and traditional retail outlets as reported by more than 70 NFLPA licensees. Licensed product categories include men’s, women’s, and youth game jerseys; T-shirts; wall decals; figurines; vinyl collectibles; bobble heads; plush dolls; drinkware; socks; holiday ornaments; novelties; and more.

BBC Worldwide Inks Licensing Deals for Amazon Prime Video

BBC Worldwide has announced a multi-year licensing deal with SVOD service Amazon Prime Video, giving its subscribers in the UK and Ireland access to a raft of children’s TV series from CBeebies and CBBC. The deal marks BBC Worldwide’s first Children’s package on Amazon Prime Video in the territory.
Content covered by the non-exclusive agreement includes popular CBeebies series Hey Duggee, Go Jetters, Sarah & Duck, Charlie & Lola and Gigglebiz, as well as hit CBBC shows like The Story Of Tracy Beaker and Horrible Histories. 
Jonathan Newman, Sales & Business Development Director at BBC Worldwide said: “The deal reflects the growing investment that leading streaming services like Amazon Prime Video are making to offer world-class, high quality children’s programming to their subscribers.”

Spin Master, Feld Entertainment Partner for Monster Jam

Spin Master Corp. entered a licensing partnership with Feld Entertainment as the new worldwide master toy partner for Monster Jam. The 10-year partnership begins in 2019.

The Monster Jam franchise includes a wide range of toys and products featuring intellectual property such as Grave Digger, Max-D, Megalodon, Monster Mutt, and El Toro Loco. Monster Jam produces more than 400 events each year across five continents. Its broadcasts of live events reach millions on the FOX Sports family of networks in addition to its digital reach.

Moose Toys Releases Grossery Gang Movie

Moose Toys‘ Grossery Gang released its first film, Putrid Power: The Grossery Gang vs. The Clean Team. The film premiered with a green carpet event Saturday in Los Angeles before releasing later that day on YouTube.

Moose Toys released more than 450 Grossery Gang characters since the launch last year, including Garbage Mouth, Dirty Danish, and Slop Bucket.

In Putrid Power, fans watch the story of The Grossery Gang taking on the new evil force known as the Clean Team. With Cheap Town now under the threat of being cleaned up for good by the evil Vac Attack and his team of clean freaks, Putrid Pizza, Dodgey Donut, and the rest of the gang must band together to fight the power of clean.

Over the past year, The Grossery Gang’s YouTube channel has accumulated close to 50,000 subscribers and 30 million views. Action images and ready-to-print home premiere packs are now available on The Grossery Gang website, with a number of Series 3 Putrid Power Action Figures hitting the shelves this week.

Condé Nast, Geneva Watch Group Partner for Glamour Editor’s Pick Watch and Jewelry Collection

Condé Nast and Geneva Watch Group partnered for a new multi-year licensing agreement to create a watch and jewelry collection for the Glamour brand under the name Glamour Editor’s Pick. The new line will preview at the spring and summer 2018 Accessories Market in August and will be available to purchase at department stores, specialty retailers, and online next year. 
The Glamour Editor’s Pick watch and jewelry collection follows a recent licensing partnership with L’Amy America to market and distribute sunglasses and ophthalmic frames under the Glamour Editor’s Pick brand.

Celebrating Heroes with Roald Dahl Day

Roald Dahl Day is the annual, global celebration of the storyteller, his beloved stories and unforgettable characters. Roald Dahl Day happens on and around September 13th, the author’s birthday.
This year, the celebration theme is the iconic child heroes of Roald Dahl’s stories – including Matilda, James, Charlie, Danny, Sophie and George. Roald Dahl was always a champion for children in a world ruled by adults. The young heroes of his stories are distinct individuals.
September 2017 brings a new Roald Dahl hero to the fore. Billy is the hero of Billy and the Minpins, Dahl’s very last book. Some 40 years after his first collaboration with Roald Dahl, Quentin Blake now completes their unique creative partnership with Billy and the Minpins, published by Penguin Random House on September 7th.
September will also see a currently top-secret new book – created by publisher Wonderbly in partnership with the Roald Dahl Literary Estate – which will take readers (child and adult) into one of Roald Dahl’s best-loved stories in a fresh and interactive way.
Roald Dahl’s young heroes are springing from the pages of the stories and travelling to locations around the UK, thanks to a unique collaboration with LEGO. Child-sized LEGO builds of six iconic Roald Dahl heroes will appear at locations including London, Cardiff, Manchester, Nottingham, the Eden Project in Cornwall and the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.
There will be plenty more of licensing activities to celebrate the day happening across the world. Roald Dahl Day is the biggest author-led cultural moment globally - and is growing annually. In a poll commissioned by Canon in May 2017, Roald Dahl was voted the Greatest Storyteller of All Time.

Steve Madden and GQ in Partnership

Steve Madden and GQ announced that they have released a men’s footwear and accessory collection as part of a new licensing partnership. The collaboration features a total of seven shoe styles, five bags, as well as cellphone and sunglasses cases. 
Steve Madden, along with GQ creative director, Jim Moore, sought to create a capsule collection to redefine a men’s accessory closet. Together the team handpicked materials, stitching, and finishes to create the ultimate men’s shoe and bag collection. The full collection is available for pre-sale on August 1st, and will be sold in select Steve Madden retail stores and other specialty retailers on August 16th.
“It seems it has always been much more interesting to buy women’s shoes than men’s, and I’m looking to change that,” says Steve Madden. “I want to be able to give guys the same options that we have always been able to give women. This collaboration with GQ does just that.”

Dragon Ball Super to Begin Airing in Latin America on Cartoon Network

Toei Animation Inc’s Dragon Ball Super is confirmed to make its long-awaited Latin American debut on Cartoon Network Latin America. Rolling out across the region with a four-episode marathon, Dragon Ball Super will premiere on August 5.
Following the debut marathon, Dragon Ball Super will begin airing regularly on August 7.
Nearly 20 years after the final adventure of Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super picks up where the iconic series left off. After launching in Japan, Europe and the U.S., Dragon Ball Super continues the legend with an original story overseen by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Making the Latin American debut extra special is the reunion of the original Dragon Ball Z Spanish and Portuguese voice cast who return to reprise their classic roles.
From reigniting the fandom of original viewers, to attracting a new legion of fans, Dragon Ball Super partners with Cartoon Network Latin America at a time when Dragon Ball excitement has reached fever pitch. Gearing up for the premiere, over a million fans took part this Monday on Cartoon Network Latin America’s first Dragon Ball Super Facebook Live event in Spanish and Portuguese and were treated to the official trailer of the series.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Creates strategic direction for active licensee base and negotiates new partnerships within assigned categories to achieve growth objectives.   Directs tactical execution of licensed product lines from concept/line plan through commercialization.  


  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments

    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions

  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies

I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
