GBI Enters Multiple Partnerships for SpacePOP Across the U.S.

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) enters multiple partnerships for music-driven tween brand SpacePOP with Six Flags, Dippin’ Dots, and Camplified amongst others.
The partnership with Six Flags will feature SpacePOP programming across Six Flags Media Networks reaching family guests this summer at participating theme parks locations. The original content includes music videos for guests waiting in ride lines as well as music on the Six Flags radio network played throughout the parks.
GBI’s partnership with Dippin' Dots will include a sweepstakes with a grand prize, e-commerce gifts, and SpacePOP-branded merchandise giveaways at all locations. Five bestselling Dippin' Dots flavors will be named after the princesses in SpacePOP.
Camplified will create an interactive, multifaceted SpacePOP experience, geared to tween girls, at 50 camp locations across the U.S.
Two new SpacePOP videos will be released each week on YouTube, as well as across Toon Goggles, PopJam, Batterypop, and the Kid Genius channel on Comcast’s Xfinity on Demand platform. Music will also be available on iTunes and Spotify.

Disney Unveils More Than 400 Themed Emojis

Disney has unveiled over 400 themed emojis inspired by its movies and animations from across the decades, including Alice in Wonderland, The Little Mermaid, as well as many of its collaborative ventures with Pixar.
Disney Games released a trailer on YouTube this week which show users how to collect the emojis by first watching Disney Emoji Blitz.

Turner Signs Content Deal with Nine and Launches Adult Swim Branded Block on 9Go

Adult Swim, Turner’s brand of young-adult comedy, has entered a syndication agreement with Nine in Australia.
Nine’s 9GO! channel will host a weekly one-hour, Adult Swim-branded block of programs every Sunday evening, starting July 10. The Adult Swim block will feature series such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Robot Chicken, Squidbillies and The Venture Bros.
Nine has also picked up the local format rights to Adult Swim’s FishCentre, which will introduce the block each week. The deal marks a free-to-air debut for many of these shows, including Rick and Morty, an animation series debuting on the channel later this year.
Audiences can download the app or go to to find the best of Adult Swim content in one place. Adult Swim can also be seen on The Comedy Channel on Foxtel and Netflix, which carries Rick and Morty.

Finding Dory Swims into Character World

Character World has unveiled a new range of Finding Dory textiles.
The sequel to Finding Nemo broke Pixar records when it opened in the US in June. It’s on track to continue this success when it’s released in the UK on 29 July.
The Manchester-based international textiles business has partnered with Disney to design and produce a full Finding Dory range, including duvet set, cushion, poncho and towel. The range will be available throughout the UK, Nordics and Benelux countries.
Finding Dory is the latest addition to Character World’s pre-school license portfolio which also includes Paw Patrol, Teletubbies and Peppa Pig.

Yogi Berra Estate Appoints Beanstalk as Global Representative

The Estate of Yogi Berra and Steiner Sports have signed an exclusive representation agreement with Beanstalk for advertising, media campaigns, and long-term brand associations.

Yogi Berra is an iconic sports figure. He has played Major League Baseball for 19 seasons and managed teams such as the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Houston Astros. Berra was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.

Beanstalk will represent the personality rights of the athletic icon for use in advertising, media, and long-term brand associations.

Four More Deals for Yo-Kai Watch

Bulldog Licensing has announced a clutch of new deals for Yo-Kai Watch.
Four new licensees have signed up for the programme. These are Character World (bedding), GB Eye (posters and related merch), Amscan (balloons and party decorations) and MV Sports and Leisure (wheeled toys). This adds to existing partners Danilo (greeting cards, calendars and gift tags, wrap and bags), Spearmark (lunch bags, bottles and lighting), Blueprint (stationery and bags), Cooneen (nightwear and underwear), Fashion UK (daywear), Kinnerton (confectionery), Centrum Books (publishing), Egmont (magazine publishing), Panini (sticker collection) Hasbro (master toy) and Nintendo (video games).

De La Soul Partners with Rovio for Angry Birds Action! Game Update

Hip Hop innovators De La Soul have teamed with the creators of Angry Birds for an update to the Angry Birds Action! game released by Rovio this April.
The Big Pig Update will allow players to listen to the new De La Soul track “Action,” composed by the group for the game. It will also bring a one-week event hosted by De La Soul in their bird form, granting players unlimited energy as a special power.
The update also adds 90 new levels and unlocks Piggy Island for players. Previously, the Piggy Island area in the game could only be unlocked by going to see The Angry Birds Movie in theaters.
De La Soul’s “Action” comes ahead of the August 26 release of And the Anonymous Nobody, the group’s first full-length album in 11 years.

YooHoo & Friends Licensing Summit Showcases “Extraordinary Potential”

Mondo TV and Aurora have hailed the success of the YooHoo & Friends Licensing Summit, held at the recent Las Vegas Licensing Expo. The Summit showcased the forthcoming Mondo TV children’s programme based on the multi-million-selling Aurora plush line.
Mondo TV recently held the event at Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
The event, attended by a large number of figures from licensing and broadcasting as well as the media, gave an update on the current status of the new series, shared the launch strategy for the property, and discussed plans for an international consumer licensing programme that is expected to have a strong appeal across global markets — especially given the enormous popularity of the brand on which the TV series is based.
As attendees heard, the YooHoo & Friends line of plush toys has sold more than 80 million pieces since Aurora launched it in 2007. The 52x11’-episode animated children’s series, made in 3D CGI and HD is therefore expected to enjoy strong awareness and audience appeal straight from launch. Many key broadcasters — both free-to-air and pay TV — have already confirmed their interest in this series, whose first episodes will reach screens in spring 2017.

Global Promotional Partnerships Announced for The Secret Life of Pets

Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures announced their cross-promotional campaign for The Secret Life of Pets with brands such as McDonald’s, Chrysler brand, General Mills, P&G, Mott’s, PetSmart, The J.M. Smucker Company, GoPro, and amongst others.
Delivering close to $400 million in promotional value, the creative-driven programs will be supported by multimedia marketing campaigns powered by TV, digital, and print advertising, retail exposure, social and influencer campaigns, and live events.
The campaign includes Spin Master and exclusive pet product retail partner, PetSmart, along with a roster of licensees reaching categories including interactive, video games, children’s books, apparel and accessories, consumer electronics, housewares, and stationery.

Scholastic and American Girl Seal Global Publishing Deal

Scholastic and American Girl entered a multi-year licensing agreement to launch an extensive publishing program based on the American Girl brand.
Under the agreement, Scholastic will publish print and digital books, and distribute simultaneously in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. This is the first time American Girl has licensed rights to publish books based on its characters.
The books include publishing for the Girl of the Year line, including each character’s novels, and new formats for current and previously released Girl of the Year characters.
American Girl and Scholastic will also release a non-fiction chapter book series inspired by the BeForever line, a new original series in middle grade, chapter book, and reader categories, novelty formats such as treasury books and guided journals, and American Girl-branded yearbooks featuring activities and quizzes.

Beanstalk Signs Humphrey Bogart for a Global Licensing Partnership

The Estate of Humphrey Bogart signed a representation agreement with Beanstalk. Bogart will be the inaugural client of the agency’s newest service, Icon Representation, which represents the personality rights of legendary icons for use in advertising and promotions.
Bogart is known for his work in films such as The African Queen, The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, Key Largo, Sabrina, and The Caine Mutiny amongst others. 
The partnership between Beanstalk and the Humphrey Bogart Estate aims to extend Bogart's personality rights into strategic categories and develop long-term brand associations.

Stage Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Launch Ice Age on Ice Tour Starting December 7

Stage Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products are set to launch the Ice Age on Ice Tour in 24 U.S. cities, including Detroit, San Jose, and Chicago beginning December 7 in Springfield, MA.
The Ice Age crew will have Sid, Scrat, Manny, Ellie, and Diego onboard and will visit 20 Canadian cities through December 4. Tickets for these are available now. The U.S. leg will extend performances through June, next year.

AALMG Enters Comprehensive Representation Agreement with Hussong’s Cantina

All-American Licensing (AALMG) signed a comprehensive representation agreement with Hussong’s Cantina, the watering hole from Ensenada, Mexico with restaurants in Las Vegas, Boca Park, and Reno, and Nevada to develop its brand through a worldwide licensing program. 
The multi-year agreement will allow AALMG to exclusively market and license the Hussong’s Cantina brand in various categories, including beverages, prepared and frozen foods, sauces, snacks, apparel, and more.
The legend of Hussong’s Cantina was cemented into history as the place where the margarita was invented back in October 1941.

I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
