  SMC Launches The Jungle Book Toys at Retailers Worldwide

SMC Entertainment Group Inc. and partner Sun-Mate Corp., the global toy manufacturer for The Jungle Book, along with DQ Entertainment International, have launched The Jungle Book toy line at retailers worldwide. The toy line includes action figures, play sets, walkie talkies, outdoor adventure, electronic toys, and summer toys.

Sun–Mate has secured international distribution agreements with partners, including Hunter Leisure, Target, and Toy World in Australia; Flash Toys in Latin America; Haka in New Zealand; Prima Toys in South Africa; MC Entertainment in the Benelux; Scanditoys in Scandinavia; and Hububa Clip in Israel. In addition, the toys are available at Toys "R" Us stores in the Middle East, Israel, and South Africa.

The Jungle Book toys will be available in the U.S. at,,,,,,,,, and, among others.

  Mister Maker Sees Success in Latin America

Zodiak Kids struck a renewal deal with Discovery Networks Latin America for Mister Maker. The agreement sees the region's leading Pay–TV provider acquiring the first two series of Mister Maker Comes to Town (51 X 20') as well as renewing their agreement with Zodiak for the first three series of Mister Maker (60 X 20') for Discovery Kids.

Zodiak Kids recently announced that a new 26 X 19 minute series, Mister Maker around The World, is in production with The Foundation. As part of the filming for the new series, Mister Maker visited Rio de Janiero in June and met children to learn about art in Latin America and made new projects with them inspired by their local culture.

  Old Navy Partners with Disney Products for Mickey Mouse Apparel

Old Navy has partnered with Disney Consumer Products to launch a new clothing line featuring Mickey Mouse. Available in-store and online, the Mickey Through the Decades collection includes Mickey Mouse and his friends in rarely seen art on vintage–style T–shirts for the whole family. The classic artwork explores how Mickey and other Disney characters have evolved over the decades.

  Studio 100 Licenses Film Maya The Bee to CIS

Studio 100 Film has licensed its first film project Maya The Bee—Movie to Russian entertainment company Premium Film. The announcement was made today by Patrick Elmendorff, Managing Director of Studio 100 Media.

Produced in 3–D stereoscopic Maya The Bee—Movie is an Australian–German co–production between Studio 100 Media and Buzz Studios. The agreement includes TV, home video and new media rights within the CIS territories. Premium Film has plans for an extensive theatrical release (more than 600 prints) after its premiere onto German cinemas in September 2014.

Patrick Elmendorff, Managing Director of Studio 100 Media commented: "Maya The Bee—Movie features a brand new storyline with well–known and much loved characters as well as new ones who will join Maya on her great adventure. We are delighted to partner with Premium Film for our first theatrical project and with the positive response received so far we look forward to giving audiences around the world an opportunity to enjoy this charming film."

Studio 100 Film has already sold the rights to Universum Film for the German speaking territories, with Monolith Films and Karantanija Cinemas on board to handle the distribution in Poland and Ex–Yugoslavia respectively.

  The Miss Universe Organization Extends into New Fashion Category

Parham Santana has signed a licensing agreement for its client the Miss Universe Organization, which will extend the brand into a new fashion category. Lingerie designer BeyondWear has signed on to create a line of undergarments, lingerie, sleepwear, and shapewear for specialty and department stores, bearing the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA brands.

  Ed Byrne to Host Licensing Awards

The stand–up comedian, actor, and presenter Ed Byrne has been confirmed as the host of The Licensing Awards. The Awards will take place on September 10 at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London, and honour the best–in–class of licensing across many categories.

Ed Byrne has seen three UK tours as well as performances in Australia and New Zealand, and is a well–known comedian on the comedy set including Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo.

  Rainbow Signs Global Deals for Winx Club

Rainbow plans to debut the sixth season of Winx Club next year, along with new licensing initiatives for the Winx Club brand. The new 26-episode series is a co–production with Nickelodeon and mixes 2–D and 3–D animation. In addition to the series, a new Winx Club movie is set for launch next year, as well as a global expansion of the brand.

Key licensing initiatives that will drive growth of the brand include a strong country–by–country marketing plan, focusing on retail activities and consumer events and supported by a fast–growing network of national agents. A digital strategy for the brand includes the launch of Android and iOS–based Winx Club apps as well as the international launch of the first Winx multiplayer game. Winx Club will also extend its reach as a fashion brand, while celebrations for the Winx Club 10th anniversary will take place throughout next year.

  Biplano and King Features on Wheels

Biplano has reached an agreement with NZI to develop motorcycle helmets with different King Features licenses such as Popeye, Olive Oyl and Betty Boop.

Biplano is developing a wide licensing program, to create a collection of urban helmets featuring the characters. NZI presents its collections on on 3D Vintage II, 3D Helix IV and 3D Activity models.

  Abbey Home Media Granted Exclusive Home Entertainment Rights for The Hive

Space Enterprises, licensing agent for the children's animated TV series The Hive, has brokered a deal on behalf of Hive Enterprises Ltd., granting Abbey Home Media exclusive home entertainment rights to the program in the UK and Eire.

Abbey Home Media joins a host of other partners for the brand, including master toy partner Mookie Toys, EMI Publishing, Blues Clothing, Jupiter Toys, Ravensburger, Kurio, LeapFrog, and Aykroyds TDP. A full range of licensed products will also be released throughout the year in Australia, including play sets, plush, and a master toy line backed by full TV support.

  Fox International Channels Latin America Joins Forces with Fox Consumer Products

Fox International Channels Latin America has been selected by Fox Consumer Products as sales representative of Promotional Licensing throughout Latin America.

It will be responsible for global licensing and merchandising, to offer Promotional Rights for some of the most successful TV and Film properties in the industry. Through this agreement, FIC Latin America and FCP are creating a platform in Latin America to offer Promotional Rights to a wider number of media partners for properties such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, Modern Family, Glee, Avatar, Ice Age, Rio, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Fox Sports, National Geographic Channels shows such as 'Brain Games and Doomsday Preppers' and other film and TV properties.

FIC Latin America is a sales representative of Promotional Rights throughout Latin America and exclusively in Argentina, Brazil and Chile. FIC will work parallel with FCP's existing agents in all non–exclusive territories.

  Yogurtland, WBCP Partner for Looney Tunes Summer Promotion

Yogurtland and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have partnered for a summer promotion featuring Looney Tunes Characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Tweety, Marvin the Martian, and Taz. From July 8 through September 15, Yogurtland will introduce six new frozen yogurt and sorbet flavors and toppings inspired by Looney Tunes characters, their personalities, and their favorite snacks and treats. Each character will have their own collectible spoon and cup, and Yogurtland is offering a new line of co–branded merchandise, including notepads, pencils, key chains, and melamine bowls, while supplies last.

  Imira's Lucky Fred Sold to Atresmedia Television

Imira Entertainment has sold its original production Lucky Fred to Spanish broadcaster group Atresmedia Television, for its children's entertainment segment—Neox Kidz.

Neox Kidz will air the animated adventures of Lucky Fred this summer and the show will be available to audiences in both Castilian and English with dual broadcast via DTT Free TV. The sale comes as part of Lucky Fred's re–launch in Spain.

  Jam Brands Inc. Announces Deal for Paddington Bear

Jam Brands Inc. has signed as the licensing agent for the Paddington Bear brand in Canada. Licenses will be available to Canadian licensees for multiple categories, including toys, apparel, accessories, and food.

The first Paddington feature film based on the children's books by Michael Bond will be released next year. David Heyman (Harry Potter movie franchise) will produce the film and Paul King (The Mighty Boosh and Come Fly with Me) will direct. The film's cast includes Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey and Notting Hill).

Book sales have exceeded 35 million copies, with more than 70 titles in 40 languages and more than 100 countries. An estimated 25 million plush have been sold worldwide to date.

  CPLG names Pau Pascual as new General Manager for Iberia

Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG), a subsidiary of DHX Media, has announced the appointment of Pau Pascual to the newly created position of General Manager–Iberia.

Pascual joined CPLG Spain in 2010 as Marketing, Sales and Retail Director for all CPLG brands. Prior to joining CPLG, he managed the global licensing operations of FC Barcelona Merchandising SL, a Spanish affiliate of Nike.

Pascual will be based in Barcelona, the headquarters for CPLG Iberia. He will report to CEO Peter Byrne.

Peter Byrne said: "I am very confident that the more retail–focused business under Pau's leadership will be a real catalyst to move our business forward."

  TVMania UK Seals Deal for The Lego Movie Apparel

TVMania UK has signed an agreement with The Lego Group to produce apparel based on The Lego Movie.

The film will release in the UK in February and stars Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, and Will Ferrell. The film tells the tale of a Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for the MasterBuilder and joins a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from gluing the universe together.

The deal complements TVMania's existing agreement to produce an apparel range featuring Lego lines such as Lego Friends, Lego Legends of Chima, Lego City, Lego Duplo, Lego Classic, and Lego Minifigure.

  Moonscoop Not in Administration

Media reports concerning news that Moonscoop SA (France) has entered into a Judicial Recovery Procedure, has led to misleading information concerning the status of U.S. based Moonscoop, it was announced by Moonscoop LLC CEO Mike Young & President Liz Young. Moonscoop LLC (formerly known as Mike Young Productions), a developer, producer and creator of kids content, and its subsidiary, Kabillion LLC, a Ranked Top 10 U.S. Free Kids Video on Demand Network, are not included within this reorganization.

Moonscoop France's status in Administration allows them the opportunity to reorganize their company and move forward with their business. 'However, we want to state clearly and emphatically to ensure no misconstruing of information that the U.S. based Moonscoop LLC and Kabillion are independent and stand-alone entities in our production & corporate operations, financing and rights ownership," added Moonscoop LLC's Mike Young & Liz Young. "Furthermore, while Moonscoop France has an equity interest in our companies, we are a completely separate group and are both operationally and financially sound. We are busy with a robust production slate as well as several exciting new projects."

  UP&L, Illumination Entertainment Partner With Pharrell Williams' Clothing Brand

Universal Partnerships & Licensing (UP&L) and Illumination Entertainment have partnered with Grammy Award–winner Pharrell Williams to release 500 Despicable Me 2–themed T–shirts designed by the team at his ICECREAM clothing line.

Following his work on Despicable Me's soundtrack, Williams again signed on to compose and produce songs and themes for the new 3–D, CGI–animated comedy adventure, Despicable Me 2, now in theaters. The ICECREAM T–shirt showcases a number of collaborative designs that feature the iconic Minions stylized with ICECREAM's skateboard and graphic sensibilities. The shirts debuted at the Billionaire Boys Club New York City flagship store on June 26 and sold out in the first two hours.

Limited quantities of the T–shirts arrived in stores on July 3 and are available at Dope Couture, Major, and C.R.E.A.M. Streetwear locations.

  Cut the Rope Makes Inroads into Iberia

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has announced that Enjoy, the Spanish agent for the game Cut The Rope, has added new licensees for the Spanish and Portuguese markets.

A number of regional partners have been added to the worldwide partners already on board such as Hasbro and Mattel. They include Copywrite Europe for the back to school category, Van der Erve for apparel, Helvi 2000 for apparel, Risi for sweet snacks, Dracco for candy, Alfaguara for publishing, Creaciones Euromoda for home textiles and Arazonia Multimedia for PC games.

Cut the Rope has seen over 300 million downloads worldwide and 3 million in Spain. Enjoy was appointed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment, which manages the European licensing campaign on behalf of ZeptoLab.

Trudi Hayward, SVP, Head of Global Merchandise, ITV Studios Global Entertainment, says: "Spain is proving to be hugely receptive to the Cut The Rope brand and Enjoy has pulled together a terrific brand programme for Om Nom. We are gearing up for the Iberian retail launch for Cut The Rope merchandise later this year on the back of the UK launch this spring."

  Peanuts Worldwide Partners with Schleich for Toys

Peanuts Worldwide has entered into a new partnership with toy manufacturer Schleich. Peanuts Worldwide has granted Schleich exclusive worldwide rights on plastic figurines 3 inches and smaller, along with accompanying play sets, vehicles, and accessories through December 2016. Licensing agency AALMG brokered the deal.

To kick off the new partnership, Schleich will release a special Snoopy gold-colored collectible that will be available exclusively at San Diego International Comic–Con. Following that limited-edition release, Schleich will distribute a complete line of Peanuts characters, accessories, and play sets in major retail stores worldwide.

  JELC and Silentnight Dreaming Up Licensing Strategy

JELC has been appointed to build and roll out a licensing strategy for Silentnight, the name behind some well–known bed and mattress products in the UK. Silentnight has seen over 60 years in the business, and now plans to build on the strength and positive associations of its name and 98% consumer recognition to take the brand to a wide range of high–quality, sleep–related products.

The potential for licensed products marketed under the Silentnight name includes hot drinks, herbal sleep remedies, relaxing bath and body lotions and enhancing bedroom environment scents to nightwear and children's cuddly sleep toys.

The Silentnight licensing strategy will be supported by a comprehensive style guide and selected partners. The new brand concept will receive wide exposure at a number of major licensing shows and retail events from BLE in October through 2014 and beyond with the help of JELC, which is the global licensing agent for the Silentnight brand.

  Coca-Cola, MNT Celebrate 30 Years in New Marketing Campaign

Coca–Cola has partnered with the Mexican National Team (MNT) for a new Hispanic marketing campaign that celebrates passion for soccer, the fans, and a 30 year relationship. The campaign includes a new TV commercial, "Wave," that speaks to fans who share the love for the sport and the traditions that bring people together match after match. The commercial spans multiple generations and was created by Ogilvy & Mather. The creative will premiere July 1 on Univision Deportes. "Wave" hits billboards July 15 and print Aug. 14, and it is available for viewing at

Coca–Cola will activate "Plaza Coca-Cola," a year–round events–driven program during MNT tour matches across the U.S., and a summer retail program that includes point of sale, My Coke Rewards experience, and sweepstakes for Coca–Cola fans. Before the U.S. tour matches, Coca–Cola will also bring to life Club Balón Rojo experiential soccer workshops aimed to motivate teens to engage in physical activity and provide them with educational tools to gain access to higher education and empower their communities.

Coca–Cola has been a proud supporter and partner of the MNT for more than 30 years in Mexico and 10 years in the U.S. as part of the MNT's annual tour.

  Sportacus in Moscow

Lazy Town's Sportacus attended the Main Children's Festival, which was broadcast live on Karusel, in Moscow recently. More than 700,000 people visited the event overall, and children enjoyed the Lazy Town area near the main stage with character appearances, cutout stands and photo shoots. Sportacus lead some warm-up dances and signed numerous autographs, with his main theme of 'everyone can be a hero' predominant throughout the appearance.

  H&A to Create Disney Planes Products

H&A is extending its kids portfolio with a three–strong range of bath time products under the Disney Cars spin–off brand, Planes. Planes–branded products will be available in the children's toiletries category for the first time this summer, following the August film release, which is set to introduce the nation to this new world above Cars. H&A's Disney Planes product range includes a hypoallergenic, family friendly Bath & Shower Gel, a 3D Build Your Own Bathtime Plane kit, and a Magic Facecoth & Fizzy Bath Tints set.

  Nottingham Forest Signs Deal for Sendokai Champions

Nottingham Forest has announced that Sendokai Champions will air on Saban's Vortexx on The CW programming block in the United States during its 2013–14 broadcast season.

In addition, Saban Brands will manage the distribution, licensing and merchandising rights of the animated series in North America and Israel.

"Our affiliation with Saban Brands is an important step to Sendokai Champions because it is a powerful group that will enhance the brand and will help to make it grow internationally. We are so pleased with the success that the property has received, both in audience rates and commercially," said David Pérez Andrés, Sales and Business Development Director of Nottingham Forest.

Vortexx on The CW, which reaches 114.2 million households in the U.S., is an entertainment platform focused on delivering content, activities and more featuring high–energy action, adventure and comedy. On television, Vortexx provides programming, which airs Saturdays from 7 a.m.–noon on The CW. Online, keeps kids entertained 24/7/365 with games, full episodes and more.

Sendokai Champions is currently being broadcast in Spain on the TVE kids channel Clan, and through Cartoon Network in Latin America; moreover, Sendokai Champions has partners such as Planeta Junior (L&M management in South and Eastern Europe), Simba (Master Toy in Iberia) and the recent partnership with Panini, which will launch the first Collectibles in Spain towards the end of 2013.

  Sonic the Hedgehog Set For Annual Debut

Pedigree Books has revealed that Sega Europe's gaming brand Sonic the Hedgehog will join its line–up of 2013 Gaming and New Media Annuals.

Sonic adds to Pedigree's Gaming and New Media range, which includes other digital brands such as Annoying Orange, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds and Angry Birds Star Wars and will go on sale from 1st August. The publishing sector for Sonic has seen strong growth.

This range will be the first 'Super Interactive Annuals' in the market and in a first for the Annuals category will include free added value Augmented Reality (AR) technology, which allows readers to use tablets and smartphones to access additional content via a free app.

  Entertainment One's Peppa Pig Scoops El Chupete Award in Spain

Entertainment One's (eOne) pre-school brand Peppa Pig is gaining traction in the Spanish market with the addition of an industry accolade.

Peppa Pig has been awarded the top honour of 'Best Children's Character 2013' at Spain's Festival Internacional de Comunicación Infantil El Chupete, which recognizes creative achievements in communications and advertising aimed at children.

Peppa Pig product debuted in the market in 2012 and it is now the second largest country for Peppa merchandise after the UK.

eOne's licensing agent: El Ocho, has assembled a robust line up of over 55 licensees including partners Bandai (toys), Random House Mondadori (publishing), United Labels (apparel), Bauer (magazine) and Simba/Smoby (role play/games). The licensing programme continues to attract new partners with launches planned for events partners and FMCG.

  Planeta Junior Signs with Rainbow for Spain

Planeta Junior has reached an agreement with Rainbow to manage the licenses in Spain for four of its properties: Mia and Me, Winx Club, Pop Pixie and Huntik.

Diego Ibáñez, the International Sales Director at Planeta Junior, explained: "In addition to Rainbow's reputation, this new agreement will also enable us to expand our catalogue with new properties that are sure to be a success here in Spain". Maurizio Distefano, EVP & GM CP of Rainbow, added: "We think Planeta Junior is the ideal partner for the distribution of these properties in Spain."

  Power Rangers Celebrates 20 Years with Flash Mob

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Saban's Power Rangers franchise, a flash mob of over 10 members all in ranger Morphsuits invaded Japan Expo and Place du Trocadero last week in Paris, France.

Fans were invited to join the mob and participate in a choreographed martial arts routine to battle the evil "Patrouilleurs." Japan Expo is the largest Japanese popular culture convention.   Happy Toon World Goes Global

Following on from Licensing Show in Las Vegas, many agents have signed for the Happy Toon World brand, including The Brand Liaison in the USA; Icon Promotions in Russia, Blueprint in Australia, IMC Licensing in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay, PL Global Network for much of Latin America, CLA in Italy and Switzerland, Alicom in the Nordic Territories, and TL Corporation in Korea

There are also plans to secure agents in Asia and the Middle East.

Happy Toon World is a place where over 40 junior versions of world famous characters, including Little Frankenstein, Little Puss N Boots and Little Tinker Bell come together.

  Bikini Bottom Summer

In Italy, Nickelodeon has again partnered with the Genoa Aquarium, following the success of the partnership in 2012. The 'edutainment' deal sees the creation of dedicated SpongeBob SquarePants areas in the ocean and reef environments, suitably recreated and branded in authentic Bikini Bottom style.

Nickelodeon costume characters will also be making appearances in other parts of the country throughout July and August, with SpongeBob SquarePants meeting fans for photos, games and fun at the Zoomarine adventure park near Rome and Dora the Explorer interacting with her Italian fans at the Aquafan water park in Riccione.

Nickelodeon Italy has also inked a summer partnership with Hertz car rentals that has seen the creation of a fleet of 100 cars branded with key Nickelodeon characters. The cars will be available from mid–July for six months from Hertz locations in Rome and Milan.

There is also a partnership in Spain with Madrid's Parque de Atracciones for the third year running to stage two shows based on Nickelodeon properties, and in France, La Tournee Nickelodeon will run from 31 July to 17 August, and will feature eight Nickelodeon shows across France.

  Sky Blu Releases Song from Small Potatoes

Sky Blu, one half of pop band LMFAO, has teamed with Big Bad University colleagues Mark Rosas and Shwayze for a remixed version of the song "Imagination," which was written by Little Airplane's Josh Selig and originally performed by children's TVs' animated singers the Small Potatoes.

The hip hop version of "Imagination," remixed by Mark Rosas and featuring Shwayze, can be found on Sky Blu's first solo album Rebel Music, released recently on July 4, 2013. The album is available as a free download at The new track, produced by Mark Rosas and Josh Selig, will have a new animated video set to be released mid–July.

"We are so excited that artists of the calibre of Sky Blu, Mark Rosas and Shwayze have given the Small Potatoes song, "Imagination," a grown-up, hip–hop twist," says Small Potatoes' creator and founder of Little Airplane Productions Josh Selig.   RMI Announces Representation of Louis Smith MBE

Rights Management International (RMI) has announced its appointment as Licensing Agents for Louis Smith MBE. 24 year-old Louis is one of Britain's top gymnasts, who entered the Olympic Stadium in 2012 as Captain of the gymnastic team.

At the end of last year, Louis took part in Strictly Come Dancing where he and partner Flavia won the contest.

Louis is concentrating on TV for 2013 and 2014, commentating on top sports shows for both Sky and the BBC and taking part in a prime time TV show in autumn/winter 2013.
