TGI Fridays Taps Beanstalk to Grow Brand’s Retail Offerings

T.G.I. Friday'sTGI Fridays has hired Beanstalk to extend the Fridays brand into additional food, beverage, and other complementary categories in mass, grocery, convenience store, and club channels. Beanstalk will also work with existing licensees Heinz and Inventure to assist in the development of its Fridays-branded food products.
Fridays currently offers a wide variety of frozen snacks, including beer-battered onion rings, buffalo popcorn chicken, honey BBQ wings, and cheeseburger sliders with sweet and smokey BBQ. The brand also offers a variety of packaged snacks, including many varieties of the chain’s potato skins. 

MAC Cosmetics, The Simpsons Team Up for Marge-Inspired Line

MAC CosmeticsMAC Cosmetics has collaborated with The Simpsons for a Marge Simpson-inspired collection. The collection will be available in stores everywhere on September 4 and online at on August 28. It will be sold exclusively for one day only during International Comic-Con: San Diego on July 26 at the MAC Cosmetics Gaslamp store. Fans are invited to visit the store to purchase the collection and also receive a Marge makeover from the 10-piece collection that includes nail stickers, eye shadows, lipglasses, and lashes.

McFarlane Toys Set to Launch Building Sets for The Walking Dead

The Walking DeadMcFarlane Toys will introduce brick building toys based on AMC’s TV series The Walking Dead. Marking a new licensed category to the company’s portfolio. The new The Walking Dead toys will place McFarlane in the brick building toy aisle alongside other leading manufacturers. The Walking Dead building sets and figures will be available this fall exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide and online at
The initial line will feature realistic sculpts, light-up and shaped features, iconic environments, and dozens of characters and walkers. Collectors and fans of the show can recreate their favorite scenes with the detailed The Walking Dead products.
The first series of product will feature building sets, expansion packs, and figure blind bags for consumers to build their own The Walking Dead apocalypse.

Domo, Ghostbusters Co-Brand Brings New Partners on Board

Domo GhostbustersBig Tent Entertainment has revealed more partners to represent a pop culture mash-up between Domo and Ghostbusters. Underground Toys, Kelly Toy, and Funko will put their own spin on this collaboration with products portraying Domo as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Slimer, and a Ghostbuster.

Underground Toys will create a line for department stores, specialty stores, stationery and gift stores, catalogues, and Internet retailers featuring plush items, mugs, stickers, cookie jars, mobile cases, and other assorted items with rights worldwide (excluding Asia). In addition, Kelly Toys will create branded soft-sculptured toys for the U.S. and Canadian markets in multiple sizes for amusement parks and carnival/prize games.

Funko will distribute products in specialty stores, supermarkets, drug stores, catalogues, stationery/gift stores, online retailers, and mass market worldwide (excluding Asia).

The line, made possible through an agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products as brokered by Big Tent Entertainment, is slated to hit shelves this fall.

Uglydoll Enters the World of 3-D Printing with MakerBot Collaboration

UglydollMakerBot has designed a collection of 3-D printable collectibles featuring four Uglydoll characters—Babo, Wage, Ice-Bat, and Ox—which can now be 3-D printed on MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3-D Printers.   
The first wave of characters are in T-pose format, designed to be 3-D printed and fully poseable. The second wave are Uglydoll characters in a dynamic stance, posed to enjoy the real world of their owner. The third wave will include a 3-D printable Uglydoll bus that will take miniature Uglydoll characters on a fun-filled summer vacation; and the fourth wave will feature 3-D printable environments for the 3-D printed Uglydoll characters. The 3-D printed Uglydoll characters are available on the MakerBot Digital Store. The T-pose and dynamic posed characters are available now, and the additional character sets will be available later this summer.


Atlantyca Signs with Italo for a Two-Tier Special Kids’ Promotion Featuring Geronimo Stilton Brands 

Geronimo StiltonAtlantyca Entertainment has signed with New Shipping Travelers (NST) for a special Geronimo Stilton promotion that will include the Geronimo Stilton Classic and Geronimo Stilton Kingdom of Fantasy brands as part of its friends and family special initiatives. Starting July 10, Italo will include the animated series Geronimo Stilton as part of its special on-board entertainment, broadcasting the show on its high-definition TV screens in Italo’s “smart cinema” coach cars, designed to provide both entertainment and comfort.

The promotion will also include activities at Italo’s Casa Italo, a uniquely designed point-of-reference kiosk found in all Italo route train stations. At the Casa Italo locations in Milan and Rome, kids will receive Geronimo Stilton kits featuring red bags with Geronimo Stilton and Italo logos, books provided by Piemme, and products such as dental kits provided by Sodico and a pocket of paper tissue provided by Clean Paper. The campaign will be supported by advertising, social media initiatives, and dedicated websites.

UEFA Euro 2016 Joins BLE 2014 Lineup

Brand Licensing Europe 2014 has announced UEFA Euro 2016 is amongst a slate of new brands joining the line up at this year’s show which takes place from 7th – 9th October 2014 at London’s Olympia. 

UEFA joins International New York Times, Von Dutch, adidas - A.C. Milan, Chelsea Football Club, National Museum of Royal Navy, Moongazer Cards, Britvic,  Imperial War Museum, Octane5 and Monday 2 Friday, among others.

New Marketing Manager Joins the Extreme Team

JCB Sculpture Unveiled in Germany

JCB SculptureJCB machines have taken centre stage as licensing meets public art in Germany . The
“Dreams Come True” sculpture unveiled in Germany brings two JCB toys to giant size proportions.
The public sculpture by artist Lorenzo Quinn, the fifth son of the late Hollywood actor Anthony Quinn, is a donation by the German toy manufacturer Bruder Spielwaren to the City of Fuerth, nr Nuremberg. Placed in the centre of a roundabout along the town’s main street, the sculpture shows two oversize child’s hands made of aluminium, playing with JCB vehicles and play figures.
Over 600 people attended the unveiling ceremony including the entire Bruder workforce, national and local media, regional politicians and the mayor of Fuerth.
Bruder have been a licensee of JCB for over 12 years and the partnership, recently renewed for a further 5 years, has seen the development of a series of 1:16th scale JCB hobby toys which are sold in the UK and across Europe through a wide spectrum of toy retailers and online specialists alongside Bruder’s wider range of construction and agricultural toy ranges. 

The Red Harlequin Closes Multi-Territory Deal

Canadian publishing group Éditions AdA has acquired Of Masks and Chromes and The Kingdom of Deceit, the first two novels in Robert Ricci’s YA fantasy series, The Red Harlequin.
Mylène Archambault, Rights Director at Éditions AdA, acquired all French-speaking rights in a deal with Lisa Hryniewicz, Head of Rights at Koko Media, literary agent for Ricci. The rights include the key markets of France, Belgium, Canada, French Speaking Switzerland, and French Territories.

Mylène Archambault explains, “It’s with great excitement that The Red Harlequin’s teenage hero makes us embark on an adventure, somewhere unknown, exciting, mysterious and dark. ‘If you have followed me this far, then you know that my name is Asheva and that I am a Black Chrome.’  The genius behind the storyline and the structural plot, happening in an alternate world divided by colours, where each person wears a mask to hide a reality that is not what is seems … takes you to a time and space that you simply cannot forget.  “ ‘Never give up – eventually even rivers can wash dams away.’”

The Red Harlequin is a series of fast-paced, coming of age fantasy novels aimed at 12-18 year olds. Of Masks and Chromes and The Kingdom of Deceit are the first two of a planned ten books, which take place in an imaginary world divided by Chrome Nations, besieged by political, social and moral struggles, which holds a mirror to the tumultuous global reality of today.

The first book was launched digitally on various platforms, including WATTPAD (which has 15 million unique monthly users), where it shot to #11 on WATTPAD’s Adventure/Fantasy list in two weeks, and on Kindle, reaching #47 on its Juvenile Fantasy/Coming of Age Bestsellers list. 

Gaumont Announces International Signings for Lanfeust Quest

Lanfeust QuestGaumont Animation has signed new international broadcast partners for Lanfeust Quest, its adaptation of the comic and manga franchise Lanfeust Of Troy – 10 million copies have sold worldwide, including a multi-territory deal with Disney Channels.
Lanfeust Quest will make its debut in Spain thanks to free to air broadcasts on Disney Channel and a second FTA window on TVE. Other free to air broadcasts will take place on ABC3 in Australia, on Disney Channel in German-speaking Europe and Turkey as well as Disney XD in the Netherlands. On the Pay TV front, Biggs Channel acquired the series for Portugal while Disney XD acquired the show in Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Germany and Spain as well as Central Eastern Europe, the Middle-East and Africa.

SpongeBob Teams with Jeans for Genes  

Jeans for Genes has announced that SpongeBob SquarePants as its character ambassador for this year’s appeal. 
Swapping his iconic brown trousers in favour of a pair of denim ones, SpongeBob SquarePants, along with his friends Patrick Star, Gary the Snail and Sandy Cheeks will undergo a denim makeover to encourage people to sign up and help raise funds in support of this year’s campaign.

To celebrate the partnership and help to raise money for the vital care and support for children with genetic disorders, exclusive trolley token keyrings featuring SpongeBob SquarePants sporting his new denim look have been created and can be bought from the charity’s website at The partnership will be supported across the Nickelodeon network, including activity at Nickelodeon Land, part of Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Miffy Turns 60 and Joins le Tour 

MiffyGlobal celebrations for Miffy's 60th Anniversary next year are gearing up following the announcement that she will be the Mascot for the 2015 Tour de France.
DRi Licensing's iconic brand will take to the road during next year's race which starts in June in Utrecht, Miffy's home town in the Netherlands.
As cycling fans came to Yorkshire to see this year’s Grand Depart, statues of Miffy on top of four striking Le Tour Utrecht Skodas, dressed in the official jerseys of the Tour, were driving the course to promote next year’s race.
Within the UK, there is a raft of anniversary activity planned to mark this milestone for Dick Bruna’s classic character. Bliss – the UK charity that helps care for premature and sick babies – has chosen Miffy as its new brand ambassador; the partnership kicks off on 17 November (World Premature Day) and will be followed  by key fund-raising events throughout 2015. Miffy will also feature across the charity’s literature, distributed throughout the NHS. 

Christopher Keenan appointed as VP, Creative & Executive Producer for HIT

HIT Entertainment has announced the appointment of Christopher Keenan as new VP, Creative & Executive Producer for HIT Entertainment. 
Based in HIT Entertainment’s London office, Keenan will continue the HIT Content Development and Production team’s work of building powerful preschool brands through engaging stories and content across multiple platforms.  Keenan will oversee HIT’s centre of excellence for content and development, reporting to Edward Catchpole.  He will replace Michael Carrington in the global head of production role.

Atlantyca Signs with Millenium in Singapore

Atlantyca Entertainment has signed with Singapore-based Millennium Entertainment International to create and produce character based-live entertainment shows based on the Geronimo Stilton: In The Kingdom of Fantasy books and the Geronimo Stilton Classic book series for the Asia Pacific and Middle East.
The deal was secured by Rachele Geraci, Atlantyca’s Licensing Manager. This deal marks Atlantyca’s first foray into musical performances for the region. Geronimo Stilton stage productions have proven to be a success for the company with shows currently touring throughout Belgium, Holland, Spain, Canada and most recently the company announced its partnership with the Susan Gurman Theatrical Literacy Agency to produce stage productions for the US.

Sunny Lee appointed at Studio 100

Sunny LeeStudio 100 International, part of the entertainment company, Studio 100 Group, has announced the appointment of Sunny Lee as Licensing Manager in the Asian Pacific region.

Reporting to Marie-Laure Marchand, International Licensing Director, Sunny will be responsible for handling consumer products as well as coordinating the marketing plans for all key local brands. Sunny will be based in Sydney at the Flying Bark Studios, acquired by Studio 100 Group in 2012, but will have responsibility for Australia, New Zeaand, South East Asia and Korea.

Sunny will work on such brands as Blinky Bill or Tashi in Australia/New Zealand and will also be in charge of developing the scope of Maya the Bee, Vic the Viking, Heidi brands in the region.
