Crayola, Sally Hansen Collaborate for Nostalgic Nail Polish Collection

Crayola and Sally Hansen teamed up to release three new nail polish collections inspired by some of Crayola's most iconic hues.
 
The first collection features 12 new nail polish shades, including Razzmatazz, Cerulean, and Carnation Pink. Each bottle is decorated with the Crayola squiggle. The partnership will last for one year and the bottles will be available at drugstores nationwide starting this month.

The Brand Liaison to Represent Jimmy The Bull

The Brand Liaison will represent Jimmy The Bull, the internet sensation bull terrier created by artist Raphael Mantesso. Jimmy the Bull licensing includes images that combine photography and free-hand illustrations.
 
Since its first release in 2015, the drawings of Jimmy The Bull have been broadcasted across global media. The brand’s first book, A Dog Named Jimmy, featured a collection of this imagery.
 
Expanding upon the Jimmy The Bull’s book of art and imagery, Jimmy the Bull licensing will include giftables, calendars, stationery, hydration, apparel, and more.

GreenLight and Sony in Deal Extension

GreenLight Collectibles announces a new agreement with Sony Pictures Television.
 
This collaboration not only includes an extension of the current properties Breaking Bad, Charlie’s Angels and Starsky & Hutch, but two new hit shows have also been added to the mix including Married with Children and Sanford and Son.

BBC Worldwide ANZ Extends BBC Earth Licensees

BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) added new licensees for BBC Earth, including Australia Post and Brownout Publishers.
 
Fans can purchase the collectors’ package of stamps featuring stamps with natural history imagery. The stamps are on sale at Australian Post Offices nationwide and at auspost.com.au/stamps.
 
Additionally, Browntrout Publishers will launch the 2018 Square Wall calendar this year. It will be available in both Australia and New Zealand and will feature scenes of BBC Earth’s natural history archive.

American Gods Merch Deal Announced

Forbidden Planet has announced its partnership with FremantleMedia to launch a wave of apparel and giftware inspired by the American Gods TV series.  American Gods is based on Neil Gaiman’s award-winning novel of the same name and airs on Amazon Prime Video internationally.  In the UK, American Gods is currently the most watched show on the streaming service.  The range of products from Forbidden Planet is expected to be made available to consumers at the end of June 2017.
 
Forbidden Planet’s new range of products will be based on the American Gods TV series, produced by FremantleMedia North America, and features official tees, fashion accessories and giftware, only available at Forbidden Planet stores and www.forbiddenplanet.com.

Build-A-Bear Workshop and Hot Topic Partner for Furry and Fierce Collection

Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. and Hot Topic have teamed up to debut a bold-yet-cuddly line of furry friends, complete with stylish outfits and accessories, and matching pieces for teens and young adults. This is the first time the brands have worked together to develop a joint collection, which they will officially unveil in mid-July.

Bears with Hot Topic flair will be available at select Hot Topic stores, hottopic.com, and buildabear.com. Accompanying furry friend outfits and accessories will be sold in Build-A-Bear Workshop stores and at buildabear.com. The matching young adult styles will be available at select Hot Topic stores and hottopic.com along with a Funko Pop! vinyl figure. Cap’n Crunch Selects Brand Central as Licensing Agent

Cap’n Crunch selected the global brand consultancy Brand Central LLC to extend the brand into select merchandise and food categories. The brand will feature products in categories including apparel, accessories, collectibles, and a range of consumables.

Cryptozoic, Cartoon Network Enterprises to Release Rick and Morty: Anatomy Park—The Game Next Month

Rick and Morty: Anatomy Park—The Game, from Cryptozoic Entertainment, will be available at retailers nationwide on July 12. The game is based on the “Anatomy Park” episode of Adult Swim’s animated series Rick and Morty.

In Rick and Morty: Anatomy Park—The Game, players become characters from the episode as they try to build Anatomy Park. The game sends players into the body of Ruben, a homeless man, in order to save the microscopic amusement park built from his organs. Players attempt to score the most Victory Points by the end of the game.

Smiley Teams with Zara

The Original Smiley Brand announces the launch of its latest collection with Zara and a major editorial feature to support this on Zara.com.
 
This is the first time Zara kids have launched a range with Smiley, having successfully worked together on collections for Zara Baby, Zara Woman and Zara Trafaluc over many years.
 
The launch of this latest collection reflects the continued demand at retail for Smiley and sell through exceeding expectations at the global fashion retail powerhouse.

Women in Toys’ Empowerment Day to Kick Off Fall Toy Preview

Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) has announced that it will host its annual WIT Empowerment Day on Monday, October 2 at the Dallas Market Center, the day before Fall Toy Preview opens in Dallas, TX.
 
Held in collaboration with Walmart, WIT Empowerment Day will include product pitches, mentorship activities, and networking opportunities for professionals in the areas of toys, games, licensing, and entertainment. The goal of the event is to help entrepreneurs, manufacturers, inventors, and others take their businesses and products “to the next level.”
 
Members of WIT will be able to pitch their products directly to Walmart buyers and top toy companies, including Hasbro, Spin Master, PlayMonster, and Jazwares, for licensing or feedback. (To be eligible to pitch Walmart, products must be currently sold online or in stores, and companies must be at least 51% woman-owned.)
“Ask an Expert” information sessions will also take place, allowing participants to get one-on-one mentoring from experts on e-commerce, crowdfunding, financing, patents and trademarks, packaging, design, marketing and PR, and more. Additional details about Empowerment Day, including registration, can be found online.
All Fall Toy Preview exhibitors and guests with a show badge can attend Empowerment Day’s opening Walmart Buyer Panel, afternoon keynote session, and evening cocktail party.

Transformers Touch Down at Character World

Character World has launched a new Transformers range inspired by the release of Transformers: The Last Knight movie.
 
The action movie, featuring stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci and Josh Duhamel is set to be the latest in a string of hits for the Transformers series with a new war between humankind and the giant robots hitting the big screen.
 
Character World’s exclusive Transformers duvet covers will be available across the UK and Europe in retailers and online.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments
    • Set trend direction and make recommendations for new product entry
    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions
    • Ensure adherence to internal approval process (i.e. safety, quality, financial, legal, content, creative, consumer activation, consumer affairs etc.) and assist in resolving issues.
  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies
    • Research, secure and develop new licensees building upon the success of existing segments in order to achieve predictable, profitable and sustainable growth
    • Negotiate deal terms including: grant of rights, royalty rates, guarantees, projections and business plans
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 7 years’ experience in licensing or consumer marketing work for a CPG company.

I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
 
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
