Spin Master Signs on as Master Toy Partner for Two New Brands

Spin Master has signed with Paramount Licensing as the master toy licensee for next summer’s Monster Trucks movie. Paramount Licensing will make a major consumer products launch, while Spin Master will produce an extensive line of vehicle-based products for release alongside the film. 
Spin Master has also partnered with Saban Brands as global master toy licensee for the Popples brand. Popples is a new animated children’s series based on the TV series and toy line from the 1980s that is set to launch next year. Spin Master will produce a line of children’s toys including small dolls, collectible figures, play sets, and plush. The line will hit the U.S. market next year, followed by an expanded international program in 2016.
Popples is a comedy series about a species of creatures that can pop into a ball. The characters are the Best Popple Pals, who always want to help their friends, neighbors, and each other. 

Joester Loria Group to Extend Amy Coe Brand

The Joester Loria Group is set to bring the Amy Coe brand into broader distribution and new product categories; expand on the children’s apparel program; reintroduce Amy Coe layette, infant, and toddler accessories, bedding, and décor; and develop Amy Coe Home for adult bedding and home goods. 

Snap Global Solutions Inc. and OddBot Inc. Bring Preschool Fairy Tale Series to TV and Digital Platforms

Snap Global Solutions, a Florida-based toy design and manufacturing company, and OddBot Inc., a Los Angeles-based animation production company, have joined forces to bring Snap’s My1Story (pronounced My First Story) fairytale brand to TV and other digital platforms. To facilitate this process, OddBot is looking for production, distribution, and interactive partners that share its vision for My1Story, as well as a desire to bring it to an international audience.
Ricardo Venegas and Jaime Rodriguez created My1Story to make classic fairytales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Humpty Dumpty, and the Three Little Pigs, appeal to kids today.

Yoko Ono Appoints Epic Rights as Global Licensing Agent for John Lennon

John LennonYoko Ono has a contract for global branding, licensing, and rights management with Epic Rights to develop a global branding and licensing initiative that encompasses the career of John Lennon. As global licensing agent, Epic Rights will develop two new programs for the John Lennon legacy: the John Lennon Classic brand for products featuring the artist’s name, likeness, and signature; and the Bag One Arts brand, based on drawings by John Lennon from rare archival sketches. Epic Rights introduced the new John Lennon programs to potential licensing partners at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
Both the John Lennon Classic and Bag One Arts programs will offer potential licensees the opportunity to incorporate Lennon’s photos, images, and sketches across a broad selection of product categories. To ensure the continued integrity of Lennon’s legacy and art, all licensed products will have the personal approval of Yoko Ono.

Saban Brands and Jakks Pacific Announce Emojiville

EmojivilleSaban Brands and Jakks Pacific have partnered to develop a new web and TV series, Emojiville. The series will follow five emoji friends in the city of Emojiville. Jakks Pacific will act as a strategic partner and will develop consumer and technology products, while Saban will lead the content, distribution, and other licensing for the brand. 

Marvel Reveals Merchandising Program 

AvengersMarvel has revealed its merchandising program ahead of the 2015 release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Merchandising licensee partners include Hasbro, Lego, Hot Wheels, Under Armor, Mad Engine, and Hallmark. The movie is set to hit theaters next summer, with merchandise being released throughout the year. 

WBCP Showcases DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television Primetime Television Program at Licensing Expo

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) showed new Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) and DC Entertainment primetime TV licensing offerings based on DC Comics and Vertigo characters at Licensing Expo. WBTV’s new DC Comics-based series The Flash, Gotham, Constantine, and Arrow, and new Vertigo-based series iZOMBIE, will feature storylines and characters that will inspire an array of new products from licensing partners in every category.

FremantleMedia Appointed Official Licensing Agent for Deadliest Catch

Deadliest CatchFremantleMedia has become the official licensing agent for the show Deadliest Catch. Fremantle looks to build a licensing program for the series across all categories and aimed to secure partners including themed restaurants, lottery, slot machines, gaming, and sporting goods at Licensing Expo.
Deadliest Catch kicked off its 10th season in April. The show chronicles the adventures of Alaskan crab fisherman whose profession is known to be the deadliest in the world.

Stonyfield, Brandgenuity Partner for Organic Licensing Program

StonyfieldStonyfield has chosen Brandgenuity as its exclusive licensing agency. Brandgenuity will work to extend Stonyfield, YoBaby, and YoKids into a variety of organic healthy snacks and food solutions. The company plans to work with Stonyfield to launch a licensing program that provides families with organic products for breakfast, snacks, school lunchboxes, and more. 

Kids Preferred to Introduce Splat the Cat Line

Splat the CatKids Preferred will introduce a new series of Splat the Cat toys, a line that is based on the Splat the Cat books. Splat is a rambunctious cat that befriends a mouse, goes to school, and learns lessons along the way. The line will include the Splat the Cat beanbag, Splat the Cat plush, Seymour the Mouse beanbag, and a Splat the Cat hardcover book.

Pretty Ugly Adds Partners, Expands Product Offerings 

Pretty Ugly LLC has partnered with Chasing Fireflies LLC for an exclusive line of costumes set to launch next year. 
Pretty Ugly and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have entered a co-branded collaboration to create plush based on The Wizard of Oz and Uglydoll characters. Gund will offer the range, including characters Moxy as Dorothy, Wage as Tin Man, Bobo as Cowardly Lion, Jeero as Scarecrow, and Ox as the Wicked Witch of the West. The series of plush was previewed at Licensing Expo and will launch at retail in early fall.
Pretty Ugly has teamed up with CBS Consumer products for a line of Star Trek characters. The line will launch next year and will feature Wage as Captain James T. Kirk, Ox as first officer Spock, Ice-Bat as chief engineer Scotty, Babo as Doctor McCoy, and Tray as communications officer Uhura. 

Bazooka Candy Brands, DreamWorks Team Up for How to Train Your Dragon 2 Promotional Campaign

Dragon 2Bazooka Candy Brands has collaborated with DreamWorks Animation to introduce a limited-edition candy line and multi-platform merchandising program to support How to Train Your Dragon 2. Bazooka Candy Brands will support the program with a themed TV and online advertising campaign that will drive traffic to a Dragons racing game at during the promotional campaign.
The summer movie campaign will introduce a limited-edition Dragon Berry tie-in flavor for Bazooka's Jumbo Push Pop, Juicy Drop Pop, Baby Bottle Pop, and Ring Pop. The Topps Co. also released limited-edition trading cards that contain a special code for players to use in the online Dragons game.

Disney Reveals Cast of Descendants 

DescendantsDisney’s Descendants, the newest Disney Channel original movie set to air next year, has announced the actors playing the movie’s main characters. Set in the land of Auradon, Disney’s iconic characters are living out their happy endings, while the villains are miserable in a nearby remote island. In this film, the offspring of fan-favorite Disney characters—both the villains and the good guys—go to prep school alongside one another. Dove Cameron will play the daughter of Maleficent; Sofia Carson will portray the Evil Queen’s daughter, Evie; Cameron Boyce will play Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; and Booboo Steward will play Jay, son of Jafar. Kenny Ortega will direct and choreograph the contemporary live-action adventure comedy. 

All Aboard for Thomas Land in North America

Thomas & FriendsThomas Land, a full-scale Thomas & Friends attraction, is set to debut in South Carver, Mass., next summer. It will be the largest permanent Thomas & Friends attraction in North America. This family amusement park—which is currently in development with Hit Entertainment, a division of Fisher-Price—will be located near greater Boston and Providence. Thomas Land will cover 11.5 acres and feature 14 rides based on the Thomas & Friends Island of Sodor. The rides will feature Thomas, Diesel, Toby, Cranky the Crane, and Harold the Helicopter. 

Rabbids Licensed Products to Hit Retail this Summer

Ubisoft’s Rabbids-branded products are hitting major retailers nationwide with a full lineup of licensed apparel, books, toys, and more. The video game has expanded to parodies, videos, illustrations, partnerships, products, and a TV show on Nickelodeon, Rabbids Invasion. A new show created by Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show, will be available in November in several territories, including the U.S., the UK, France, and Germany. 

JLK Brand, memBrain to Manage Licensing for Kidrobot's Yummy World Brand

Yummy WorldJLK Brand and memBrain Licensing will jointly manage the licensing for Kidrobot’s Yummy World over the next three years.
Kidrobot introduced the brand to specialty stores in 2006. The company has given the characters names and personalities, which have translated into plush versions of the cast of characters in multiple sizes. Licensing for the brand will focus on the town of Sprinkle Tree, where all of the Yummy World friends are from.

caseable, Hewlett-Packard Sign Licensing Deal for Uglydoll

Pretty Ugly LLC has signed a deal with caseable as its latest licensee for a global line of collectible soft and hard cases designed for tablets, smartphones, and laptops. They will be distributed on caseable’s online shop and mobile app, Hewlett-Packard’s website and other URLs, sub-domains, co-branded sites, HP retail resellers, and its brick-and-mortar stores.

Zag Studios Launches Entertainment Studio, Taps Key Executives

Zag Studios has tapped two global entertainment brand executives, André Lake Mayer and Jared Wolfson, as the company kicks off a new entertainment studio in California. The executives will drive the development and sustainability of long-term, multi-category trans-media brands for kids and families worldwide.
Mayer joins the team as president of global brand strategy and consumer products. He is a 25-year veteran in the film and TV entertainment-based consumer products, toy, and licensing industry. Wolfson joins Zag as head of production, development, and acquisitions for the U.S. TV division and holds 15 years of hands-on involvement in production, development, consumer products marketing, and licensing activities in the kids' and family business.
Zag Studios will house the pre- and post-production creative and executive teams for the company’s feature film and TV divisions, including animation and live action productions. 

Marvel Builds its Strength and Performance Initiative with New Partnerships

MarvelMarvel Entertainment LLC has teamed up with companies known for performance, strength, and durability—something that its arsenal of superheroes is also known for. Companies that will collaborate with Marvel include Under Armor for apparel, Tantrum for electronic accessories, Bell for performance bike accessories, C-Preme for durable helmets, and Sage Fruit for produce. 

New Paddington Partnerships and Licenses for U.S. and Canada

The Copyrights Group announced new partnerships and licenses for Paddington in the U.S. and Canada. Products launching this year include toys, apparel, accessories, puzzles, nursery goods, confectioneries, bath accessories, healthy snacks, boxed toy sets, and kids travel seats. HarperCollins will include new formats for its summer publishing plan, along with movie tie-in titles set to arrive this fall. The Paddington film will be released December 12 by The Weinstein Co. in the U.S. and Canada. Paddington plush dolls will be co-branded with Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and will launch in Canada this fall. 

Alita Friedman Launches Alita’s Brand Bar

Alita Friedman has launched its premier consulting house, Alita’s Brand Bar, which will advise companies on how to develop new revenue streams through brand extension strategies. Alita’s Brand Bar is consulting and licensing across industries representing companies including St. Martin’s Press, MZ Wallace, Pixopop, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Vita Organic, Zipz Premium Wine, Mobwives, and GirlzNDollz.
Additionally, Friedman and Netherlands-based PS not just another agency will reintroduce the Oilily brand as its exclusive U.S. licensing agent. Nancy Kopilnick will join Friedman as vice president of sales and marketing. 

The Biggest Loser Partners with Three New Licensees

The Biggest LoserThe Biggest Loser has partnered with new licensees for products designed to reinforce its position as a franchise symbolizing healthy living. The products include cookware by Kind Kitchen and branded food and vegetables by House Foods and Duda Farm Fresh Foods & Grimmway Farms, respectively.
The Kind Kitchen will launch a line of The Biggest Loser-branded kitchenware, including cookware, bakeware, and kitchen accessories. Products include non-stick pans, woks, food preparation utensils, aprons, kitchen tools and gadgets, teakettles, non-stick baking pans, baking mats, and pie plates. The co-promotional deal with House Foods includes branded bags of Tofu Shirataki and Traditional Shirataki noodle products. Duda Farm Fresh Foods & Grimmway Farms licenses include branded celery (Duda) and carrots (Grimmway).

Celessence Technologies Partners with Springs Global to Introduce the Febreze Sleep Serenity Collection 

Celessence Technologies, a micro-encapsulation company, has partnered with Springs Global, which acquired the Febreze trademark license from The Procter & Gamble Co., to deliver the benefits of Febreze in several bedding products through the use of Celessence micro-encapsulation, a delivery system that imports fragrance or skincare actives onto multiple surfaces including textiles and print. Products from Springs Global that feature Febreze Sleep Serenity are available at major retailers. 

Seltzer to Represent Jeremy Lin and JLIN for Licensing 

JLIN Marketing and professional basketball player Jeremy Lin have chosen Seltzer Licensing Group as their licensing agent to secure strategic and new licensing partners for Jeremy Lin, Linsanity, JLIN, 林書豪, and 林书豪. Seltzer will seek to extend Lin’s global footprint through educational programs, products, and fashion accessories. Lin’s on-court success has led to popularity and demand for merchandise from fans in the U.S., China, Taiwan, and throughout the world.
Seltzer Licensing Group will meet with prospective licensees at Licensing Expo. 


Transformers and Angry Birds Featured in New Mash-Up

Angry Birds TransformersRovio Entertainment and Hasbro Inc. will create a mobile game, consumer licensed goods, and a product line from Hasbro featuring popular entertainment brands Angry Birds and Transformers. Hasbro will introduce a product line featuring telepods technology, which will be available in September.

eOne Plans to Expand So So Happy Brand

Entertainment One Licensing (eOne) will expand its teen pop culture property So So Happy. eOne has built a long-term, multi-platform strategy for the brand aimed at new categories, developed trend-driven style guides, and created fresh digital content supported by a marketing campaign in the U.S.
The brand has partnered with Kelly Teegarden Organics to launch licensed cosmetics and skincare products targeting teens and young adults. The line will feature products formulated with organic and natural non-GMO ingredients and will include lip gloss with an LED light and a built-in mirror. The cosmetics and skin care line will be introduced to the market next spring at specialty shops, boutiques, and department stores.
Thirteen two-minute comedy shorts based on the brand are due for delivery next spring, and will be hosted on social media and a new website that is also set to launch next spring. 

Sony, Titan Merchandise to Launch The Heisenberg Collection

Breaking BadTitan Merchandise and Sony have created The Heisenberg Collection for the Titans line. The 12-piece set features Walter White, Heisenberg, Jesse Pinkman, and other characters from the Breaking Bad series. Each figure stands 3 inches tall and is blind-boxed, and some come with character-specific accessories.
The Heisenberg Collection will be available for purchase in December from Forbidden Planet in the UK, Entertainment Earth and Diamond Comics in the U.S., IKON in Australia, and HEO in Europe. 

Flappy Bird Flies into New Licensing Deal 

Flappy Bird, UK agent Lisle International, and licensing company Character World have created a new deal to bring Flappy Bird to kids' bedding.
Character World, a licensed bedding and accessories company, will offer a line of bedroom textiles featuring Flappy Bird. The company will design, manufacture, and distribute the products to retailers across the UK and Ireland, and seeks retail partners for the Flappy Bird brand. The line is set to launch in September.

The Hummingbird Bakery Whips Up Gift Line with Scoop Designs

The Hummingbird Bakery has appointed Scoop Designs as its official giftware licensee. The agreement marks the kick-off of a strategic licensing program developed by Hummingbird’s exclusive brand licensing agency Beanstalk.
Scoop Designs will create gift sets combining baking equipment with recipe cards from The Hummingbird Bakery, enabling fans to re-create the brand’s indulgences at home. The collection will launch late this year with a broad rollout of the range set for department, grocery, and independent store distribution next spring and summer. 

Bulldog Globally Expands It’s a Wild Life

Bulldog Licensing has signed Black Mint Licensing to represent It’s a Wild Life across Australia and New Zealand, which marks the beginning of the global expansion of the new design company.
Bulldog has already signed VMC for fashion and technical accessories and Yoofiti for a wall art line. Bulldog is also in advanced discussions for categories in the UK including greeting cards, apparel, and homewares.

Hoho Rights, Immediate Media Co. Launch Cloudbabies Special

Hoho Rights has launched a Cloudbabies one-off magazine special from Immediate Media Co. The magazine went on sale on April 23.
The Cloudbabies special will be 34 pages long and features games, puzzles, and stories about Baba Pink, Baba Blue, Baba Green, and Baby Yellow. It also includes a cover mount with two figurines—Baba Pink and Baba Blue—and two stickers of Moon and Sun. 

Fender to Launch Licensing Program in Europe

Fender has announced that Sunset Bioworld and Pyramid Posters will launch apparel and wall art lines as part of its new licensing partnership. The deal marks the first European licensing program, developed with Fender’s licensing agency, Beanstalk. Sunset Bioworld’s line will feature T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, socks, headwear, wallets, and key chains. Pyramid Posters will create posters, canvases, woodprints, mirrors, metal prints, key chains, and badges. 

Beanstalk Expands in Asia with New Partnership

Beanstalk announced that it would further expand their territorial reach through a strategic alliance with Asian brand licensing agency CLICK! Licensing. CLICK! will work with Beanstalk to develop local properties while extending Beanstalk’s clientele in Asia. 


Shaun the Sheep Heads to Southeast Asia

Cartoon Network has acquired the exclusive rights from Aardman Animations to launch a new season of Shaun the Sheep in Southeast Asia, including Taiwan and the Philippines. The show will air the first part of season four immediately, and the second half will be available next year. This will coincide with the release of the Shaun the Sheep movie. The network has rights for season one and two until 2018.


Hit Entertainment in Production on Fisher-Price’s Little People Series

Little PeopleThe Fisher-Price Little People brand has entered pre-production for a CGI-animated TV series. This production is the first collaboration between Hit Entertainment and Fisher-Price since Mattel acquired Hit in 2012. The series emphasizes the power of discovery to inspire imagination, creativity, and thinking skills, and is planned for release next fall.
