Genius Brands International Appoints New Licensees for Rainbow Rangers

Genius Brands International Inc. continues to add key partners for its upcoming animated preschool series, Rainbow Rangers, with the appointment of new licensees, including The Bentex Group for apparel, Jay Franco for bedding and home décor, and H.E.R. Accessories for accessories.
 
The new licensees join the brand’s global master toy partner Fisher-Price. As master apparel partner, The Bentex Group will develop a range of collections in all sizes. H.E.R. Accessories will create watches, jewelry, hair accessories, and other fashion accessories. Jay Franco will offer bedding, room décor, and bath textiles and accessories.
 
Rainbow Rangers is a behind-the-curtain peek at the lives of Earth's First Responders whose mission is to help protect the Earth’s environment and its animal inhabitants. The series blends fantasy and action-adventure with relatable, accessible stories about friendship and saving the environment.

Céline Dion to Debut New Lifestyle Brand at Nordstrom Stores in August

Nordstrom Inc. partnered with Céline Dion to become the first retail department store in the U.S. to launch her new collection of handbags, luggage sets, and small accessories this fall.

Epic Rights and PROMINENT Brand + Talent, Dion's exclusive representatives for global branding, licensing, and social media marketing, and The Bugatti Group, her manufacturing partner, collaborated with Nordstrom to offer a range of 50 new styles designed in collaboration with the singer.

The new collection will be available at Nordstrom locations nationwide and online beginning this August.

Moose Toys Adds Bonus Day for Pop-Up Shopkins Macaron Café in NYC

Moose Toys will extend the Shopkins Macaron Café in New York City pop-up experience for an extra day on Tuesday, June 20. There will be three timeslots that fans can visit—12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.—and reservations are required.
 
The café is located at 35 N Moore St. in Tribeca. Fans that were waitlisted should check the email address they provided to see if they are invited to attend the bonus day.

Fashion Designer Bobby Abley Celebrates Teletubbies 20th Anniversary at London Fashion Week Men’s

CPLG announced today that it has brokered a deal, on behalf of DHX Brands, with UK menswear designer Bobby Abley to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Teletubbies. Bobby Abley, one of the breakthrough menswear names of recent years, has created a Teletubbies themed capsule range as part of his Spring/Summer 2018 collection, which launched this week during his catwalk show at London Fashion Week Men’s, attended by global fashion press and retailers. The collection is a mix of daywear and loungewear pieces, with a few womenswear additions to fully round off the range. The inventive designs are inspired by the 90s nostalgia associated with the original Teletubbies series, as well as the fun, bright and colourful nature of the characters. Teletubbies has a strong millennial fan base who watched the original series as young children; the collection is a fantastic way to celebrate this key milestone with this demographic. The brand has been strongly engrained in popular culture over the last 20 years and the collaboration with Bobby Abley celebrates the recognition people all over the world have with the colourful characters.

Alpha Group, Man of Action Partner to Create New Animated Series

Alpha Group US LLC and Man of Action Entertainment, creator of Ben 10 and Big Hero 6, partnered to write and produce a new original animated series. Matthew Wexler (Paw Patrol and Bakugan) of WexWorks Media will be the executive producer for the new series.

Broad Street Licensing Group Brokers Licensing Agreement for Tony Roma’s Restaurant Products

Broad Street Licensing Group, exclusive agent for the Tony Roma Restaurant brand has brokered a deal with Ruprecht Company for an extensive line of sous vide meats including ribs and BBQ. This new agreement makes it possible for rib and BBQ fanatics to enjoy Tony Roma’s restaurant quality ribs and BBQ meats in their homes for any occasion. Ruprecht, is the oldest and most renowned operating meat processor and food manufacturer in the Chicago area and has been providing center-of-the-plate protein items to the country’s finest food service and retail establishments for more than 140 years.

Momentum Worldwide, PMK•BNC Launch Gaming and E-sports Practice

Momentum Worldwide and PMK•BNC formed a new cross-agency practice that focuses on connecting brands with video games, e-sports, and video game fans worldwide.
 
The new agency provides consultation services for brands interested in the world of gaming and e-sports, identifying opportunities for sponsorships, in-game marketing, influencer marketing, team and league representation, and more. The practice will also focus on activation expertise for brand experiences and live events, branded content, digital and social engagements, PR and media outreach, and more.
 
The practice will be led by Momentum’s Glenn Minerley and PMK•BNC’s Mark Van Lommel, and will be based out of the agencies’ global headquarters in New York and Los Angeles, respectively.
 
The new practice launches following Momentum’s latest global research study, which was conducted alongside Twitch. The study, “WE KNOW Gamers,” looks into the attitudes, behaviors, and interests of gamers and non-gamers.

Bungie, Activision Share Destiny 2 Early Ship Date, Global Launch Date

Bungie and Activision Publishing Inc.’s Destiny 2 will have an early launch date for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6. The PC version launch date will be on October 24 and is now available to pre-order via Blizzard Entertainment's online gaming service, battle.net.
 
The game’s latest trailer debuted during the Sony Press Conference at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this week. The Destiny 2 console beta early access period for PlayStation 4 players who pre-ordered the game will begin July 18, while early access for Xbox One players who pre-ordered will begin on July 19. The Destiny 2 console beta will open up to all PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players on July 21, and will conclude on July 23. The PC beta kick off is planned for late August.
 
Destiny 2 PlayStation timed exclusives available at launch include a competitive multiplayer map, a three-player cooperative Strike, a blue and white colored ship, specialized gear sets, and an exclusive exotic weapon.

BBC Heavywieghts to Deliver Keynote at The Children’s Media Conference

All American Licensing Signs with Smithsonian for Travel and Home Products

All American Licensing (AAL) will represent Smithsonian for travel-related products under the Smithsonian Journeys brand, and for home-related products under the Smithsonian brand.

AAL will translate the Smithsonian Journeys experience into categories including luggage, bags, travel accessories, optics, travel electronics, and more.  

Additionally, AAL will help Smithsonian build its home program with categories including indoor and outdoor furniture, throws, lighting, home textiles, décor and accessories, furniture care products, flooring, and more.

Technicolor Animation Productions, SIE, PGS Partner to Create Sly Cooper TV Series

Technicolor Animation Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) partnered to create a computer-generated animated TV series based on the PlayStation video game series Sly Cooper. Global distribution—along with licensing and merchandising rights—will be managed by PGS.
 
Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time. Sly is aided by his two best friends, a muscular hippo named Murray and a brainy turtle named Bentley. Nurture Rights Announces Launch of The World of Dinosaur Roar!

Kids’ media company Nurture Rights has announced the launch of The World of Dinosaur Roar!, a new preschool property created by Peter Curtis, produced in association with the Natural History Museum in London. The World of Dinosaur Roar! launches with a collectable series of books, published by Macmillan’s Children’s Books, the official publishing partner for the property.
 
Inspired by the best-selling, classic picture book from the 1990s, Dinosaur Roar!, by Paul Stickland and Henrietta Stickland, The World of Dinosaur Roar! is a new concept that teaches pre-schoolers about dinosaurs. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments
    • Set trend direction and make recommendations for new product entry
    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions
    • Ensure adherence to internal approval process (i.e. safety, quality, financial, legal, content, creative, consumer activation, consumer affairs etc.) and assist in resolving issues.
  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies
    • Research, secure and develop new licensees building upon the success of existing segments in order to achieve predictable, profitable and sustainable growth
    • Negotiate deal terms including: grant of rights, royalty rates, guarantees, projections and business plans
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 7 years’ experience in licensing or consumer marketing work for a CPG company.
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred

Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
 
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
