Rubie’s Costume Co. Inc. partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, to produce officially licensed costumes, accessories, and masks inspired by the feature film Wonder Woman from Warner Bros. Pictures, Tencent Pictures, and Wanda Pictures.

Available in kids’ and adult sizes, the Wonder Woman collection features Wonder Woman, Queen Hippolyta, Ares, and Steve Trevor. In addition, Imagine by Rubie’s offers dress-up costumes and accessories for kids in separates and boxed sets. 

The Wonder Woman collection from Rubie’s will be available this Halloween season.

Wonder Woman has exceeded expectations at the box office, earning more than $100 million domestically in its opening weekend, the largest opening for a female-directed feature.

Sunrights Inc. Extends Beyblade Burst Brand into France and Latin America with Broadcast, Licensing Deals 

Sunrights Inc. partnered with Lagardère and Nelvana to bring the new generation of the Beyblade franchise to France. The series launched on Canal J in March and is set to launch on Gulli this fall. The animated series centers around main character Valt Aoi and his group of Bladers who follow their dreams on a journey to become the best Blader in the world.
 
With the support of Nelvana, Sunrights secured licensing deals with PUBLICS Group for back-to-school, D’Arpèje for wheeled sports, Sun City SASU for apparel and gifts, Les Livres du Dragon D’Or for publishing, Leomil Group for footwear, and Jeux Ravensburger for puzzles.
 
Hasbro’s new line of tops will be available at all major retailers in France this fall. The toys also include a digital component with which players can scan their Beyblade Burst tops into the Beyblade Burst app to create a customized, virtual collection of tops that they can use to battle with friends.
 
Sunrights Inc. partnered with Cartoon Network for the first season of Beyblade Burst in Latin America. The series launched in June and airs on Fridays.  
 
The animated series launched on Teletoon and Disney XD in Canada last fall, and on Disney XD in the U.S. last December. Beyblade Burst also airs in Australia on Channel Go!, and the series will add broadcasters throughout Europe this year.
 
Televix is currently in negotiations to secure broadcast on Free TV and other platforms throughout Latin America, as well as licensing and merchandising deals. The Beyblade Burst product line from Hasbro will hit the shelves in Latin America shortly after the broadcast launch.

Celebrities Attend In the Night Garden 10th Anniversary Celebrations at the Family Gardening Show

Green-fingered celebrities, including actors Jaime Winstone, whose little one loved his Igglepiggle dress up by VMC , Ben Caplan and Harry Hadden-Paton, singers Tina Barrett and JB Gill,  TV presenter Charlotte Jackson and media personality Danielle Lloyd picked up their trowels this weekend to help Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy celebrate In the Night Garden’s 10th anniversary at the Family Gardening Show at Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Wisley.
 
Designed to inspire children to have an interest in gardening, the Family Gardening Show ran from 1st to 4th June. It featured a special In the Night Garden zone, where children could engage in themed activities such as decorating plant pots, Upsy Daisy yoga sessions, musical activities set to the iconic theme tune and sensory story time sessions scheduled throughout the day.  In the Night Garden was the only entertainment brand to take part in the show, and its hugely loved characters made a special appearance at the show.

Playmates Toys Launches New Limited Exclusive Ben 10 Toy Line at Toys “R” Us

The Ben 10 toy line from Playmates Toys is now available as a limited exclusive at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide and online at toysrus.com.  The full collection will be available at all other major retailers in August. 
 
The line is inspired by Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 animated series, which premiered in the U.S. in April. The collection of toys includes action figures, vehicles, play sets, and role-play items.
  
The Playmates Toys collection includes the Basic Action Figure assortment, which features a variety of 5-inch, articulated figures including Ben Tennyson, the 10 different heroic aliens into which he transforms, villains from the first season, and more; the Rustbucket Vehicle and Playset, which transforms into a three-level play set that is more than 2 feet tall; and a Basic and Deluxe Omnitrix and Transform-N-Battle gauntlets and masks.

Entertainment One ‘Suits Up’ New Soft Lines Partners for PJ Masks in the U.S.

Entertainment One is again expanding its consumer products offerings for its hit animated series, PJ Masks, which airs on Disney Junior and Disney Channel in the U.S. An impressive roster of new PJ Masks licensing partners will produce product offerings across a range of soft lines categories, including domestics, home furnishings, wall coverings, bolt fabric, and more. The colorful new merchandise will begin arriving at national mass market retailers later this year beginning spring 2017 with more releasing in fall, in time for back to school.

Now that President Donald Trump has settled into the Oval Office, it is interesting to see how the current political climate has impacted the state of advertising. Even for his swearing in ceremony, Trump used Facebook ads to offer inauguration tickets. When the leader of the free world has a purely business background and has consistently used his name, image, and reputation to advertise products or services, it is an appropriate time to explore the subject of politicians, advertising, and the risks of using a politician’s persona, name, likeness, or image without proper approvals.

Cartoonist Group Licensing Releases New Pattern from Ann Telnaes

Cartooning history was made May 27 when Ann Telnaes won the 2017 Reuben Award to become the first female to receive both the Reuben Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartoons. To commemorate this, Cartoonist Group Licensing is pleased to announce the release of a new pattern based on a Telnaes cartoon: “Cheering.”
 
Telnaes received the Reuben Award at the 2017 convention of the National Cartoonist Society, held in Portland, Oregon. The Reuben Award is the highest award given by cartoonists to cartoonists. Telnaes received the Award for her animated and still editorial cartoons created for the Washington Post during 2016. This was the 71st annual NCS convention. Telnaes won the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 2001.

Beat Bugs Music to Play at My Gym Classes This Summer

Beat Bugs and My Gym partnered for a music-inspired promotion at more than 170 My Gym locations in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Australia this summer. In June and July, Beat Bugs-themed music, games, and other activities, including coloring sheets and puppet shows, will be available during kids’ classes.
 
Beat Bugs is an animated kids series featuring music inspired by The Beatles. The series revolves around the lives and adventures of five charming and funny childlike bugs who explore and learn in their suburban backyard home. Each episode ties in a song by The Beatles sung by one of the characters or guest stars including P!nk, Sia, Aloe Blacc, Rod Stewart, Jennifer Hudson, and more.

JACHS New York Announces First Licensee

Vintage inspired, American contemporary lifestyle brand JACHS New York has partnered with Loungehouse, a division of Bentex Group, to develop a collection of underwear, robes and slippers under the brands JACHS NY, JACHS Girlfriend and The Original JACHS Manufacturing Co., featuring the brand’s designs.
 
Merchant Factors, JACHS’ exclusive licensing agent, brokered the deal marking the brand’s expansion into licensing.
 
The licensed range will be distributed to better department stores and specialty stores across North America as well as online retailers.
 
“We fell in love with JACHS at first glance,” says Irv Safdieh, President of Loungehouse. “The brand projects a unique mix of effortless detail and we look forward to incorporating that aesthetic into our forthcoming collections.”

Build-A-Bear Workshop Adds Pop-Up Shop Experiences at Select Movie Theaters, Family Resorts

This summer, Build-A-Bear Workshop will offer new experiences for fans at select AMC Theatres, Carnival Cruise Line ships, Gaylord Hotels, and Beaches Resorts.

Build-A-Bear Workshop seasonal pop-up shops opened in March at select AMC Theatres locations in Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and 10 additional shops opened this month in Texas, Kansas, and Missouri. Kids can make movie-inspired plush and customize it with an assortment of clothing, accessories, scents, and sounds. Pre-stuffed plush is also available.

The Carnival Cruise Line Build-A-Bear Workshop At Sea experience launched last summer and is now available on all 25 Carnival ships. Build-A-Bear Workshop At Sea lets kids create and customize with a variety of outfits and accessories, including vacation-wear. The selection also includes a signature Carnival bear, Carnival T-shirts and backpacks, and an exclusive Make-Your-Own Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat.

Build-A-Bear Workshop and Beaches Resorts also partnered for shop experiences at resort locations. The first Build-A-Bear Workshop Beaches experience opened last December at Beaches Turks and Caicos, and two additional locations will open this month at Beaches Negril and Beaches Ocho Rios in Jamaica.

On Memorial Day, the Build-A-Bear Workshop returned to Gaylord Hotels, including Gaylord Palms Resort, Gaylord Opryland Resort, and Gaylord Texan Resort. The shops will be available until Labor Day as part of the resorts' annual SummerFest event. Signature Teddy bears, licensed characters, and more are available and customizable.

Broadcasters Snapping Up Mia and Me Season 3

German brand management and media company m4e AG has signed various agreements on the latest installment of its successful TV series “Mia and me” (78 x 23 minutes). Nickelodeon has acquired the pay TV rights for the new season 3 for the Nordic territories, as well as free TV and pay TV rights for Benelux. The free TV rights were also picked up by Estonian Public Broadcasting ERR for its channel ETV2. “Mia and me” will be made available for cable and satellite television by Portugal’s Canal Panda with its owner Dreamia taking hold of the pay TV rights, which were also taken by Turner for France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Monaco, Switzerland and French-speaking Africa. For Thailand, TIGA Co. Ltd. has acquired the pay TV rights. 
 
Further agreements were signed with Australia’s Channel 11 on the free TV rights of all three seasons of “Mia and me”, and Globosat has renewed its Pay TV rights on season 1 for Brazil.
 
Season 3 of “Mia and me” has recently premiered on the German kids channel KiKA with strong rating performance, underlining the continued success of the hybrid show which is produced by Hahn & m4e Productions and distributed worldwide by m4e.

Chic Sketch, Getty Images Enter Exclusive Multi-Year Agreement  

Chic Sketch entered a multi-year agreement with Getty Images, where it will be the exclusive media distribution and licensing platform for editorial content. 

Chic Sketch illustrations are available on gettyimages.com and showcase fashion sketches of celebrities, award show red carpets, runway looks, and other pop culture events. The agreement creates a new collection category for Getty Images and will make Chic Sketch content available to millions of customers worldwide.  

The collection includes "social media-ready" sketches hand-illustrated by Chic Sketch's fashion illustrators, and will feature collaborations and content to support both editorial and royalty-free licensing options.

In addition to editorial images available on Getty Images, users can have their own custom fashion sketches created through the Chic Sketch iOS and Android mobile app.

Cartoon Network Launches The Powerpuff Girls Pop-Up Emporium in the UK

Cartoon Network EMEA have launched The Powerpuff Girls Emporium in London’s Soho district. The three-day immersive experience running from Thursday 1st June – Saturday 3rd June was unveiled by singer and presenter, Alesha Dixon before officially opening its doors today. 

With The Powerpuff Girls currently airing on Cartoon Network, the licensor has designed the pop-up as a celebration of girls all over the world. As part of the experience, both kids and adults will be invited to learn how to become a superhero in Powerpuff Girl style with a range of ‘super cute, super fierce’ themed activities. The Emporium will feature a make-up and nail bar complete with its own punchbag, a ‘Powerpuff Yourself’ area for guests to customise their own tote bags, a colouring wall, snake and rabbit petting, in addition to a power science laboratory. 

TF1 Becomes Licensing Agent for Monchhichi

With no fewer than 100 million plush toys sold around the world, the Monchhichi are back! Soon they will star as the utterly endearing heroes of their own 3D animated series produced by Technicolor Animation, scheduled for delivery to TFOU before the end of 2017.
 
The brand, created in Japan in 1974 by Sekiguchi, now has a strong, active community on the social networks, particularly on Facebook.
 
Through the commitment of TF1 Licences and Technicolor Animation, the famous toy that has captivated several generations celebrates a return to the small screen and to store shelves, with an expanded selection of spin-off products featuring both the character’s original styling and the animated version.
 
For the TV series, the first contract was awarded to the international Silverlit group. “We are particularly proud and pleased to be a master toy licensing partner for Monchhichi! We have all the ingredients to make this property a tremendous success in France in the short and medium term: an iconic character with a longstanding, solid reputation, top-quality production and incredible TV exposure” said Guillaume Coulaud, Marketing Director for Silverlit France.

Studio Press Announces Partnership with Beano Studios to Publish Program of Jackie Titles

Studio Press, an imprint of Kings Road Publishing, today announces a partnership with Beano Studios to publish a range of titles based on Jackie, the iconic magazine and ultimate companion to being a teenage girl in the 1970s and 80s.
 
In a deal brokered by David Riley of David Riley Consulting Limited, the partnership will see Kings Road Publishing’s dedicated trends imprint and Beano Studios work together to create books with the universally loved DC Thomson brand.
 
Jackie was the first of its kind when it launched in 1964, a weekly British magazine for teen girls; it ran for 29 years until 1993.  Jackie had a passionate following right from the start, with astounding circulation figures. TOMY Announces Partnership with Esdevium Games for Lightseekers

Sony Establishes Chinese Licensing Division

Sony Pictures Entertainment’s consumer products division has established a new licensing arm in Shanghai, China, to further support its ongoing global re-orientation and bolster its presence in international territories.
 
The new division will be led by Sabrina Gu, who has taken on the position of director of consumer products, China. In her new role, Gu will work to expand Sony Pictures’ licensing opportunities in the region and lead relationships with business partners in the territory.
 
Previously, Gu held a variety of positions with companies such as Disney, Mattel Asia Pacific and Nike, and was at the forefront of the emergence of the licensing business in China.

Barajoun Entertainment Appoints Copyright Licensing Agency as Global Representative

Barajoun Entertainment has appointed Copyright Licensing Agency to serve as the exclusive global licensing agent for the upcoming animated film, Bilal: A New Breed of Hero, which made its debut on the big screen across the MENA region in September 2016. The film has been released in Turkey on 26 May and is set to launch globally in Fall 2017.

Bilal, a 7-year-old boy, finds himself with his sister under the tyranny of slavery. He bears many burdens of life in his childhood from which he discovers inner strength he did not know he possessed before. Bilal knew from the bottom of his heart that he must be brave enough to raise his voice and choose his own path, and that everything is possible with determination. His courage was able to undo his handcuffs and set him free.

Under the terms of the agreement, Copyright Licensing will now work to optimize the management of the licensing program and secure a number of worldwide agents and licensing partners to create an array of products. The licensing program will encompasses the film and spans multiple categories including toys, collectibles, apparel, accessories, novelties, stationery, publishing, promotions, digital, interactive games and live events.

Motörhead Rocks Out with Their Own Video Game

I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
