  SMC Expands Program for H2O: Just Add Water

SMC Entertainment Group Inc. (SMC) has expanded the licensing program for H2O: Just Add Water, a TV series that airs on Teen Nick. The series is now available as a DVD at all major retailers and digital content providers by Cinedigm.

SMC recently signed new U.S. licensees for the brand, including Goodie Two Sleeves for T-shirts, beach bags, and pillows; California Costume Collection Inc. for children's Halloween costumes and wigs in the U.S. and Canada; and Zazzle for a variety of customizable products including hoodies, T-shirts, skateboards, posters, mugs, and postage stamps for the U.S. and Canada.

Targeting girls ages 6 to 12, H2O: Just Add Water is a live-action TV series about three teenage girls facing typical teen problems every day, but with an added twist: the girls are mermaids with incredible water powers. The consumer products program is currently licensed in more than 140 international territories with plans to continue to expand into new markets.

  Versace 19•69 Appoints P&L for Latam

Italian luxury clothing and accessories brand Versace 19•69 Abbigliamento Sportivo has appointed P&L Global Network as agents for Mexico, Central and South America.

  The Trash Pack Launches at LaRonde

Moose Toys' Canadian distributor Imports Dragon has announced the opening of The Trash Pack Play House at LaRonde, a Six Flags amusement park located in Montreal, Canada. The playhouse will remain on-site for two years. Inside the playhouse, children can play games to win various Trash Pack collectible figurines, vehicles, and other related products. The can also meet The Trash Pack's mascot characters, who will be available for fan interactions.

LaRonde is Eastern Canada's largest amusement park. The facility, which opened as part of Expo '67, offers more than 40 rides and attractions, including the Goliath, one of North America's highest and fastest roller coasters, and Le Pays de Ribambelle, an enchanting family area. More than 25,000 guests enjoy the park daily, accumulating to more than a million guests each year.

  Rubie's Pet Shop Boutique Offers Pet Costumes and Accessories

Rubie's Pet Shop Boutique, a division of Rubie's Costume Co. Inc., will offer a new line of costumes and accessories for pets. Designed for the fashion-forward pet, the collection features hundreds of non–licensed and licensed costumes, including Star Wars, Batman, Superman, Hello Kitty, Ghostbusters, Elvis, and Wizard of Oz. The selection of products also extends beyond Halloween to other special occasions, such as Easter, Independence Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Christmas. In addition, the line of accessories includes wigs, hats, tutus, bandanas, wings, and hair bows.

From princesses and pirates to hot dogs and tacos, each Rubie's costume is carefully constructed for a comfortable fit and is available in a variety of sizes ranging from small to XXL.

  Imira Announces Iberian Deals

Imira Entertainment has signed a host of deals in Ibera.

Canal Panda has picked up The Lost Treasure of Fiji from Shiff Productions and ZDF Enterprises; Mimi and Mr. Bobo from Imira; and the futuristic Skyland from Millimages for the Spanish market.

These titles join Sunwoo Entertainment's Mix Master Final Force and Australian tween drama Dance Academy from Werner Film & ZDF Enterprises for Portuguese Pay TV, also sold to Canal Panda. The broadcaster has taken this second helping of Imira content after picking up an initial seven series in Spring 2012.

TV Andorra is also taking a range of titles for the region – Lucky Fred from Imira, Lazy Lucy and Pablo, The Little Red Fox both from Millimages are all now available via Free TV in Andorra.

Lucky Fred and Sandra, The Fairytale Detective have also just been selected in the Comkids — Prix Jeunesse Iberoamericano 2013 in Brazil. They join a shortlist of 86 productions, and represent 2 of the 4 Spanish entrants that have made it to this level.

  TCG Partners with Entertainment One For Peppa Pig Products

TCG has entered into a licensing partnership with Entertainment One to manufacture, distribute, and market a new line of puzzles and activities featuring Peppa Pig in North America. The line is expected to launch at mass market, toy, drug, and online retailers in August. The new product line, targeting preschoolers, will include three 24–piece jigsaw puzzles, three 48–piece jigsaw puzzles, and Magnetic Creations.

The animated series follows the adventures of Peppa Pig, who lives with her brother George, Mummy Pig, and Daddy Pig, and airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S.

  Richard Haines Promoted to New Role at Penguin

Richard Haines has been promoted at Penguin to Acquisitions and New Business Manager.

Richard has been responsible for growing Penguin's publishing portfolio, as well as developing upcoming brands.

MD of Penguin's Children's, Francesca Dow, comments: "Penguin Children's has genuinely broken new ground with our acquisitions strategy, partnering with some of the most exciting global brands to publish books and products of the highest quality.   Lawless Appointed for The Hero of Color City

Lawless Entertainment has been appointed as worldwide—with the exception of the U.S. and Canada—representatives for licensing and merchandising for The Hero of Color City, a feature film targeting boys and girls ages 3 to 6.

The Hero of Color City is a tale chronicling the adventures of a diverse band of crayons as they strive to protect not only their magical multihued homeland, but also the imagination of children everywhere from a terrifying monster. Each crayon has a distinct, vibrant, and fun personality that complements their color: Blue is cool as ice, hip, and exciting; Red is passionate, adventurous, and full of life and joy; Black is comically morose and philosophical; Yellow is timid and fearful. Each night the crayons assemble in their crayon box, which is really a magical portal that transports them to their home, Color City, a world of dazzling color, soaring fantasy, and whimsy of childhood. The land is fed by an enchanted rainbow that provides the city and the crayons with color.

The feature film was produced by Exodus Film Group, which will be handling licensing and merchandising in the U.S. and Canada, and will be released next year by Magnolia Pictures.

  Fremantle and KarmYog Partner for Indian Idol Academy

FremantleMedia and KarmYog Education Network have announced a partnership for Indian Idol Academy, a performing arts academy for young learners. The immersive learning course is designed to draw on the assets of Indian Idol, and the methods of the show's masters and past alumni along with experts, celebrities and educators to prepare and develop aspiring singers for their futures in the performing arts. The first Indian Idol Academy centers will launch in September 2013, as a part of a nationwide plan for centers in multiple cities across India including Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai. Indian Idol Academy will look to use content, effective technology and engaging activities to offer multi–dimensional learning experiences that improve the course participants' overall star quality.

  Firefly Partners with Moonscoop on Key Titles

Firefly Brand Management licensing agency has partnered with U.S.–based Moonscoop LLC to spearhead licensing efforts for two key brands in the U.S. market. The properties include the international animated children's series, Chloe's Closet, and the soon-to-debut series, Sabrina, Secrets of a Teenage Witch. Moonscoop LLC is a developer, producer, distributor, and creator of kids' content.

Chloe's Closet airs in more than 100 countries, including PBS Kids Sprout in the U.S. and Cartoonito and Channel 5 Milkshake! in the UK. Chloe, a 4–year–old girl, embarks on magical adventures in her closet with her friends and toys during dress–up time. The licensing program will target girls ages 3 to 5.

Sabrina Secrets of a Teenage Witch will make its debut on The Hub this fall with all new CGI animation. Sabrina holds a long legacy and remains one of the most iconic franchises in the Archie Comics library. Half witch and all superhero, Sabrina uses her magic to save the world from supernatural creatures and catastrophes. Sabrina will have a robust merchandising and retail support program, including apparel and toys.

  Rolling Stones Vodka to Hit Shelves

The Rolling Stones have partnered with Universal Music Canada and Crystal Head for a limited edition Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary gift set, in a deal brokered by Bravado.

The set will include a bottle of Crystal Head vodka, a crystal bottle decanter top engraved with The Rolling Stones lips–and–tongue logo, and a CD compilation of the band live.

"The Rolling Stones and Crystal Head Vodka are two iconic brands and we're thrilled to be partnering with both in this, the Stones' 50th year," commented Randy Lennox, Universal Music Canada President & CEO. "The Stones are the greatest rock 'n' roll band of all-time and Crystal Head Vodka a leader in the spirit world with the synergies between the two brands endless. We are excited to be working alongside Dan and his creative teams to bring this wonderful partnership to the fans."

  TVMania UK Links Up with The LEGO Group

TVMania UK—the British arm of pan–European apparel company TVMania–has signed a three-year deal to produce clothing based on the Lego brand, the world's No.1 building block toy.

TVMania will produce an apparel range featuring popular Lego lines, such as Lego Friends, Lego Legends of Chima, Lego City, Lego Duplo, Lego Classic, and Lego Minifigure. TVMania UK will target a range of different retailers as the first phase of the apparel program is launched.

  It'Sugar Signs Four New Partnerships

It'Sugar has partnered with new brands to create new licensed candy lines. Currently working with Nerds, Hello Kitty, and Peeps, It'Sugar will continue to sign new deals with brand owners and branch out to more diverse and exciting brands.

New partnerships include Guinness World Records, for a line of gummies based on real records, such as Longest Tongue, Farthest Eye Pop, Longest Duration Living with Scorpions, Longest Fingernails, Longest Time Holding a Tarantula in Mouth, and Longest Moustache.

This summer, America's First Sweetheart Marilyn Monroe will get even sweeter with a glamorous candy line. Inspired by Marilyn herself, the collection will feature chocolate bars and gummies, as well as items such as tote bags, mugs, wallets, and shot glasses.

It'Sugar has partnered with Sony Pictures to introduce a line of chocolate bars in support of The Smurfs 2, hitting theaters in July. Launching this summer, the premium milk chocolate bars will feature images of the Smurf characters. The company has also partnered with Seventeen magazine for a candy line targeting teenage girls. The spirited collection will include BFF chocolate.

  LIMA Licensing Course and Spring Fling Draws the Crowds

LIMA's Licensing Essentials Course and Spring Fling event attracted over 100 industry executives and retailers last week.

The course saw attendees given latest information on digital media, tablets, and licensing product to retail, followed by a debate at the end of the day.

Kelvyn Gardner, MD of LIMA UK commented: "This is, without a doubt, the best one-day educational event in licensing for the UK, and anyone who wants to be a success in licensing needs to attend. It is an excellent way also of making new contacts. We were excited to see so many new faces at the event this year, proving that licensing is gaining ground in many different sectors."

  Consumer Strategies Represents Food-ology

Licensing firm Consumer Strategies Inc. has signed behavioral food expert Juliet A. Boghossian, creator and founder of Food-ology: You Are How You Eat, to its client roster and will seek endorsement, content, and merchandise partners in categories such as food, spokesperson, media, publishing, games and apps, social expressions, home storage, and travel.

Based on food psychology, Food–ology links food habits to personality traits and behavioral tendencies revealing why we do the things we do. Boghossian analyzes our relationship with food—how one cooks, cleans, organizes, shops for food, orders food, eats, or is influenced by other people—all representing a mirror image of who we are; our character, motivations, reasoning, strengths, weaknesses, and fears.

Food–ology joins Consumer Strategies' extensive list of world-renowned health, fitness, and food brands that includes celebrity chef Susan Feniger, Contessa Premium Foods, The Biggest Loser, and Kathy Smith.

  Thomas and Friends Heads back to Milkshake with New Narrator

As well as new stories and characters on its return to Channel 5's Milkshake in June, Thomas and Friends sees a new narrator in the shape of Mark Morghan. His TV history includes Peak Practice, Heartbeast, and Brookside.

Series 17 of the show will introduce characters Millie, Connor and Caitlin.

Michael Carrington, Head of Content and Production at Hit Entertainment, said: "We aredelighted to welcome Mark Moraghan to Thomas and Friends. The voices of the series are lost as iconic as the little engine himself and Mark's lyrical, understated storytelling complements the on–screen action beautifully."

  Viacom Announces New Nickelodeon Programming Appointments

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc., has appointed Layla Lewis as vice president, content acquisitions for Nickelodeon. The company has also promoted Shannon Friedrichs Higdon to the position of vice president, content and brand management for Nickelodeon International. Lewis will oversee global acquisition strategies and day–to–day acquisition management for Nickelodeon's global network of channels, and Friedrichs Higdon will manage the development and execution of Nickelodeon's international programming strategy. Both are based in New York and report directly to Jules Borkent, senior vice president, global acquisitions and international programming for Nickelodeon, VIMN.

Lewis will be responsible for negotiating, sourcing, and managing content acquisitions for Nickelodeon channels globally. She will also supervise all content acquisition proposals and will be integral in the greenlighting process of new Nickelodeon programming and partnership content. In addition, she will work closely with the company's programming heads in international markets to coordinate and develop pan-regional deals for more than 70 of Nickelodeon's locally programmed channels around the globe.

Friedrichs Higdon will continue to oversee the rollout of content across Nickelodeon's international channels and the creation of centralized programming events and stunts to ensure Nickelodeon programming around the world is globally aligned.

  Pedigree Books Adds Woman's Weekly to Yearbooks

Supported by retailers including WH Smiths and Sainsbury's, IPC Media's Woman's Weekly will see two yearbooks published with Pedigree Books.

The two yearbooks, 'Woman's Weekly Seasonal Recipes' and 'Woman's Weekly 2014 Yearbook' will be released in time for this year's Christmas shopping period.

Last year Pedigree Books published yearbooks for pulications National Geographic and Autocar.

  Masha and the Bear Lights up Nutella

Animaccord Animation Studios and Ferrero Group Ukraine have released a promotional campaign for a line of Nutella jars with Masha, which will debut in September in Ukraine. Masha and the Bear is the sole locally licensed brand which is chosen by Ferrero to launch their products, such as Kinder Surprise, Kinder Pingui, Kinder Milk Slice and others with Masha on them.

To date, thousands of participants have taken part in the promotion across Russia and Ukraine. With 33 episodes developed, and a plan to produce 52 by 2014, Masha and the Bear is en route to becoming international, with worldwide interest backed up by a list of broadcasting, DVD, and other media agreements with strong international partners.

The worldwide licensing program, excluding the US, is handled through Ink Brands, while recently established Animaccord USA Co will be acting as the property's representative across the United States.

Animaccord will launch the Masha and The Bear international licensing program at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas on Booth #R171.
