Pepsi Unveils Global Fashion Capsule Collection

PepsiPepsi has unveiled its inaugural Live for Now Capsule Collection. Designed to enliven the brand’s football campaign this year, the Pepsi Live For Now collection features streetwear, accessories, and electronics created in partnership with international designers, including Original Penguin by Munsingwear, B&O PLAY, Gents, Goodlife, Del Toro, and SHUT. The collection will be available internationally at retailers including Bloomingdale’s in the U.S., Colette in Paris, and Liberty in London.

The collection brings artwork from six street artists worldwide—the UK’s professional doodle bomber Hattie Stewart; Argentinean urban artist Jaz; Brazilian illustrator and street artist Ricardo AKN; Spanish-based visual artist Zosen; Merijn Hos, visual artist from the Netherlands; and Argentinean street artist Ever—to life beyond the canvas.

The Pepsi Live for Now Capsule Collection features a range of products across categories including fashion apparel and accessories, electronics, and skateboards. The line consists of men’s T-shirts, zip jackets, and swim trunks from Original Penguin, headphones from Bang & Olufsen’s B&O Play line, baseball caps from Gents, luxury T-shirt jerseys and sweatshirts from Goodlife, handmade leather chukka sneakers and slippers from Del Toro, and skateboards from SHUT—with all items displaying one of the artists’ inspired designs.

The Pepsi Live for Now Capsule Collection debuted at Bloomingdale’s New York City flagship and 15 stores across the U.S., as well as at participating designers’ storefronts and online e-commerce. Additionally, Colette will carry the full collection, and Liberty will feature the Original Penguin items.

Lawless Entertainment Named North American Licensing Agent for Geronimo Stilton 

Geronimo StiltonLawless Entertainment has been appointed as the exclusive North American licensing agent for Atlantyca Entertainment’s kids’ book series Geronimo Stilton.

Lawless and Atlantyca will exhibit together at this year’s Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas. Lawless will work with Atlantyca to produce a range of licensed products, including toys, games, arts and crafts, apparel, costumes, homewares, stationery, and novelty items. Atlantyca Entertainment maintains and manages the intellectual property rights for the Geronimo Stilton brand and all of its franchises.

PMI Announces New License for Goodnight Moon Baby Gifts and Décor

Goodnight MoonGoodnight Moon has inspired a collection of gifts and nursery décor by Precious Moments Inc. (PMI). PMI, owner and licensor of Sam Butcher’s Precious Moments artwork, will add licensed lines that complement the Precious Moments mission and offer PMI retailer customers a single source for top brands. In addition to Goodnight Moon and Precious Moments, branded lines include the Disney Showcase Collection, Dora the Explorer, Hello Kitty, Elvis, BaZooples, Ne’Qwa Art, and Pipka Art & Tradition.
The inaugural Goodnight Moon line includes decorative pillows, bookends, a clock, photo frames, a rocking musical, wall plaques, a cloth growth chart, and a musical water globe.
The little mouse is a delightful feature of the book illustrations, and appears on each spread. For decades, readers have searched for the mouse in the book. Each piece of Goodnight Moon product features a little mouse for customers to find.
Goodnight Moon products will begin shipping to retailers beginning September 15. Goodnight Moon is licensed by HarperCollins Children’s Books, a division of HarperCollins.

Big Red Soda, Transformers: Age of Extinction Partner for Limited-Edition Cans

Big Red SodaTransformers fans can bring home some of their favorite characters from Transformers: Age of Extinction in the form of Big Red soda. The limited-edition cans, which hit store shelves on May 19, are available in six themes, including characters such as Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Fans can also choose between the Autobot and Decepticon series of cans. 
Additionally, fans can win Transformers products with Big Red’s $25,000 sweepstakes. Big Red will give out prizes such as collectible figures, Hasbro toys inspired by the movie, apparel, DVDs, posters, and a cooler that transforms into a picnic table, totaling more than 900 products.
The Michael Bay film opens in theaters on June 27.

Arsenal Football Club, Puma Confirm Extensive New Licensing Rights

ArsenalArsenal Football Club and Puma have confirmed details of the extensive licensing rights that form part of the agreement that will see the sports brand become the new official kit partner of the Gunners for this season and next season. The partnership between Arsenal and Puma becomes effective on July 1.
Puma has acquired licensing rights to develop, distribute, and market Arsenal-branded merchandise on a global basis through its affiliated companies Brandon, Cobra Puma Golf, Wheat, and Dobotex. The Puma Group companies will produce a range of merchandise, including apparel, sporting goods, back-to-school items, gifts, and souvenirs for the Gunners. Puma will also produce the playing and training kits for all Arsenal teams.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 40th Anniversary Merchandise Arrives in Stores

Texas Chainsaw MassacreFollowing the screening of the restored The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at this past April’s South By Southwest festival and its equally acclaimed screening at this month’s Cannes Film Festival, Tobe Hooper’s horror masterpiece will return to movie theaters this summer, commemorating the 40th anniversary of its 1974 release.
Originally marketed with the now famous tagline “Who will survive and what will be left of them,” The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was just the beginning of what has become one of the most successful horror franchises in movie history. Licensees NECA, Impact Merchandising, NMR Aquarius, Rubie’s, Funko, Fright Rags, Grey Matter Art, Plastic Head, and Star Cutouts will introduce a wide array of new merchandise worldwide as part of the celebration.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to Realign Operations, Appoints Executive Vice President

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) will realign strategic management to better position the company for growth. The changes are designed to manage a digital transition and increase global revenue. As part of the management realignment, current president of WBIE has named David Haddad to the newly created role of executive vice president, Publishing Operations.
Haddad will drive all revenue activities across WBIE’s live and console game businesses in addition to supporting a digital transition. Worldwide sales and distribution for console and digital games, digital publishing, live publishing, and business intelligence will report to him.
Haddad brought more than 25 years of online entertainment and games experience when he joined the company a year ago under the position of senior vice president, Digital Publishing. He previously served leadership roles at Activision/Blizzard, Vivendi Games, Liveplanet, Etoys, Mattel, and The Walt Disney Co.

Licensing University Shines Spotlight on Effective Marketing and Branding Techniques

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) will present a range of seminars as part of its Licensing University program at Licensing Expo this year to help attendees equip themselves with the knowledge they need to win with shoppers every day. These sessions are among the 26 business-boosting offerings that will be presented during the licensing industry’s largest annual event of the year. Licensing University will take place from June 16 to June 19, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The sessions begin on June 17.

Ink Reveals Simba Dickie as Master Toy Licensee for Masha and the Bear

Masha and the BearSimba Dickie has become the master toy licensee for the Russian animation Masha and the Bear. The deal covers Eastern Europe, GAS, Iberia, the Nordics, Benelux, France, Italy, and the UK.  
Simba Dickie will develop a line including plush, construction, wooden toys, summer toys, wheeled toys, and arts and crafts. They are set to launch during the first quarter of next year.

FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment Restructures Consumer Products 

FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment has restructured its consumer products division. The new structure creates four key regions—UK, EMEA, Australia, the Americas, and Asia. Each territory head is responsibile for managing local agents and licensees in their markets, allowing them to have a closer focus and to create territory-specific strategies to grow FremantleMedia’s global footprint.
As a result of the restructure, the central post of global head of licensing has been closed, and Carl Lumbard will leave the business. Additionally, as part of the new structure, Tessa Moore becomes senior vice president, global brand management while Caroline High has been promoted to senior licensing manager in the UK.

Chewits Licensing Program Expands

ChewitsCloetta has announced RTC Direct as the newest licensee to join the licensing programme for sweets brand Chewits, in an agreement developed by the brand’s exclusive licensing agency Beanstalk.
RTC Direct will develop candles, air fresheners and air diffusers that capture the distinct scent of Chewits’ signature flavours such as strawberry and “xtreme” sour apple. The launch collection will be available at UK retail for autumn 2014.
Lisa Reiner, Managing Director of Beanstalk Europe and Asia Pacific, says, “We are delighted to welcome RTC Direct to the Chewits licensing programme. 2014 is an exciting year for the brand as the début extensions in gift, publishing and home fragrance roll-out at retail creating new ways for Chewits fans to enjoy their favourite confectionery brand. Rovio Entertainment Strengthens Its Consumer Products Licensing Team

Rovio Entertainment has announced that it is reinforcing its Consumer Products Licensing unit with professionals.
Naz Cuevas has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Products Licensing. “Naz Cuevas joined Rovio in 2012 and has done an outstanding job of focusing and developing our consumer licensing products line. She has lead innovation through the integration of the digital and physical worlds and most importantly ensured that our products continue to offer enormous delight to our fans,” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “I’m also very proud to announce that Naz’s team has been reinforced and that we are strengthening our support to developing territories.”
Randi Spieker has joined as VP of Licensing and Retail for North America; and Paul Bufton will shortly join the flock as VP of Licensing and Retail for EMEA. Paul is arriving from Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK.

Goosebumps Arrives on iTunes

The Goosebumps television series from Scholastic Media, has arrived on iTunes in Canada, the UK and Australia for the first time.
“We’re very excited to make our iconic Goosebumps television series available to an even broader base of fans throughout Canada, the UK and Australia on iTunes,” said Deborah Forte, executive producer of the show and president of Scholastic Media, the entertainment and media division of Scholastic Inc. “With all 74 episodes now ready for download, kids and families around the globe can experience the rollercoaster ride of Goosebumps anywhere, any time.” 

Character World Signs Global Deal with Belle & Boo

Belle & BooBelle & Boo, has struck a deal with licensing business Character World for a collection of licensed bedroom textiles.
Manchester-based Character World will produce an anti-allergy duvet set and a shaped cushion, set to be rolled out later in 2014 in John Lewis and a number of other national and independent retailers. The business plans to introduce further additions to the range in 2015.
The contract is part of Character World’s push to introduce a range of high-end collections to its existing offering in order to meet demand and expand its customer base further. This drive will be accelerated in the second half of the year when a number of high-end collections will be introduced to the market.

Doctor Who Titans Figures Released

Doctor WhoTitan Merchandise has unveiled figures from the upcoming Doctor Who Regeneration Collection Titans.
This set features every numbered Doctor, including the 12th Doctor, as they look in their first (and in one case last) appearances. Also included in the set is The Doctor’s Wife River Song – "Hello Sweetie!"
Each figure is three-inch blind-boxed and some figures come with a character-specific accessory. There are also four hidden characters to hunt. 


Saban Brands Israel, DreamWorks Animation Partner for Licensing and Merchandising

Dragon 2Saban Brands Israel (SBI) has been appointed as the consumer products licensing agent for DreamWorks Animation in Israel. The agreement comes as DreamWorks Animation continues to increase its brand presence both in Israel and with fans worldwide. SBI represents upcoming DreamWorks Animation feature film and TV properties in the areas of merchandise, retail, and publishing. These properties include the theatrical release of How to Train Your Dragon 2 this Summer, the ongoing TV series Penguins of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Dragons: Riders of Berk, and DreamWorks Animation’s franchise properties of Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, and Puss in Boots.


Mauricio de Sousa Productions to Participate in the Licensing Expo 2014

Mauricio de SousaMauricio de Sousa Productions (MSP), from Brazil, has announced it will attend and exhibit at the Licensing Expo 2014 that will be held in Las Vegas, on June 17-19.  MSP looks to continue the internationalization of its properties.
At the company’s second time attending the Licensing Expo, it will show the entire contents and trademarks of Monica as well as the families of characters such as Monica and Friends, Monica Teen, Chucky Billy, Monica´s Baby and Monica Toy, which is the newest release of the company.

Burka Avenger Wins Peabody Award

Burka AvengerPakistani musician Haroon, picked up the George Foster Peabody Award in New York for the TV series Burka Avenger on behalf of Unicorn Black. 
Burka Avenger is Pakistan’s first ever full length 3D animated series and was produced by Haroon’s production company, Unicorn Black in Islamabad, Pakistan. This is the first time a Pakistani production has won this award. The series was first aired on Geo Tez on July 28th 2013.
The Peabody Awards recognizes excellence in the electronic media. About 30–40 winners are selected annually from over a 1,000 entries worldwide. Other winners this year include Breaking Bad by AMC/Sony Pictures TV and House of Cards by Netflix.
