  Moose Toys Debuts The Zelfs At Licensing Expo

Moose Toys will debut its proprietary girl brand, The Zelfs, at Licensing Expo. The Zelfs line will roll out this fall with small, medium, and large dolls featuring 12 characters and play sets. Each character is identified by its "spiketacular" hair and special power represented by a Zelfmark. Each Zelf comes with hair accessories including extensions, clips, and brushes, which can be worn by the Zelf or kids themselves. Chaser Zelfs will also be included in the program.

The launch of the program will be supported by a marketing campaign, including TV advertising, a dedicated website, social media, webisodes, live events, and public relations outreach. The Zelfs licensing program will be represented by The Licensing Shop Inc. at Licensing Expo.

  Kabillion, Saban Partner to Launch Vortexx VOD Channel

Kabillion has partnered with Saban Brands to launch a Vortexx Video On Demand (VOD) Channel on Kabillion. Vortexx provides boys action and entertainment programming and currently airs Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on The CW broadcast network. The international series Power Rangers and the Japanese anime series Sonic X will both debut in June on Kabillion's Vortexx VOD Channel. In July, Kabillion will also add Dragon Ball Z Kai to the network.

A network and multi-media marketing platform with more than 6 million views a month, Kabillion is the only independently owned, Top 10-ranked kids' free VOD TV Network.   Discovery Expands Its Digital Offerings

Discovery Enterprises International (DEI) has announced a strategic focus on male consumers and the rise of digital to drive the growth of its publishing category. The last two years have seen DEI increase its footprint in the children's market with the launch of dedicated magazines and multi-format book ranges for the Animal Planet and Explore Your World brands. The licensor is currently working with its partners, who are committed Discovery viewers, to utilize digital technologies and to develop high-quality publishing products for men ages 18 to 49.

Miles Kelly Publishing has released a collection of eBooks and multi-touch iBooks to bolster its range of Discovery Channel annuals. DEI's Discovery Channel Magazine has now launched in Benelux, Singapore, and Taiwan and has recently earned two awards from the Society of Publishers in Asia.

  Rubie's Appoints Stephen Stanley as Managing Director of Licensing

Rubie's Costume Co. has appointed Stephen Stanley as the company's new managing director of licensing and business development. Stanley comes to Rubie's with more than 20 years of experience in the licensing industry, most recently as the senior vice president of global licensing at Jakks Pacific. He has also previously served as co-president of Disguise Inc. Having started his career with Hasbro, Stanley has an extensive knowledge of and commitment to brand management in both the Halloween and toy industries.

In this newly created position, Stanley joins Rubie's in the Melville, NY facility and will report directly to Executive Vice President Howard Beige. Overseeing projects for this year and beyond, Stanley will play a critical role in the development and growth of the company's exclusively licensed product lines.

  Sesame Workshop Partners for Global Packaging Refresh

Sesame Workshop has collaborated with Parham Santana to refresh its licensed consumer products packaging worldwide. Parham Santana has based the new packaging on the instant, emotional connections consumers have to the Sesame Street characters. This idea has guided the development of new unified packaging designs that make Sesame Street characters the stars at every brand touch point.

Every package across every product category now features large furry photos of Sesame Street faces to greet consumers. These new packages also gain white space by moving educational and developmental cues to an area on the back.

Parham Santana has delivered comprehensive packaging guidelines for all Sesame Street products including toys, health and beauty aids, apparel, and DVDs. The new packaging is beginning to roll out with the licensed toys from Hasbro. The rest of Sesame Street's licensed products will follow.

  BBC Signs New Partners for Something Special

BBC Worldwide has announced new publishing, seasonal confectionery, and electronic learning aid partners for Something Special, the CBeebies program featuring presenter Justin Fletcher.

Following the launch of products from master toy licensee Golden Bear last fall, BBC Worldwide has now confirmed new ranges to hit stores beginning in August.

  Get Set Games to Launch Mega Jump App-Licensing Program

Get Set Games Inc. will debut its proprietary Mega Jump and Mega Run brands along with the star character Redford at Licensing Expo. Within two years these games hit 50 million downloads and were No. 1 on game app charts in more than 30 countries. A global phenomenon, these games are most popularly played in the U.S., Germany, China, France, Canada, the UK, South Korea, and Australia.

The Mega games tell the story of protagonist Redford, a small red monster with huge shiny eyes and a toothy grin, who spends his time trying to save his brother and sister from his nasty King Uncle and make his way back to his home planet. He has become the breakout star among the other characters found within the Mega games.

  Endemol Furthers Israel Reach

Endemol and Kupermann, Israel's independent production company, has entered a new partnership. The deal sees Endemol establishing an operational base in the Israeli market by acquiring a majority stake in Kuperman, which becomes Endemol Israel.

Through the newly launched operation, Endemol plans to invest in creativity and format development across all genres in Israel for both the local and international markets. Endemol Israel will also produce Endemol's international formats for the Israeli market.

  SoBe Enters Licensed Food Category with Frozen Flavored Bars

The Joester Loria Group, exclusive licensing agent for PepsiCo North America, has secured a new food extension deal for SoBe Lifewater & Elixirs. In partnership with Philly Swirl, SoBe flavored frozen bars will hit shelves this summer in U.S. grocery and mass chains.

The SoBe bars will come in assorted, exotic flavors, including top-selling SoBe Lifewater flavors Yumberry Pomegranate and Pacific Coconut. SoBe will also bring new flavor blends with nutritional benefits to the frozen category. The bars will contain vitamins and herb extracts, including vitamins C, E, and B; ginger; and dandelion.

  Sooty to Design Own Fashion Collection

Sooty will collaborate with design and manufacturing company Basic Thinking Ltd. for a new clothing collection set to hit major retailers early next year. Basic Thinking Ltd. has signed a deal to design and produce lines for adults and children for major outlets such as Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury, BHS, and Matalan.

  Excel Branding Seeks Licensees for City of Malibu

Excel Branding is seeking both domestic and international licensees for the City of Malibu. Categories include fashion lifestyle apparel, bedding, bath, outdoor, tabletop, toys and games, performance apparel, outdoor products, health and beauty, and more.

  New Europe Market Show Gains Momentum

The media event New Europe Market (NEM), which will take place in Dubrovnik from May 8 to 11, was launched to the press this week.

Sanja Božić-Ljubičić, director of NEM and Mediavision, the company which organizes NEM; Tomislav Pisk, director of Mediavision; and representatives from Eutelsat, Apostolos Triantafyllou and Sabrina Pluvinage took part in the press conference. Božić-Ljubičić commented: "NEM is where media professionals will meet, exchange ideas, learn from each other, gain new experiences, and give and receive knowledge. This region needs an event like NEM. There are so many talented people here that could go unrecognized in larger surroundings, and even the global recession doesn't minimize the great developmental potential that we can offer to big companies. At the same time, there is quite a lot that we can learn. Is there a better way for that than to invite leading world experts in relevant fields to share their knowledge and opinions? We are extremely proud that so many professionals in the relevant areas of media business have accepted our invitation to participate in our discussions.   C3 Partners with Grizzly Adams Productions

C3 Entertainment Inc. has signed a new licensing agreement with Grizzly Adams Productions Inc. (GAP) for exclusive distribution of the GAP media library for worldwide distribution. The extensive library contains general interest feature films, documentaries on a variety of subjects, and inspirational faith-based TV series and films.

The library's TV Specials include Mysteries of the Ancient World, The Incredible Discovery of Noah's Ark, and Ancient Secrets of The Bible (all of which originally aired on CBS); 52-part series Encounters with the Unexplained (aired on PAX cable TV); and original TV movies including Friends for Life and Footprints.

  Details Announced for Mimcomm Christmas Open House

Following last year's first mi-Christmas Open House event in Bayswater, micommsPR has selected a new venue to showcase the newest family products for this year. Brands and businesses attending the event include JCB Kids, Bin Weevils, Floppets, InspirationWorks, Annoying Orange, Cartamundi, Carte Blanche Greetings, and Sega Europe. The event will take place on July 5 and 6.

During the event, members of the media will be invited to Bathurst Street to see the townhouse transformed into a welcoming and warm Christmas-themed home where they will be able to view the very latest products on display in their natural home setting.

On July 5 the Open House will be dedicated to media only. On July 6 it will be opened up to journalists who would like to bring along children, presenting the opportunity for them to get hands-on play and test a selection of toys and products. There will also be entertainment for the kids, including a pick-and-mix bar, face painting, and balloon modeling.

  KIDS and Fashion Delivers to Honor Women in Industry

Kids In Distressed Situations (KIDS) and Fashion Delivers Charitable Foundation, Inc., partner charities that have provided some $1 billion in new product donations to families affected by poverty and natural disasters, will recognize four top leaders from fashion, real estate, entertainment, and philanthropy at the Women In Industry Luncheon (WIIL) taking place June 6 at Cipriani 42nd Street.   YRF to Expand Distribution Worldwide

Yash Raj Films Pvt. Ltd. (YRF), India's leading film studio, has expanded its distribution to service a worldwide market through its offices in the UK, UAE, and the U.S., making its product accessible to a global market. YRF established YRF Licensing as a means of providing a diversified range of merchandise based on the company's catalogue and contemporary library of movie titles. YRF Licensing has licensed its content to a number of India's manufacturers, producing a range of licensed products in various product categories, such as home décor, housewares, apparel, publishing, bags, stationery, and greeting cards.

To expand its licensing efforts into markets outside of India, the company has appointed Danny Simon of The Licensing Group Ltd., a Los Angeles-based company, as its consultant. Simon has headed licensing divisions at several production companies, including Lorimar Productions, Twentieth Century Fox, and Carolco Pictures. He has played a role in launching various licensing programs in the U.S. and around the world for TV show properties, including Dallas, Dynasty, M*A*S*H, and Baywatch. Simon has built licensing programs for films, including Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the series of Rambo films, and Mortal Kombat. Presently, Simon is the CEO and president of The Licensing Group Ltd.

  Studiocanal and Aardman Partner for Shaun Movie

Studiocanal has signed with Aardman Animations to produce the movie debut of Shaun the Sheep. The film will be shot in Aardman's trademark style of stop-motion animation and is written and directed by Richard Starzak and Mark Burton.

  Iberian Licensing Professionals to Gather at the Licensing Forum

The Seventh Licensing Forum will be held on September 12 in Ifema, the Trade Fair Institution of Madrid, after holding its last two shows in Barcelona. The event will be held alongside Intergift—a gift trade event also addressed to licensing professionals that will take place from September 11 to 15 in Ifema.

The Licensing Forum will offer an exhibition area where agents and licensors will introduce their main properties and licensing programs. It will also feature a series of conferences, including not only the exhibitor presentations, but also talks and conferences about ideas and business trends. The organization is also preparing new events and areas, with the goal of providing even more business opportunities to all the industry professionals.

The event is organized by the magazine Licencias Actualidad with the support of the International Licensing Industry Merchandiser's Association (LIMA), and reaches its seventh year, thus confirming its status as a fundamental tool for decision makers and key players in a changing and dynamic business. This magazine is published by Ediciones Just, the official representative of LIMA in Iberia.

  Bulldog Strikes New Digital Deal for Monster Jam

Bulldog Licensing has announced a new partnership between Fantom and Monster Jam for the creation of a new range of digital collectibles featuring the Monster Jam trucks, including Grave Digger, Max-D, and Monster Mutt.

This partnership aims to create a Monster Jam digital sticker album and stickers that fans can use on Facebook and mobiles to collect images of all their favorite Monster Jam trucks and drivers, as well as swapping and trading online with other devotees.

  Coolabi Appoints New Head of Digital

Coolabi has appointed Naomi Dare in a new role as head of digital. Dare will be responsible for developing strategies at Coolabi to increase brand awareness and drive product sales across relevant digital platforms in multiple territories for brands, including Poppy Cat and Purple Ronnie. She will focus on looking at the best use of social media, games, apps, and video.

Dare has more than 13 years of digital experience and joins Coolabi following a career at Hangar Seven (previously Doco London and Digital Outlook), a content, strategy, and marketing agency for blue-chip consumer brands, including Tesco, P&G, and Playhouse Disney (now Disney Junior).

Most recently, Dare developed strategies for NBCUniversal's New Media Division to increase the sale of TV and movies on key digital platforms. She also worked with Walt Disney Studios Movie Productions UK and Europe, Xbox, Miniclip, Comic Relief, and Aardman Animations on a joint venture with Digital Outlook Studios.

  Hit Announces France 5 Fireman Sam Ratings, New Toy Line

Hit Entertainment has announced strong ratings for Fireman Sam on France 5. In addition, a range of toys will launch from toy distributor Silverlit.

Since September, the CGI-animated series has consistently been the second-highest rating children’s show on France 5. Building on the success of the property, Silverlit will begin distributing the toy range from UK and Eire master toy partner Character Options in France this month.

  Off the Leash Harnessing Social Media Power

Off the Leash, Rupert Fawcett's humorous canine cartoon series, is to feature in the UK magazine Dogs Today. A new cartoon will be printed in every edition, which is published on a monthly basis. Dogs Today has been established for 22 years and has a circulation of 40,000.

Off The Leash has seen a strong rise on social media with hundreds of thousands of Facebook fans. The Facebook page was launched in February of last year and fan numbers have grown from 60,000 to more than 135,000 since the beginning of this year.

The brand, managed by Clive Juster & Associates, has recently licensed Customworks for coasters and fridge magnets, with new deals to be announced shortly.

  Playboy, VuQo Partner for Vodka

VuQo Inc., creators of VuQo Vodka, has signed a licensing agreement with Playboy Enterprises to develop a super premium vodka available exclusively across select countries in Asia. Broad Street Licensing Group, Playboy's global licensing agency in spirits, brokered the deal.

Playboy Vodka will be available in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

  Good Portfolio Signs Stephanie Stouffer

The Good Portfolio has signed gift product artist Stephanie Stouffer. Stouffer has a reputation for designs and successful retail sales in the art licensing world.

  Knockout Appoints Licensees for Boo, Downton Abbey

Knockout Licensing has signed five licenses for Boo: The World's Cutest Dog. Additionally, Knockout has signed Bradford Exchange, Danbury Mint, and Kurt Adler as the newest Downton Abbey licensees.

  Avanti Signs LMA to Develop Brand Licensing Program

Avanti Press has appointed licensing agency Lisa Marks Associates to develop its Avanti brand licensing program. A comprehensive line of consumer products is planned, with initial collections targeting multiple categories, including apparel and accessories, gifts and stationery, domestics and home décor, media and publishing, office supplies, pet products, and party goods.

Avanti has delivered an independent greeting card collection to global retailers for more than 30 years. The humor brand is positioned in more than 15,000 stores in North America and thousands more in numerous countries worldwide.

  Suzy's Zoo eBooks Announced

Lawless Entertainment, the worldwide representative for animation, licensing, and merchandising for Suzy's Zoo, has launched Suzy's Zoo's eBooks into the online marketplace. iStoryTime released the collection of Suzy's Zoo eBooks, which includes the titles Witzy's Friends Forever, Witzy's Sweet Tooth, and Witzy's Bedtime. The eBooks are now available at Barnes and Noble for Nook and the App Store.

Recent deals for Suzy's Zoo include partnerships with Pioneer Balloons for latex, foil, bubble, and punchball balloons; Hoffman California Fabrics for 100-percent cotton, screen-printed fabrics; StickerYou for personalized stickers utilizing all three of the Suzy's Zoo character sets for purchase on their website; and much more.

  Pac-Man Gains Italy and Greece Agent

41 Entertainment (41e) has appointed Team Entertainment as its new licensing and merchandising agent for Italy and Greece for the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures TV series, slated to begin broadcast this fall in English-speaking markets and worldwide next spring.

Team Entertainment has already secured Italian Brands for apparel and is speaking to many interested parties about additional licensing opportunities.

  Pedigree in Free Mask Announcement for Annuals

Pedigree Books has announced that all of its most popular core annuals will now feature a new added value innovation—a free mask inside every annual for 2014.

Pedigree holds licenses for brands such as Star Wars, Barbie, Family Guy, and Shoot. All of Pedigree's biggest-selling core annuals will feature the masks, including established titles and new brands for this year such as Smash Hits, Tatty Teddy, Turbo, and The Smurfs 2.

  Caldarelli Signs Johnny Romeo

Australian pop painter Johnny Romeo has signed with European company Caldarelli Licensing Agency (CLA). Romeo travelled to Milan last week for a media launch for this new partnership.

Johnny Romeo's partnership with Caldarelli Licensing Agency will see the company manage the Johnny Romeo brand and image in Europe, introducing the artist to a new audience. CLA will support and connect Romeo with licensee companies hoping to collaborate with the artist.

  CPLG Wins Kazachok Awards

CPLG won three awards during French licensing show Kazachok during the awards ceremony held by the French Licensing Federation.

CPLG won best sports licensing program for the French Football Federation (FFF), best art and design program for Space Invaders, and best innovative product licensed product in France for Meccano: the Lapins Cretins.

  Artida Signs with Jantar Projekt

Slovenian brand Artida has signed a licensing agreement with Jantar Projekt to represent the brand in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Baltic States territory (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania).

  Animaccord to Launch Masha and the Bear at Licensing Expo

Animaccord Animation Studios, producer and owner of animated brand Masha and the Bear, has announced that the company will exhibit at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. This marks the first time that a Russian company has exhibited at the Expo. Animaccord will launch the Masha and the Bear international licensing program at the expo.

Masha and the Bear, targeted toward children ages 3 to 9, was launched in 2009 and today is among the top three preschool brands in Central and Eastern Europe. The animated series was created in the U.S. and, to date, the series has been dubbed into English and Spanish.

To date, the Masha and the Bear licensing program has more than 100 licensees covering more than 50 product groups. The worldwide licensing program, excluding the U.S., is handled through Ink Brands, while recently established Animaccord USA Co. will be acting as the property's representative across the U.S.
