eOne’s Peppa Pig Theater Debut a Success in the UK and Australia

Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience: Peppa’s Australian Holiday marked the theatrical debut for Peppa Pig in Australia, where the release hit 241 screens across the country and debuted at no. 6 in the overall box office chart. Since it opened last month, the release has earned box office receipts of AUS $2.16 million.
The Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience also premiered on April 7 in the UK screening in more than 500 cinemas nationwide. It has generated box office sales of just over £3 million since opening and ranking in the overall top 5 box office releases in the UD during its opening week.
In both countries, the release was supported by marketing and PR campaigns including a celebrity pink carpet premiere and partnerships with Tourism Australia and Australian airline Qantas, which hosted costume character meet and greets at Sydney and Melbourne airports. In the UK, brand partners included Visit London and Northern Rail. In addition, retail activity during opening weekend included a London-themed tea party at Foyles bookshop and costume character appearances at Bluewater and Gunwharf Quays shopping centers.
Licensees including Ty, Penguin, Trademark, Underground Toys, Redan, and Portmeirion produced licensed merchandise that tied in with the theatrical release in the UK. In Australia, a product range that features toys, books, and apparel launched exclusively at Big W in Australia and included in-store with cross category POS (point of sale), video screens, radio, and digital marketing.
Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience offers fans nine new Peppa Pig episodes connected with interactive entertainment, featuring live action Peppa and George characters and their friend Daisy singing and dancing along to favorite nursery rhymes.

MGA Entertainment Unwraps Global Licensing Program for L.O.L. Surprise! Line 

MGA Entertainment Inc. (MGAE) will unwrap details for the new global licensing program for the L.O.L. Surprise! doll line at this year’s Licensing Expo. The line of licensed toys is slated to hit retail next year.
MGAE’s licensing program will feature a comprehensive traditional and digital marketing strategy including advertising, public relations, and influencer campaigns, national promotional partnerships, and retail promotions.
The L.O.L. Surprise! line combine dolls with fashionable accessories and the excitement of surprise. Expected to reach retail next year, the global licensing campaign will consist of four phases: the first phase will target apparel, sleepwear, and accessories; the second phase will focus on health and beauty, gift and novelty, stationery and party goods, and crafts and activities; the third phase will cover publishing, back-to-school, game and electronics, and home décor; and the fourth phase will include food and beverage, seasonal, and sporting goods.

ZenWorks and Brandog appointed as Japan Sales Agent for Victoria and Albert Museum Licensing

V&A Enterprises Limited has appointed Japan licensing specialists, ZenWorks Co., Ltd. and Brandog Co., Ltd, as its exclusive sales agents to develop new licensing opportunities for the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in Japan. ZenWorks and Brandog will showcase the world's leading museum of art, design and performance to potential licensees at the upcoming Licensing Expo Japan in Tokyo (26 to 28 April) at ZenWork’s booth C-40.
The V&A has had a long and active presence in Japan.  As well as touring exhibitions such as the recent David Bowie is exhibition in Tokyo, the V&A also has a long-established and successful licensing programme in Japan that includes licensees Arakawa (nightwear and lingerie), East (museum retail and exhibition ranges), Itochu (LeSportsac bags), Kuwayama (jewellery), Nikko (ceramics), Romance Kosugi (Bed linens), Salonge (aprons and home textiles) and Sony Music Communications (David Bowie is exhibition goods).

Genius Brands Appoints Broadcast Partner for Rainbow Rangers Preschool Series

Genius Brands International Inc. licensed exclusive broadcast rights for season one of Rainbow Rangers to Nickelodeon in the U.S. and the Caribbean. Currently in development, the mission-based action-adventure series is expected to air on Nickelodeon’s preschool channel, Nick Jr. The deal follows the recent announcement of Fisher-Price as global master toy partner for the brand.
The new animated series has received interest from broadcast and licensing partners since its debut at MIPJunior in Cannes last year. Fisher-Price will lead the licensing and merchandising program with a broad range of preschool products in the toy category. Genius Brands is developing its global merchandising, licensing, and retail program across all key categories to coincide with the series launch.

ProSiebenSat.1 Licensing Adds Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends to Its Portfolio

ProSiebenSat.1 Licensing has added another internationally successful licensed show for the core target group of children aged 8 to 12 - Rainbow’s new series “Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends”. The license agreement between the ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s licensing company and Rainbow S.r.L covers the German-speaking region.
Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends is a live action drama/comedy that has been broadcast daily on Rai Gulp, an Italian TV channel for children, since August 29, 2016. The second season has been broadcast since January, with excellent ratings and up to 305,000 viewers. In Germany, broadcasting will start on the Disney Channel in June 2017. Two seasons with 26 30-minute episodes each are already available and the third season is currently in production. Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends also has its own YouTube channel and Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts, whilst the German website will launch shortly before the show’s TV debut.

Shout! Factory, UYoung Enter Series Distribution Deal for Home Entertainment

Shout! Factory and UYoung partnered to bring preschool series P. King Duckling to the home entertainment marketplace in North America. This multi-year alliance provides Shout! Factory with exclusive home-entertainment distribution rights (DVD and EST) in the U.S. and Canada for all 26 half-hour episodes of the first season of P. King Duckling.
Shout! Factory will plan a strategic rollout of the series beginning in September through Shout’s kids and family imprint, Shout! Factory Kids. Broadcasted in the U.S. on Disney Junior, the new preschool comedy series has a learning-focused curriculum that centers on overcoming challenges and inspiring creative thinking.
The deal was negotiated by Vanessa Flanders for Shout! Factory, and Elie Dekel of Dekel Brands for UYoung.

JRL Group Inc. Secures First Billy Goat Tavern Licensee

JRL Group Inc. signed Devanco Foods as the first licensing partner for the Billy Goat Tavern brand. Devanco Foods developed a line of frozen burgers including the Curse Breaker and the Billy Goat. This new line of Billy Goat burgers is now available at Jewel-Osco grocery stores.
Additionally, JRL Group will bring the Billy Goat brand experience to other food products and categories, including beverages, housewares, publishing, gifts, apparel, and accessories.

CPLG Brings Peanuts to Zara

Peanuts fashion and accessories collection for kids and women is available to buy at Zara stores worldwide, in a deal brokered by CPLG’S Spanish office on behalf of Peanuts Worldwide LLC.

The 10-piece collection for girls aged 4 to 14 years includes denim dungarees, t-shirts, a dress and sweatshirt, as well as plimsols, a backpack, and an on-trend khaki parka all featuring the iconic Snoopy and Woodstock characters.

Blue Apron, MasterChef Junior Partner for Mystery Box Challenge

Blue Apron partnered with MasterChef Junior to develop a Mystery Box Challenge that aired last week on FOX. 
During the episode, each young cook opened his or her Mystery Box to reveal a Blue Apron Family Plan box with a choice of two proteins and an assortment of farm-sourced winter vegetables. Contestants were given 45 minutes to curate a dinner recipe that the whole family could enjoy using the Blue Apron ingredients and items from the MasterChef Junior pantry.
The winner, Justise from Sugar Hill, Georgia, received a competitive advantage in the next cooking challenge and will have her winning recipe featured on an upcoming Blue Apron Family Plan menu. All eight contestants also received one year of Blue Apron meals.

The Toy Association Launches Major Rebrand

The Toy Association, formerly known as the Toy Industry Association, launched a major rebrand with a new mission statement and new name.
The organization’s new tagline, “Inspiring Generations of Play,” and its new mission statement to be “a unifying force for members’ creativity, responsibility, and global success, advocating for their needs and championing the benefits of play,” underscores more than 100 years of the Association’s service.

The Toy Association ended 2016 with 1,098 member companies that design, produce, license, and deliver toys and youth entertainment products for kids of all ages. The organization’s member-focused programs, products, trade shows, and consumer events promote international business growth for all members.

The Association has also expanded its core services and embarked on new ventures, including Play Fair, a large-scale kid and family business-to-consumer event and, a business-to-business digital marketplace for toy retailers and suppliers.

The North American International Toy Fair continues to sell out space and has attendees from more than 100 countries, while Fall Toy Preview remains committed to serving the long-lead planning needs of mass and high-volume specialty retailers. Diagonal View to Manage AGE’s Buddy Thunderstruck YouTube Channel

American Greetings Entertainment (AGE) partnered with Diagonal View, a leading producer of social content owned by Sky UK Limited, to manage the Buddy Thunderstruck YouTube channel.
Buddy Thunderstruck premiered last month as a Netflix Original Series, and features stop-motion animation from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. The official YouTube channel will showcase compilations of quotable clips from the show, such as fan-favorites “Fart Nugget!” and “Blame it on the Thunder!,” as well as original music videos, including “So Pumped” and “Super Cute Boy.” The channel launched following the Netflix premiere, and features highlights from the 12-episode first season.
The content will be produced by Diagonal View in partnership with kids’ entertainment specialist CAKE through their joint venture Popcorn Digital. The YouTube channel will grow the digital brand presence of the show, offering audiences access to new and exclusive content.

Media I.M. Appoints Evolution as Brand Manager for Sunny Bunnies in the U.S.

Media I.M. Inc. Ltd appointed Evolution to represent the North American licensing, merchandising, and promotions rights for its Belarus-originated animated series Sunny Bunnies. The series has also been licensed to key broadcasters globally.
Disney Junior and Disney Channel have both licensed the Sunny Bunnies series in the U.S., and the first season of Sunny Bunnies has already launched on both channels in the U.S. and other regions around the world.
Through the agreement, Evolution will expand the content into a range of licensed products for kids, including apparel, accessories, publishing, toys, plush, home, stationery, food, and health and beauty. The agency will also handle promotions and marketing alliances in region. Sunny Bunnies will premiere at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas from May 23 to 25.

Licensing University 2017 to Tackle Topics for Success in the Ever-Changing Marketplace

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) assembled Licensing University sessions on topics to help licensing professionals capitalize on today’s newest business prospects.

In the Night Garden Teams up with Royal Horticultural Society to Celebrate Ten Years of Magical Journeys

Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy from hit CBeebies show In the Night Garden will be picking up their trowels and slipping on their gardening gloves this summer for a host of green-fingered activity at Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) gardens, to mark the 10th anniversary of the brand.

IM Global Television Partners with MarVista Entertainment for Series Re-Invention of King Kong

Cooper's King Kong, King Kong Skull Island is a comprehensive King Kong Universe exclusively endorsed by Kong's creator.  The series is a serialized, contemporary continuation of the classic with a female-led, multi-cultural ensemble that delves fully into the wonders and horrors of Skull Island and its origins. Bright is a leading illustration agency, providing creative content for clients across Licensing and Publishing. In this role it is important to understand the needs of each agent and their creative division, supporting the London & New York offices and working with the part time US designer to coordinate design consistency and efficiency. Crayola Is Seeking an Experienced Manager, Outbound Licensing. Located at Crayola Corporate HQ, Easton, PA

The ideal candidate will possess experience within either Toy AND/OR Publishing licensing experience.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Creates strategic direction for active licensee base and negotiates new partnerships within assigned categories to achieve growth objectives.   Directs tactical execution of licensed product lines from concept/line plan through commercialization.  


  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments
    • Set trend direction and make recommendations for new product entry
    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions
    • Ensure adherence to internal approval process (i.e. safety, quality, financial, legal, content, creative, consumer activation, consumer affairs etc.) and assist in resolving issues.
  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies
    • Research, secure and develop new licensees building upon the success of existing segments in order to achieve predictable, profitable and sustainable growth
    • Negotiate deal terms including: grant of rights, royalty rates, guarantees, projections and business plans
  • 7 years’ experience in licensing or consumer marketing work for a CPG company.
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred

I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
