Musical.ly, Brand Central, Tween Team Partner for Back-to-School Line

Musical.ly, Brand Central LLC, and Tween Team Inc. partnered to develop a range of back-to-school products. The line will consist of notebooks, folders, binders, pencils, pencil cases, stickers, tattoos, DIY bracelets, locker accessories, and additional back-to-school gear. Products will ship this spring and will launch in stores this summer.

The Smiley Company Returns to Kazachok

Smiley returns to Kazachok Licensing Forum this week, with the brand continuing to enjoy amazing growth and unprecedented success in France, its number one global territory. 
 
With 197 licensees selling across 13 categories the business enjoyed 25% growth in revenue between 2014 and 2016. This growth is spearheaded by its French owners, Franklin and Nicolas Loufrani, who continue to be the most high profile and successful figures in France’s licensing business today.

Planeta Junior Attends Kazachok Licensing Forum with Three Properties for Young Audiences

Planeta Junior will play an active part at the Kazachok Licensing Forum in Paris. The company is attending with three properties that connect with the youngest members of the family: Magiki, Wissper and Care Bears.
 
Care Bears is an iconic, multi-generational brand that appeals to children, teens and adults. These sweet, loveable and huggable bears radiate love and caring, spreading happiness and joy daily. Care Bears’ new CGI series follows the adventure of these enchanting bears in the land of Care-a-lot where they live now with their Cousins: Brave Heart Lion, Bright Heart Raccoon, Lotsa Heart Elephant and Cozy Heart Penguin.
 
The new series has been broadcasted in Tiji since 2016 and available on Netflix worldwide since 2015. The licensing programme in France now includes Citel for the DVD, MLP for apparel, CCI and Adventure Diffusion for shoes, Alcara for gift and Cijep for childcare. Vivid is the master toy partner for the property.

Marvel Announces #GrootDancebomb Challenge

Marvel announced the global #GrootDancebomb challenge leading up to premier of Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 on May 5. Working with the Disney Conservation Fund to support forest restoration through The Nature Conservancy, the challenge blends the element of surprise and dance during Earth Month.
 
Marvel gave YouTube personality Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval a first look at the new Groot dancing toy line, and challenged him to create a Groot-inspired dance move, marking the first #GrootDancebomb. D-trix choreographed the “Groot move” and brought it to the streets of Los Angeles. Watch the results here.
  
From April 18 to May 5, fans can like or share D-trix’s video on YouTube or Facebook, or post their own #GrootDancebomb. Marvel and the Disney Conservation Fund will direct a $1 donation to The Nature Conservancy to plant one tree for each action, for a minimum donation of $50,000 and a maximum of $250,000.
  
Fans watching Marvel’s #GrootDancebomb video will also get to see D-trix’s signature dance style with Groot toy cameos from Funko, Jakks Pacific, Hasbro, and KIDdesigns. Along with other Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 merchandise, these Groot products are available now at major retailers and Disney Store and DisneyStore.com.

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products Announces Strategic Licensing Partnership with Hedrave Holdings Ltd

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) today announced a new strategic licensing partnership with Hedrave Holdings Limited for a line of high-end audio products and mobile phone accessories featuring characters and properties from Viacom International Media Networks portfolio of brands. The five-year audio and consumer technology licensing agreement, which covers all countries and territories outside of the US, will begin launching products in Europe and Asia later in 2017.
 
A strategic partner across all of NVCP’s portfolio, initial Hedrave products brought to market will feature current Nickelodeon preschool hits PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines and Shimmer and Shine, with additional audio products and mobile accessories featuring social influencer and teen sensation JoJo Siwa, animated classics SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, branding from MTV and more also in production. Licensed NVCP Hedrave products will include audio products such as headphones and speakers for kids and adults, wearables, tablet and smartphone covers, mobile powerbanks and more.

Discovery Consumer Products, Academy Sports + Outdoors Debut New Outdoor Line

Discovery Consumer Products partnered with Academy Sports + Outdoors to debut new Discovery Adventures items for outdoor travelers. The new lifestyle brand offers a full range of products, experiences, and services for travelers. Available exclusively at Academy Sports + Outdoors stores and on Academy.com, the initial line includes outdoor tents and sleeping bags for kids and adults.
 
The new collection is accompanied by a new Discovery Adventures mobile app, which launched last month. Maurizio Distefano Eyes Extensive Italian Licensing Campaign for Hamsta World

Maurizio Distefano and Happy Ink have reached a new agreement for the licensing management in Italy of the popular international brand, Hamsta World.
 
Starring Cosmo Polly, Mila Sunrise, Mimo Jito, Larry Macchiato, Bob Soda, Cotton Kelly, Cheesy Jake and Blue Barry, Hamsta World introduces a family of plucky hamsters, blending an international mood with an Asian flavour.
 
The story began with Saskia Keiser, a young Dutch art director who, when she decided to expand the family, ended up adopting a cute hamster. It wasn’t long before Saskia noticed just how much happiness her new friend had brought to the whole family, falling in love with the hamster’s cute and curious little nose and his funny way of moving.

Nelvana, Discovery Kids Extend Broadcast for The ZhuZhus in Latin America and the Caribbean

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana partnered with Discovery Kids to bring 26 episodes of its animated series The ZhuZhus throughout Latin America and the Caribbean beginning in May. In addition, Nelvana has completed a broadcast extension deal with Discovery Kids for Backyardigans, ensuring the series’ 80 episodes remain on-air in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  
The ZhuZhus is based on the ZhuZhu pets toy line from Cepia LLC. Under the new agreement, The ZhuZhus will be available for viewers in Argentina; Belize; Bolivia, Brazil; Chile; Colombia; Costa Rica; Ecuador; El Salvador; Falkland Islands; French Guiana; Guatemala; Guyana; Honduras; Mexico; Nicaragua; Panama; Paraguay; Peru; Suriname; Uruguay; and Venezuela.

JELC Appoints Julie Michell as Director and Business Partner

Jane Evans, founder and MD of global licensing company JELC, has announced the appointment of Julie Michell as director and business partner.
 
Julie will bring to the role more than two decades of industry and commercial experience across many areas of licensing and branding, most recently for greeting cards giant Hallmark.
 
Julie worked for Hallmark for over 10 years, initially heading up the commercial side of Hallmark’s UK licensing-out business, and more recently as Senior Licensing Manager (International). Before this she held senior positions for a number of major names including Carte Blanche Greetings, Nici and Vivendi. She brings over 25 years’ in sales and marketing, as well as a wealth of experience as both a licensor and licensee, to her new post.

Delta Children Signs Licensing Agreements with Warner Bros. and Entertainment One

Delta Children, a leading manufacturer of furniture for babies and children, today announced it recently signed its first licensing agreements with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Entertainment One. The partnerships will bring popular television show characters to new lines of toddler and juvenile furniture launching as soon as this year.
 
Through the deal with Entertainment One, a leading international entertainment company, Delta Children became an official licensee of pre-school phenomena “PJ Masks” and “Peppa Pig”. Kids’ furniture lines for both brands will launch later in 2017 and include beds, upholstered chairs, table and chair sets, as well as toy storage.
 
Delta Children also became an official licensee of the popular Warner Bros. superhero brands Batman, Wonder Woman, Justice League and DC Superhero Girls. Juvenile lines for each license are currently in the early concept stages.

Bulldog Picks Up Plethora of New Partners for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

ZAG continues to increase its reach of licensees for its critically-acclaimed, hit, comedy-action animated TV series, Miraculous™: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. With representative Bulldog Licensing signing deals with Gosh! Designs at PMS International (stationery, pocket money toys and creative play), IglooBooks (book publishing), Kokomo (dental and gift sets) and Roy Lowe (socks). 
 
Miraculous has been attracting legions of fans through an action-packed story that centres on Marinette and Adrien - who have been given the ability to transform into superheroes, Ladybug & Cat Noir. As the chosen ones, they must work together to protect Paris from the evil doings of Hawk Moth and his newly transformed “friendly” villains found in each episode.

  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments

    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions

  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies

Provide sales updates and sell through information to the licensors on a monthly/weekly basis.  Mentor and manage coordinators, providing industry and business guidance.
 
Work Environment: This is a very fast-paced, team-orientated business casual environment.

I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
 
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
