  4Licensing Launches Rocket Monkeys Licensing Program

4Licensing Corporation, the worldwide licensing agent for the Rocket Monkeys property, has launched a licensing program for the new animated action comedy series Rocket Monkeys. Rocket Monkeys is currently being broadcast on Nickelodeon networks on a global basis and on Teletoon in Canada. Through an agreement with Breakthrough Entertainment, 4Licensing Corporation (4LC) is managing the marketing, promotion, and licensing initiatives of this quirky animated children's series.

Rocket Monkeys launched on Nickelodeon earlier this month and introduces the universe to brothers Gus and Wally, two hapless "Monkeynauts" who cause more intergalactic calamity than they could ever prevent as they pursue important missions. 4LC's comprehensive licensing and marketing program will capitalize on the Rocket Monkeys characters and will focus initially on the toys, apparel, games, and trend products categories.

  Gwyneth Paltrow Announced as Licensing Expo Keynote Speaker

Gwyneth Paltrow is to deliver the keynote address at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, on June 18 at 11:30 a.m. As an actress, writer, and entrepreneur, Paltrow also founded, a digital media company and lifestyle resource. She is also co-owner of the Tracy Anderson brand.

Her presentation, titled "Brands on the Brink of Global Expansion" will discuss her strategy for global expansion. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with her business partner, fitness expert Tracy Anderson. Entry is free for all attendees.

  ASPCA to Launch Toy Line with Commonwealth Toy & Novelty

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has entered into an agreement with Commonwealth Toy & Novelty Co. Inc. to develop a line of plush toys and accessories. The line will replicate the experience of adopting a shelter pet, bringing the ASPCA's mission to a new generation of animal advocates. The line is set to launch by the end of the year.

Commonwealth Toy & Novelty Co. Inc. joins a robust roster of ASPCA licensees including Firestar Diamond Inc., American Greetings Corporation, Eyewear Inventions LLC, European Home Design Inc., and Williams-Sonoma Inc.'s PBTeen and West Elm brands.

  DHX Signs Deals for SheZow

DHX Media has signed deals for its new series SheZow with Lagardère Active TV Channel Division and Switchover Media, which recently became part of Discovery Group in Italy.

Lagardère Active TV Channel Division has secured the broadcast rights to season one of SheZow for France with broadcast planned this fall on CANAL J, a channel aimed at kids ages 6 to 12. Switchover Media’s kids' channel Frisbee in Italy will also feature the superhero after signing a five-year deal with DHX Media.

  Ekocycle Scores New Partnerships to Celebrate NBA Green Initiatives

Ekocycle, a brand initiative developed by global music artist and producer and The Coca-Cola Company, is introducing new apparel and lifestyle products. The expansion of the Ekocycle product line coincides with NBA Green Week presented by Sprint. This effort is focused on reducing the league's ecological impact and helping educate basketball fans worldwide about the importance of environmental protection.

A full line of apparel and lifestyle items promoting environmental responsibility are among the latest offerings from Ekocycle, including adidas with a limited-edition T-shirt featuring a custom Ekocycle Glyph pattern along with the adidas stripe logo and the official NBA logo. Levi's has a limited-edition Levi's 501 Waste<Less jean made with an average of eight recycled assorted plastic bottles per pair of jeans. Through Ekocycle, Beats by Dr. Dre's Ekocycle Studio headphone delivers exceptional sound and a full 31 percent of the product is made using materials that would have otherwise been wasted, including three assorted recycled PET plastic bottles. The headphones also offer an online digital user manual rather than including paper materials in the packaging. New Era, RVCA, and MCM will also have Ekocycle products.

  Peppa Pig to Air on Discovery Kids in Latin America

Entertainment One Family (eOne Family) has announced that Discovery Kids has acquired the broadcast rights for Latin America for Peppa Pig. The pre-school series from animation studio Astley Baker Davies will launch in the territory this year on Discovery Kids.

Peppa Pig will be shown three times daily in half-hour blocks on Discovery Kids, and the channel is supporting the broadcast launch with public relations and marketing to help build awareness and drive viewership. Peppa will also be included in the extensive promotional activity planned for the re-launch of Discovery Kids.

  New Europe Market (NEM) Event Announced in Croatia

NEM (New Europe Market) is a new media event that will be held May 8 to 11 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The four-day event includes a content market and expert panels, which are divided by topic into three groups: Public Relations and Marketing, Distribution, and Ad Sales. The speakers at NEM's discussion will be leading experts who will share their experience, opinions, and views. For more information about the show, visit:

  J2 Licensing Signed for Kellogg's Co-branded NCAA Apparel

The Joester Loria Group has brokered a deal for its client, Kellogg's, with J2 Licensing to develop a co-branded apparel collection utilizing Kellogg's popular characters, such as Tony the Tiger and Toucan Sam, in combination with the marks of top national schools. J2 Licensing is a Michigan-based apparel company that specializes in collegiate merchandise with rights to many major NCAA colleges and universities. The collection will include T-shirts and fleece for young men, juniors, girls, and boys. Products will be distributed to college and university bookstores, specialty stores, and sporting good stores beginning in the fall.

  Ed Medica Appointed at Banter

Banter Toys and Collectibles has appointed Ed Medica as general manager of its toy division. Banter Toys is expanding into the collectible toys market and in recent months acquired distribution of brands such as Adventure Time and Regular Show toys.

Ed Medica's background includes working with leading toy distributors Hunter Products, Mattel, and Funtastic, as well as extensive experience in the licensing industry.

  Kidz Bop Partners with Church & Dwight for Musical Toothbrushes

Kidz Bop has partnered with Church & Dwight Co. Inc., the maker of Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes to expand the Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes Jr.-branded products family. Three new Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes Jr. toothbrushes featuring a Kidz Bop song are now available, including "We Found Love," "Party in the USA," and "Good Feeling" performed by the Kidz Bop Kids.

Similar to the Tooth Tunes toothbrushes that launched in July 2012 for tweens, each Kidz Bop Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes Jr. toothbrush features two minutes of music to encourage longer brushing and ensure that kids achieve the dentist-recommended amount of brushing time.

Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes Jr. Music in Your Mouth technology streams sound vibrations from the bristles of the toothbrush through the teeth, allowing kids to hear music while they brush. This patented technology delivers sound by broadcasting music into the jaw, which is then transmitted through the inner ear, allowing the person brushing their teeth to hear the music.

  Accessories 4 Technology to Produce Plants vs. Zombies Line

Bulldog Licensing has announced that Accessories 4 Technology (A4T) has signed a deal to use digital brand Plants vs. Zombies (PvZ) on a new range of peripherals. The new deal will see A4T produce tablet and smartphone peripherals, game peripherals, speakers, and headphones that all feature the distinctive PvZ characters. Bulldog Licensing is building a comprehensive licensing program across Europe that includes plush and figures from Jazwares, adult apparel and accessories from Bioworld, and posters from GB eye. A host of additional categories are expected to launch this year, including apparel, publishing, housewares, and collectibles as retailers push for more opportunities.

The zombie-zapping game is available across a variety of platforms and has been downloaded more than 120 million times worldwide. With a fan base spanning all ages, PvZ is now establishing licensing partnerships across multiple categories and regions. A sequel is due for release later this year.

  Bates Motel Licensing Program Launches

Joy Tashjian Marketing Group (JTMG) has officially launched the licensing program for A&E's newest primetime series Bates Motel.

Inspired by the novel Psycho by Robert Bloch and Alfred Hitchcock's film of the same name, Bates Motel premiered on A&E March 18 to an audience of 3 million viewers. Produced by Universal Television and set prior to the events portrayed in the classic Hitchcock film, the series depicts the life of Norman Bates and his mother Norma, who purchases a motel located in the coastal town of White Pine Bay after her husband dies so she and Norman can start a new life.

JTMG begins with an expansive licensing program covering all major consumer product categories, including gaming, interactive, apparel, publishing, paper products, neon signs/novelty items, and bath and shower curtains.

  Moose Enterprise Appoints Saban Brands Israel as Licensing Agent for The Trash Pack

Saban Brands Israel has been appointed by Moose Enterprise International as the licensing agent for The Trash Pack in Israel. This summer will include the roll out of the licensing program with many new partners on board in many categories, including publishing, BTS, apparel, and home textiles.

  Sega Appoints mi-comms PR

Sega Europe has appointed broadcast, licensing and entertainment public relations agency mi-commsPR to roll out a trade and consumer PR program around licensed products bearing its gaming character, Sonic the Hedgehog.

With a dedicated licensing team headed up by Sissel Henno, head of brand licensing (Europe) in place, Sega has extensive plans in the world of licensing.

mi-commsPR will implement a rolling trade and consumer PR program, securing Sonic's share of voice in the appropriate media and further raising awareness of the brand and product ranges available. A key focus will be PR support at industry trade shows, such as Kazachok in Paris, Las Vegas Licensing Expo, and London's Brand Licensing Europe, as well as a dedicated consumer press event to take place in May for both journalists and their children.

  AG Properties Launches Strawberry Shortcake Program in Italy

Strawberry Shortcake continues to flourish in Europe as AG Properties (AGP), the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation, announced several new licensing deals for the brand in Italy. The new deals, which include novelty books, candy, and arts and crafts products, were secured by AG Properties' international licensing agent Copyright Promotions Licensing Group.

Items will be introduced at retail this spring. Edizioni Play Press will introduce magic albums, activity books, and coloring books at mass retailers, while RCS Libri SPA is planning a line of novelty, picture, story, and activity books for sale at specialty stores. In addition, Multiprint has secured the Strawberry Shortcake license for an assortment of stationery and arts and crafts items under the brand Uva Fragola. These items will be available at gift, stationery and specialty stores.

  Wallace and Gromit Recruited as National Tourism Trailblazers

VisitEngland, the national tourist board, has recruited Wallace and Gromit as Tourism Trailblazers to inspire Britons to take a holiday at home this year. The £4m integrated campaign, led by VisitEngland and supported by the home nation tourist boards of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland will see Wallace and Gromit take to the road exploring the country and discovering the best of the UK (including some top spots for elite cheese tasting). The government-funded campaign, "Great Adventure," aims to inspire Britons to book a holiday through their local travel agent. VisitEngland is working with a number of high-street travel agents and operators across the country that will be putting together exciting British holiday packages for Wallace and Gromit and the rest of their customers.

This campaign forms the second part of Holidays at Home are Great, a pan-UK government funded strategy that launched last year. Designed to boost domestic tourism, the campaign aims to raise £80m in additional tourism spending and more than a million overnight stays. The first campaign—launched last year—generated £300m in additional tourism spending.

  New Licensees for Lillipippins

JELC, the global licensing agent for the design brand Lillipippins, has announced two new greetings cards licensees for the property based on representations of tiny woodland and wild animals.

Simson Cards in Australia and Portfolio in the UK will each launch ranges of greeting cards in their respective territories this May. The initial Simson range will be made up of 36 designs and there will be 24 cards in the Portfolio range.

The Portfolio range will launch in mid-May at Progressive Greetings Live 2013, the annual international greetings card show at London's Business Design Centre. The cards will appear at retail in specialty card shops, gift shops, and major stores beginning in June. The Simson range, which was licensed by Australian agent Blue Chip Brands, will be at retail throughout Australia and New Zealand in specialty card shops and department stores beginning May 13. An announcement is pending regarding a greeting card license for Germany.

  Uniqlo and Chupa Chups in Fashion Partnership

Uniqlo, the Japanese fashion retailer, has made a worldwide launch of three styles of Chupa Chups T-shirts inspired by iconic artwork of the lollipop brand, which celebrates its 55th anniversary this year.

In the UK, Fluid World, the licensing agent for Chupa Chups in this territory, has partnered with Uniqlo to organize a bank holiday weekend across their 10 UK stores.

  EOne Announces Broadcast Deals

Entertainment One Family (eOne) has announced a number of broadcast deals brokered for its children's properties Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, Rob the Robot, Humf, and Lost and Found.

Broadcast partners CLAN (Spain) and RAI (Italy) for Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom have just acquired the second season following strong ratings for the first series, which debuted in both territories last year.

The second series of Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom has also been picked-up by RTE channel in Ireland, which has renewed its commitment to a number of eOne properties, including preschool series Humf and critically acclaimed animated film Lost and Found, based on the best-selling Oliver Jeffers book.

Furthermore, the company recently struck a deal with ABC Australia to air the second series of the popular children's brand Rob the Robot.

  Smash Hits Books Details Released

Pedigree Books has revealed details of the latest titles based on music brand Smash Hits launching this year.

Following the success of Pedigree's Smash Hits Annuals range in 2012, on February 1 Pedigree published a Sticker & Poster Activity Annual, Smash Hits Presents One Direction Special, available now in a number of major UK retailers. This will be followed by two "special" Smash Hits Christmas Annuals focusing on One Direction and Olly Murs.

  PGS Signs New Deals

PGS Entertainment has completed licensing deals for pay TV rights with Cartoon Network in Latin America, Italy, and Germany.

Cartoon Network Latin America and Cartoon Network Germany have licensed TAT Productions' The Jungle Bunch series, shorts, and movie in their respective territories and Cartoon Network Italy has licensed The Jungle Bunch movie, The Jungle Bunch: Back to the Ice Floe.

  Silvergate and France Télévisions Partner for Peter Rabbit

Silvergate Media has concluded a deal with France Télévisions for the television, home entertainment, licensing, and merchandising rights to its new animated series Peter Rabbit, which has already debuted on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and will soon air on CBeebies in the UK.

Silvergate Media has also appointed Paris-based France Télévisions Distribution as international sales representative for Peter Rabbit and hit pre-school show Octonauts, both produced by Brown Bag Films in Ireland.

The commercial division of the French public TV group will manage sales of the TV rights to both shows for a number of territories worldwide across Europe, Asia, and Africa. CBeebies is the UK broadcaster for both shows and commissioning broadcaster Nickelodeon broadcasts Peter Rabbit in the U.S., while Octonauts airs on Disney Channel in the U.S.

  Oxford Limited Signs with Rule Bikes

Oxford Limited has signed IGS Corp., Ltd. to create an Oxford bicycle range under its Rule Bikes brand. First introduced at Brand Licensing Europe last October by Oxford's agent Performance Brands, the five-year global deal will see Oxford branded bicycles and accessories sold through specialty retailers in store and online.

Rule Bikes Ltd. produces fashion bikes with a number of licenses, including Angry Birds, Star Wars, Moshi Monsters, and Sony.
