Hawaiian Tropic Extends Signature Indulgence with Four New Licensees

Energizer Personal Care has partnered with four licensees to extend the exotic essence of Hawaiian Tropic sun care into a variety of everyday and seasonal product categories that include swimwear, footwear, fragrance, cosmetics, and beach accessories. Licensed products will leverage the fragrances and formulas along with design assets to capture the multi-sensory experience of Hawaiian Tropic.
The four new Hawaiian Tropic licensees include Dreamwave for women’s and juniors’ swimwear, Eastman for summer footwear, Luxe Brands for cosmetics and fragrance, and Morgan Home for beach towels and beach tote bags. Beach accessories and footwear will launch this year, and swimwear, cosmetics, and fragrance next year. The partnerships between Energizer Personal Care and its new licensees were brokered by Brandgenuity.

Marvel, Five Four Club Debut Menswear Collaboration

MarvelFive Four and Marvel Entertainment will launch a series of elevated men’s apparel capsule collections that bring together Marvel’s iconic legacy, superhero characters, and storytelling with fashion-forward innovation. The collections will launch next month.
The debut of the Five Four and Marvel collection draws inspiration from Marvel’s catalog of iconic characters and consists of outerwear, dress shirts, graphic T-shirts, and accessories.

In addition to the capsule, Five Four and Marvel launched an exclusive exhibition pop-up in New York City to celebrate and showcase the collection. All Five Four and Marvel collections will be made available exclusively to new Five Four Club members and will focus on extending the iconic character-based entertainment brand into contemporary fashion.

Tommy Bahama Partners with COOLA Suncare

Tommy BahamaTommy Bahama has signed a licensing agreement for an exclusive Tommy Bahama line of sunscreen products with COOLA Suncare.
The new sunscreen collection is available in a variety of scents and variations and features classic and mineral formulas. Bright packaging reflects the brand’s upbeat mantra, and each product combines a mixture of tropical fragrances with hints of coconut, pineapple, banana, cinnamon, almond, and vanilla.
COOLA’s exclusive Perfect 10 Blend, which is a cocktail of natural ingredients that help minimize the effect of UV radiation and sun exposure on the skin, was used to create each Tommy Bahama product, including sunscreen lotions, sprays, and lip care.
The new Tommy Bahama sunscreen collection will be available at all Tommy Bahama retail locations, prestige beauty boutiques, swimwear boutiques, select department stores, and online merchants.

WWE, Authentic Brands Group Launch New Lifestyle Fitness Brand

WWE and Authentic Brands Group LLC (ABG) have launched a joint venture for Tapout, a newly repositioned fitness lifestyle brand. Tapout is now the official fitness and training partner of WWE, and will be integrated across WWE’s global platforms, including TV programming, WWE Network, pay-per-view broadcasts, live events, and digital and social media.
As part of the partnership, WWE will create new content featuring its Superstars and Divas in Tapout apparel and market the brand across all platforms. Tapout branding will also be featured at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla., and all performers, trainers, and staff will be outfitted in Tapout workout apparel.
The new line of men’s and women’s performance apparel and accessories will launch at retail next spring. New Tapout branding and packaging will roll out in key categories throughout this year, starting with beverages, supplements, and fitness centers.

The Jim Henson Co., Cyber Group Studios Enter Co-Production Collaboration

Enchanted SistersThe Jim Henson Co. and Cyber Group Studios have finalized a first-time agreement to co-finance and co-produce two new children’s series: Jim Henson’s Enchanted Sisters and Cyber Group Studio’s Boubouh! Animation for both series will be produced at Cyber Group Studios, with The Jim Henson Co.’s Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford serving as executive producers.
Jim Henson’s Enchanted Sisters is an animated series for kids ages 5 to 8 with comedy-adventure stories featuring the Sparkles: Spring, Winter, Summer, and Autumn—four sisters who come together every three months to join Mother Nature in a ceremony that changes the seasons in our world.
Cyber Group Studios’ Boubouh! stars a monster who is frightened of kids After coaching from an old teddy bear, Boubouh overcomes his fear and becomes best friends with 6-year-old Lucas.

Intellectual Ventures Signs Shazam for Licensing, IP-for-Defense

Intellectual Ventures (IV) has entered a long-term licensing agreement with Shazam that provides Shazam with a license to IV’s patent portfolio of more than 40,000 intellectual property (IP) assets and access to IV’s IP-for-Defense program, a strategic defense tool for companies.  
Shazam is an app that connects more than 100 million monthly mobile active users around the world with artists, TV shows, ads, cinema, radio, and retail environments through its audio recognition technology. Shazam is one of the most downloaded apps worldwide and is growing by more than 1 million new users each week.
IV provides a variety of solutions for companies looking to develop and enhance their IP strategies. In addition to traditional IP licensing deals, companies can work with IV’s in-house inventors and its network of more than 4,000 inventors around the world to solve technical issues and invent technologies to differentiate their products from the competition.

Nelvana Partners with Julie Andrews, Emma Walton Hamilton for The Very Fairy Princess

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises has partnered with Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton to develop a new animated girls’ preschool TV series based on their book series The Very Fairy Princess.
The Very Fairy Princess franchise, which is part of The Julie Andrews Collection, and published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, first launched in 2010. Illustrated by Christine Davenier, the book series includes eight titles, with a ninth book, The Very Fairy Princess: A Spooky, Sparkly Halloween, due out later this year.
The animated TV series will focus on Geraldine, for whom being a very fairy princess is less about appearances than it is about knowing what makes your heart sing, and having the courage to share that with others. Slated to launch on air next year, the series will be jointly developed with Andrews and Walton Hamilton and produced at Nelvana Studio in Toronto.

LMCA Brokers a Deal Between Westinghouse Electric and Ningbo Jide Electrical Appliance

LMCA has brokered a trademark license agreement between Westinghouse Electric Corp. and Ningbo Jide Electrical Appliance Co. Ltd. of Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province China. The agreement includes the manufacture of Westinghouse-branded home water purification products for sale in China. Products include a variety of water purification products such as whole-house water purification solutions, under-sink water purifier/softener solutions, water dispensers with purification capabilities, water filtration pitchers, water filters, and accessories for home products. The company will be using the Westinghouse brand to establish new channels of distribution, including retail and ecommerce in the Chinese market. 

GBI, Comcast Partner for Kid Genius

Building on the success of its Baby Genius series on Xfinity On Demand, Genius Brands International will partner with Comcast to launch Kid Genius, a new channel on Xfinity On Demand, delivering “Smart TV for Kids” this fall.
The channel will feature GBI original programming, such as Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club and Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab, as well as other shows from program creators around the world. 

YooHoo Heading to the White House

YooHoo and Chewoo of YooHoo & Friends will be participating in the 2015 White House Easter Egg Roll.
On Monday, April 6th, 2015, the First Family will host the 137th annual White House Easter Egg Roll, and more than 35,000 people will gather on the South Lawn to join in the celebrations. The theme for this year’s Easter Egg Roll is “#GimmeFive.”
As part of the fifth anniversary of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative, Mrs. Obama is challenging Americans across the country to #GimmeFive things they are doing to eat better, be more active, and lead a healthier life. Individuals and families can get involved by sharing on social media five things they’re doing to be healthy and passing on the challenge to others with #GimmeFive.  The #GimmeFive challenge has already begun, and it will be a fun and central part of this year’s Easter Egg Roll.
In support of Let’s Move!, the event will feature sports and fitness zones, cooking demonstrations, and Easter classics such as the egg roll and egg hunt, in addition to live music and storytelling.


DC Thomson Outlines International Growth Plans for Children’s Book Publishing Category

DC TomsonDC Thomson has outlined international growth plans for its expanding children’s book publishing category.
In collaboration with Penguin Random House, DC Thomson launched kids’ fiction series The Diaries of Dennis the Menace, which has sold more than 130,000 copies. The range has been extended into a selection of non-fiction titles that have introduced new publishing formats to the program, including The Beano: Official Sticker Book, Where’s Dennis (and Gnasher!) search-and-find book, and The Beano Prankipedia.
Penguin Random House has secured a slate of pan-European deals for The Diaries of Dennis the Menace. Rights for the series have been acquired by 20/20 Editora in Portugal, Artline Studios in Bulgaria, Ulpius-haz Kiado in Hungary, and Slovart in Czech Republic and Slovakia.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment Signs Further Licensing Deals for Thunderbirds

Ahead of the imminent broadcast debut of the boys’ action adventure series Thunderbirds Are Go on 4th April 2015 on ITV, ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) continues to build momentum with a slate of new licensing deals for the UK and Eire across key categories including toys, apparel and accessories, gifting and stationery.
Bolstering the toy category, ITVS GE has signed clothing design and manufacturer Global Solutions for Clothing (GSC) to launch a range of children’s hanging dress-up costumes inspired by the new series.
New sign-ups include Fashion Lab, Xccessories MC, Aykroyd & Sons, Misirli, Alfred Franks & Bartlett, GB Eye, Star Cutouts Limited, Paper Projects Ltd, UP Global Sourcing, World’s Apart Limited, Go Glow Lights, Go Glow Pal, and Thunderbirds Are Go production partner, Weta Workshop, builds the gifting programme for the upcoming series.

Peppa Pig Comes to Leolandia

Peppa PigEntertainment One Licensing (eOne) and Leolandia amusement park were celebrating the launch of The World of Peppa Pig (Il Mondo di Peppa Pig), a themed attraction which opened its doors to the Italian public on March 28th 2015.
Andrew Carley, Head of Global Licensing at Entertainment One said, “The World of Peppa Pig represents a milestone achievement for the brand in Italy and is a clear demonstration of its longevity in the territory. Leolandia have done an incredible job of bringing Peppa’s world to life and we hope it will bring joy to families in Italy for many years to come.“

Acamar Films Signs Key DVD Deal with StudioCanal

Acamar BingAcamar Films’ preschool series Bing is set to significantly expand its UK audience through a DVD deal signed with Studiocanal Ltd, a subsidiary of the CANAL+Group and one of Europe’s leading distribution companies.
Launching this month, the 70’ DVD will feature some of the best-loved episodes from the first series of CBeebies’ hit show: Swing, Bye Bye, Ducks, Growing, Hide & Seek, Lost, Frog, Bake and Atchoo! VooVoo.

London Book Fair to Facilitate Media Matchmaking in First ‘Creative Industries Day’

The London Book Fair (LBF) has announced a series of new partnerships and initiatives designed to open up new rights opportunities at the fair and nurture new conversations and collaborations between publishers and other media professionals.
The first ‘Creative Industries Day’ will take place on Thursday 16 April and sees LBF welcome a host of visitors, speakers and delegations drawn from the worlds of film, interactive, games and app developers, as well as publishers of comics and graphic novels. These creative industries professionals will share their expertise on how intellectual property can be extended into new areas of the media. They will also get the chance to meet their peers in the publishing industry to discuss new and potential opportunities for collaboration at structured networking and matchmaking events throughout the day.

For the second year there will be a brand licensing lounge and exhibiting presence alongside Total Licensing and Guide to Licensing World. LIMA will once again be curating a programme of seminars around the opportunities across brand licensing and publishing.

The National Gallery Co. Ltd. Awards License to SEB UK

National GalleryThe National Gallery Company Ltd has announced SEB UK Limited, designer and patent holder of Ubox art and photographic reproductions, as the latest licensee in the National Gallery programme. SEB will produce a comprehensive range of linen-textured flat-packed box prints of some of the National Gallery’s best-known paintings.
Ubox reproductions are a high-end alternative to traditional box prints and are easy and quick to assemble. They are fade resistant, with a wipe-clean surface, eco-friendly and made in Britain.
The range of 42 reproductions from the National Gallery collection includes:

• Bathers at Asnières by Georges Seurat
• The Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci
• The Fighting Temeraire by JMW Turner
• The Water-Lily Pond by Claude Monet
• Sunflowers and A Wheatfield, with Cypresses by Vincent van Gogh
• Whistlejacket by George Stubbs

The range will launch in the National Gallery shops onsite and online in May 2015.

Brands with Influence Appointed for Nelly and Nora

Nelly & NoraGeronimo, the Dublin based animation studio, has found a unique to
license the weather. Nelly and Nora is a new animation series for pre-schoolers and the first ever to have its storytelling driven totally by the weather. The new series will screen on CBeebies in the UK, RTE in Ireland, and KiKa in Germany across the whole of 2015.
Talking about the new series Gerard, MD at Geronimo explained, ”Nelly and Nora is very personal to me as the inspiration for the two character has come from my own two children and our holiday experiences. The Irish weather has always played a massive part in our lives and activities and seemed like the perfect inspiration for our storytelling. This has further been brought to life by the fabulous team here in Dublin who have created a show that is beautiful, engaging, and based on two wonderful new characters who will capture the hearts of pre-schoolers and parents everywhere.”
Now, on the back of their successful programme sales Geronimo has appointed Brands with Influence (BWI) to manage the Nelly and Nora licensing programme across the world. BWI is confident about the potential for this new series and have announced two foundation deals. Walker Books have licensed global rights for Book Publishing and Immediate Media have licensed the brand for their CBeebies and Toybox magazines.

Rainbow Showcasing Brands in Bologna

RainbowRainbow is appearing at both the Bologna Licensing Fair and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
At the Licensing Fair, Rainbow is showcasing new content for two of its most popular and successful properties, Winx Club series 7 and Mia and me series 2, along with brand new property Royal Academy (working title).
Rainbow’s presence at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, at stand A26 in Hall 26, comes hot on the heels of a string of global publishing successes. In Germany, new publishing partners have come on board for Winx Club, including Schwager & Steinlein and Oetinger, whilst Blue Ocean - established publisher of the bi-monthly Winx Club magazine - has just renewed its agreement for the ninth consecutive year in a row. Also, Edel will be launching audio books based on the Winx Club stories. In Turkey, both the Winx Club and Mia and Me magazines have been snapped up by Panini, whilst Winx Club returns to Benelux as Big Balloon is set to relaunch the comic magazine.
Visitors to the Book Fair will also have the chance to pitch for the publishing rights for Royal Academy (working title) and will also be showcasing a new publishing plan featuring the fashion-oriented ‘Winx Club Fairy Couture’ formats, as well as new titles based on Mia and Me season 2 and on the upcoming Winx Club season 7. 

Character World Strengthens Team

Character WorldCharacter World has appointed Lindsey Bonney as Head of Supply Chain Operations.
The appointment comes after a successful 12 months for the Manchester based business, as it continues its international growth drive.
Lindsey comes to Character World after 14 years as Group Commercial Manager at Caldeira, a manufacturing business within the home fashion and textile industry. At Character World Lindsey is responsible for managing and overseeing the effective end to end supply chain service, including demand management, stock control, and retailer customer service as well as warehousing & onward distribution. Her appointment strengthens Character World’s growing Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) team.

Magic Light Pictures Announces Second Room on the Broom App

Magic Light Pictures has announced the launch of Room on the Broom: Flying, the second interactive games app based on the classic picture book Room on the Broom, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
Specifically designed for 3 – 7 year olds, the new Room on the Broom: Flying app is priced at 79p and is available to download exclusively via the App Store here for iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Pan-European Pokémon Promotion Coming

The Pokémon Company International has announced expansive Pan-European spring retail promotion which will allow Pokémon Trainers across the continent to receive a Pokémon character for their Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games and a free special Pokémon Trading Card Game: XY Primal Clash Collector’s Album from select retailers. The promotion will kick off in the UK on April 3 at GAME and with similar activities planned for retailers in France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Nordic territories.
From April 3—and for a limited-time only—players can receive the hard to find Shiny Charizard for their Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games. Both the redeemable codes for the Pokémon character and the collector’s album will be made available upon request and while stocks last. No purchase is necessary.
In the UK, the promotion will take place across GAME’s network of 320 stores and will be supported by Pokémon themed display sections in all stores, showcasing products across Pokémon video games, Trading Card Game and toys from Tomy. The activity will also be supported by a heavy weight pan-European advertising campaign incorporating cinema, TV and online.
In the UK, this will take the form of a TV campaign showcasing the Pokémon universe, demonstrating how the Pokémon TCG and video game contents are part of the same exciting and immersive world. Promotional spots will air from April 3rd to April 19th on CiTV, Cartoon Network and Disney XD amongst other channels. 

Viz Media Acquires Rights for Yo-Kai Watch

Vix MediaViz Media Europe has acquired European rights for top-rated TV series and merchandising of the hit anime franchise Yo-Kai Watch.
Rights have been acquired for TV, Home Entertainment/VOD, Licensing & Merchandising rights for Europe, Russia and Africa.
With an imaginative plot, great characters and hilarious comedy, Yo-Kai Watch has become one of the most popular franchises of all time in Japan, in just 2 years.

Atlantyca Signs with Nintendo

Atlantyca Entertainment has signed a licensing agreement with Nintendo to provide young users with a variety of themes for Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and 2DS system, featuring the Geronimo Stilton Classic “Geronimo Stilton” the animated series 1 and 2.  The deal, which includes Australia and New Zealand, will start in April in all Europe and go through 2020.
Images, unique icons and backgrounds will be incorporated within a range of personalized themes that will be purchasable for Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and 2DS system owners.
Nintendo 3DS themes add an extra level of personalization to a user’s Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS or 2DS system, including custom background music, background images, icons and sound effects. Themes can be purchased and immediately downloaded from the Theme Shop, which is accessible via the HOME Menu of a user’s console.


Turner POGO to Thailand

PogoTurner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific has partnered with Thai free-to-air broadcaster Channel 3 to host a daily two-hour programming block of POGO-branded content from March 30. The block offers a mix of animated and live-action original content from POGO, one of the most popular kids’ channels in India that Turner launched in 2004.
The block will air in Thai on the Family Channel 13 from 4-6pm on weekdays and 7-9am on weekends. Its programming includes first-run and exclusive content with live-action shows such as M.A.D. (which stands for Music, Art and Dance) and F.A.Q. (a science show for inquisitive youngsters), and Chhota Bheem, one of India's biggest ever animated homegrown franchises.
Phil Nelson, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, North Asia and Southeast Asia Pacific, Turner International Asia Pacific Limited, said “For more than a decade, kids in India have loved POGO and we are confident that its content will also work well in Thailand. Born Licensing Appointed by Twentieth Century Fox

Australian clip licensing firm Born Licensing has been appointed licensing agent for Twentieth Century Fox in the Australian and New Zealand markets. The Melbourne based company will represent the studios clip licensing business.
Owner and Director of Born Licensing David Born has long been involved with clip licensing, having previously worked for major global studios in several senior roles across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has an extraordinary portfolio of brands, and we are delighted to be partnering with them on their clip licensing business.
