Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Publishing Deal Finalized 

Scholastic, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, announce a global licensed publishing deal for children’s books based on the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films, as well as the Harry Potter movie franchise.
Launching in September 2016, the licensing deal includes all language rights for children’s movie tie-in books in multiple formats for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie and its sequels, as well as tie-in books based on the original eight Harry Potter films. 
In making the announcement, Catherine Bell, Co. Group Managing Director of Scholastic UK, said, “We are delighted to be publishing the tie-in programmes for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the original Harry Potter movies. With a range of exciting formats, we look forward to bringing the world of these amazing movies to existing fans and a new generation of readers.”

Imports Dragon Inks Deal for Collectibles with MLB and MLBPA

Imports Dragon signed a licensing agreement with Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, allowing it to make lifelike collectible figures of MLB players.
At least 40 different players will be available for 2016, with plans to increase the selection and include at least one player from each team in 2017. In 2016, the company will release a limited-edition David Ortiz figure to celebrate the final season of the Boston Red Sox slugger’s career. In addition, Imports Dragon will produce the Jay’s Josh Donaldson, as well as figures of past MLB superstars.
These exclusive figures will be available at retailers and partners throughout North America, including The new MLB Collectible Figures line is set to hit store shelves in April.

Spacetoon and ALC Announce Deals and Launches for MENA

As MIPTV approaches, Spacetoon, the free-to-air kids' channel that broadcasts in Arabic to 22 countries and more than 130 million viewers, and its licensing arm ALC, have announced a number of major broadcast and licensing deals.
In March Spacetoon began airing the boy’s action series Power Rangers Dino Charge, one of the latest seasons of the long-running Power Rangers TV series. Spacetoon has launched a strong promotional campaign for the show in coordination with Bandai ME and Toy Triangle.
Spacetoon has also secured the TV rights for the new series of Doraemon, the Japanese hit show about a cat who travels from his home in the 22nd century to help a young boy. Alongside Asian film distribution, publishing and licensing group Animation International and Japanese network TV Asahi Corporation, a long-term strategy is being developed to support the property, which began broadcasting in March.
In April, Little Charmers, an animated television series produced by Nelvana Enterprises, begins broadcasting on Spacetoon. Its tale of the magical land of Charmville, where charmers have special powers, is expected to be popular with both girls and boys. Also broadcasting on Spacetoon in April is ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks! from PGS Entertainment, a new series of the perennially popular animated adventures of the musical trio.
Spacetoon’s sister company and licensing arm, Arabian Licensing company (ALC), has been building on the success of a number of properties now seen on Spacetoon, notably the first Arabic language version of Sesame Street for 25 years — Iftah Ya Simsim — which premiered across nine broadcast stations in September. Deals in stationery and apparel have recently been signed for the Bidaya Media-owned property. In addition, 12 Iftah Ya Simsim colouring books are planned for the EMEA target markets.
ALC, the licensing agency that combines the forces of Dubai-based media development giant Global New Age Media (GNAM) and Ink Group, a leading solution provider in entertainment brand building headquartered in Copenhagen, recently joined forces to become Ink ALC. Fayez Weiss Al Sabbagh, President of Spacetoon Kids TV, comments: “I am certain that the merger between Ink and ALC, supported by Spacetoon TV, will enjoy great success in licensing thanks to its access to over one billion consumers across three regions.”

Original Smiley Brand Signs on for Food Promotions

The Original Smiley brand will partner with Dunkin Brands to be the face of Dunkin Donuts’ new Global Donut Day promotion. This activation is an extension of the chain’s celebrations around National Donut Day, which falls on the first Friday in June. Smiley will be featured on donuts and appear in marketing and in-store POS across 3,200 franchise outlets in 40 countries worldwide. Dunkin Donuts crew members will wear Smiley-branded “flash” merchandise, and Smiley will feature in all brand’s digital and social media campaigns around this event.
Smiley will also join forces with European QSR chains Quick to produce a promotional campaign to accompany their kids meal. Launching in May, Smiley will feature on Quick’s menu tops across Europe and Africa, including France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. Each pack will be filled with a selection of SmileyWorld gifts, including pin badges, bracelets, trading cards, posters, stickers, and transferable tattoos. The official Smiley will feature on a wide variety of promotional materials, including TV and print advertising, in-store point of sale and packaging.

Inspired Gift Ranges from The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has created and licensed a new range of skincare and bath treats, inspired by the life and works of Shakespeare. Shakespeare Inspired includes luxurious bath crèmes, body lotions and beautifully boxed gift sets. The fragrances in the range have been created with inspiration from the gardens of Shakespeare’s historic homes, and the romantic florals which feature in his plays.
Created with Brand Packaging Solutions, the luxury range has been carefully designed using iconic works and places relating to Shakespeare. The elegant packaging design has been inspired by the embroidery on a Jacobean night cap in the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s collections, and the ‘WS’ seal featured in the design is derived from the seal ring believed to have belonged to Shakespeare.

Cartoon Network Appoints TLC as Licensing Agent Across France, GSA, and Benelux

Cartoon Network appointed TLC as its licensing representative across France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Benelux. 

TLC will be responsible for building and managing the official licensing programs for Cartoon Network’s portfolio of original animated properties, including Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, Ben10, and The Amazing World of Gumball.

New Product Launches for The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady

The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady has seen several product launches.
The Personalised Memento Company (PMC) has launched new range of personalised gifts at Spring Fair to include stationery, ceramics, candles, Christmas decorations and more. The collection targets women of all ages with three distinctive design treatments – traditional, modern and Christmas, covering a variety of designs from soft botanical illustrations, to festive prints and bolder simplistic design statements.
In addition, Samuel Lamont launched their home textiles range to include aprons, oven gloves and tea towels. Led by a festive product offering it is perfect for the Christmas period in any home. The range will be expanded later in the year to include an everyday home textiles collection.

LIMA Unveils Licensing University Slate for Licensing Expo 2016

The Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA) announced its roster of Licensing University sessions for this year's Licensing Expo. The conference program will feature 20 seminars exploring a range of topics for licensing professionals at every stage of their career. LIMA will also continue its roundtable series of 20 short, interactive discussions on business-related topics.
The conference offers a strategic look at major industry segments, including corporate branding, legal, art, international, and digital licensing, as well as a full day of basics for industry newcomers. It also includes roundtable discussions on topics such as 3-D printing, food and beverage licensing, accounting issues, how to negotiate a licensing deal, and how to access a brand’s readiness for licensing.

Interested attendees can visit to purchase an all-access pass and to see the full schedule of Licensing University sessions. Licensing University will take place from June 20 to June 23 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

DHX Media Announces New Commissions for Three Series

DHX Media is heading to this year’s MIPTV, the world’s biggest TV and digital content market, with new commissions for three series: Chuck’s Choice has been commissioned by YTV in Canada, and has already been licensed to Turner Broadcasting France; Space Ranger Roger is commissioned by Family Jr.; and season two of Inspector Gadget has been commissioned by Teletoon, in Canada. All three series are being produced at DHX Studios.

GBI Appoints Debra Pierson as General Manager of Kid Genius Channel

Genius Brands International (GBI) appoints Debra Pierson as general manager of the Kid Genius entertainment channel on Xfinity On Demand. Pierson brings more than 25 years of experience to her new position.
Previously, Pierson worked as the vice president of sales and marketing for Kabillion and helped launch the Kabillion Kids VOD channel. Pierson also served as vice president of specialty merchandise for Neopets and worked as the CEO of Cosmic Toast Studios.

Entertainment One’s Peppa Pig Takes Over Asda’s ‘Baby and Toddler’ Retail Event

Entertainment One (eOne) recently unveiled a partnership with UK supermarket giant Asda that will see its hit TV preschool property Peppa Pig play a central role in the grocer’s annual ‘Baby and Toddler’ event.
From 28th March 2016, Asda’s ‘Baby and Toddler’ promotional event is engaging parents and children both in-store and online with events and promotional offers. This year, shoppers will be treated to a fun and interactive Peppa Pig experience during the 5-week event, which will span in-store entertainment, activities for children and enhanced visibility for the brand’s consumer products in over 300 Asda stores nationwide.
On Saturday 16th April, an exclusive Peppa Pig in-store entertainment event will be held in 60 key Asda stores.
During Asda’s Baby and Toddler event, Peppa Pig will have a heightened in-store presence to ensure high visibility for the entire merchandise range including toys, apparel, personal care, homewares and FMCG.
As part of the promotion, limited edition Peppa Pig branded packs of Asda’s Little Angels nappies will be available both in-store and online.

The Buffalo Works, Suzanne Cruise Creative Services Merge

The Buffalo Works and Suzanne Cruise Creative Services (SCCS) are merging to form one licensing agency. This collaboration will benefit the agencies’ collective base of licensed artists and strengthen the brands they represent.

The companies will be located next to one other at Licensing Expo in June (booths E106 and E108), forming one larger booth to facilitate their joint venture. SCCS will also exhibit with all artists at the May SURTEX Show in New York.

Campbell Casts a Web on Soup Aisles with Marvel’s Spider-Man

Campbell Soup Company has teamed up with Disney Consumer Products and Marvel Entertainment to bring web-slinging Super Hero Spider-Man to the soup aisle to celebrate the recent launch of Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six on Disney XD.
Made with intricate, die-cut pasta figures, followers of the classic comic can fill their soup spoons with miniature shapes inspired by the character. New and old fans alike will enjoy the Campbell’s Spider-Man soups, which do not contain added MSG, artificial flavors or artificial colors.

Dreamtex Ltd and SkyBrands A/S Launch Justin Bieber Collection

Dreamtex Ltd and SkyBrands A/S have announced a collection of Justin Bieber home textile products, featuring polycotton bedlinen in singles and doubles, large heart-shaped cushions and cool cotton towels in the initial phase.

‘Super’ New Range from Character World

Character World has launched a blockbuster new Batman v Superman range.
The anticipated movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which was released in the UK on 25th March, sees the superheroes - Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman – on screen together for the first time.
To meet expected consumer demand Character World has produced a full Batman v Superman range, which is available now at Argos, Tesco and other major retailers. The range includes duvet covers, a cushion, curtains, bean bag, fleece blanket, a poncho and a towel.

m4e Brings Comic Adaptation Jinnrise to Television

Adding another piece to its brand portfolio, the German brand management and media company m4e AG will take on the comic adaptation Jinnrise. The new 3D CGI-animated series will be based on the comic series Jinnrise by Sohaib Awan and co-produced with Jabal Entertainment LLC after successful financing. m4e will then handle worldwide distribution and licensing & merchandising rights.
The state-of-the-art CGI animated comedy action-adventure series will target boys and girls alike, aged 7-12 years.

Marvel Encourages Women to ‘Be a Hero’ with New Her Universe Activewear Line

Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media have announced a Marvel Super Hero makeover for women’s activewear via a new collaboration with fangirl fashion company, Her Universe. The stylish line for teens and millennial women is inspired by the forthcoming movie Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and will launch this month at Kohl’s stores and
The capsule collection featuring looks based on Black Widow, Iron Man and Captain America will be tagged “Be A Hero” and offer more than 30 pieces, including tanks, sports bras and leggings, available in sizes XS – XL and 1X – 3X.
“Collaborating with Marvel on activewear is a dream come true,” said Her Universe Founder Ashley Eckstein. “These Marvel characters inspire me to try and ‘Be A Hero’ in my everyday life, and being active is an important part! Masha on Free to Air Everywhere

Masha and the Bear continues to reel in viewers around the world, with a raft of big broadcasting deals giving the show free to air coverage in Europe, Asia and North America.
The show - named best animation in the Creative Talent category at the 2015 Kidscreen Awards - is dominating the schedules through major free to air channels across the globe. This includes the whole of continental Europe, through stations such as Europe DR (Denmark), VRT (Benelux), France 5 (France), RAI (Italy),), Nova TV (Croatia), and TVP (Poland). Elsewhere, broadcasters include EBS (South Korea), Tele Quebec (French Canada), MOMO TV (Taiwan), ABC (Australia), and Spacetoon (MENA). Zodiak Kids Studios Secures Sprout Commission

Zodiak Kids and Sprout, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s 24-hour preschool network, have announced the upcoming launch of Kody Kapow, the newest addition to Sprouts increasing portfolio of original series. Kody Kapow, produced by Zodiak Kids Studios, is slated to debut on Sprout in early 2017 and builds upon the network’s emphasis on delivering high quality original content to families.
 “Over the past year, Sprout has doubled the amount of original series on our air, and that number steadily increases with the upcoming launch of Kody Kapow,” said Frances Berwick, president, Lifestyle Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.  “We know our new content is resonating with our audience – our recent launch of Floogals (produced by Zodiak Kids Studios) attracted new viewers to the network at a 30% increase in its first six weeks.  With these strong additions to our lineup, we continue to deliver exclusive programming that drives families to watch together and keeps them engaged and inspired.”

Sergey Sysoev and Fox Collaborate for Ice Age Fashion

Fashion designer Sergey Sysoev, in collaboration with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, has created a unique fashion collection for F/W 16/17 inspired by the new animated movie Ice Age: Collision Course, which opens in Russia on July 14th 2016. 
The Sergey Sysoev for Ice Age: Collision Course collection consists of 30 looks.
Sergey Sysoev commented: “I was inspired by my sons Stepan and Luka’s favorite Ice Age characters; the acorn obsessed squirrel Scrat and the tough saber tooth tiger Diego.
