  41 Entertainment Signs New Deals for Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures

41 Entertainment (41e) has granted the free TV rights to RTVE/Clan TV and the pay TV rights to Canal Panda for Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures in Spain. The 26 x 22-minute TV series is slated to begin broadcast this summer on Canal Panda and next January on Clan.

In addition, 41e has granted the apparel license for children's and adult nightwear/loungewear, underwear, leisurewear, outerwear, swimwear, and accessories to Sun City for France, including French-speaking Belgium and Monaco.

41e has already granted a U.S. license for the apparel category to Hybrid, a Canadian license to JCORP, a U.K. license to Blues Clothing, and an Italian license to Italian Brands.

  V&S Extends Al Jazeera Deal

V&S Entertainment has announced the extension of its long-term co-production agreement with Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) for a third series of the CGI-animated show Everything's Rosie. The deal will see V&S and JCC continue to co-produce and co-fund future series of Everything's Rosie, which airs on BaraemTV.

BaraemTV is the first Arabic TV channel in the world dedicated to preschoolers. Following its launch in 2009 by JCC, BaraemTV airs for 17 hours a day and is specifically designed to help children develop social and vital life skills. It is funded by the Qatar Foundation for education, science, and community development.

  Laura Ashley Launches New Kitchen and Tabletop Collection

Laura Ashley has signed a licensing agreement with Merison Groep BV to create a contemporary kitchen and tabletop collection. The Merison design team will produce a range of cookware, bakeware, dinnerware, glassware, and cutlery that reflects the brand's fresh twist on classic style.

The Laura Ashley tabletop collection debuted at the Chicago Housewares Show last week and will be on permanent display in the Hermes-Otto International Showroom at 489 Fifth Avenue in New York. The full collection will launch in the fall.

  Mind Candy Presents Moshi Monsters In-Store Eggstravaganza

Mind Candy has partnered with UK retailers Argos, Sainsbury's, and The Entertainer to bring a range of exclusive Moshi Monsters deals to stores in time for Easter. Argos stores will offer fans the chance to snatch up an exclusive in-game spaceship item; The Entertainer stores across the country will be rewarding customers with coupons to redeem a free in-game Easter jack-in-the-box bunny with any Moshi Monsters purchase; and Sainsbury's will reveal a range of Moshi Monsters clothing, including hats, swimsuits, T-shirts, and socks. To celebrate the arrival into Sainsbury's larger stores, fans of the monster brand will be gifted with 500 free Rox to spend in the game when they buy any Moshi Monsters item (excluding food).

  Game of Thrones Fastest Selling Merchandise Property for HBO

The Game of Thrones international retail footprint is the fastest growing of all of the HBO show properties, including Sex and the City and True Blood, with the online HBO Shop and fine retailers servicing fans in the UK, the U.S., Canada, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, and other countries across Europe. Game of Thrones is the best-selling franchise in terms of merchandise sales on the HBO Shop Europe, accounting for 75 percent of sales last year. Game of Thrones is the fastest growing category of merchandise sales, growing more than five times in sales on the HBO Shop Europe last year versus 2011.

  Biplano Represents Angry Words

Biplano has signed an agreement with Etermax to become the licensing agent for Angry Words, one of the top apps in Spain. Biplano will develop a licensing plan for Spain, France, and Portugal for the app. Angry Words is a multiplayer crosswords online game available in multiple languages, including English and Spanish. In Spain, one in four smartphone users has downloaded Angry Words. Eighty-three percent of its users are between 18 and 44 years old including both men and women. Last year, Angry Words was appointed as game of the year in the App Store.

  eOne Adds Evy of California for Peppa Pig Girls' Apparel

Entertainment One Family (eOne) has entered into a licensing partnership with Evy of California to develop a new line of Peppa Pig-themed apparel for girls. The first collection is scheduled to debut in select mass and specialty retailers across the country in the spring.

The new line, which will include T-shirts, sportswear, and dresses for girls ages 2 to 5, will capture the cheeky style of Peppa, the star of the animated TV show for preschoolers, Peppa Pig. Designs will feature playful details, such as 3-D bows and flowers, flutter sleeves, and glitter.

The Peppa Pig brand has also expanded its U.S. digital presence with two DVDs, Muddy Puddles and Other Stories and Flying a Kite and Other Stories, and the launch of the first ever Peppa Pig U.S. app, Peppa Pig Happy Mrs. Chicken, from interactive publisher P2 Games.

  Brand Extensions Russia Appointed for The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Brand Extensions Russia (BER) has been appointed by The Joester Loria Group, the worldwide agent for The World of Eric Carle, to represent the brand in the Russian market, with an initial focus on The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

BER will launch the Russian program for The World of Eric Carle, and plans to introduce products featuring The Very Hungry Caterpillar next year to coincide with the 45th anniversary celebrations of the book. BER launched the brand at the Russian Licensing Forum in Moscow.

BER's aim is to build on The Hungry Caterpillar's position to grow its potential in the Russian market. The licensing program will strongly emphasize The World of Eric Carle's signature colors and characters and draw on the unique style and appeal of the brand.

  Feld Entertainment, Marvel Entertainment Partner for Marvel Universe Live

Feld Entertainment Inc. and Marvel Entertainment LLC have signed an agreement to produce an unprecedented new show that will bring Marvel characters and stories to life in live-action arena spectaculars. Superhero icons, including Spider-Man, The Avengers, and X-Men will unite together in one place to defend Earth against threats from the most fearsome villains in the Marvel Universe.

Under the recently-signed multi-year agreement, family-owned and operated Feld Entertainment will produce live Marvel touring events in the U.S. and internationally. Launching in July 2014, a new production of Marvel character-based stories will be coupled with state-of-the-art special effects, pyrotechnics, aerial displays, martial arts, and countless other show elements to bring audiences into the Marvel Universe. The production will embark on an 85-city North American tour before heading around the globe.

  English for Global Licensing Program Launched by ZenWorks

Tokyo-based licensing consultancy ZenWorks is set to launch its English for Global Licensing training program to deliver English-language learning workshops, seminars, and classes customized to the Japanese licensing and creative contents industries. Zenworks’ goal is to develop the English-language skills of executives in these fields to a strong working level on the global stage.

The first workshop will be "Introducing Your Company Effectively," a one-day program on presentation skills to be delivered on May 11. Participants will be coached on the content, timing, and delivery of their presentations, and following the workshop ZenWorks will edit the presentations professionally so they can be put to immediate use. The company has set the date of the workshop to precede major global licensing trade fairs in Las Vegas, Tokyo, Seoul, and London.

Roger Berman and Geoff Tozer will lead the workshop. Berman is president of ZenWorks, a director of LIMA Japan, the licensing trade body, and a professional in the Japanese licensing industry. Tozer is a part-time university lecturer at Japanese national universities, examiner, and author of TOEIC guides. The workshop is inclusive of course materials and lunch. A 10 percent discount off the workshop price is available to LIMA Japan members. Following the workshop, Tozer and Berman invite participants for a relaxing drink at an authentic British pub in Roppongi

  Rubie's to Produce Costumes Inspired by Oz the Great and Powerful

Rubie's Costume Company Inc. has a line of licensed costumes, accessories, make-up, and masks based on Oz the Great and Powerful, in theaters now. From Glinda's ethereal dress, to Oscar Diggs's signature top hat and bow tie, each costume incorporates individual elements from the film. The Oz the Great and Powerful costume collection is available in teen and adult sizes and includes: Oscar Diggs, Glinda, Theodora, Evanora, China Doll, and Finley. The collection will be available online and in stores for the Halloween season.

  Pink Key Partners with Eureka

Pink Key Consulting has been appointed as the exclusive licensing agent for Eureka! The National Children's Museum. Pink Key will develop a retail-driven licensing program designed to entertain and encourage imaginative play. Key merchandising categories planned include toys, games, publishing, and stationery.

  Poeticgem Picks Up Pac-Man for New Nightwear Range

Poeticgem is set to develop nightwear based on the Pac-Man brand after signing a deal with Namco Bandai Games Inc. After its 1980 release, Pac-Man became the highest grossing video game in history. In addition to video games, Pac-Man has stretched into TV, music, and merchandising, making the little yellow figure and the team of enemy ghosts some of the most recognizable images ever to come out of the video game sector. The classic Pac-Man imagery will be used by Poeticgem to create an adult nightwear range.

  Horrid Henry in Global Broadcast Sales Deals

Novel Entertainment has sold Horrid Henry to several new territories through its global distribution partner Zodiak Kids. Korean agent Asiana has taken IPTV and DVD rights to the third series of Horrid Henry. Greek broadcaster ERT has also picked up TV rights to the third series, while Mediacorp Singapore has acquired the third series of Horrid Henry and re-licensed the first and second series. NRK in Norway has renewed its deal for the first series; Slovenian Pro Plus has taken the second and third series, and PlusPlus has signed on for the first three series for Ukraine. The first series of Horrid Henry is also debuting in Israel through a deal with Noga Communications Ltd.

These new broadcast deals add to the networks across the globe that have already acquired Horrid Henry, including Cartoon Network for the Asia Pacific region, ZDF Germany, RTE Eire, Mediacorp Singapore, RUV Iceland, NRK Norway, SVT Sweden, YLE Finland, RTP Portugal, TVP1 in Poland, Iconix in Korea, and Digiturk in Turkey.

  Pocoyo to Serve Third Term as Global Kids' Ambassador for WWF's Earth Hour

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Earth Hour have announced that Pocoyo will serve a third term as Earth Hour's Global Kids' Ambassador, spearheading the initiative to reach kids through a new partnership with the Ocean Defenders Alliance Organization. Earth Hour 2013, the global initiative in partnership with WWF, will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. as individuals, businesses, governments, and communities are invited to turn out their lights for one hour to show their support for environmentally sustainable action.

As part of Earth Hour 2013 "I Will if You Will" campaign, Zinkia Entertainment is introducing Pocoyo’s Ocean Cleanup Game, available through Earth Hour's website and the Official Pocoyo Facebook page. If 100,000 children go online and play the new Ocean Cleanup Game, Pocoyo and his Friends have pledged to help collect more than two tons of Ocean debris. The cleanup will be carried out by Ocean Defenders Alliance, whose mission is to eliminate dangerous man-made debris threatening ocean wildlife. To promote the initiative, Pocoyo is featured in a new public service announcement available for on-air broadcast and online across websites and social media platforms.

  Channel 4 Acquires Rebound from Zodiak for 2013 Premiere

Channel 4 has acquired the UK premiere broadcast rights to Rebound (Les Revenants) from Zodiak Rights. The series, produced by Haut & Court for Canal +, will have its U.K. premiere on C4 this year.

Gil Hay, head of acquisitions at Channel 4, says, "The first fully subtitled drama that we have broadcast in 20 years, everything about Rebound feels very Channel 4; visceral, compelling, and incredibly contemporary, the creators have taken the supernatural genre and re-written the rules. It is evidence not just of a creative high point in European drama but of Channel 4's willingness to bring audiences the best and most challenging programs."

  Kellogg Partners with Tabletops Unlimited for Prep and Serve Products

Kellogg Company has partnered with Tabletops Unlimited (TTU), in a deal secured by The Joester Loria Group, to create licensed products in the casual dinnerware, serveware, prepware, glassware, cookie jar, and canister categories for Kellogg-owned brands and associated character art, logos, and slogans. TTU will create tabletop collections for Apple Jacks, Corn Flakes, Corn Pops, Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Honey Smacks, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Cheez-It, Special K, Eggo, Pop-Tarts, Keebler, and Kellogg's Vintage.

TTU plans to introduce Kellogg's-branded prep and serve products that enhance consumers' daily breakfast service ritual at home, in the office, or on the go. TTU's licensed Kellogg products will be sold in the U.S. and its territories and possessions, including U.S. Military Exchanges worldwide.

  Warner Bros. Talks Russian Opportunities

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), in partnership with its Russian licensing agent the European Licensing Co. (ELC), will showcase new opportunities for tent pole releases Man of Steel and The Hobbit Trilogy at Russia Licensing Forum, as well as classic brands Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, and Looney Tunes.

Looney Tunes, a cornerstone of the WBCP portfolio, is achieving notable success in the apparel category in Russia. Clothing retailer Incity will launch a Looney Tunes apparel collection in more than 330 stores across Russia while Looney Tunes-branded clothing will be sold in 130 Befree stores nationwide.

WBCP is working with new and existing licensees to continue supporting The Hobbit Trilogy, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures.

  HSN, HGTV Partner to Redefine Outdoor Home Category At HSN

HSN and HGTV have debuted HGTV Home Outdoor Living, only at HSN. Launched across HSN and HGTV’s multiple platforms on March 19, HGTV Home Outdoor Living redefines the outdoor living retail landscape with top HGTV experts appearing on HSN, including Designer John Gidding, star of Curb Appeal. The HGTV experts will offer advice and showcase an assortment of high-quality, HGTV-curated outdoor products, including exclusive HGTV Home-branded items.

The multi-year partnership is designed to leverage the full potential of the HSN and HGTV brands, with HGTV becoming the face for HSN's outdoor living category. The partnership will include creative, original content that will be integrated across the digital and on-air assets of both companies.

HGTV Home Outdoor Living at HSN will feature products across various categories including outdoor equipment, plants, lighting, water accessories, outdoor entertaining, garden tools, and outdoor solutions. The HGTV Home Plant Collection also debuted on HSN on March 19, offering a variety of annuals, planters, and nutrients. Beanstalk is HGTV'S exclusive licensing agency.
