LIMA to Host Inaugural Event in Colombia

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) announced that it will host its first event in Bogota, Colombia on April 21, in collaboration with several major Latin American licensing agents. Licensing: Take Your Company to the Next Level will feature a full day of educational programming led by industry experts, including a panel discussion on licensing in Colombia and case studies of successful Latin American programs.

The panel discussion Licensing in Colombia: A Challenge, a Dream or an Opportunity? will feature Celso Rafael, Exim Brazil; Paulina Loaiza, Group Exito; Lina Marin, Compania de Galletas NOEL; Erika Gonzalez, Grupo Papelero Scribe; Victoria Casasbuenas, Continente S.A.; and Pablo Maspero, Sony Music, Latin Iberia Region.

Thomas Cook and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Announce Strategic Partnership

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA) and Thomas Cook Group have announced a major cooperative marketing agreement aimed at promoting the Emirate as a premier destination for European leisure tourism.
Initially running from 1 March 2016 – 28 February 2017, the co-marketing partnership will help to raise awareness about Ras Al Khaimah in international markets and drive travel and tourism to the destination.

A large proportion of the initiative, which will run simultaneously across the UK, Germany and Scan- dinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden & Finland), will be focused on the promotion of Ras Al Khaimah as a world-class tourism destination for authentic Arabian experiences. This will be marked by a high profile, co-branded marketing campaign that fully exploits the holiday company’s consumer and trade touch-points. It will include in-store promotions across Thomas Cook’s retail estate, along with creative development and production by the Ras Al Khaimah TDA.

Rubie’s Wins Walmart’s Seasonal Supplier of the Year Award

Rubie’s Costume Co., an industry leader in licensed Halloween costumes and dress up, was awarded the Seasonal Supplier of the Year award from Walmart. The award was presented at Walmart’s Year Beginning Meeting on Feb. 11 in Indianapolis.

All American Licensing Signs Further Deals for Kim Alexis

All American Licensing announced the inking of two new licensing deals for Super Model, Kim Alexis; Fortune Wigs has developed the Kim Alexis Collection of 100% human hair wigs for women; hair extensions and pieces, and human hair accessories and Royal Items has a deal for fashion jewelry, hair accessories, novelties, hosiery and sandals.
Kim Alexis stated, “My mission is to inspire women around the world and to empower them to believe that true beauty comes from within. I chose Fortune Wigs for their high quality of human hair and the benefit wigs and extensions have to women who need to feel beautiful due to hair loss. Royal Items will take a creative direction towards affordable products with an emphasis on fashion and trends but with a keen eye towards everyday practicality and simplicity.  I also intend to implement my social media platforms toward helping sales."
Royal Items will launch its phase one Kim Alexis Jewelry Collection this Fall.

EB Brands Partners with Skechers for Fitness and Work Safety Lines

Skechers USA Inc. and EB Brands will partner to launch a full range of Skechers-branded running, yoga, and fitness products as well as a line of workplace safety gear and accessories.
The Skechers line will draw on an array of branded assets to capture the look and feel of Skechers. The line will focus on wellness, with products including yoga accessories, personal fitness gear, and running and walking accessories. Skechers fitness and wellness products will launch at retail in early fall.
Brandgenuity represented EB Brands in this deal.

Nicola Thompson Joins Rockpool Licensing; Agency Signs CLICK! for Brambly Hegde

Former Senior Commercial Manager, Nicola Thompson, CPLG Sport is teaming up with Vickie O’Malley at Rockpool Licensing.
Nicola’s licensing career began in 2006 as Head of Partnerships at West Ham Utd. She moved to CPLG in 2008, managing a prestigious portfolio of clients over the years including The FA, RFU, St Andrew’s Links, Fulham FC and, indeed, her former club, West Ham Utd. 
Vickie O’Malley, MD Rockpool Licensing, said: “Nic’s track record in managing multi £M brand licensing and sponsorship programmes makes her a tremendous asset. Ideaologie Signs Artist Don Weller

Ideaologie has signed on as the agency of record for artist Don Weller. Don and his wife Cha Cha have been in the marketing industry for many years, and have achieved significant prominence from Weller’s art, including covers on both Time magazine and TV Guide. His paintings are shown in galleries across the U.S., he has won numerous awards, and he is the author of six books showcasing his art.
Ideaologie will work with Weller to further develop the brand for a broader audience base, and will create a strategic plan for growth into retail. Ideaologie will seek licensing partners to help grow the business, and set the strategic licensing direction to capture new and untapped potential markets.

Entertainment One Signs New Licensing Deals for Peppa Pig in Australia

Entertainment One (eOne) continues to boost its strong line up of best in class licensees with new licensing deals across apparel, FMCG and personal care for its hit preschool property, Peppa Pig, in Australia.
New to the Peppa Pig licensing program is apparel partner Hot Springs. The licensee has been signed to produce a new range of Peppa Pig outerwear and sleepwear for its Autumn/Winter collection, which will hit Big W stores in March 2016. Further bolstering the apparel category, and new to the licensing program, is long-term Aussie favourite, Pacific Brands, which is on board to produce a line of branded underwear and socks.
eOne is building on its long-standing partnership with Peppa Pig biscuit partner, Park Avenue Foods. The leading licensed FMCG biscuit and confectionery manufacturer is extending their range to add Peppa Pig dessert treats/ice-creams into the frozen product aisles of Woolworth supermarkets.
Finally, news for the brand is that Beiersdorf, which produces Elastoplast Wound-care, is set to launch Peppa Pig Plasters into the Australian market from May 2016.

Henson Signs Media Partners for Lily’s Driftwood Bay and Elias: Rescue Team Adventures

Henson Independent Properties (HIP), The Jim Henson Co.’s third-party licensing and distribution label, concluded a number of broadcast and digital license deals for the children’s preschool series Lily’s Driftwood Bay and Elias: Rescue Team Adventures.
Vme TV, the first national Spanish-language TV network operating in association with public TV stations and reaching more than 70 million households in the U.S., has acquired exclusive basic cable rights to Elias: Rescue Team Adventures for the U.S. Hispanic market. In Asia, the series was licensed to POD Worldwide, which picked up exclusive free TV rights for Thailand, and Media Corp, which secured exclusive free TV rights. In Eastern Europe, Tring TV licensed the series for free TV, basic cable, and basic satellite in Albania. These agreements are in addition to existing partnerships with Ireland’s TG4, Finland’s MTV Oy, and Sweden’s SVT in Europe; and United Home Entertainment for Thailand.
Elias: Rescue Team Adventures is a CGI-animated series for preschoolers featuring Elias, a brave, playful little rescue boat with an enthusiasm for adventure based on the children’s picture book.
Discovery Education acquired global educational rights to Lily’s Driftwood Bay, a mixed-media animated series for kids ages 4 to 6 that follows the imaginative adventures of 5-year-old Lily. Additionally, NCircle has acquired DVD rights to the series in the U.S.; DAAI TV has acquired the exclusive free TV rights in Indonesia; and Multichoice Africa has acquired non-exclusive SVOD and AVOD rights in Africa.
In Lily’s Driftwood Bay, Lily uses her creativity and imagination to craft wonderful adventures and colorful characters inspired by the extraordinary items that she finds washed ashore on the island where she lives with her father.

Portfolio Entertainment Hires Jonathan Abraham as Director of International Sales and Acquisitions

Portfolio Entertainment has appointed Jonathan Abraham to the position of Director of International Sales and Acquisitions effective immediately.
Abraham will be responsible for selling Portfolio’s original programs internationally and for guiding the strategic growth of the company’s distribution division. In his role, Abraham will also be charged with acquiring third-party content for Portfolio’s distribution catalogue of kids, factual and lifestyle programming. Abraham will be based out of Portfolio’s offices in Toronto and will report directly into Joy Rosen, CEO and Co-Founder of Portfolio Entertainment.
Abraham comes to Portfolio from international toy company Zuru Ltd. where he served as the International Sales and Marketing Manager in Hong Kong. Prior to this, Abraham was an Account Manager at Brunico Communications (Kidscreen).

Angry Birds to Receive the Madame Tussauds Treatment

A new experience starring larger than life figures of larger than life Angry Birds - Red, Chuck and Bomb, will open at Madame Tussauds London in the run up to the release of The Angry Birds Movie. The unique digital experience will be in London from the end of April until July, before touring Madame Tussauds attractions around the world.
Developed in close collaboration with Rovio Entertainment and produced for the attraction by leading innovators in brand experiences, ps Live, Angry Birds at Madame Tussauds will digitally bring to life one of the key scenes from the film in a 3-D backdrop and guests can step in, interact and star alongside Madame Tussauds' figures of explosive Bomb, speedy Chuck and furious Red. 

The Entertainer to Celebrate Opening of Haywards Heath Store

The Entertainer  will open its new Haywards Heath store on Saturday 2nd April in The Orchards Shopping Centre. The toy retailer, who has seen profits soar in the last five years, is bucking the current trend across the retail industry and has plans to open further stores across the UK in 2016. 
The 2,800 sqft West Sussex store, will provide choice for families shopping at the popular centre, in addition to creating many new jobs in the area. Children stepping into The Entertainer will be transported into a world of wonder, surrounded by all their favourite toys plus friendly staff will be on hand to help guide families around the new store. The Entertainer will have special appearances from Lego Ninjago’s Kai and Lloyd together with The Entertainer’s very own Jack throughout the day, along with plenty of fun in-store demos of the latest toys and special seasonal promotions.
