Toy Fair Exhibitors Donate Record Number of Toys and Games to Benefit Kids in Need

Thousands of disadvantaged children across the United States will soon have new toys and games to call their own. Following   the 114th North American International Toy Fair, exhibiting toy companies donated a record-breaking number of nearly 55,000 new toys to the Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) Toy Bank.
At the close of Toy Fair, more than 80 volunteers swept the aisles of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to collect action figures, outdoor toys, ride-ons, dolls, board games, plush, and more, from hundreds of generous toy companies. The toys are currently being separated and sorted, and will be sent to TIF’s national partner, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), and several charities in the New York tri-state area serving kids who are impoverished, neglected, sick, or otherwise in need.
“Sadly, some children rarely get to experience the excitement that comes along with a brand new toy.  The donations received at Toy Fair will provide many children in need with toys of their very own, and help to bring them joy through play,” says Elizabeth Max, TIF program manager. “This year we collected more than $600,000 worth of playthings at Toy Fair as a result of our generous exhibitors.”
Toy Fair is the Toy Bank’s largest annual toy collection, but TIF strives all year to serve millions of children in need with the help of toy donations, financial contributions, and volunteer efforts. Companies interested in learning more about TIF, or The Toy Bank, are encouraged to contact Elizabeth Max.
