  Hope Road Merchandising Signs New Partners for Bob Marley

Hope Road Merchandising LLC, the worldwide property rights owner for cultural icon Bob Marley, has made two significant changes to the brand's global representation. Music merchandising company Bravado has acquired the worldwide apparel rights for Bob Marley through a strategic investment in the Marley family's apparel and accessories company, Zion Rootswear. Additionally, Hope Road Merchandising has retained Creative Artists Agency (CAA), an entertainment and sports agency, for exclusive representation of the Marley brand.

Bravado will work closely with the Marley family to expand the global reach of Zion Rootswear, which will include launching Marley-inspired apparel collections and merchandise, as well as developing brands across a broad spectrum of apparel categories using the Bravado model.

CAA has assumed management of the existing brand portfolio of Marley licensees, and will create new global opportunities in the areas of motion pictures, TV, commercial endorsements, consumer licensing, digital media, and games. Additionally, CAA will serve as a consultant to 1Love.org, the Marley family foundation, on its philanthropic initiatives.

  Advanstar Reveals New BLE Floor Plan

Brand Licensing Europe 2013 (BLE), organized by Advanstar, has unveiled a new floor plan for the first time in its 15-year history. This year the show floor will be divided into three areas: brands; art, design, and image; and character and entertainment. Dedicated areas, in the newly renovated West Hall and on the gallery level, have been created for brands and art, design and image, while character and entertainment will remain on the ground floor.

This year will also see the introduction of new features, including The Brands Bar and Meeting Place, The Brand Experience Theatre, a new and improved Art & Design Café, and brand installations showcasing licensed products. Brand Licensing Europe 2013 will take place October 15 to 17 at London's Olympia.

  Nestlé Develops Jungle Book Chocolate Eggs for Easter

Planeta Junior Italy, which handles licensing rights for The Jungle Book, has signed with Nestlé Group for chocolate eggs to be sold during the Easter season.

The Jungle Book follows Mowgli and his friends in an adventurous CGI-animated series that sees the protagonist grow and learn to live in the dangerous jungle. Produced by DQ Entertainment, The Jungle Book has been already transmitted on RAI Due and will be back during 2013.

Planeta Junior Italia is handling all licensing products categories in Italy, Greece, and Cyprus for the property. Other new deals for The Jungle Book include partners for publishing and apparel with products releasing soon.

  Promotions at Nickelodeon and Viacom

Mark Kingston has been promoted to general manager and senior vice president for NVCP Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Australia. Ron Johnson has been appointed as the new executive vice president for NVCP.

Kingston will oversee Viacom International Media Networks consumer products in key markets, reporting to Johnson. Effective from April 1, Johnson will lead all of Viacom's international consumer products operations, based in New York.

  Lawless Entertainment Appointed Worldwide Representatives for Team XYZ

Lawless Entertainment has been appointed the worldwide representative for television production and distribution, publishing, and licensing and merchandising for Team XYZ (Extreme Youth Zone). Team XYZ is a half-hour animated action-adventure series that follows five teenage extreme sport athletes who are recruited to an elite strike force team assigned to carry out top-secret missions to prevent a conspiracy to destroy Earth.

Each episode of Team XYZ will begin with live-action footage of actual Extreme Sport athletes, including surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and BMX champions. The show was created by Jeff Lappin, author of Simon Makes Waves and Marcel Moves Mountains.

  Peppa Pig Strengthens Presence in Asia

Entertainment One (eOne) has signed broadcast and licensing agreements for Peppa Pig in Asia. These new deals will see the preschool property launch in Korea this year. The firm also revealed that a dedicated territory manager has been appointed to bolster the brand's presence in the Asian market. The series will air in Korea on the country's Educational Broadcast System (EBS) and new episodes will begin broadcasting on the terrestrial channel this month.

Licensing agent Cocoban is on board to represent Peppa Pig in Korea and the first line of merchandise is set to launch before Christmas. The deals with EBS and Cocoban were brokered by eOne's newly appointed territory manager for Asia, Daniela Flower, who will oversee broadcast and licensing across all regions, excluding Japan, for eOne's portfolio of entertainment properties. Based in Hong Kong, Flower was integral to sealing broadcast deals for Peppa Pig in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand last year.

  Jo-Ann, HGTV Home to Launch Exclusive Line of Fabric, Trims

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, a fabric and craft specialty retailer in the U.S., is partnering with HGTV Home to bring an exclusive line of contemporary, trend-forward home décor fabrics and trims to Jo-Ann customers and fans of the HGTV Home collection.

The line of fabrics will be available in-store and at Joann.com. In-store, customers will find an assortment of 30 colorful prints and patterns. Joann.com will feature an expanded assortment of 74 exclusive designs. The entire assortment of home décor fabrics is available now and outdoor fabrics and trims will be added to the mix by April 13.

  Maat Brands Launches Free Umko App for iPad

Maat Brands has launched a free Umko app for the iPad. This offering from the App Store is the first in the series of interactive books for children featuring Umko, the yellow alien. Umko is a project created and designed in several countries, originating from Slovenia.

  Outfit7 Appoints New COO

Outfit7, the company behind the Talking Friends apps, has appointed Alessandro Traverso as COO. In the newly created role, Traverso will be responsible for the management of Outfit7 operations including strategic planning, content development, monetization, marketing, and brand management. He will be tasked with further extending the Talking Friends brand portfolio. Traverso most recently served at HIT Entertainment where as senior vice president of commercial development he was responsible for leading all commercial strategic initiatives across the company's brand portfolio, television channels, and JV investments. He previously held positions at Discovery Channel and the BBC.

  DHX Signs Icon in Russia

DHX Media has entered into a multi-year merchandising and licensing representation deal with Russian agent Icon Promotions. The deal takes on TV series Animal Mechanicals, Johnny Test, and the Richard Scarry collection, which includes Vintage Richard Scarry and Hurray for Huckle. Hurray for Huckle currently airs on local broadcaster Carousel, Channel 1, while Johnny Test is broadcast on Cartoon Network Russia.

  NBA Canada's Licensing Program Expands with New Deals

NBA Canada, in conjunction with Studio Licensing, has signed new mass retail deals with Bulletin and Millennium Products Group. Bulletin will launch a line of NBA short-and long-sleeved T-shirts featuring a variety of designs across multiple NBA teams. The apparel will be available at Winners locations across Canada. Millenium Products Group will launch a variety of home accessory items including an NBA-branded basketball-shaped chair and ottoman.

  Al Jazeera Children's Channel in Deal with Disney

Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) has signed a new free TV agreement with Disney, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA). This is in line with the company's new content strategy and follows JCC's recent children's programming agreement with BBC Worldwide.

JCC, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has acquired the rights to a selection of Disney's kids and family content, including Disney and Disney/Pixar movies as well as Disney Channels' live action and animated series.

Through this deal, JCC will telecast TV shows, such as Phineas and Ferb and Kim Possible, as well as Lilo and Stitch, Zeke and Luther, and Jojo's Circus, among others.

  Building Q Signs as Representative for Liquid Blue

Building Q, a licensing and marketing consulting firm based in Durango, Colo., has been selected to represent Rhode Island-based T-shirt and apparel manufacturer Liquid Blue. Liquid Blue began 25 years ago, with company members selling handmade tie-dye products in parking lots during Grateful Dead concerts. Today the company produces hundreds of SKUs in its 69,000 square foot facility in Lincoln, R.I. Its products, which currently feature licensed images from the National Football League, Major League Baseball, LiveNation, Warner Music, The Three Stooges, and Popeye, are designed, dyed, printed, and packaged in the U.S. for distribution by mass, mid-tier, specialty, and online outlets.

Offering T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweatpants (most available in men's, women's, children's, and extra large sizes,) hats, gifts, and collectibles, Liquid Blue products feature images from nearly all walks of music as well as science fiction/fantasy, nature, pop culture, and holidays.

  Horrid Henry Goes Digital

Novel Entertainment is releasing, in conjunction with its DVD partner Abbey Home Media, the first of its three seasons of the animated series Horrid Henry via the iTunes platform. This is the first downloadable version of the long-running CITV show to be made available. The first of the releases, each containing 13 x 11-minute episodes, has been released, and the following three volumes will be available throughout the year. Horrid Henry has a strong online presence already through its flagship site horridhenry.me.

  Steiner Sports to Create Joe DiMaggio Products

Steiner Sports will create products that celebrate Joe DiMaggio, a sports celebrity responsible for the unbroken record of a 56-game hitting streak. Other licensees for DiMaggio include VF Licensed Sports Group, The Topps Co. Inc., Panini America, and AriZona Beverages.

Joe DiMaggio LLC is building a CPG business celebrating and rekindling the Joe DiMaggio legend with the launch of new market categories, innovative products, and select memorabilia to drive and expand the Joe DiMaggio movement.

  Almost Naked Animals on Swapit

9 Story Entertainment has announced an online campaign with kids' swapping and trading community, Swapit, for its Almost Naked Animals property. The campaign will run from the middle of March and continue through the Easter period and will reach more than 800,000 users on the site.

The campaign will include display ads, an email newsletter, an Almost Naked Animals blog review, and themed competition where users can win Swapits points. In addition, the Almost Naked Animals game known as Stunt Launcher will be featured in the game zone area of the site. The Swapit activity will accompany other Almost Naked Animals coverage in the boys' print press throughout the spring.

  Lisle Signs Two New Licensees for The Trash Pack

Lisle International has signed two new UK licensees for The Trash Pack: Blues Clothing and Brand Mania (formerly Football Mania). Blues Clothing is a children's licensed apparel specialist with more than 30 years of experience and a multitude of properties in its portfolio. The Trash Pack will add a new range of nightwear and underwear available in the fall. Brand Mania will add to its lineup of giftware with The Trash Pack-inspired key chains, mugs, tattoos, and iPhone cases available in the fall.

  Character World Raises £17,000 for Charity

Character World has raised more than £17,000 for charity by hosting a Diamond Masquerade Ball. The Cheadle-based licensing company raised the money for Medical Detection Dogs, a charity that conducts research into the detection, recognition, and diagnosis of diseases and medical conditions using dogs that are trained to recognize relevant stimuli. In addition, 25 percent of the funds raised will go to the Lightfund, the Licensing Industry charity body.

"The donation will make a huge difference to this amazing charity. I've seen first-hand the work the charity carries out, changing the lives of those with life-threatening illnesses. We were also happy to be able to donate to The Light Fund, a licensing industry charity body we've supported for many years. It gives to a host of worthwhile charities," says Danny Schweiger, joint managing director at Character World.

  BRB to Present Filly Trailer at MIPTV

BRB Internacional will present the trailer for Filly at the upcoming MIPTV and show the first images of the animated series based on the brand created by Dracco.

The property has sold more than 60 million collectible figurines all over the world. Simba Dickie Group is signed on as the master toy distributor and licensee.

Rendered in 3-D, high-definition, the Filly animated series brings to life the adventures of Rose and her friends as they attend the Magic Royal Academy of Funtasia. The series is set to premier in 2014 on TVs all over the world. BRB Internacional distributes the Filly series worldwide, except in Germany, and manages the rights to the Filly brand in Spain and Portugal.

  Mrs. Brown's Boys Expands with New Partners

The Mrs. Brown's Boys licensing campaign, managed by Rocket Licensing, is being bolstered with new deals. New licensed product comes from Cooneen & Misirli, Trademark, Lowes Brand International Group (slippers) and Star Cutouts. These new licensees join partners including Rock Off, Danilo, GB Eye, and Universal.

  The Tracy Anderson Brand Joins Licensing Expo

The Tracy Anderson brand will exhibit at Licensing International Expo, to take place June 18 to 20 at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The Tracy Anderson brand will utilize the new Fashion District as a launch pad for global extensions of the brand's fitness content, custom machinery and equipment, state-of-the-art exercise studios, and DVD fitness programs. Future category opportunities for the Tracy Anderson brand include studio expansions, a nutritional supplement line, fitness equipment, an active wear apparel collection, sports footwear, and a beauty line.

  Third DVD Release for Rosie

The third DVD title for preschool animated series, Everything's Rosie, has been unveiled by NBC Universal together with creator of the property, V&S Entertainment. Available at retail this month, the DVD Bubble Trouble is a compilation of adventures from the second series of the CBeebies program Everything's Rosie.
