  SMC Entertainment Group Appointed Global Licensing Agent for Angry Little Girls!

SMC Entertainment Group (SMC) has been appointed as the global licensing agent for Lela Lee's Angry Little Girls! brand. Under the agreement, SMC will build on Lee's Angry Little Girls! comic and publishing brand by launching new licensing, merchandising, and consumer programs that will provide fresh ways for fans to enjoy the brand.

SMC will re-introduce Angry Little Girls! and all of its characters to consumers ages 13 to 30 with targeted classic brand licensing, merchandising, and promotional programs in product categories including apparel, accessories, tote bags, backpacks, wallets, jewelry, watches, room décor, gifts and novelties, stationery, and HBA/cosmetics. The new campaign coincides with the upcoming premiere of Angry Little Asian Girl, an animated TV series launching in the spring on MNET. The campaign will be dedicated to supporting the 12-episode series.

  Matthew Reynolds Promoted at Pedigree

Pedigree Books has announced that Sales and Licensing Manager Matthew Reynolds has been promoted to the position of publishing and sales director.

In his current role, Reynolds has been a key part of the growth of the company acquiring such licenses as Angry Birds and Smash Hits, as well as developing new products. These include the new Yearbooks range—Christmas book gifts for adults similar to the role Annuals play for kids—that feature a number of lifestyle magazine brands, such as Woman's Weekly, Yours, and National Geographic.

Reynolds' will now take a more active managerial role in overseeing the operations of the company and driving its future development.

  Nautilus Inc. Signs Agreement with Seltzer Licensing Group

Nautilus has selected The Seltzer Licensing Group to develop strategic licensing programs and new partnerships for the Nautilus and Bowflex brands. The Seltzer Licensing Group seeks to engage companies that deliver high-quality products that will serve as a complement to Nautilus' health and fitness product solutions, further solidifying Nautilus Inc.'s position as a leader in the fitness industry.

  Bernard Leifer of The SG Companies Named to LIMA Licensing Hall of Fame

The board of directors of the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA) has selected Bernard Leifer, president and CEO of The SG Companies, for induction into the LIMA Licensing Industry Hall of Fame. The induction will take place at the annual LIMA Awards Ceremony on June 18 during Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

Leifer has utilized licensing as a driving force and brand-building tool for business expansion and success. In 1953, The SG Companies (formerly S. Goldberg) was the first to acquire a license in the footwear category and, under Leifer's stewardship, continues to be an industry leader in the application of licensed brands, with more than 50 in the company's current portfolio. In 2006, he added apparel through the formation of the SGI Apparel Group.

Leifer has exhibited an unprecedented commitment to giving back to the licensing community through his more than 20 years of service to LIMA. He was a dedicated member of the LIMA board of directors for two terms, as well as serving on the executive committee and as LIMA chairman from 2008 to 2010. In addition, Leifer serves as Chairman of the American Apparel & Footwear Association, working with policymakers in Washington, D.C. in all matters of international trade.

Leifer also supports many causes, both personally and through The SG Companies, including LIMA charities of choice—Children's Brain Tumor Foundation and The Hole in the Wall Gang—along with the Two Ten Foundation and Habitat for Humanity, and serves on the Board of Governors of Hackensack University Medical Center.

  Ultimate Spider-Man Tops Boys' ITV Ratings

Disney UK and Ireland has announced that following its free-to-air launch on January 5, the first series of Ultimate Spider-Man has been the top performing children's series with boys ages 4 to 9 on the ITV Network to date. The series consists of 26 episodes and will be running through the year. Ultimate Spider-Man averaged 248,000 viewers per week and has ranked in the top five children's series on the ITV Network since January.

  Dophes to Develop The World of Eric Carle Line in Canada

The Joester Loria Group, exclusive global licensing agent for The World of Eric Carle, has brokered a deal with Dophes to develop World of Eric Carle infant/toddler bedding, room décor, and towels for the Canadian market. The collection will be designed with graphics and art pulled from Carle's top-selling Canadian book titles, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Products will be available for specialty, department stores, and independent retailers throughout the country.

The addition of Dophes will expand the brand's current Canadian soft goods program, which includes partnerships with Snugabye for sleepwear and playwear and Gertex for infant hosiery.

  Keith Hindle Appointed CEO of Fremantle Digital & Branded Division

FremantleMedia has appointed Keith Hindle as CEO of its newly created digital and branded entertainment division. Based in New York, Hindle will craft and lead the digital and branded entertainment strategy for FremantleMedia around the world.

  Bentex Group Appointed Master Apparel Partner for Tickety Toc

Established Brands, U.S. Licensing Agent for Zodiak Kids, has signed new licensing deals, including Bentex Group as the master apparel partner in the U.S. for Tickety Toc, the new preschool show on Nick Jr. Bentex Group will create a range of apparel for preschool boys and girls that will include T-shirts, sets, separates, dresses, fashion tops, outerwear, and swimwear. Apparel will launch in the fall at mass, mid-tier, and online channels.

Other U.S. deals signed in addition to apparel include Fast Forward (backpacks, handbags, totes, luggage, and lunch kits), Royal Accessories (hair accessories, costume jewelry, novelty footwear), Franco Manufacturing (juvenile bedding, bath and beach), Baby Boom (toddler bedding and room décor), and Mega Brands (wood, floor, shape, and app-tivated puzzles in the U.S. and Canada).

  Aardman Announces Raft of Deals for Tilly and Friends

Aardman has secured nine new TV and DVD deals for Walker Productions and Jam Media's preschool series Tilly and Friends. The show has now launched in more than 10 territories and is set to release across the globe this year since having been appointed distribution partners for the brand in 2011.

TV deals have been signed with CBeebies for Asian, Polish, and African feeds; DRTV Denmark; RUV Iceland; THAI PBS Thailand; Trevano in the Ukraine; Ceska TV in the Czech Republic; MTVA in Hungary; and HOP TV in Israel. SF Norge has also signed to provide a DVD home release for Tilly and Friends in Scandinavia.

  Big Tent Signs Fashion Deals for Domo

Big Tent Entertainment has signed two new apparel and accessory deals for Domo. First revealed at Magic 2013, Domo will soon adorn handbags by Rock Rebel and apparel, footwear, and accessories by Bait.

Rock Rebel will introduce its new line of Domo-inspired fashion handbags this spring in various styles, including fashion totes, bowler bags, framed handbags, and clutches. The handbags will be available on RockRebelShop.com and across all retail tiers in the U.S. and Canada.

Bait will produce T-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, footwear, socks, hats, key chains, cast metal lapel pins, and plush featuring Domo. The Bait and Domo fashion line will be available exclusively at the Bait flagship store and online at BAITme.com and PYS.com.

  DHX Appoints Peter Byrne CEO of CPLG

DHX Media has appointed Peter Byrne as the new CEO of its wholly-owned licensing company, Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG).

Byrne joins CPLG having held many senior roles during his career, including executive vice president of consumer products at Hit Entertainment, executive vice president of worldwide licensing and merchandising at Twentieth Century Fox, vice president of Northern Europe for Sara Lee Branded Apparel, and general manager for Fruit of the Loom. Most recently, Byrne ran a global licensing consultancy working with clients such as Guinness World Records, Aardman Animations, and Jazeera Children's Channel.

  Exim Licensing Launches Fruit Ninja in Latin America

Halfbrick Studios and HAP Consulting have signed Exim Licensing Group as sub-agent for the Fruit Ninja licensing program for the Latin America region. Fruit Ninja is a mobile app game that currently has more than 400 million downloads worldwide targeting kids ages 3 to 12. It is available on the App Store, Google play, Windows 8, Xbox 360, and Facebook.

The Fruit Ninja brand is expanding with multimedia content and licensing initiatives throughout the year, with products in categories including TV, toys and games, publishing, home video, and traditional products. Exim will be responsible for implementing a licensing strategy with Halfbrick Studios. Exim plans to bring aboard leading clients and retailers in the main categories to develop the brand.

  Faresak Appointed for Slugterra Brand Expansion

Compañía Panamericana de Licencias has announced that Faresak has been appointed as sub-agent to manage the Slugterra licensing program in Brazil. Faresak is a São Paulo-based marketing communication and licensing company led by Director Sedamar Esaki.

Slugterra was launched on October 15 in the U.S. through Disney XD and has been expanding its broadcast globally. The series, produced by Canadian animation studio Nerd Corps Entertainment, targets children ages 6 to 11 and has 39 x 30-minute episodes.

  FCP Selects Rosalind Nowicki as EVP of Global Sales, Retail

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products (FCP) has appointed Rosalind Nowicki as executive vice president of global sales and retail. Nowicki will be responsible for overseeing licensing sales and major retail programs on a global scale for Fox's diverse film and TV portfolio, including Ice Age, Rio, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Avatar, Sons of Anarchy, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Fox Sports. Nowicki will manage the global sales and retail divisions as well as the London office.

Nowicki joins FCP after serving as executive vice president, global marketing and licensing for 4Kids Entertainment Inc. for the past 11 years. During this time, she was responsible for introducing the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand to all markets outside of Asia, growing the franchise to achieve more than $4 billion at retail. Nowicki was also responsible for driving the international expansion and reinvigoration of key brands including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Cabbage Patch Kids.

  Imira Signs Broadcast Deals for Larva

Imira Entertainment has secured a number of international broadcasters for its MIPTV 2013 launch show, Larva, most recently with Nickelodeon. The series has already been sold to a number of key broadcasters across the globe and Imira Entertainment holds the rights of distribution to Europe and Latin America.

Nickelodeon has taken the first series of Larva for pay TV broadcast in Spain, Portugal, and South Africa, extending the global reach of the new comedy show.

  Marie Claire Appoints PrivateCollection&Co as Exclusive Rep. in U.S., Mexico

PrivateCollection&Co is a brand architecture company with offices in Florida and Paris that prepares brands for global expansion through comprehensive strategies that integrate brand management, licensing, distribution, and development of vertical retail operations. The company's official launch is accompanied by the announcement that it has become the brand architecture partner and exclusive licensing representative for the Marie Claire brand in the U.S. and Mexico. PrivateCollection&Co has secured a licensing agreement granting Richline Group the exclusive right to manufacture, market, and distribute jewelry in the U.S. under the Marie Claire brand.

  Trash Pack Limited Edition Figure Nets Enormous Profit

A boy in the UK netted a 155,000 percent profit for a limited-edition Trash Pack figure. 10-year-old Lewis Eeles recently found a limited-edition Trash Pack figure and certificate when opening up a new series three Trash Pack bin. After doing some research, the boy placed the character on eBay, and in the final seconds of the auction, £1,296 was paid.

  Prime on Board for Angel Cat Sugar

Prime will produce Angel Cat Sugar Epiphany charms to launch in France, Belgium, Canada, and Spain (including charms for cakes and paper crowns). Angel Cat Sugar was created by Yuko Shimizu, the original creator of Hello Kitty. Numerous products ranges are being developed for Europe.

  Trump Appoints P&L Global Network to Expand Brands in Latin America

P&L Global Network has been appointed as the exclusive licensing agency of the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection and Trump Home brands for Mexico and select countries in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. P&L will be responsible for the implementation and launch of the Trump licensing program in Latin America.

The Trump licensing program will offer the luxury associated with the Trump name to consumers at attainable price points. Trump and P&L are actively seeking to launch a lifestyle program to extend the two brands throughout the region with collections representing exceptional design, high quality, and impeccable style.

  Shortology Chooses CLA Caldarelli Licensing Agency

Shortology has chosen CLA Caldarelli Licensing Agency to assist in its entry to the world of licensing. Shortology, born online and moving into publishing, focuses on biographies, historical events, movies, inventions, and social phenomena, including the history of Michael Jackson, The Lord of the Rings, the Football World Cup, and President Barack Obama.

After initial web success, the short stories of Shortology have spread quickly via social networks and became a book, which has been published in the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, Japan, and Korea.

  Tonner Doll Partners with WBCP for "A Christmas Story" Collection

Tonner Doll Company has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) to release a Ralphie Character Figure based on the 1983 film, A Christmas Story. The film, based on the short stories and semi-fictional anecdotes of Jean Shepard, including In God We Trust and All Others Pay Cash, has become a holiday staple.

Sculpted in the likenesses of Peter Billingsley, fans of A Christmas Story and collectors everywhere can take home their very own Ralphie. The Ralphie Character Figure includes hand-painted facial features, authentic costuming from the film, multiple points of articulation for dynamic posing, and a stand for easy display.

  Mister Maker Goes Global

Mister Maker is going global in Mister Maker Around The World, made by The Foundation, a Zodiak Media company. The series will go into production in the spring for transmission on CBeebies next year.

Traveling to all four corners of the globe from Sydney to Hong Kong, Cape Town to Rio, and right across the UK, Mister Maker will visit children to learn about art in their countries and to make new projects with them inspired by their local cultures.

  Jennifer Adams Signs with JLA Pets for Luxury Pet Line

Jennifer Adams has signed a licensing arrangement with pet product manufacturer JLA Pets. According to the deal, Adams will develop a comprehensive line of dog and cat beds, throws, rugs, and travel accessories. The celebrity designer, who worked on both residential and commercial properties during the last decade, also boasts a branded bedding and furniture line, Jennifer Adams Home, the first high-end furniture line to be carried at Costco. For Adams, designing a luxury pet line is the fulfillment of a long time goal.

  Luggage Partner Signed for University of Oxford

Oxford Limited, the licensor for the University of Oxford brand licensing program, has signed a deal with USB International. The five-year contract, brokered by Oxford's agent for UK and Europe Performance Brands, includes lightweight hard-shell and soft suitcases, plus a comprehensive range of executive and family travel bags and accessories aimed at the UK, Europe, and North American markets.

"As a leading international university, students and scholars travel from all over the world to study and carry out research at Oxford and some of our best known collections also have a strong travel association, which provides USB with a firm foundation of relevance and heritage to draw inspiration from," says Chris Evans, MD of Oxford Limited.

  Wizards vs. Aliens to Debut in Australia and New Zealand

FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment kids' action-adventure drama series Wizards vs. Aliens is set to debut on Australian and New Zealand TV screens this year following the sale of the series to ABC3 and UKTV. The show will premiere in Australia on ABC3 on April 25 and UKTV on May 5 and in New Zealand on UKTV on April 7.

Following the show's debut in Australia and New Zealand, a range of Wizards vs. Aliens consumer products is planned for rollout early next year, with publishing and novelty items expected to be first into market.

  Lawless Entertainment Appointed Worldwide Representative for Dino Babies

Lawless Entertainment has been appointed the worldwide representatives for DVD, publishing, licensing, and merchandising for Dino Babies. Dino Babies follows the adventures of five baby dinosaurs and their pterodactyl pals—each with a distinctive and memorable personality. Kids will watch as these fun-loving creatures act out classic fairytales in their own interpretations. Dino Babies is available in 26 half-hour or 52 x 11-minute episodes.

Dino Babies was created by Fred Wolf of Fred Wolf Films, the team responsible for the worldwide franchise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

  Russian Forum to Feature Licensing in Food Industry Session

There will be a session on licensing in the food industry held by Marmelad Media Licensing Agency during the Russian Licensing Forum on March 14. The session will feature some of the most influential representatives of the Russian licensing community who will share experiences in product launch in the food category.

The speakers will include Marco Angeletti, head of Rainbow Russia, who will represent case studies of launching Winx-branded products; Dennis Kulakov, director of Disney Consumer Products at The Walt Disney Company CIS LLC, who will speak about Disney projects and effective co-branding examples; Vladimir Zukov, director of marketing at the Neva Cheeses Group, will share his pioneering experience in launching a brand; and Julia Tikhomirova, chief marketing officer at Marmelad Media Licensing Agency, who will represent a case study for Danone- Unimilk- Kikoriki as an example of a successful application of branding in the milk industry.

  Stork Craft, Furniture Brands International Sign for Kids' Furnishings

Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc. has entered into a licensing agreement with Furniture Brands International Inc. to develop and market juvenile/kids furnishings under the respective trademarks/brands of Broyhill, Lane, Thomasville, and Drexel Heritage. The collections will include high-quality and on-trend designs of cribs; changing tables; dressers; toddler, youth, and bunk beds; gliders; and related accessories. The products will be marketed across multiple product categories, price points, and distribution channels.

The collections will cover boys and girls, with contemporary to traditional styles. The licensed juvenile/kids furnishings collections and designs are expected to be available at retail channels and online by the third quarter.
