CPLG Debuts Pink Panther Collections in Italy

A series of Pink Panther collaborations were launched last month at the international Kids Fashion Trade Show, Pitti Bimbo in Florence, showcasing the iconic cool cat as part of the ‘Fashion Comics’ project.

Fashion Comics, the project originated by designer Alessandro Enriquez and developed in partnership with Pitti Bimbo and CPLG Italy, saw Pink Panther featured in collections from select kids fashion houses exhibiting at the show: Ermanno Scervino Junior, Mimisol by Imelde Bronzieri, Monnalisa, Twinset by Simona Barbieriand and N°21.

GameCo Expands Video Game Gambling Machines with New Licenses

Under license from MGM Interactive, GameCo Inc. will develop games for its video game gambling machines (VGM) based on the TV series Vikings and the Western film Hang ‘Em High.

GameCo’s VGM is an arcade-style video game cabinet that features a single-player game adapted from top console, PC, and mobile developers. GameCo currently has 30 machines at four properties in Atlantic City, including Caesars, Harrah’s Resort, Bally’s Wild Wild West, and Tropicana Atlantic City.

While playing Vikings, players will be dropped into a sword fight where they lead their Vikings into battle. Hang ‘Em High is an arcade-style, shooting game that combines the classic film with updated graphics and experiences. The deal was brokered on behalf of GameCo by Richmond Management Group.

Goodyear Renews with IMG

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company recently announced it has renewed its long-standing licensing representation for its non-tire products with IMG, a global leader in sports, events, media and fashion.

The multi-year deal will allow IMG to continue to represent the brand on an exclusive worldwide basis, extending a relationship that began between the two organisations in 2009.
The Goodyear licensing programme is wide-ranging across categories, such as accessories and hardware, including power tools, safety footwear and car accessories, along with urban lifestyle apparel, and casual, sport and outdoor footwear.

The brand’s recent activity includes vintage luggage items, which were introduced across Europe, and the launching of the programme in several South American markets. In the U.S., an exclusive collaboration with Lucky Brand for a vintage-inspired co-branded collection was launched earlier this year in more than 170 Lucky Brand stores nationwide, and a new range of waterproof jackets is slated to debut at Macy’s in Spring 2017.

Fabrice Faurie, VP, Licensing, IMG, said: “We are delighted to extend our relationship with Goodyear. We have licensed the brand widely into new markets across the world and developed a programme that respects its brand equity, heritage and values. We will continue to seek new and innovative opportunities for the brand, all while ensuring its core brand attributes are retained.”

“For a brand that is traditionally associated with tires and auto accessories, it is exciting that our cross-category programme, through products that range from sweatshirts, jackets and winter boots to eyewear and watches, is increasing Goodyear’s licensed products international growth. Stay tuned for new brand extension in new categories in the coming years.”

Studio 100 Signs Chinese Partner

The German distribution and production company Studio 100 Media is joining forces with China’s leading animation provider WeKids Asia, bringing four of the Company’s most renowned brands “Maya the Bee”, “Vic the Viking”, “Nils Holgersson” and “Blinky Bill” to the Chinese market.

WeKids has acquired the rights to distribute the shows via television, VOD platforms and Home Video.

“We are enthusiastic to start working with Sean Chu and his talented team on four of our most popular brands in the territory of China. We are convinced that our partnership with WeKids is the right step to significantly increase the awareness of our characters in the Chinese market and we look forward to a fruitful cooperation” said Martin Krieger, Studio 100 Media’s Head of Global Distribution.

“We are so excited to start working with Studio 100 Media in China. Chinese kids and families love story-driven classic titles like Nils Holgersson. Furthermore, because classic Nils Holgersson was one of few animated TV series introduced into China from abroad in the 1980s, I believe today’s Chinese parents will want to share their affection for Nils Holgersson with their kids as they watch the newly animated Nils series,” said Sean Chu, CEO of WeKids.

British Horiticultural Group Signs Hartley Botanic

The Royal Horticultural Society in the UK has announced its endorsement of Hartley Botanic, a manufacturer of handmade, British greenhouses and glasshouses founded almost 80 years ago.

The RHS has endorsed the entire product range of the Lancashire-based greenhouse and glasshouse manufacturer, established in 1938 by Vincent Hartley. Hartley Botanic has been granted the endorsement for the design and quality of its handmade greenhouse products and for its enduring commitment to excellent customer service and products which stand the test of time; the manufacturer prides itself on greenhouses that ‘last a lifetime’, with examples still in use from the 1950s.

All Hartley Botanic greenhouses and glasshouses will bear the RHS logo with the manufacturer communicating the endorsement to consumers and trade through its website, marketing channels and at leading horticultural events. The Royal Horticultural Society’s name will also be given global exposure as a result of the endorsement in markets which include the USA, Europe and Japan, where Hartley Botanic’s British-made and styled greenhouses are hotly in demand.
The endorsement means Hartley Botanic is now the Royal Horticultural Society’s recommended supplier of aluminium greenhouses and glasshouses.

An RHS endorsement is a coveted level of recognition, granted to only a select range of garden and home products. Products selected for endorsement must go through rigorous auditing and have a proven track record. As such, an RHS endorsement is a mark of excellence for horticultural products, recognised by professional and amateur gardeners alike.

Hartley Botanic has been designing and manufacturing its beautiful aluminium greenhouses and glasshouses in the same Lancashire factory for almost 80 years. The company was the first to use aluminium in greenhouse construction, which it combined with engineering expertise to maximise glass area and natural light. The company’s vision to create lasting quality and ‘the finest greenhouses money can buy’ means many of its original structures still stand (the Hartley greenhouse at Belgrave Hall was installed in 1950) and have provided unbroken service for families over three generations.

Good Box Office for Pathe Live Kids

Pathé Live Kids, a new initiative that shows exclusive kids content on the big screen – has posted impressive box office figures in the French market, with a total of 90,000 cinema admissions recorded for screenings of exclusive Masha and the Bear content.

The show, which screened on weekends and in school holidays, offered six brand new Masha episodes, all brought together in a feature-length show with a presenter introducing each episode and interacting with the audience. Screenings started in early January and, due to high demand, the run was extended by two weeks. Around 200 cinemas participated in the event.

Pathé Live Kids has also seen recordings of hit stage shows T'choupi and TroTro hitting cinema screens, whilst mega-brands Fireman Sam™ and Bob the Builder™ are set to follow with two new 60-minute features – the global premiere of Bob the Builder: Mega Machines and the European premiere of Fireman Sam: Alien Alert. All content is exclusive to Pathé Live in France, Switzerland and Belgium and has never been seen before.

To encourage families to come along and enjoy the cinema, family-friendly features – such as affordable ticket prices, brighter lighting and child-friendly sound levels – are part of the show.

“We’ve been extremely impressed with the success of the Masha screenings, which have been very effective from a brand promotion viewpoint,” says Claus Tømming, Director of Ink Global, which represents Masha and the Bear across the world. “Pathé Live have done a great job in delivering a unique and engaging cinema experience and that’s been rewarded by these excellent box office figures.”

Executive Seeks New Challenges

I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.

I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
