Sony Celebrates 50 years of I Dream of Jeannie

Jeannie CostumeThis year, I Dream of Jeannie celebrates 50 years since its first release to American households. Sony Pictures Consumer Products is marking the milestone with a licensing program that includes apparel, entertainment, and more.
IGT’s re-launch of an I Dream of Jeannie Video Slot Machine includes two games and six bonuses. In addition, Sony will release a commemorative high-end fashion doll from Tonner Doll. The anniversary program will also continue to offer existing categories in die-cast cars from Greenlight Collectibles, costumes from Rubie’s for kids and adults, T-shirts from Trecvo Inc., and home entertainment DVD re-promote of the series across major retailers.

LIMA Licensing Awards Deadline Is Next Week

The LIMA Licensing Excellence Awards are the industry’s most prestigious recognition of outstanding creativity and performance. Each year, the best of all major segments of licensing are honored for their testimony to the professional and dynamic accomplishments of the licensing industry. Dr. Martens and Cartoon Network in Collaboration

Adventure Time Dr MartensDr. Martens has partnered with Cartoon Network for a limited-edition range of boots for both adults and children inspired by the animation series Adventure Time, featuring characters Finn and Jake for the first season.
The collection will be available for adults and children, with three new products being offered. Two will be limited edition, with only 1,460 pairs created.
The collection will also include a short 30 second film with some brand new animation.

Scholastic Signs Licensees for Goosebumps

Scholastic will celebrate the October 16 release of the Goosebumps movie with a collection of new licensed products. The offerings include T-shirts, costumes, video games, novelty toys, and more from U.S. manufacturers such as Rasta Imposta, GameMill Entertainment, and SRM Idea Lab; and Canadian manufacturers Katalyst, Cotton On, and others. More than 12 licensees have signed on to produce Goosebumps products ahead of the film from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
In addition, Scholastic Audio will produce audio books based on the Goosebumps film, while Scholastic’s Trade book publishing division will introduce five new movie tie-in titles.

Joester Loria Group Signs New Apparel Deal for PepsiCo

body ragsIn a deal brokered by The Joester Loria Group, PepsiCo has partnered with Body Rags for the Pepsi and Mountain Dew licenses. Rounding out PepsiCo’s T-shirt program, Body Rags will offer designs for the Upstairs, Specialty, and Ecommerce channels of distribution. Retail placement is expected next month.

Discovery Appoints Robert Marick as VP of North American Licensing and Global Location Based Entertainment

Discovery Communications has named Robert Marick vice president of North American Licensing and Global Location Based Entertainment for Discovery Consumer Products.  Marick will oversee the strategy and development of products across the Discovery family of networks for both the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, he will be responsible for the division’s growing location-based entertainment program worldwide.
Marick brings more than 20 years’ experience working for Fortune 100 entertainment and consumer packaged goods companies, including Disney, Fox, Time Warner, and Mattel.  He has overseen operations across multiple functions, including sales, marketing, creative, finance, and general management.

Super Wings Comes to the Americas

super wingsCJ E&M's animated preschool series Super Wings has been sold to major broadcasters in the Americas, including Sprout, which will premiere the series next month in the U.S., and Discovery Kids, which will premiere the series in Latin America in the second quarter.
Alpha Animation and Culture is the master toy partner for Super Wings. Auldey Toys of North America will launch the initial U.S. toy program with Toys "R" Us in October before a national retail roll out next spring.
Super Wings is co-produced by FunnyFlux, QianQi, Little Airplane Productions, and EBS. CJ E&M holds worldwide distribution rights outside of Asia and the Middle East, and Alpha is covering Asia and Middle East territories and is the series’ master toy partner.

Saban Brands Signs Licensing Deals for Macbeth

Saban Brands has signed licensing deals with The Mercer House and North Hill for its rock music-inspired fashion and lifestyle label Macbeth.
The Mercer House will act as the brand’s global footwear partner and will have exclusive rights to apparel and accessories in North America. The firm will launch its first Macbeth-branded apparel and footwear collection this fall.
North Hill is the exclusive apparel licensee for Macbeth in Australia and New Zealand. The agency will offer its design and sourcing expertise to current and future retailers and licensees.

Bulldog Licensing Signs New Deals for Talking Tom and Friends

SongsWithMyName Services Ltd. will develop and launch a range of personalized music products, including CDs, DVDs, and books that will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada.
Talking Tom and Friends is the flagship brand of Outfit7. The property features six characters—Talking Tom, Talking Angela, Talking Ginger, Talking Ben, Talking Pierre, and Talking Hank—who star in apps, music videos, and a series of web shorts produced in conjunction with Disney.

WBCP, The Art of the Brick Team Up for Worldwide Touring Exhibition

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Entertainment, and The Art of the Brick have collaborated to create a contemporary art exhibition featuring large-scale sculptures, inspired by DC Comics superheroes and supervillains and made entirely out of Lego bricks. The new exhibition, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics, created by artist Nathan Sawaya, will feature Sawaya’s take on the characters and stories from DC Comics’ 80-year history, told through Sawaya’s unique “LEGO lens.”

DC Comics superheroes, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and more will be featured alongside DC supervillains including The Joker, The Penguin, and Harley Quinn in a series of galleries. The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will also showcase Sawaya’s interpretations of characters, vehicles, environments, and themes found throughout the DC Comics mythology, including transformation and reinvention, strength and weakness, and good vs. evil. The exhibition will stay true to the creative disciplines of Sawaya’s original touring exhibition, which encourage inspiration, education, and participation.

The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will tour worldwide beginning this fall. Guests will travel through a series of galleries designed to make the experience intimate for the viewer.

Firefly Brand Management has signed new licensees for Tapatío in the non-food categories. Additional new licensees across key consumer product categories include Mighty Fine for T-shirts/adult apparel; Costume Evolution for Halloween costumes; Frost Productions LLC for lottery scratcher tickets. Socksmith for men’s and women’s socks; Fiesta Concession Corp. for plush, inflatable bottles, and kids’ capes; Poprageous Inc. for leggings, bathing suits, harem pants, crop tops, dresses, and skirts; and Zynga, for a Tapatío Hit It Rich! social slots game.

Playboy and Supreme Partner for Accessories

Playboy SupremePlayboy and Supreme have teamed up for a branded accessories line, set to launch this spring and summer. The latest collaboration builds off their previous collections: SUPREME x Playboy Spring/Summer 2011; SUPREME x Playboy Spring/Summer 2014; and SUPREME x Playboy x Vans footwear Spring/Summer 2014.

The SUPREME x Playboy accessories collection consists of a gold pendant necklace and ring and captures the brash, urban style of Supreme and the Playboy Rabbit Head.

The limited-edition jewelry launched in Supreme stores this month in New York and Los Angeles in the U.S., London in the UK, and Japan. The accessories will launch online starting February 26.

AALMG, Bow Wow Pets Team Up for DOG FOR DOG

Bow Wow Pets has signed DOG FOR DOG to develop a comprehensive line of pet products that incorporate DOG FOR DOG’s mission to feed pets, in a deal brokered by All American Licensing & Management Group (AALMG).

For each DOG FOR DOG branded item that is sold, a meal is donated to a shelter dog in need. The Bow Wow Pets lineup of products will consist of dog products, including toys, beds, training pads, crate mats, collars, leads, harnesses, retractable leashes, waste bags, and dispensers, and will be on display at next month’s International Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Fla.  
Passionate investors and supporters of DOG FOR DOG include Snoop Dogg, Chelsea Handler, Michael Buble, and New York Knick’s Amare’ Stodemire. All of the DOG FOR DOG passionate celebrity investors and athletes will be featured in the Save Our Shelter TV show, which will launch on the CW network this fall.

Teháma, The Golf Warehouse Launch Clothing Line

TehamaTeháma has signed a deal with The Golf Warehouse ( for a men’s and women’s clothing line that is set to debut in the second quarter of this year. The initial launch will include men’s and women’s bottoms, pullovers, and jackets.
The company plans to expand the brand as a licensed property in additional categories as well, including headwear, golf clubs, shoes, small leather goods, and sunglasses.


Lawless Entertainment Concludes Deal with PlayKids TV on Behalf of Olive the Ostrich

Lawless Entertainment has signed a deal that will add the Olive the Ostrich animated series to the PlayKids video platform for smart phones, devices, and tablets.
The English episodes launched December 11 and are available via subscription in the U.S. and Canada for the next year.
Additionally, Raydar Media in the UK has concluded a deal for Olive the Ostrich distribution throughout Australia and New Zealand.
“When you produce a big hearted show like Olive, you want as many children as possible to see and interact with it,” says Oli Hyatt, Co-founder and Creative Director of Blue-Zoo and creator of Olive the Ostrich.  “Playkids offers a new and exciting way for children to view this wonderful show!”

SpindoTV Launches on YouTube

The SpindoTV by Spin Master and Mondo Media has launched.
SpindoTv is a YouTube channel that will host high quality, kid-friendly animated and live action content including new short form series based on Spin Master’s properties as well original shows and pilots sourced from Mondo’s MCN (Mondo’s curated network of animation channels on YouTube) and third party independent creators.

Aardman Picks Up Wussywat

wussywayAardman has teamed up with Baby Cow Productions, Bigfatstudio, and Smiley Guy Studios as international sales distributor for the production company’s first preschool series, Wussywat. The 52 5-minute episodes of the 2-D series will launch on CBeebies this spring.
Wussywat follows the slapstick antics of a clever, curious cat who discovers new and interesting things through his innocent, uncoordinated clumsiness as he explores the seemingly infinite world of The Garden with his friends.
The rights and brand development team have secured global distribution rights and will take the first finished episodes to Kidscreen in Miami and MIPTV in April.
Wussywat joins Aardman’s portfolio of children’s brands, including Digby Dragon, Brain Freeze, and Bing.

Gaumont Secures Rights to Laurel and Hardy

Gaumont Animation has announced that the company has secured the worldwide exclusive option to the animation rights of the iconic duo, Laurel & Hardy, from Larry Harmon Pictures Corporation, and is set to finance, produce and distribute an all-new 78 x 7’ 2D animated series Laurel & Hardy. 
Laurel & Hardy is one of the most famous and beloved comedic teams of all time.  It has been nearly 50 years since Larry Harmon Pictures and Hanna-Barbera teamed up to produce the original animated cartoon series. The announcement was made today by Pierre Belaïsch, Managing Director, Gaumont Animation.
"I am so excited to see that one of the world’s leading animation producers recognizes the special opportunity to introduce these iconic characters to a whole new audience.  The lovable Laurel & Hardy made me laugh as a child and I know they will do the same for today's kids and hopefully for many generations to come," stated Susan Harmon, widow of Larry Harmon and President of Larry Harmon Pictures.

JCB and Lazerbuilt Join the FunFest Party

jcb fun festJCB Kids, a division of the world's third largest construction manufacturer JCB, and tech accessories specialist Lazerbuilt, have both signed up to exhibit at the upcoming FunFest Blogger Summit event.
The two companies will be attending FunFest to demonstrate their latest products to parenting and lifestyle bloggers, whilst discussing brand ambassador opportunities with those attending the event.

King Digital Entertainment has appointed three new licensing agents to represent Candy Crush Saga and its sister title, Candy Crush Soda Saga, which launched worldwide in November 2014.
Two new agents have been appointed in Europe, with El Ocho set to lead King’s licensing initiatives in Spain, Portugal and Italy while MJA Licensing will represent France and Belgium. Licensing agent Dream Theatre has also been appointed to lead the programme in India.

TPA Launches EMEA Licensing Campaign for Street Cat Named Bob

bob the streetcatIndependent licensing agency TPA has been appointed EMEA licensing agent for Bob, the street cat that changed the life of a homeless busker and became a publishing sensation.
After he tended and befriended an injured cat, James Bowen wrote about how his cat changed his life in the book A Street Cat Named Bob. The book has now sold over a million copies in the UK, and has topped the charts in the USA, Germany, Brazil, Portugal and Turkey, to name just a few of the more than 30 countries in which it has been published. More Bob books have followed and enjoyed similar success. In fact today, nearly three years after the original book appeared, James and Bob still attract massive queues at book signings up and down the country.
There is now a powerful demand for branded product linked to this pair, which is why the literary agency representing James and Bob — Aitken Alexander Associates — has appointed TPA to manage a licensing programme for Bob the brand.

Entertainment One Secures New Licensing Partners for Peppa Pig in Australia

Newly signed licensees include Hunter Leisure (wheeled toys and furniture), Big Balloon (role-play), Crayola (colour and activity packs), Maxwell Foods (sultanas), Portmerion (ceramic homewares) and Universal Brands (bath and beauty products). Symingtons have also expanded their Peppa Pig range and will be adding porridge kits and a milkshake mix to their Australian range.

Neighbours Makes its Stamp on Australian History for 30th Anniversary

FremantleMedia Australia’s (FMA) iconic serial drama Neighbours celebrates its 30th anniversary next month. To mark the milestone of the Network Ten stalwart, FMA’s Media and Brand Licensing division has collaborated with Australia Post to release a special commemorative stamp pack featuring some of the most popular characters from the show.
