Entertainment One (eOne) expanded the consumer products program for the global preschool series Peppa Pig, which airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. and Treehouse TV in Canada. TCG will renew its contract for Peppa Pig games, and Ty Inc. will renew its contract for plush Beanie Babies. Jazwares continues its role as the master toy licensee for the property in the U.S and Canada.

eOne also signed new partners, including Cardinal for games and puzzles; Kent International for bicycles and helmets; Kidz Toyz for musical instruments; Rollplay for battery-powered ride-ons; What Kids Want for seasonal novelty toys, available exclusively in the U.S.; and Wonder Forge for games.

Peppa Pig has more than 800 licensees worldwide. The series airs in more than 180 territories and has been translated in more than 40 languages.

9 Story Media Group Licenses Camp Lakebottom to Hulu

9 Story Media Group announces that Hulu has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to global hit series Camp Lakebottom. Under the terms of the agreement, Hulu retains exclusive VOD rights to the first season of the animated program. Camp Lakebottom originally premiered on Teletoon Canada and Disney XD (U.S.). 
 Various seasons of the series have been acquired by international Disney Channels (Latin America, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, MEA and Japan), ABC TV (Australia), Super RTL (Germany), and Canal+ Family (France & Africa).
9 Story Distribution International has also sold seasons 6, 7 & 8 of the classic Garfield and Friends (45 x 24’) series to Hulu. The worldwide rights to Garfield and Friends were recently acquired by 9 Story Distribution International in 2016.

Rovio Entertainment to Launch Angry Birds Blues on ToonsTV

Rovio Entertainment will launch a weekly animated series Angry Birds Blues next month, exclusively through its ToonsTV platform. The Angry Birds Blues series follows the blue bird triplets known as The Blues, and also features the Hatchlings. Each of the 30 episodes of Angry Birds Blues will premiere weekly on ToonsTV.

ToonsTV is a free ad-supported video platform available on both iOS and Android. Rovio Animation recently launched the ToonsTV for Samsung app, marking the first time Rovio Animation partnered with a company to exclusively release ToonsTV video. ToonsTV is also available on Roku, Samsung Smart TV, Apple TV, and YouTube.

Bulldog Bags New Partners for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

Bulldog Licensing has picked up a trio of new licensees for superhero animation Miraculous, with Maad Toys, Gemma International and Rubies all joining the fold. 
Miraculous is attracting legions of fans through an action-packed story that centres on Marinette and Adrien - two normal kids secretly chosen to save Paris from arch-villain Hawk Moth. With the help of their magical Kwamis they transform into young super heroes - Ladybug and Cat Noir - with a mission to capture the Akumas, the butterfly minions who are threatening Paris, and restore peace to their cherished city.
The first series of Miraculous is already the No. 1 show on the Disney Channel UK and will debut soon on the free to air ratings powerhouse, Pop.
The new deals will see Maad Toys produce colour-in backpacks, shoulder bags, handbags and purses, whilst Rubies is on board for dress-up, and Gemma International for greeting cards, gift packaging and partyware.
The new partners join a fast growing licensing programme. A toy range from Bandai is launched exclusively in ToysRUs before a high profile full market roll-out earlier this year. Other partners include Aykroyds/TDP (nightwear and underwear), Whitehouse Leisure (amusement plush), and Dreamtex for a range of bedding and homewares products.
 “Miraculous is a truly beautiful show with engaging storylines that tap into the superhero phenomenon,” says Bulldog Group Managing Director, Rob Corney. “This is reflected in a rapidly growing licensing programme that I’m sure we will be adding to again very soon.”

Jakks Pacific, WBCP Partner for DC Super Hero Girls Global Licensing Program

Jakks Pacific Inc. partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Entertainment, for a multi-year, global licensing deal to manufacture, market, and distribute large action pose dolls, dress-up, and Get Ready for Action items based on the DC Super Hero Girls universe.
DC Super Hero Girls follows female Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC universe during their high school years, before they discover their full super power potential. Each character has their own storyline that explores what teen life is like as a Super Hero, including discovering unique abilities, nurturing powers, and mastering the fundamentals of being a hero.

The DC Super Hero Girls line will be available at retailers this fall.

Fox and Lidl Announce an Ice Age Baby Line

20th Century Fox Consumer Products and Lidl have announced plans to launch first baby line based on Ice Age, across all their major stores in Europe. Launching this week, Ice Age Baby will feature looks for both boys and girls ages 3-24 months that highlight the franchise’s most beloved characters.
Ice Age Baby will be available in stores across Germany, Italy, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Romania and available online in Germany, Netherlands and Czech Republic.
Sandra Vauthier-Cellier, SVP of Consumer Products EMEA for Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products stated: “Following the success of our summer 2016 Ice Age promotion we are thrilled to once again partner with Lidl to launch a line for our littlest fans across Europe.”

Fisher-Price Appointed Worldwide Master Toy Partner for Rainbow Rangers

Genius Brands International Inc. (GBI) signed Fisher-Price, a subsidiary of Mattel Inc., as global master toy partner for the CGI-animated preschool series Rainbow Rangers. Fisher-Price will create a range of preschool products in the toy category, including dolls, figures, play sets, plush, vehicles, technology and interactive toys, musical toys, role play, and more.

This marks the series’ first licensing partnership as GBI develops a global merchandising, licensing, and retail program across all key categories to coincide with the series launch. Seasons one and two of Rainbow Rangers is currently in development.

Rainbow Rangers follows the lives of real superheroes, Earth’s First Responders. The series blends fantasy and action-adventure
with stories about friendship and saving the environment. The Rainbow Rangers consist of seven girls, each with her own wildly unique personality and powers. They live a rainbow’s ride away in Kaleidoscopia, and whenever there’s trouble for the people, animals, or natural wonders of the Earth, the Rangers ride a rainbow across the sky to save the day.

LMCA Engineers New Westinghouse License in India

LMCA has announced that Westinghouse signed an agreement for Amerex Pvt Limited of New Delhi, India to serve as the brand’s licensee for small electric appliances, including air fryers, blenders, coffee makers, electric kettles, grills, portable room heaters, irons, toasters, toaster ovens, juicers, rice cookers and sandwich makers.
LMCA, Westinghouse’s global licensing agent, orchestrated the deal.
Guatam Seth, director of Amerex commented, “Westinghouse is an iconic American brand that resonates with consumers in India.  It signifies quality, value, technology and dependability.”  He added, “We are sure that our investment in the development of a high-end product line under the Westinghouse brand will generate significant returns for our company.”

Funko Named Master Toy Licensee for Adult Swim Series Rick and Morty

Cartoon Network Enterprises named Funko master toy partner for Adult Swim brand Rick and Morty. The new range of products will be available at select mass retailers nationwide.
The first products to be introduced in the collection include Galactic Plushies, Mystery Minis, and Pocket Pop! Key chains. Funko will expand its Rick and Morty vinyl figure collection with the addition of seven new figures. The company will also debut the first fully posable, articulated action figure line for Rick and Morty. Each character within the assortment includes a unique bonus piece. Additional products, including role-play toys, novelty housewares and home décor, apparel, and accessories will roll out later this year.
Rick and Morty follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on dangerous adventures across the universe. Season three of Rick and Morty is currently in production.
The new Funko Rick and Morty collection includes Pocket Pop! Key Chains; Mystery Minis; 5-inch Action Figures; Galactic Plushies; and Pop! Vinyl Figures.

Gemma International Joins as Care Bears Licensee to Celebrate 35 Years and Beyond

Care Bears has begun celebrations of their 35th anniversary in 2017 following a successful 2016. To coincide with the milestone 35th anniversary, the Care Bears’ licensing programme is expanding with a major new partner joining the celebrations.
Gemma International, best in class for licensed greetings, will be creating greeting cards, balloons and party ware. The new Care Bears collection gives consumers ways to celebrate and share their love of the brand around the 35th anniversary. The announcement brings Care Bears full circle, as it was originally designed for greetings cards, and this has led to the pop culture phenomenon enduring 35 years. Working with CPLG, Gemma International launched their first greeting cards at Spring Fair last week.

JAKKS Pacific, Lafig Belgium S.A., Sony Partner for Smurfs Toy Line

JAKKS Pacific Inc., Lafig Belgium S.A., and Sony Pictures Consumer Products partnered for the global launch of Smurfs toys inspired by the animated film Smurfs: The Lost Village, from Sony Pictures Animation.

JAKKS’ range includes figurines, play sets, and talking plush that will feature Smurf characters, including Smurfette, Clumsy, and Hefty. Key items include Smurfs and Animal Friends Assortment; 8-inch Bean Bag Plush; Smurf Vehicle Packs; Talking Feature Plush; Smurf Mushroom House Playsets; and Jumbo Basic Plush.

Mattel and Ánima Kitchent Partner

Ánima Kitchent has awarded Mattel the worldwide master toy license to produce and market toy products for the new series Cleo & Cuquin based on the classic Telerin Family, a hit in ‘70s and ‘80s Spain and Latin America.
Cleo & Cuquin is a transmedia story that started out on YouTube, where it continues to harness outstanding results, and comprises web content, a series of 52 seven-minute episodes and two apps.
A year ago, Televisa announced that it was to become co-producer and partner on the project alongside MAI and Selecta Visión. Together with Ánima Kitchent, the companies embarked upon the adventure of transforming a short animated TV series into a transmedia narrative with a whole new look and a global brand and licensing strategy.
Prior to the launch, the Telerin Family was already generating outstanding results on YouTube, where just 15 music video clips chalked up over 400 million views and more than 900,000 subscribers in only a year and a half. On the back of this success, Ánima Kitchent will continue to produce new video clips throughout 2017, the first of which will debut in the coming months.

Komixx Secures Worldwide Development Deal for Stanley the Can-Do Hamster

Komixx Entertainment Ltd. secured a development deal with BBC Worldwide for Stanley the Can-Do Hamster. The animated TV series is based on the picture books by children’s author and illustrator William Bee.

BBC Worldwide will be the executive producer on the animated series and has exclusive rights to all other intellectual property business rights globally, including the broadcast of the series on its worldwide Cbeebies channels. This marks a first-time partnership between Komixx Entertainment and BBC Worldwide.

The animated series will follow the adventures of Stanley, a kind and considerate hamster who will do anything to help his neighbors in Little Whisker, the riverside village they call home. When something is broken, the villagers call Stanley at the repair garage he runs. Stanley can do everything, or will try his best.

Komixx Entertainment will develop the brand across all platforms, including home television, cinema, online, on-demand, mobile media, and live events, which include Toby’s Travelling Circus, Dog Loves Books, Wanda and the Alien, and Fish Head Steve.

DHX Licenses Dozens of Series to Amazon Prime’s SVOD in India

DHX Media has licensed more than three-dozen kids’ series to Amazon Prime Video’s new subscription-video-on-demand (SVOD) service in India.
Thom Chapman, Territory Manager at DHX Media, said: “This volume deal highlights the scale of our library, and our ability to deliver a wide-ranging slate of great kids’ shows to leading streaming platforms as they expand globally. With Amazon Prime Video taking up our programming for the emerging SVOD market in India, we are boosting our international presence and underscoring our reputation as a trusted ‘go-to’ distributor of quality kids’ content.”
DHX Media titles licensed by Amazon for the region include such evergreen shows as Caillou, Inspector Gadget and Strawberry Shortcake, as well as hits such as Johnny Test, Kid vs Kat, and many more.
This latest content pact follows a vast offering of DHX Media shows already available through Amazon Prime Video in other key territories globally. Last year, Amazon licensed the DHX Media original series Looped, exclusively for its members in the U.S., as well as adding library content to the U.S. Prime Video catalogue. In the U.K and Germany, Prime members can enjoy more than three-dozen DHX Media kids’ shows including TeletubbiesMessy Goes to Okido and Hank Zipzer.

Sony, The Chainsmokers Partner for Lost in Music Campaign

Sony Corporation partnered with musical duo The Chainsmokers to launch the Lost in Music brand campaign to deliver new music experiences to fans. The campaign kicked off in Los Angeles last month and will explore new music experiences that combine music and virtual reality (VR).

Last month, The Chainsmokers announced that the duo would collaborate with Sony to create a VR music video for "Paris." The video, which is currently being produced exclusively for PlayStationVR, will debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) next month and will be available at the PlayStation Store this spring.

Bobby Moore Action Man Released by Art + Science

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Action Man, Art + Science International, under license from Hasbro, Inc, are launching a specially developed range of handmade Collector Edition Action Man figures.
A very limited edition of 1,966 Action Man – Bobby Moore figures are available to purchase, to honour his career and to support the Bobby Moore Fund in their efforts for the cancer charity, Cancer Research UK. Larkshead Links Up with PR Firm Kilogrammedia

Kids programming specialist Larkshead Media has announced a new working relationship with Kilogrammedia – the PR and communications company for the licensing and broadcast sectors. 

Founded by three children’s entertainment veterans – Tim Patterson, Clare Piggott and Rob Doherty - Larkshead is a kids media service company focused on series development, planning and brand strategy, as well as investment, licensing & merchandising and international distribution. The company is focused on an end-to-end service that brings the creative and commercial aspects of a brand together from the very start to build a property that can be successful both in the broadcast and licensing/merchandising sectors.
Larkshead Media is already working with Q Pootle 5 – the hit show that takes children into space through the adventures of titular hero Q Pootle 5 and his friends on planet Okidoki. The property is the creation of award-winning author Nick Butterworth and the series pulls in big audiences on CBeebies.
Larkshead also represents Alfie – a delightful CG-animated series and app from Cube Entertainment, Dot and Dash, a magical pre-school show based on a series of books from Scholastic, animation series Ray of Hope from Just Wild, and Treehouse Digital’s live-action tween series Tales From The Web. In addition, the company will be announcing two new representation agreements in the next few weeks.

Disney Channel Renews Elena of Avalor for Season Three, Expands Licenses 

Disney Channel ordered a third season of Elena of Avalor, an animated series that follows a brave and adventurous teenager as she rules her kingdom. The series premiered last summer in the U.S. and targets kids ages 2 to 11. Elena of Avalor holds the No. 1 spot in its timeslot in the U.S., the UK, Spain, and Portugal. Episodes from the second season will premiere this fall on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.
Hasbro recently launched a doll line, and the series also inspired the most popular costume at Disney Store for Halloween and holiday this year. New additions to the range will include the Palace of Avalor play set from Hasbro, and dolls and role-play items from Jakks Pacific. The new line will debut at the North American International Toy Fair this weekend. 
The brand is also featured at Disney Parks & Resorts, where Elena greets guests with stories and songs during character appearances. Additional extensions include Disney Publishing for print and e-book titles; Walt Disney Records for an original soundtrack album; and Walt Disney Studios for DVD releases.  

Clan TVE, RTP, and Canal Panda Acquire m4e’s Wissper

The new preschool animation series Wissper is set to broadcast on the most popular kids channels on the Iberian Peninsula. The German brand management and media company m4e AG has sold the TV-rights on its latest production to Spanish TVE’s dedicated kids channel Clan. For Portugal, public broadcaster RTP as well as the pay-TV channel Canal Panda have picked up the show, which is now sold to more than 50 territories around the globe. Planeta Junior, m4e’s strategic distribution partner for Iberia and the Latin American markets, is already developing a strong licensing program for Spain and Portugal.

Netflix Previews Trailer for Buddy Thunderstruck

Buddy Thunderstruck will debut exclusively on Netflix next month. The American Greetings Entertainment comedy follows the adventures of a semi-truck racing dog named Buddy and his albino ferret mechanic, Darnell. Buddy is the brashest, fastest race-truck around.

Licensing Executive

MGL ( is one of the world's leading Art Licensing companies based in South West London (SW14) and is now seeking a dynamic licensing executive to join their team.

The primary responsibilities of the role are to deal and manage existing clients, as well as identify, develop and negotiate with new licensees. Categories include stationery, cards, gift and table top.

Executive Seeks New Challenges
I have 8 years experience of working for a large London Publishing house licensing book content to third parties. I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
