  Innovation First Partners with Ravensburger for Hexbug-Themed Board Game

Innovation First International, the company behind Hexbug Micro Robotic Creatures, has signed a deal with Ravensburger to introduce Kakerlakak, the first Hexbug-themed board game. Set to hit retail shelves in Europe this spring, Kakerlakak will be on display at the Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nuremburg.

Kakerlakak is a fast-paced action game with a Hexbug nano mini robot at the center of the action. The interactive game requires rapid response, hand-eye coordination, and challenges children ages 5 and up to maneuver the skittering bug through the kitchen maze using a variety of kitchen utensils. The player with the most chips at the end of the game, which they earn by trapping the bug into their corner, wins.

  LIMA to Provide Advice and Support at Spring Fair

LIMA will play a key role at Spring Fair International next week, providing a meeting point, licensing information, and advice at its booth within the show's Licensing Lounge.

The Licensing Lounge, located in Hall 3 of the NEC, will be a focal point for licensing agents, brand owners, suppliers seeking new licensees and retailers, and attendees looking to learn more about the licensing industry and popular properties and characters.

Keith Pashley will be hosting the Licensing Lounge for the second year in a row, providing expert advice for visitors seeking guidance in this field. Exhibitors will have their own space within the lounge to display their key properties and hold meetings with existing and prospective licensees. There will also be a communal seating area and refreshment facilities for visitors.

  Moose Toys Announces New Trash Pack Licensees

Moose Toys has signed new licensees for The Trash Pack in the amusement and vending category in the U.S and Canada. The new deals were brokered by The Licensing Shop Inc.

The Toy Factory will produce amusement plush, pillows, rubber balls, and novelty hats. All Star Vending will produce vending machine stickers, temporary tattoos, toys, and novelties.

These licensees will join previously announced partners, including Activision (video games), Parragon Books Ltd. (publishing), Pressman Toy (games and puzzles), Candyrific (candy and chocolates), Accessory Innovations (bags, lunch bags, and luggage), Mad Engine (T-shirts), Rasta Imposta (Halloween costumes), Pioneer Balloons (balloons), Bulls I Toys (impulse novelty), SGI Apparel (sleepwear), and Xtreme Worldwide Inc., (apparel).

  International Agents Sign for Paddington Bear

Paddington Bear's licensing program is expanding with newly appointed agents around the world. New representation for Paddington includes StudioCanal in France, Lizenzwerft in Germany, and Edebé Licensing for Spain and Portugal. Bulls Press has renewed its agency agreement for Scandinavia, and in the U.S. Copyrights is working with Lindberg Marketing + Media.

Paddington will continue to be represented by RM Enterprises in Asia and by Copyrights Asia in Japan. The Copyrights Group will continue to manage the rights and oversee all Paddington Bear merchandising worldwide.

  Mattel Launches New Global Entertainment Franchise Max Steel

Max Steel, a wholly owned intellectual property from Mattel, will make its global debut on March 25 in the U.S. on Disney XD. Co-produced by Mattel and FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the CGI-animated, 26-episode, action-adventure series will roll out in more than 100 territories, including Australia, New Zealand, India, China, Hong Kong, Central and Eastern Europe, South and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Turkey, France, Italy, Spain, and more.

In addition to the series, an online content hub will support the Max Steel franchise. Fans will be able to view episodes online, play exclusive games, access video content, music, and the latest information on toys and products at The Max Steel side-scrolling action adventure game will allow kids to experience the Max Steel story and access exclusive content on their iOS or Android devices.

Timed to Max Steel's fall season beginning in August, Mattel will launch a new line of toys, including action figures, ride-on and die-cast vehicles, role-play items, and remote-control products.

In North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, Mattel has partnered with VIZ Media LLC to develop and publish a Max Steel original graphic novel series. The graphic novel series will launch in the fall under VIZ's kids imprint.

  CPLG Scores Fulham Deals

CPLG Sport has signed new licensing deals for Fulham Football Club. Apparel company Jean Team will manufacture a range of denim products and belts featuring the Fulham FC marks. Frequency Telecom will release smartphone cases in Fulham FC colors for brands including Apple, Samsung, Blackberry, and HTC.

Authentic Grass is on board for memorabilia gifts, and Stage Works has signed for musical instruments. Other categories covered by leading licensees include apparel, headwear, gifting, toiletries, wine and champagne, and DVDs.

  IDW, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products Partner for the X-Files

IDW Publishing and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products have partnered to publish a series of works based on the series The X-Files. IDW's publishing plan includes reprinting collections of classic issues from 1995, and creating new X-Files comics to launch in the fourth quarter. New publishing has not been available since 2009's joint Wildstorm/IDW crossover, 30 Days of Night/The X-Files. The home of kindred series, including 30 Days of Night, Doctor Who, and Locke & Key, IDW will bring the enduring legacy of The X-Files back to comics.

  eOne Appoints Head of International Sales, Expands in Canada

eOne has appointed Monica Candiani as head of international sales. Reporting to Olivier Dumont, managing director of eOne, Candiani will be based in eOne's London office and will be responsible for the international TV, home entertainment, and digital sales of eOne's properties such as Peppa Pig, Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, and Rob the Robot. She will also be responsible for pre-sales in order to raise funding for the slate of older-targeted comedy series.

In addition to these duties, Candiani will utilize her brand management skills in her new role and work closely with eOne's licensing division to strengthen ties with broadcasters that will support the international expansion of Peppa Pig.

The company has also promoted Laura Clunie to vice president of creative affairs. She will be relocating from London to the company's Toronto headquarters to expand the presence of its properties in Canada and North America.

  Maxim Partners with Omni Scents for First Fragrance

U.S.-based media company Alpha Media Group has reached an agreement with fragrance marketer and distributor Omni Scents to introduce the first fragrance collection for men from Maxim, making it the newest brand expansion for the largest men's lifestyle magazine brand in the world. The Maxim Fragrance Collection from Omni Scents will premiere in the fall with worldwide distribution in department stores and fine fragrance retailers.

  Endemol Commences Reorganization of Commercial, Global Brands Business

Endemol has commenced a reorganization of its commercial and global brands business. A newly created Group Commercial Board composed of senior Endemol executives from around the world has been established in place of Endemol Worldwide Brands (EWB).

Former EWB international regional director Branco Scherer has been promoted to the new board as executive director of commercial affairs. In his new role, Scherer will liaise and coordinate with Endemol's commercial teams around the world and ensure that ideas and information are shared across the group. Scherer will report to Lucas Church, who has been appointed as chair of the Group Commercial Board in addition to his ongoing role as CEO of Endemol UK. Further appointments to the new board from across the company will be made in the near future.

In addition, Olivier Gers is stepping down as CEO of commercial division EWB. Gers joined Endemol as CEO of EWB in February 2010 with a focus on extending Endemol's intellectual property and commercial activities across multiple platforms, including investment in product development and the creation of games, second-screen apps, and branded entertainment.

  Poetic Gem Signs for New Wallace and Gromit Range

Licensed clothing producer Poetic Gem has signed a deal to produce T-shirts and nightwear featuring Wallace and Gromit.

Since first premiering on TV in 1989 in A Grand Day Out, cheese-loving Wallace and his faithful hound Gromit have appeared in four more TV shorts as well as a feature film, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and have collected three Oscars in the process. Produced by Aardman Animations, the stop-motion cartoons appeal to all age ranges.

  Grani Announces News at Nuremberg

Grani&Partners will showcase a preview of its range of activities for this year at International Toy Fair Nuremberg.

News will be announced for Chupa Chups, Confitrade, Cremonini Group, Danone, DeAgostini Group, Eaglemoss, Granarolo, Kellogg's Italia, Kinnerton, McDonald's, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, RCS Group, RTI (Mediaset Group), Warner Village, as well as World Sweet, and others.

Products have been designed for Hello Kitty, SpongeBob, and the Smurfs (Classic and Movie), for which the company has earned itself the title of Preferred Premium Supplier for the EMEA region.

  New Deal Signed for Mountain Dew's Green Label Exclusives Program

The Joester Loria Group has brokered a deal on behalf of its client Mountain Dew with Society Original Products as the next partner in its Green Label Exclusives program. Mountain Dew's Green Label Exclusives Program brings artists and athletes together with top designers and brands to produce one-of-a-kind, limited-edition lifestyle products inspired by the Dew brand.

Mountain Dew x Society Original Products Limited Edition Capsule Collection for spring and summer will include tees, tanks, a sleeveless hoodie, a five-panel hat, socks, and accessories. The collection will feature a camouflage print and current and vintage Mountain Dew logos and slogans. Society Original Products will target online and specialty action sports retailers to carry the line.

  Thelwell Licensing Program Growing for Classic Property

Karen Addison Associates has been appointed by the Thelwell Estate to build the licensing program for the Thelwell brand worldwide. The cartoons of Norman Thelwell have been popular for more than 60 years, since his first cartoon was published by Punch in 1952. Thelwell's first book Angels on Horseback was published in 1957 and was followed by another 31 books, many of which were translated into foreign languages, including Finnish and Japanese.

  Black Fives Partners with Soular Creative Design for Posters, T-Shirts

Vintage sports company Black Fives Inc. has signed a new licensing partnership with Soular Creative Design Agency (SCDA), a producer of high-end artisan-crafted limited-edition collectible posters and T-shirts.

Black Fives researches, preserves, honors, and promotes the pre-NBA history of pioneering African-American basketball teams known as the Black Fives Era.

SCDA has now entered the sports category of printed art with its new Black Fives Collection of vintage-inspired posters and accompanying T-shirts.

SCDA plans to release several lines of Black Fives Collection posters that encompass team history and individual achievement. The premiere series will feature the New York Rens of Harlem followed by the Smart Set Athletic Club of Brooklyn. The artwork will embody the era through rich color, type style, and the hand-crafted feel of screen-printing. These limited-edition posters will be signed and numbered by the artist in editions of 100 and available for purchase exclusively online at

  Imira and Zumbastico to Develop and Produce Horatio and the Plasticines

Imira Entertainment has partnered with Zumbastico Studios (formerly Sólo por las Niñas), independent Chilean producers, to co-develop and co-produce another series of 52 episodes of the new preschool children’s program Horatio and the Plasticines. Through this agreement, Imira Entertainment will be in charge of the international distribution of the property, representing the original series of 26 x 7-minute episodes as well as the new episodes.

  Bif Bang Pow! to Produce Star Trek Bobble Heads

Bif Bang Pow!, under a license from CBS Consumer Products, will produce Star Trek bobble heads for release this summer. The company will have a series of standard-scale and miniature-sized Monitor Mate bobble heads. Kicking off the line will be a Toy Fair Exclusive, limited-edition, collectible Borg Cube Monitor Mate, exclusively available for buyers who make an appointment to meet with Bif Bang Pow!'s representative group, EE Distribution, at the Bif Bang Pow!   Ink Signs Firefly Brand Management as U.S. Representative for Subway Surfers

Ink has signed Firefly Brand Management as the U.S. representative for its mobile game app Subway Surfers. After eight months, the app has reached more than 100 million downloads. Subway Surfers is a 3-D platform game that puts players in the role of young graffiti artists as they evade a railway security guard and his dog. Players must dodge oncoming trains and other hazards while picking up coins and useful objects. Subway Surfers was developed by SYBO Games and Kiloo Games.

With more than 6 billion play sessions already recorded, Subway Surfers is now one of the three most played apps in the world and is available for download for iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Android devices. Ink is putting together a global team of sub-agents to help expand public awareness of Subway Surfers.

  Giochi Preziosi to Release Disney's Doc McStuffins Toy Range in Europe

The Giochi Preziosi Group will launch a toy range in Europe based on Doc McStuffins, a children's TV show airing on Disney Junior.

The range, which will be released this spring in some markets, will also see Giochi Preziosi develop and manufacture its own Doc McStuffins toys, as well as distributing the Just Play line. A toy range is already available in the U.S., as well as seeing a limited pre-Christmas launch in UK Disney Stores.

  Factory Entertainment, K'nex Add New Beatles Products

Factory Entertainment, Inc., will be showing new additions to its line of Beatles collectibles at American International Toy Fair in February. New products include Sgt Pepper Band Member Shakems Premium Motion Statues, Yellow Submarine Maquette, Die-Cast Yellow Submarine, Retro-inspired Lunchboxes, 12-inch Collector Action Figures, and Famous Covers Banks.   Sambro to Develop Sonic Games and Puzzles

Sega Europe has signed a licensing deal with Sambro International to design, manufacture, and introduce a new range of Sonic the Hedgehog games and puzzles in the UK, Eire, and the Channel Islands this year.

New launches from Sambro will include Puzzles 2 Go, board games, action games (including pinball, four-in-a-row, fire balls, air hockey, super pinball, rapid fire, and magnetic scribblers), and boxed puzzles. Puzzles 2 Go, which are 48-piece puzzles in a zipped bag, will be the first products to roll out at retail in June.

  Ink Appointed As Nordic Agent for The Smurfs

Ink is now representing The Smurfs brand across the Nordics, adding to its existing involvement with the property in Eastern Europe.

Interest in the brand grew last year when The Smurfs feature film, from Sony, was released, with a sequel, The Smurfs 2, hitting cinemas in the Nordics and across the world later this year.

  Pukeko Pictures' The WotWots to Launch on CCTV 11 in China

The preschool TV series The WotWots, from Pukeko Pictures, will broadcast on CCTV 11's programming block Happy Playhouse in China. The series is currently airing in more than 100 countries. The broadcast will go to air early this year and will consist of 78 episodes, 26 of which have been co-produced with Pukeko Pictures' Chinese partner Grand Entertainment Ltd (GZ). Chinese painter Mi Jinming contributed to the co-produced episodes by adding classic Chinese ink painting elements to give the series a local and cultural touch-point.

This broadcast deal follows the recent partnership between Pukeko Pictures, Grand Entertainment Ltd. (GZ), and the Animation School of the Beijing Film Academy to establish the International Animation Technology Joint Research Centre. Formed to promote film and television cultural exchange between China and New Zealand and develop animation technology in the synergy of enterprise, academia, and institutional research, the deal will provide a platform for collaboration in the film and television fields between Chinese entities and international enterprises.

  BRB to Attend NATPE with Several Properties

BRB Internacional will attend the upcoming NATPE Festival next week in Miami with a catalogue starring some of its latest productions, such as Invizimals and Mica.

BRB will be attending NATPE's 50th anniversary edition under the umbrella of Audiovisuals from Spain, organized by the Confederation of Spanish Film and Television Companies (FAPAE) and Spain's Institute of Foreign Commerce (ICEX) to promote Spanish audiovisual productions.

  PJB Brands Appointed for Versace 19.69 Abbigliamento Sportivo

PJB Brands has been appointed by the Italian fashion brand Versace 19.69 Abbigliamento Sportivo to bring the brand to new licensing partners and to establish agents for the brand in new territories.

Versace 19.69 Abbigliamento Sportivo has design and production operation in categories such as apparel, accessories, and jewelry.   RSPCA Announces My Pocket Pets

RSPCA has signed a five-year agreement with Wow Toys to produce a range of toys for the preschool market. My Pocket Pets are a set of collectible RSPCA animal figure packs suitable for children ages 18 months and up.

Each pack contains an animal figure and an RSPCA activity sheet that includes fun activities such as dot-to-dot games, coloring-in, an RSPCA cartoon, and an RSPCA information section aimed at teaching preschool children about animal welfare. RSPCA My Pocket Pets will be on sale in February. The line will be stocked in a range of high street and online outlets including Waterstones, Tesco, WH Smiths, Tesco Direct, Amazon, and participating RSPCA outlets. The toys will also be listed in garden centers and independent toy shops, as well as a number of post offices and newsagents, through Wow Toys' wholesale network. Additional products will be developed and launched throughout this year.

  The Little Prince Celebrating 70 Years

The Little Prince was first published in 1943, and has been a success ever since with 150 million copies sold and more than 400 million readers all over the world. Celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the book will take place throughout this year.
