Outfit7 Sold for $1 Billion

United Luck Consortium has purchased Outfit7 for $1 billion.
Outfit7 confirmed that 100 percent of the company has been sold to a consortium of investors from Asia, represented by United Luck Group Holdings Limited under the leadership of Ou Yaping.
The announcement follows the launch of Outfit7’s My Talking Hank. Goldman Sachs served as exclusive financial advisor.

Jakks Pacfic, Cra-Z-Art Enter Licensing Agreement

Jakks Pacific Inc. signed a manufacturing and distribution agreement with Cra-Z-Art, a division of LaRose Industries LLC, for its Blo-Pens brand of products.
The multi-year distribution agreement allows Cra-Z-Art to market, sell, and distribute the branded line of craft and activity airbrushed markers in the U.S. and Latin America.
Cra-Z-Art Blo-Pens products will be available this fall.

Amelie Chocolat to Produce Six RHS Collections

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has licensed Amelie Chocolat, a producer of luxury continental chocolates, to produce a range of RHS luxury chocolates and confections.
Chocolates by Nature – The RHS Range will be made up of six collections.
All the collections will contain handmade chocolates or nougat confections sourced from Belgium and Switzerland.

The launch will be supported by a major RHS/Amelie Chocolat promotion beginning at the end of February and continuing until Easter. LIMA to Host Second Annual Licensing Showcase in Latin America

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) will host Expolicencias Latin America 2017, its second Annual Latin American licensing conference and showcase, from March 27 to 28 in Bogota, Colombia. The event will provide licensors, licensees, retailers, and other related business professionals the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Latin American market.

Expolicencias Latin America will feature many licensing professionals speaking about their experiences in the industry, including Celso Rafael from Exim Brasil, Maca Rotter from Televisa, Philippe Bost from Mattel, and Francisco Baquero from Hasbro. They will share perspectives on the region, opportunities, challenges, and how to face these challenges. 
Licensors in the region will have the opportunity to showcase their brands through activities created specifically for Expolicencias Latin America, including “Minute of Fame” and mobile activities that feature the sponsored brand. CPLG to Represent Love Therapy Across EMEA & North America

CPLG announces a partnership with the Fiorucci family to bring one of the most famous and iconic Italian brands, Love Therapy, to a whole new generation. Floria Fiorucci has appointed the licensing agency to represent the brand across EMEA and North America.

Love Therapy was created in 2003 by the Italian fashion designer Elio Fiorucci and was both adorned and adored by a generation. 
CPLG will work with the Fiorucci family to bring the brand back to the high street and into the hearts of teen and young adult consumers.

The Powerpuff Girls Toy Line Launches in the UK

Cartoon Network debuted its revival of The Powerpuff Girls across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) last April. Leading up to this month’s London Toy Fair, Cartoon Network shared details for the launch of The Powerpuff Girls range from global toy partner Spin Master in the UK.

Argos debuted the initial rollout this month, including the Story Maker play set and plush from its online catalogue. A TV and digital campaign supported the launch. The Entertainer will introduce the toy range at its stores and online this month, and will also provide a marketing campaign. The Powerpuff Girls Super Saturdays initiative will see stores filled with branded activities, exclusive discounts, and competitions for four consecutive weeks.

Following the debut of the toy range, a line of apparel, accessories, gifting, homewares, personal care, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and back-to-school products will also hit shelves this spring.

Entertainment One Announces New Partners for PJ Masks in the UK

Entertainment One (eOne) announces a new broadcast partner and a raft of new licensees signed for its hit preschool superhero TV property PJ Masks, as it prepares to debut the brand’s first toy line in the UK from 4th February 2017.
The series launches on Sony Pictures Television Networks' free to air channel Tiny Pop from 25th February 2017. The show currently airs on Disney Junior in the UK where it debuted in February 2016 and consistently ranks as one of the channel’s top performing shows.
Leading into the 2017 toy fair period, the licensor is also delighted to confirm that VTech and LeapFrog is on board for a range of electronic toys covering the VTech platforms Innotab/DigiGo and Leapfrogs platforms LeapPad, Epic and LeapStart while Ravensburger will produce a range of puzzles and games that will launch in July 2017. Further anchoring the UK licensing programme, Roy Lowe will launch socks from October 2017 and William Lamb will introduce a limited range of bags for back to school later this year with an expanded line of bags and footwear to follow in January 2018. In addition, Dreamtex will introduce children’s bedding from October 2017, Zak is signed for lunchware products and Gemma International will produce a PJ Masks party and greetings range.

Sesame Workshop Names Sambro International Licensee for European Territories

Sesame Workshop named Sambro International as its licensee to develop a new range of Sesame Street plush toys, bags, and arts and crafts products for the UK, Benelux, Iberia, the Nordic countries, and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). 
CPLG, Sesame Workshop’s licensing representative in the territories, helped broker the deal. Sambro will create a variety of branded products to build a strong presence with major retailers working closely with CPLG’s local network of offices.

Dreamtex Spots On with Launch of Miraculous

Dreamtex are working with the launch of Zag’s Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, the animated Disney channel show focusing on the everyday lives of unexpected superheroes Marinette and Adrien, two normal teens living in Paris who have been chosen to secretly save those around them from the actions put into play by the evil Hawk Moth.
The deal signed with Bulldog Licensing includes bedding, blankets, towels, cushions and other accessories. Dreamtex will partner with Skybrands for Nordics and Germany.
“We are having a lot of fun working on the Miraculous collection’, said Jo Duckworth, Director. ‘The striking artwork translates brilliantly on to our products and the key brand themes of girl empowerment, fashion, friendship and Paris ambience are very appealing.”

Spirit Halloween to Launch SpacePOP Costumes

Following the fourth quarter mass retail launch of SpacePOP, Genius Brands International Inc. announced a new partnership with Spirit Halloween for a direct-to-retail costume and accessories program this year.
Spirit Halloween will design and manufacture the first line of SpacePOP character costumes and accessories, which will debut at more than 1,000 retail locations across the U.S. and Canada beginning this August.  Spirit Halloween joins a roster of partners for SpacePOP products, including apparel, accessories, beauty products, electronics, room décor, books, music, and home entertainment.

Wissper Gets Greenlight for New Episodes

m4e and Cuckoo are going to produce 52 new episodes of the preschool TV show Wissper.
UK’s Channel 5 has commissioned another 52 x 7 minutes episodes for its preschool block Milkshake!, bringing the show’s total episode count to 104. The show will again be produced by the German brand management and media company m4e AG and London-based animation studio Cuckoo (formerly: Absolutely Cuckoo) and is scheduled to premiere end of 2018/beginning of 2019. Season 1 debuted in the UK in October 2015 and became one the most popular preschool programs on Milkshake!

KISS Added 125 New Worldwide Licensing Partners Last Year

Last year, KISS worked with 125 new licensing partners worldwide, adding to its portfolio of licensing and merchandising products from the past 43 years. This year, KISS will prepare for a European tour.
Epic Rights, KISS’ exclusive worldwide licensing and merchandising partner, shared the roster of 125 new licensing partners. New licensees with worldwide rights include comic books and graphic novels from Dynamite Entertainment; digital mobile video game from Spring Publishing; emojis, stickers, frames, overlays, themes, wallpapers, and avatars from Swyft Media; photo booths and branded prints from Apple Industries; carbon racing bikes from Sciacallo Bikes; 3-D printed figurines from Staramda; and long hauler model trucks from New Ray Toys.     
New licensees with North American rights include Pangea Brands LLC for waffle makers, toasters, and popcorn makers; S&B Entertainment for branded vending and crane machines; Wish Factory for pet products and automotive; AJJ Enterprises for cornhole and beanbag toss; Card Corporation for debit cards and credit cards; and Rhode Island Novelty for amusement products, which will also be available in Mexico.

MarVista Licenses Broadcast Rights to Season 2 of Yo-Kai Watch

MarVista Entertainment (MarVista), the Latin American distributor for Yo-Kai Watch, has extended its broadcast licensing agreement with Disney XD Latin America, delivering a second season of the popular animated children’s television series and the first English-language film, Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie. 
Additionally, MarVista’s Yo-Kai Watch pan-Latin American licensing agent, Tycoon Enterprises, has secured new deals for the brand’s consumer products’ program.

Kids Preferred Launches New Line of Fisher-Price Developmental Toys

This spring, Kids Preferred will launch a new line of Fisher-Price developmental toys for infants and toddlers. The range for is based on the brand’s rainforest animal characters with age-appropriate developmental features. The new line of toys are colorful and made for small hands. The range consists of toys that are easy to clean, durable, and portable.
The Fisher-Price collection includes wrist rattles, ring rattles, zippies, and chime & chews.

Bright Art Licensing and The Art Group Collaborate on Range Inspired by Children’s Picture Book Illustrations
Bright Art Licensing, a division of the Bright Group agency, and the creative greeting card company The Art Group have collaborated to take inspiration from books published by Bright’s artists within the children’s picture book market, to make their first range of greetings cards called "The Bright Collective". 
The visuals on the card designs are extracted from book titles Grandad’s Island by Benji Davies (Simon & Schuster), I’m a Girl by Yasmeen Ismail (Bloomsbury), The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield (Frances Lincoln Children’s Books) and Alan’s Big Scary Teeth by Jarvis (Walker).

Dot to Dot to Produce School of Roars Preschool Series

Dot to Dot Productions will produce the new 2-D-animated preschool series School of Roars. CBeebies acquired the series in the UK, and Sprout acquired the series in the U.S. ZDF Enterprises will handle worldwide distribution, and Creative Europe will handle further investment in the production.
School of Roars follows five mini monsters through their school day as they learn “monstery lessons” in math, music, cooking, and life. The show will be supported by interactive elements including game apps, story apps, and a website.
School of Roars will be animated at Dot to Dot’s in-house studio and is expected to air this year. Other shows that will be completed at the studio include CBeebies’ mixed media project, Footy Pups, which was also created by Dot to Dot.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Creates strategic direction for active licensee base and negotiates new partnerships within assigned categories to achieve growth objectives.   Directs tactical execution of licensed product lines from concept/line plan through commercialization.  


  • Manage existing licensees in assigned categories: 
    • Evaluate licensee’s quarterly marketing, retail and financial forecasts to ensure licensees on are track to meet established contractual obligations, royalty payments and forecast goals.
    • Organize and run licensee orientations, business reviews, semiannual/quarterly line reviews, and brain storm sessions.
    • Address specific licensee performance issues
    • Negotiate renewals on a timely basis
    • Provides input for annual departmental budget and plan
  • Ensure licensees develop seasonal lines in time for internal seasonal review and develop documents and presentations to communicate licensee’s initiatives to internal Crayola departments
    • Set trend direction and make recommendations for new product entry
    • Direct category research and product concept testing as needed with the consumer insights team
    • Work with creative and product development on design and creative direction for licensed product and packaging
    • Responsible for managing licensee press releases, cross marketing and promotions
    • Ensure adherence to internal approval process (i.e. safety, quality, financial, legal, content, creative, consumer activation, consumer affairs etc.) and assist in resolving issues.
  • Negotiate new licensed strategic partnerships for assigned segments in conjunction with established category strategies
    • Research, secure and develop new licensees building upon the success of existing segments in order to achieve predictable, profitable and sustainable growth
    • Negotiate deal terms including: grant of rights, royalty rates, guarantees, projections and business plans
  • 7 years’ experience in licensing or consumer marketing work for a CPG company.
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred

I am looking for a role which utilises my skills in negotiation and relationship building and can develop my experience within the licensing field. Having licensed book content to a wide variety of customers from national Newspapers to international Publishers I would relish the experience to work in a new industry, licensing new content to new clients.
I realise that a move across from traditional publishing may mean a step down from the managerial role I was in before. I'm enthusiastic to work in a new industry and feel my skills are easily transferable and am happy to look outside licensing roles also.
